+Tel Aviv Not really anything like it nowadays. I've come to like some of the newer bands like Cage the Elephant, but there is nothing that satisfies that teen angst.
It's very good, regardless of genre or if you like 'emo' or not. I would argue it actually starts at 2:10 with that wall of feedback and noise. It's damn good.
Deja Entendu will always be my favorite, but Devil and God is a phenomenal album, and Daisy is just as good an evolution. I can't believe it's been 10 years. Where has my life gone?
This is an incredible album (all the others great too), but Your Favorite Weapon 😩🙌🏻💯🖤❤️ will forever be my #1 for BN it’s like I can’t put it on & not listen to the entire thing through.
+Kiliab Gonzalez I ordered a bass on Amazon a few months ago. It came, I took it out of the box, tuned it and immediately started learning this song. This just grooves so hard it hurts.
41 now, and the day I lost my virginity (17) was perfectly described in these lyrics. Every time I listen to this song it takes me back to that very moment in time I wish I could have back. I remember rushing home afterwards and drinking a Cherry Coke to try washing her from my system, unfortunately nothing tasted or felt the same again. I hope kids hear this song and refrain from making a similar mistake… I can’t thank Brand New enough for this song, it was reassuring to know I wasn’t the only boy who felt like this! I certainly don’t blame her whatsoever: however, trust your gut instinct, if it doesn’t feel right do not commit to something you can’t take back!

This song makes me think of this book called Tampa. It’s about this boy who’s in middle school who’s parents just got divorced so he’s all vulnerable and he meets this teacher who’s a predator. And it was a woman. Just how naïve he was and how she was able to manipulate, use him, and the throw him away makes my stomach hurt when I think about it. ( it was based off a real woman too; sick world)
Best of luck. It gets easier both ways, after a while you won't even miss drinking at all; it won't be in your mind. A holiday and a few social beers later you could be smashing way too much and missing work. It probably won't last though and you'll go back to being sober after a very guilty few episodes. Your attachment to life, mundane as it is will win over booze if you really have had enough.
I’ll never forget skipping school with my brother and going to Cardiff uni with a dodgy ID card to watch these guys. Still a Top memory 16/17 years later
Lyle Lanley the meaning behind this song is why would I ever want to grow old with the knowledge and pain that I went through after a person I loved more than life itself leaves or humiliated you. It’s better to die young and save yourself from this. Or another take would be why would you want to ever live in this fucked up world that we live in it’s not worth all the pain that we endure. Those are just 2 of the endless depressing examples that you could have from this song
@@trog6050 To me, the song is about him thinking of losing his virginity as sacred. But then when he was rushed into it by a girl he loved, but viewed him as just a fun time. He felt crushed/heart-broken. So he feels like he should've never held sex to be a sacred thing, and he should've jumped into it early and just hooked up with random girls earlier to save himself from the devastation of what he went through. "Die young and save yourself" Or, in other words, lose your virginity young and don't make it sacred. Of course, based on his view of the girl being the "slaughter" or evil, him doing this, he would end up being the evil one. So in that way, I think it's supposed to be a little bit of ironic advice to give.
Leon Kompowsky an inexperienced teenage boy being raped by an older experienced woman. This could be Jesse's personal account from his own life which could explain why he did what he did when Brand New was still a new band...

+chocolatecoatedllama I would think I believe you, but my tommy gun don't would be more of an inspiration to lying since they are about getting cheated on. This song is about a guy losing his virginity, or more accurately, getting his virginity taken away.
I remember watching this video 10 years ago!!!! One of my favorites. I can only assume that it won't look good for the lead singer when the guy in the shadow makes an "off with his head" gesture. LOL!!!!!
First time i heard this song was after getting home from a Xmas party (back in the 2000s) my buddy put this song on and told me that "I HAD TO" listen to it coz it was awesome. He was right! A couple of us stayed up drinking and listenjng to music till 5am and listened to this song like 18 times haha
I remember my friend Casey playing this bass riff as a warm up During dust lot shows. I also remember smoking cigs for the first time trying to fit in. I’ve been smoke free since 6/14/2023. How some things change but good music is always there. I love these guys

LYRICS:
Keep the noise low
She doesn't wanna blow it
Shaking head to toe
While your left hand does the show me around
Quickens your heartbeat
Beats me straight into the ground
You don't recover from a night like this
A victim, still lying in bed, completely motionless
A hand moves in the dark to a zipper
Hear a boy bracing tight against sheets
Barely whisper, "This is so messed up"
Upon arrival the guests had all stared
Dripping wet and clearly depressed
He'd headed straight for the stairs
No longer cool, but a boy in a stitch
Unprepared for a life full of lies and failing relationships
He keeps his hands low
He doesn't wanna blow it
He's wet from head to toe and
His eyes give her the up and the down
His stomach turns and he thinks of throwing up
But the body on the bed beckons forward and he starts growing up
The fever, the focus
The reasons that I had to believe you
Weren't too hard to sell
Die young and save yourself
The tickle, the taste of
It used to be the reason I breathed
But now it's choking me up
Die young and save yourself
She hits the lights, this doesn't seem quite fair
Despite everything he learned from his friends
He doesn't feel so prepared
She's breathing quiet and smooth
He's gasping for air
"This is the first and last time, " he says
She fakes a smile and presses her hips into his
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides
He's holding back from telling her exactly what it really feels like
He is the lamb, she is the slaughter
She's moving way too fast and all he wanted was to hold her
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect
He whispers that he loves her but she's probably only looking for s-
So much more than he could ever give
A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides
He waits for it to end and for the aching in his guts to subside
The fever, the focus
The reasons that I had to believe you
Weren't too hard to sell
Die young and save yourself
The tickle, the taste of
It used to be the reason I breathed
But now it's choking me up
Die young and save yourself
Up the stairs, the station where
The act becomes the art of growing up
The fever, the focus
The reasons that I had to believe you
Weren't too hard to sell
Die young and save yourself
The tickle, the taste of
It used to be the reason I breathed
But now it's choking me up
Die young and save yourself

+mcrcaitlyn FRANK
+chocolatecoatedllama I would think I believe you, but my tommy gun don't would be more of an inspiration to lying since they are about getting cheated on. This song is about a guy losing his virginity, or more accurately, getting his virginity taken away.
I remember watching this video 10 years ago!!!! One of my favorites. I can only assume that it won't look good for the lead singer when the guy in the shadow makes an "off with his head" gesture. LOL!!!!!
Que nostalgia ver este video creo que lo llegue a ver en el 2005 si mal me acuerdo. En Mtvla en el programa 120minutos en la madrugada
