      @@macmost Gary, WTH happened to the export all the video frames as TIFFs? I saw your bit at the end ab copying a single frame to preview via the clipboard- but that’s not gonna do it… There’s got to be a way, and this removing functions is pretty annoying for media professionals. Do I need a third party app or something?
      Thanks for the great video, BTW.

    Apple is so much better with stock apps than windows. Imagine, Windows apps can‘t probably even do 10 % of what Apple apps can do without needing 3rd party tools. That‘s so great! Thanks for showing it to us Garry!

    Another thing a lot of people are not aware of is that GarageBand can open videos created and/or edited using QuickTime Player or whatever else, make changes to the audio with the power of all the GarageBand facilities and save it back to the video. Came extremely handy recently when I recorded a video using QuickTime Player, the camera in my iMac and a microphone connected via a Scarlett Solo USB interface. Because the microphone is in the first input of the interface the sound is recorded only in the left channel of the video audio track. Once open in GarageBand it's trivial to make it mono so both left and right have the sound, and while there I could easily do a bit of EQ, compression and de-esser and get the level of the audio optimal. Then easily put that audio onto that clip and Bob's your uncle :)

    I'm missing the "Add to Selection and Scale” option from the Edit menu. In Quicktime classic, when audio went out of sync due to editing, you could cut the audio, then put it back using "Add to Selection and Scale” to make it sync correctly. Then select Save (not Export). There's no workaround as the beauty of editing with Quicktime is you don't need to re-compress the video file. Anyway, hoping this option comes back

    Thanks for the nice video’s. Any video’s on how to add subtitels ?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 роки тому +1

      Depends on the type of subtitles. If you want proper subtitles (that can be turned on or off) you would do that using video editing software that had that feature, or subtitle software. But if you want it in something like UA-cam, you simply add the subtitles in the UA-cam interface. If you want something permanently imprinted on the video that can't be turned on or off then just use titles in any video editor, like iMovie.

If I double click my audio file in Finder, Quictime opens it and I have to click one more time in Quicktime play button to start playing the music. I don't think so. But if your goal is to quickly hear the audio file contents, then use Quick Look instead. Select the file and press spacebar. But this won't work well if you want to listen to music. In that case, the Music app is probably a better choice. Why not have your music in your Music App Library -- that's what it is for.

    What version of Quicktime Playing are you using? I've been using 10.4 and it does not have Remove Audio or Remove Video in the menu. Also tried the older Quicktime Player 7.

      Whatever version was current 11 months ago when the video was made. So whatever shipped with macOS Monterey. The current version is 10.5 and I see both of those in the Edit menu when I have a video open that has audio.

    Is there a way to make and automator file that launches a new audio recording in QuickTime and has the volume all the way up? I've tried making a workflow and recording what I do but it fails when I actually try it.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  9 місяців тому

      So in Shortcuts (why use Automator?) You can run an AppleScript that is just "set volume input volume 100" and that sets the input volume to 100%. I assume that's what you mean by "volume." Then use the Record Audio Shortcuts action to record.

    If your movie is a compilation of several clips joined, is it possible to change playback speed (or any A/V control) for each clip separately? For example, I changed playback speed for one clip before adding it, but after I added it to the main movie I was making, the whole movie's speed changed.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Рік тому

      In QuickTime Player, the speed control is just for playback. It doesn't change the video itself. If you want to actually speed up or slow down clips, you'd do that in iMovie.

    Gary what program do you recommend is best to use with mac to do file conversion from .wmv to .mp4?
    I have recently switched to mac and found Quick time doesn't linke .wmv or .AVI file type videos.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Рік тому

      QuickTime Player should be able to handle those, but remember those file types are just containers that can include many different types of videos (different compression types and settings, for instance). So it could just be the one you tried wasn't compatible. If not, maybe something like VLC will do it. But I'd always try QuickTime Player first.

      No, not with the built-in recorder. If you need keyboard shortcuts though perhaps a third-party recording app will do better.

    • @EEEEEE1337
      @EEEEEE1337 Місяць тому

      @@macmost instantaneous screen capturing*. In Quicktime, (as shown) you have to press the "Copy" option (or Ctrl + C), then head over to an image editor app like MS Paint (yes, I am on Windows 10) and paste it there, then got to manually save it as a preffered image-format. But gets you only the resolution you watched it in. (So, if you got 4k footage, but watch it on a 1080p monitor, your copied image will have the 1080p resolution. VLC gets you full-sized images from the footage.)
      In VLC, you just choose your frame you want to screen capture and hit the Shift + S command and get a instantaneous screen capture in your favorite file-format.
      I hope that clears things out for you. Have a nice week!
