How to Pause QuickTime Player Screen Recording on Mac Mojave macOS 10.14.6 2020
1) After starting and recording your screen on Mac with QuickTime Player, move your pointer to the top bar and hover over the stop icon.
2) Then, press ESC (Escape) on your keyboard.
3) Hold [option (alt)] on your keyboard when the QT player panel appears.
4) The Pause [II] symbol will appear on the panel's button.
5) Press the "pause" symbol to pause the recording.
6) Press the button once more to begin recording.
7) To stop recording, press the button.
I recorded this video using a new Mac Screen recording feature that can be started by pressing [Command + Shift + 5]
to record the QuickTime Player Pause feature that is very useful when you make this type of tutorial video.
Hope you find this video helpful and enjoy your video making !!

I just upgraded to Big Sur. This will not work for me. I can start the screen recording but there is nothing letting me stop. I tired everything I could think of. When I click Esc. I just hear a beep sound. I try to click the icon for Quicktime and it shows nothing to allow me to stop.
Same, it's really frustrating for trying to create videos for my team during this work-from-home situation.
@@heatherpalmer5360 me too !
Yeah, that's sad. Apple adopted the ScreenRecorder inside QuickTime Player, which I noticed. I'm now utilizing the #FlexClip free screen recorder in stead. ua-cam.com/video/qqrv9z6ekAg/v-deo.html

Good video! Quick time is one of my favorite apps
Thank you!
thank you!
Doesn't work on Monterey ... hover & esc ... Quicktime panel does not appear!
Thank u
Tried, but doesn't work.
When pressing the Esc-Key the controls panel doesn't appear...
Help plz!
It should work besides MacOS Catalina
thanks
Hi,
Do you have any alternate option to pause the video, it doesn't work for me with "Esc".
macOS Catalina is not working unless Apple update (as you see the comments below)
If ur macOS it not Catalina, plz make sure your cursor is on the stop button then press 'ESC" button that I explain in the video

So there is no solution, unless downgrade to Mojave?
Cannot trigger the "pause" button configuration on Quicktime 10.5 on MacOS X Catalina on the latest MacBook Pro 2020. There is also not the usual floating black control panel, but a new lower selection menu bar. Everything then happens from the brand new "TouchBar" on the keyboard. In short, NO SOLUTION TO PAUSE THE RECORDING OF THE SCREEN.
Thanks for the detailed about the issue. Yeah, MacOS Catalina seems not update the issue yet. They want to you to use a new screenrecorder support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/take-screenshots-or-screen-recordings-mh26782/mac that I used to record this video.
Hey, what music did you use? It sounds really weird. When it played on my laptop speakers it sounded like it wasn't coming from them... weird but cool
Yeah, I like weird stuff. I just found it on UA-cam a royalty-free music library. It called "Destination Unknown" Thanks for commenting : )
@@TeSageDS cool ill have a look. Thank you 😄
Hi, this doesnt work on my mac, my version is 10.15.6. Do you know how to do it with that version. I would really appreciate it if you can help me🙏🏻
Could you be more specific? Did you read other similar comments? Is your MacOS Mojave? It is not working on Catalina. Were u able to hit ESC after start?
@@TeSageDS I have Catalina. It is not working. Why?
Hi, I cannot see this little tool bar after I press "record". It completely disappears and then there is no way to "Pause" the screen recording. I have been trying for days. I have tried to hover the cursor on the "Stop" button in the menu bar at the top and then tried pressing Escape and then Alt, as suggested in the video. Nothing works. Any help?
Right, the control panel will disappear when you start to record. As I showed in the video, move your cursor to the top menu/toolbar and hoover to a stop icon (the circle has square) then hit ESP on your keyboard. The control panel will appear with a grayed stop button to PAUSE.
@@TeSageDS , Nope it doesn't. Been there, done that. Using OS Catalina.
@@ax5310 Oh boy! you updated to macOS Cataline that causes a lot of troubles. Why don't you downgrade to OS Mojave?
Thanks, it works on Catalina. I just press ALT and the pause button appears.
