Hey, I think that's really cool that you left in the first approach of the wing guards that didn't work, and the comments on how you'd improve the build if you did it again. When you see people making things online, most of the mistakes are edited out and it seems like makers are flawless super-creators. But you showed us that you're an ordinary person, just like us; and if YOU can do the cool thing, then so can WE!
I would love to see you make some magical girl props like from Sailor Moon with simple tools like this! I've always struggled with more organic/round shapes with simpler tools like this.
To my knowledge, this is the best Master Sword replica ever created. Real metal replica's made by skilled craftsmen are always too skinny because the actual design would make it un-usably heavy, whereas foam replicas often have the proper overall shape, but lack true craftsmanship and look poorly made. This, however, is accurate, usable, and extremely high quality! If there's one thing I'd change, I'd change the color of the blade from the silver it has here to the white-gold it is in later games, but that's purely a matter of personal taste. Also, in addition to using a stronger core, another quality of life improvement would be changing the shape of the grip from circular to ovular or octagonal. A cylindrical grip makes it much easier for your grip to slip, causing you to lose track of the sword's orientation in the hand when you aren't looking, which can cause you to accidentally drop it or, if you're pantomiming a cut, accidentally slap your target with the flat instead of the edge. Ovular or octagonal grips lock the position in place and gives you an instinctual feel for the orientation of the sword in space (this is called edge alignment). This might seem unnecessary for a prop, but it actually makes it feel generally better and easier to handle.
@meleeBird well she says that we can do this at home, but I don't know how to get half of the materials if she's american she probably can find all of this in Walmart, but I dont have walmarts here supermarkets sell only groceries
@teddyboy I only have basic equipment too (dremmel and a heat gun is all I have) . I think the only equipment you really really need and should invest in is a dremmel. With a dremmel you can basically sculpt anything out of foam. Not sure where you live but you can try to source foam online and pipe, metal rod etc can be found in hardware stores or even everyday items. With less equipment it may mean you need to think outside the box a bit or take longer, but still doable. Good luck!
Poor Benni had to paint with a brush 😭😭😭 No, seriously, thank you for your efforts and thank you so much that you make videos using only basic materials! This is incredibly helpful ❤
That's so incredible, great job making Link sword now both sword and shield are ready for battle and maybe comicon, hope to see more crafting in 2020, keep up the great work.
Thank to svetlana and Beni I love their videos kamuicosplay is where I come to watch cosplay making even if I’m not on their level their humor and spirit keeps me coming back oh did I mentioned two of the cutest corgis ever 😍😍
This is amazing. Link is one of my top dream cosplays, and thanks to you, I know how to make the sword and shield. I have yet to get into using foam, but I *have* created a few "Sh*tty" costumes over the years. My 2020 plan is, after building up better healthy habits, start making more "Sh*tty" costumes, until one day, maybe they're not so "Sh*tty" anymore. ("Sh*tty" because of how Svetlana talks about making her first costumes, and how to have confidence in starting out)
dude. I thought my first costume was só good. until I saw the first óther cosplayer on the floor. For the second one I put in more effort, and while it was still a long way off from the quality I wanted, a few people áctually wanted to take my picture. It's really a matter of making a crappy one first, and keep on improving until you say "you know.. it's honestly not crappy anymore".
To Svetlana and Benni and everyone: have super nice holidays and a Great New Year! Thanks for all the hard work and making it seem totally fun and inspiring!
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you using simple tools and products:’D it seems like every other sword tutorial requires woodworking tools and expensive saws, this is so helpful!!! And just in time for me to start making my OoT Adult Link cosplay, thank you so much!
Thank you guys, I can't start to think in the amount of work each and every video of you takes, It's too unfair that you have less viewers that people just talking crap in front of their phones, I wish you the best for 2020
Liebe Svetlana, lieber Benni, ich bedanke mich für die tollen, lustigen sowie lehrreichen Videos diese Jahr, hoffe, ihr hattet schöne Feiertage und wünsche einen guten Rutsch! 😁
Loved the Hylian shield video and now this one as well! Thank you ,Miss Svetlana and Mr Benny! I want to make both props for my wall. You make it look so easy and fun. Thank you for sharing with us!
I just discovered this channel. I'm very impressed with your work and your charming, fun-loving personality makes watching the video even more enjoyable. I'll be going back and watching your previous videos now that I've found you. Fantastic work, Svetlana and Benni.
I liked this video at the beginning. And then I went and hit the button again towards the end... the I realized that all I had done was remove my original like! NOOO!!!! Don’t worry, I fixed it.😉 you guys rock!
Thank you for supplying the prints, it was our first time doing cosplay and you have made it a lot easier, and yes we did it 'cause suffering is fun :D !!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work. Try taking an idea from foam core fiber glass boat building. You take a soft core(foam, wood, etc) with a ridgid shell laminated on both sides. So, make an EVA sandwich laminated to something ridgid and you could make something really sturdy. Ridgid might not be the best term, the exterior shell must resist tension. It can't stretch. Maybe make a 5+ layer sandwich with eva on the outside and core. We took a piece of weak foam and fiber glassed both sides. When I was done, I could jump on it. It did flex some, but it wasn't noodly. I'm 90 Kilo. The carbon rod sounds 90% easier. Glück und Erfolg im neuen Jahr! You are starting to inspire me. It is too bad I have enough projects to see me to summer.
I made this sword (as one of my first props) as birthday present three months ago, this video would've been so helpful xD However I did have your book luckily, it made it a lot easier for me.. so go buy the books yall!! I'm still very proud, especially with the wing thingies. Struggled a lot with them, but the worst was actually the part on the tip of the grip. Daran bin ich echt verzweifelt xD At last it was worth every second of suffering though, as my friend was reeeaaally happy, I've never had such a reaction to a present before! :D So I'm really grateful for all your tutorials and books, I never would've been able to do this without them
Svetlana, does your book help explain things like how thick of a foam you used and what size pvc you used? these details were not explained in the video. thanks for the feedback. love the results tho.
I just found your channel and have been watching your videos for a few hours. Simply fantastic what you guys do, I am amazed. Cheers, from the left edge of Canada.
A big THANK YOU back to you and Benni😄 I really really enjoy your Video's. You both are pretty cool and so smart in front of the camera and I love it 😁 *buy my books*😂 It would be so nice if you upload many interesting Videos next year again. Thank you and see you next year💕💥
I would love to see you get into molding, casting, and maybe more wig making in the future. Petition for Benni to have a cosplay made completely for him? Mandalorian maybe or something he's into? ;) Honestly anything from video games to movies are just fun to watch you guys build.
I started watching your videos just this year, when I got started with my first foam armor. And I want to thank you for all your help. Without you I wouldn’t have managed! I’m really curious what you got in store for us next year! Happy 2020!!!
YOU HAVE AN EEVEE MUG. 💚 Also doubt you'll read/remember but my husband loves the book I ordered, that you very kindly signed for him. He's got a fair few new ideas for props now... Mine first though! 💚 Have a happy and prosperous new year 😊😊

Thanks so much for sharing the blueprint! I might try this out as my very first craft project before I get into armors. Speaking about armors, I have a tricky one coming, with leg protections, from knee to shin to shoe. I would love to see a tutorial about articulating Armor parts to be able to walk (ankle and knee sections)...
I want to try doing this using the foam and fiberglass. Also something to make the handle and the blade a little more sturdy with out adding to much weight.
Great work as always. I like how you kept it simple this time. Best of wishes to you both in the new year and I look forward to seeing all of your work. Thank you for a great year.
Thank you for all wonderful tutorials. You always manage to put me in a better mood and motivate me. Would love to see some staff/wand tutorials. How to make weapon harder, more stable or put it apart would also be welcome. Thank you again and have great holidays ❤
Wow! The sword turned out so cool! I really like all of your content, you are so inspiring! I would love to see if you could make Baby Yoda, it would be so great!
Love the humor in these videos! Not enough Zelda & Midna though, i mean c'mon! They're named for Zelda characters! Wish we saw more detail on carving out those wing handguards too.
Thank you so much Svetlana and Benny !!))) I love your videos! And watching every of them asap when they appearing on channel) Being inspired by you i started craft shield of one anime character I'm gonna cosplay))
Love how she says 2019 is almost over at the start. This was just before the Calamity.
You mean Calamity Ganon or Corona Ganon? Lol

yessss!!
Yes please! Would be a cool alternative to the many video game characters she did this year. I want to see all the anime of my childhood. :D
