  • In this video, we talk about common oil leaks on the Ford 7.3 Powerstroke. At first I thought I needed a rear main seal or oil pan gasket… I’ll show you how to use UV Dye to quickly pinpoint an oil leak for repair!
This method can be used in multiple makes and models, anything with oil really!
Get ready for a stupid amount of U2 references as well.

@@cadenprosise2609I didn’t do this but. Cleaned out the valley and sprayed parts cleaner until it looked dry. Like was at the HPOP line that goes to the head. Replaced the o ring. I also found a small leak under the fuel filter bowl, but haven’t take that apart yet.

@@Raskzi was it hard or expensive to fix? My 7.3 has been slowy leaking for awhile and today its been dumping and i mean puddles of oil now, stressed is an understatement right now.

@@cadenprosise2609 no wasn’t hard just got napkins and cleaned all the oil out, then sprayed it with brake cleaner cans. Make sure it is dry and turn it on, get in there and look for the leak with a flash light.

@@bryanbuilt360 not yet I plan to. I just bought a new OEM lift pump but I'm nervous about stalling it and dropping the plunger down.

@@asalvano ya know I can’t say I’ve ever done one on the OBS but would imagine it’s much like a distributor driveshaft. Shoot. I was looking at swapping a newer fuel bowl and all. I had an 02 truck with the fuel crossover and that was one of the best mods I’ve ever done to a 7.3. Getting into the oil crossovers tomorrow! Thanks for the feedback and advice. Slow and steady with the lift pump 🫡

Good thinking. Will the dye harm anything if I run the engine to the next oil change interval? Just put $100 in oil in it.

No issues there, keep running it and check for other potential leaks in that time. I’m still running around with it haha which reminds me, I’m probably due for an oil change 😂

Hey brother! I have the same fuckin thing goin, looks like the pan but want to make sure before I pull the motor. Just changed the fricken oil too. How much of this would you say I need? Directions say 1 oz per 5 quarts. But damn my 01 7.3 takes about 17 quarts, so would put in 3 o these bottles or just rock 1 and see if it works?
