  • Let's bend this rod. Breaking from expectations, the ‪@MegabassAmerica‬ P5 Destroyer X-Bites proved to be a more nuanced jig rod than its description of being a heavy power, extra-fast action rod would suggest. Initially perceived as ideal for fluorocarbon and jigs, or braid to a leader in jigs for some anglers, the X-Bites features a speedy tip for rapid hook sets. If you want to see it for yourself, Pete bends the rod against our chart and against his decades of experience with fishing rods to find out what the power and action of The X-Bites really is like.

Showing the action of these rods like you are will set you apart from the rest. GOOD JOB 👏🏻

Love that you guys are showing the actions. Literally drives me insane seeing people do rod reviews and not show the actuon and bend profile of a rod.

I’ve been watching all the rod bends and I love the series. This is exactly what we need as consumers. I would like to see some G.Loomis nrx+ rods put to the test. Also some rod weights would also be great.

More NRX+ rods are on the way for sure. And if you all want to hear about how heavy a rod is we can add look into that.

It's an awesome Finesse jig and worm rod.

I use it more for finesse jig dragging cause of softer tip and worm stuff. The FMJ i use more the 1/2 oz stuff.

FMJ is THE jig rod. X-Bites is typically seen as the finesse jig rod.

Just received a new one back from warranty. After breaking the tip on a a pretty light hook set, I’m a bit hesitant to keep it.

I'm curious why someone would still run braid to fluoro when using rods at this caliber? Or are there other benefits to running braid to leader besides increases sensitivity?

Regardless of how advanced the rod is, braid to fluoro has several benefits. Bite detection is one reason. Stretch is another factor. Having a full fluoro or mono spool can make it harder to drive the hook at the end of a long cast. Braid has zero stretch. But hands down, probably the biggest advantage is line management. Braid comes off the spool much easier and doesn't have memory issues like you can get with the other two options. Plus braid lasts a lot longer than the other two. So over time, it could be a cost saver as well. Only replacing the leader often.
