@@christianmorningstar5098 it will be broken within the next 20 years unless they change the rules to make it a more defensive oriented league. ...there is nobody right now who`ll be able to come close. kareem played 80 games in his 19th season, lebron had is second highest scoring avg in his 20th season. and lebron will pass the 40,000 points mark, which looks insane even writing it. thats like the 11 nba chips by bill russell in which it requires greatness over a long period of time, and not just for 1 season (like avg a triple double...)...👏👑
The hard part about breaking the record: - Have to play 20 years - Have to be performing at all star level for those 20 years If a player can do those two, the record will be broken. More points are being scored in the NBA than ever before, which is something that started booming in the later parts of LJ's career.
@@cman04 Actually if you calculate the math on his 10 years when he won the scoring title and add the last 5 years total and you have 35,282 I highly doubt even if he continued to play that he would have gotten the record. He averaged 20 points per game towards the later part of his career.
@@TV-fx9ui you mean when he was 40 and older than Lebron? Even with his 20pt average, he still has the highest PPG average in 15 seasons at 30.1 - higher than Lebron. So no, you can't assume a decline, because he retired during his peak...twice. Not to mention that he played in the defensive era. No way in heck that Lebron would average what he has averaged if he played in the 90s.
There are multiple factors that make it very hard to beat (and I do not see any current player breakink it): 1) Lebron came out HS already putting +20 as a 18years old. Even the most talent guy will come at 19 or 20 it is very hard to have this kind of impact. 2) This one is the most absurd to me: playing 90% of the games available for that long. Players can't stay health playing like that. Eventually you will get hurt. You gotta have a very unique kind of body and an absurd amour of luck, because injuries just happen. 3) This one is equally absurd as the previous: there are few players able to sustain this average for a long streatch. Putting 27 points for 8 seasons demands a very rare talent. Putting this for 20? Man... this is insane. If the game changes for 14s clock and 4 points or somenthing like that, having much more points in the game and becoming easy to have seasons like Wilt, ok, maybe someone not born can have a chance. But I do not see this happen. Lebron stamina, durability, dna, talent, little luck as well, made this record too unreacleable. The dude will easily beats the all time seasons played record (by Vince) playing all of the in an absurd level. We could say he can play until he is 44 and even in his last 3 or 4 seasons he would put 15ppg. But I believe Lebron will keep playing just if he can do it in the highest level (and I think he can do it for more 3 years).
Doubtful, The amount of years you'd have to play at an elite level is just Unrealistic, Lebron is a physical specimen like no other we've ever seen so it'll take a really Really unbelievable athlete to do it

If he plays another 100 games it will be very tough. He has more impressive records thou. His record for consecutive double digit games which is well over 1100 now is unreal. It took a great deal of dedication, skill and more than anything LUCK to get that far. It will never be passed.

Great video! I think as the game moves forward there will be more injuries with longer stretches of time to heal those injuries. Not to mention load manamgement and players not wanting to play to pressure a trade. In short games played will be the metric that keeps the record from being broken.
I think we all get too caught up in the GOAT debate. I mean let’s be real and just enjoy greatness. This man is in the twilight of his career and given us all amazing highlights, spectacular finals narratives, battled with some of the best modern nba players and won a finals down 3-1 against the best NBA team of all time (record wise). Man is and always will be a legend and people who can’t see that are either old heads or Curry stans
Nice and I agree with most of your points but you have to consider that Kareems record only could have been broken because of rule changes. With that in mind I say, of course it's possible the new record could be broken sometime. What if the 4-point-line comes? What if the NBA expands and we get more games? What if they make scoring even easier and Luka or someone else averages 40 for multiple seasons? And by the way, of course has LeBron declined: For example, he "only" scored under 1.500 points per season for the last 5 years compared to 2000 points per year the 5 previous years...
While I don't think it is completely impossible for the record to be beat, I think I put LeBron's record into the Stockton assist record category, meaning it is not going to be beat in my lifetime. I'm 40. I do not think there is a single person in the league who could beat the record. The closest is probably Giannis or Luka, but both started in the NBA a year+ older than LeBron when he started. I don't think either will have the longevity. Whoever potentially does it will need to be drafted young, be immediately impactful, score 25-30 points per game for 20+ years while not missing a significant number of games to injury. Maybe medical science gets us there but it took 40 years for someone to beat Kareem. Lebron will probably beat Kareem by a few thousand points. I expect it will be at least another 40 before someone beats LeBron. I don't think I'm going to make it that long.
I think Luka is the only one who has a chance to catch him. I also feel like people forget lebron is also the leading playoff scorer of all time. i think it's the combined record that no one is touching. by the time he retires it will likely be 50K
given how inflated the stats are in modern nba,.. and how offense oriented the league is,.. the scoring title will be broken in a foreseeable future,... unless ocors the league decides to allow a very tight and physical game play to prevent that from happening,..
Everything comes down to load management. Yes, players maybe scoring more now than ever, but most of them are also skipping a percentage of the regular season, so their totals get a hit because of it. It ain't impossible yet, but if Lebron puts 5 o 6k more points to it, damn is gonna be pretty hard to be broken.
Absolutely never be broken because this young generation superstars like Luka Morant Zion ATC... Is all of that is front of injuries that was this is never be broken again
For those saying Mj would surpass this if he played longer or started earlier, just stop. The fact is that he didn't so that argument is useless to me. I constantly see Mj's imaginary points being compared to actual points now and then on Facebook.
@andrey diaz People keep forgetting that one of the reasons Jordan retired was because he was physically and mentally drained after the 1992-1993 season. The woulda coulda's are pointless
The league has too much parity for it to be broken at any point in the near future. You know how many deep playoff runs/finals runs you gotta have to come close to that??? Regular season monsters won't cut it
hes not a pass first player, a pass first player is like, stockton, jason kidd, steve nash, magic, lebron is a insane scorer with insane playmaking/assisting
I truly believe unless LeBron retires bc he wants to be able to own Vegas/Seattle teams he will end up somewhere between 45k-50k points! He already has 7631 playoff points when 2nd place MJ has 5987! That’s a nearly 22% increase and it will prob go up above 8k! If he has 22% more points regular season then Kareem that would be 46,836 points which will be nearly impossible to break! It really comes down to how many years he wants to play! Getting 50k would be so ill! Haters crying longevity when he’s essentially tied for 3rd in career POINTS PER GAME with Eligin Baylor and Durant!
At this point, KD needs to play 435 games and avg 27 ppg just to surpass Kareem. LeBron is still playing, and will add significant numbers to that record. Imagine that. MJ is still the Goat to many people but that is more arguable today than ever before because LeBron has reached new heights that no one has ever been to. And yet, we are not yet talking about his playoffs totals which are off the charts.
Durant won't catch him but be interesting to see if he can also bypass kareem. doubt it. nevertheless like lebron, he has also averaged more than 25 every single season except his rookie year. amazing stats, they're the only 2 in history i think.
The person that will break the record most likely isn’t born yet . It would take someone that’s so NBA ready at a young age and durable enough to adapt to different eras . Might take 60+ years for it to happen
Ain’t trying to meat ride or nothing but this dude on record spends like millions of dollars in the offseason to stay at his physical peak, and (God forbid) never really had a season ending injury. To remain consistent for so long especially breaking the record in fewer games than Kareem and still adding on to it everyday, yeah this won’t be broken. At least not in our lifetime.

Now that the NBA is zero defense and Load Management is a thing, this record will only hold for a few years. Scoring in the NBA is as easy as it has ever been and it is supper easy to stay healthy when you aren't expected to play back to back games anymore.
If you wanna get technical, what he recently broke was the regular season alone. And yes, I am aware that LeBron is the current playoff scoring record aswell
It would take a Jordan level scoring career with no injuries or time off or a 2 decade plus career to be broken. Well, unless they change the rules again to make scoring easier.
Kareem started his career without the 3 pt line, maybe someone in the future will benefit also a change of basketball ruling to surpass LeBron's all-time regular season scoring. Inclusion of a 4 pt line maybe?? but for the standards and rules of todays basketball, there is basically no one who can surpass or break that record.
A 4 point game will shatter NBA. 3 point era is already wrecking havoc to the game, but this could make the game boring as players will only shoot from there and then never play defense, and so that could make it a circus show but nobody would want to watch it.

Bron got 40% win rate in 10 trips, and got 20% win rate all throughout his 20year career on trying to win the chip.
Actually what's more baffling to me is Lebron's style of play was never meant to last this long. He is primarily a slasher majority of his career and lacks elite jumpshot. History would tell us that those type of players have shorter primes because of injuries and wear and tear. Granted he can now hit midrange and even 3s, but still not above league average level. I really think, his biggest weapon is his basketball IQ. It enabled him to phase himself, play smart and even adjust to the changing style of play of the NBA. He is really a freak of basketball.

Think about that for a minute.......that is almost 14 straight seasons of never scoring under 10 points in any game he has played. That is mind boggling and will never be touched. Whether you like LeBron James or not, appreciate what you are witnessing because you will never see it again.
This fact is underlooked by lots of people

Some people point to LBJ’s longevity as a weakness in the GOAT debate, that it took him 20 years to do what Jordan did in 15, but you make a great case for why LBJ’s longevity is PART of his greatness. LBJ is one of the two greatest of all time; the fact that his greatness takes a different from than MJ’s is proof of that. Don’t knock him for being great on his own terms.

A true goat of the game. Unbelievable
I don't think we can say definitively that it won't be broken. Because there still is a chance that another elite scorer with insane durability and longevity will play in the NBA. It probably won't be broken anytime soon, but I feel like eventually it'll fall, though it'll definitely take a long time, longer than it took to surpass kareem
I'm 27 and I can bet one of my balls that it won't be broken in my lifetime.
I'm sure there is a good chance that it will be broken at some point. With fitness, health, and medical technology advancements, especially stuff like reverse aging, players in 20-30 years will have a wild advantage over players now.
@@christianmorningstar5098 it will be broken within the next 20 years unless they change the rules to make it a more defensive oriented league. The league is becoming more and more offensive friendly and the only way I don’t see someone breaking it will be if Lebron plays into his 50s and get to like 50k points. Either way that record doesn’t really matter or changes anything especially when you had players the spent half of their careers or all of their careers without a three point line and now even a terrible shooter like lebron is chucking up 8-9 3s per game. It’s literally going to get to the point where it will be like a sharpshooter(similar to 2k my player) that will literally only shoot 3s and will shoot about 15-20 per game

I just hope he stays on this path and keeps avoiding father time because I've had a lot of fun over the years watching him play 👌
Hahahahaa
...there is nobody right now who`ll be able to come close. kareem played 80 games in his 19th season, lebron had is second highest scoring avg in his 20th season. and lebron will pass the 40,000 points mark, which looks insane even writing it. thats like the 11 nba chips by bill russell in which it requires greatness over a long period of time, and not just for 1 season (like avg a triple double...)...👏👑
Great comparison! It will be as hard as Bill Russell record
Bill Russel's 11 chips arent going to be broken only because he played in a league with 8 teams.
Very professional type channel. Def deserves more subs
Thank you! Really appreciate that 🙏
The hard part about breaking the record:
- Have to play 20 years
- Have to be performing at all star level for those 20 years
If a player can do those two, the record will be broken. More points are being scored in the NBA than ever before, which is something that started booming in the later parts of LJ's career.
This was a great watch. Thank you.
The fact that players have to AVERAGE 30ppg for 14 SEASONS just to pass him is unreal.
Absolutely mind boggling
Playing every game!
That is why MJ would have been the scoring leader if he never retired. He average 30.1 ppg for 15 seasons. Higher than Lebron.
There are multiple factors that make it very hard to beat (and I do not see any current player breakink it):
1) Lebron came out HS already putting +20 as a 18years old.
Maybe Luka can come close but I cant see anyone else currently in the league having a chance

big lebron fan here , and i’m sad to say to that eventually, maybe not in this lifetime, but eventually maybe in 100 years or 200 years , someone will break this record , no matter how many years it takes the nba is here to stay. the day will come
Great video man
Thanks!
This is a great video 😀
Thanks! Glad you liked it 🙏
Nice and I agree with most of your points but you have to consider that Kareems record only could have been broken because of rule changes.
I don't think I'm going to make it that long.
hopefully you do
LeBron will play at an elite level for another 3-4 years.. and then his decline will be another 5 years. he could honestly get 50 000 points.
Simple answer , no one coming out of HS young enough to break this records. Very possible to break. Just come out of HS and play 20 years consistently
I think Luka is the only one who has a chance to catch him. I also feel like people forget lebron is also the leading playoff scorer of all time. i think it's the combined record that no one is touching. by the time he retires it will likely be 50K
Crazy career.lucky I got to see MJ AI kobe.and Lebron 💯😎
given how inflated the stats are in modern nba,.. and how offense oriented the league is,.. the scoring title will be broken in a foreseeable future,...
unless ocors the league decides to allow a very tight and physical game play to prevent that from happening,..

He'll probably finish 2nd all time in assists too.
I shed a tear while watching this
If recent years have taught us anything. It’s never say never
Everything comes down to load management. Yes, players maybe scoring more now than ever, but most of them are also skipping a percentage of the regular season, so their totals get a hit because of it. It ain't impossible yet, but if Lebron puts 5 o 6k more points to it, damn is gonna be pretty hard to be broken.

@andrey diaz
People keep forgetting that one of the reasons Jordan retired was because he was physically and mentally drained after the 1992-1993 season. The woulda coulda's are pointless
I'm sure Nike will make a shoe to commemorate this.
No doubt in my mind
The league has too much parity for it to be broken at any point in the near future. You know how many deep playoff runs/finals runs you gotta have to come close to that??? Regular season monsters won't cut it
The fact LeBron is a pass first player makes this even more mind boggling
hes not a pass first player, a pass first player is like, stockton, jason kidd, steve nash, magic, lebron is a insane scorer with insane playmaking/assisting
Haters crying longevity when he’s essentially tied for 3rd in career POINTS PER GAME with Eligin Baylor and Durant!
that isn't as impressive as the fact that MJ is second with less seasons played. Higher scoring % and better playoff stats.
Not in our lifetime probably
Im just waiting for Jordan fans to talk about how Jordan walked on water during his playing days...oh and never lost a game..lol
Never say never . It can be broken as the league gets more focused on the three esp the new generation
How about All-Time Assists record, will it ever be broken?
Doubtful
if the games in a season in the NBA drops to 72 or whatever they were talking about then it'll definitely never get broken
thats what people first said about kareem's record too and yet here we are
KD is probably the closest to coming close to LeBron but is way too injury prone
Exactly
At this point, KD needs to play 435 games and avg 27 ppg just to surpass Kareem. LeBron is still playing, and will add significant numbers to that record. Imagine that. MJ is still the Goat to many people but that is more arguable today than ever before because LeBron has reached new heights that no one has ever been to. And yet, we are not yet talking about his playoffs totals which are off the charts.
kd aint doing shit even if didnt miss a year
lebron, ronaldo, messi, and many of other legendary athletes that I don't know of will probably stand very very long at those records.
Durant won't catch him but be interesting to see if he can also bypass kareem. doubt it. nevertheless like lebron, he has also averaged more than 25 every single season except his rookie year. amazing stats, they're the only 2 in history i think.
Well, its always impossible till it goes on and fcking happens
Aren’t they also talking about shortening the 82 games per season down as well?
Yeah, but I don't see that happening
This record will definitely be broken. Today's league of non existent defense along with stat stuffer type of play, it won't be long
Just a matter of timing. Look at Alexander Ovechkin he has either next season or in 2026 to break Wayne Gretzky's all time goals record.
Maybe one day it’ll be broken, but I don’t see it happening within our lifetimes at all
Luka is young in age/years not in athletic body. Still a joy to watch

Luka already moves and plays like he's 40, so he doesn't have to adapt much when he's actually 40

Ofcourse, there is no 3 point line yet, but it is actually to balance the game for those who are actually who have an disadvantage in size and those who cannot penetrate the rim. So in the rule set out by the creator of the game itself: having a 4 point line might just be unnecessary and will wreck havoc to the league who is already having problems with the players taking so much 3s more so than ever that they are actually not knowledgeable that the founder of the basketball himself encourage shooting more 2s that is actually as efficient as making 3s or 4 points when done consistently.

If Ben Simmons continue his average for this year, he will only need to play the next 55 seasons to break the record. Wow. 🤣
The way the game is played now it will not last like it was with Kareem. Before 40 to 60 or 70pts are being celebrated but now it's becoming a norm.
Teams scoring 130-140 are being celebrated, but now it's becoming a norm.
LeBron got quantity/volume but sadly his numbers didn't translate to winning.
