  • macmost.com/e-1974 In addition to being able to capture a still image of your Mac's screen, you can easily record your screen to create a video using built-in functionality. The screen capture tool in macOS Mojave and beyond has a variety of options including being able to select an area of the screen, capture microphone audio, and review and edit the video before saving. You can also capture and send immediately in an email or share other ways.

    • @macmost

      Not with this technique. You'll need a 3rd-party app like Screenflow to do that.

    Hi Gary would this work to record Gameplay and what about game audio? I've tried OBS but whatever I try the picture always looks pale and fuzzy ish even on the high OBS settings. I dont have a webcam so I cant use QuickTime. I would love to record World of Warcraft or Diablo 3 but i can never get it looking as perfect as the game, is it something I'm doing wrong because other gamers vids look perfect. Thanks in advance

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 роки тому

      First, you can use QuickTime Player to record the screen, that has nothing to do with having a webcam or not. OBS should work too, not sure why it is "fuzzy" for you -- maybe wok with the settings. There are lots of 3rd-party apps that will record with audio too. Game videos are probably using one of those.

    Is there a way to change the compression? I'd like for the captured video to be uncompressed.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 роки тому

      I'm pretty sure it isn't compressed. Well, lossless compression I mean. But I haven't looked into it. You can always get a third-party screen recording app that offers more options.

    • @macmost

      The app I use does it (Screenflow) but it costs a bit more than what most people want to pay. OBS Project has a method using some other software, but I haven't tried it.

    Hello again Gary. It's your old nemesis back again. Although your tutorial videos are always very informative and professional, they are not totally relevant to Mac OS Ventura. Ventura is a whole new "animal" (which I definitely do not like!). Whereas , for years, I have been very comfortable with Apple's previous Operating Systems, it seems that some "Generation Xer" developer got involved and screwed up everything I (actually "we") have been familiar with for years. (It's called "change".........and not "change" for the better - more like "change" for the mere sake of "change"). Whereas, the procedure for this operation, in Mac OS Monterey, is very straightforward and uncomplicated, getting to the same objective on Ventura require more steps and is overly complicated. I don't know what Apple's objective is with their new OS but the only conclusion I can come to is; to make things more obfuscated, more time consuming and frankly, MORE FRUSTRATING for the user. [ Btw- I wish UA-cam permitted the use of simple HTML coding, like Bold, Italic and Underline ] Thanks sharing Gary.

    To be able to only record computer sound AND be able to hear what the computer is playing do the following:
    1. Go to Audio MIDI Setup, then click on the " + " then Create Multi-Output Device. Change the name to whatever you want.
    2. Under "USE" check the Built-in Output and iShowUAudio Capturer. Under "Drift Correction" only check the Built-in Output. for the "Master Device:" put iShowUAudio Capturer.
    3. Go to System Preferences => Sound => Output then pick the one you recently made (Whatever you made it).
    4 Launch QuickTime, then pick New Screen Recording, then use the triangle drop-down and select "iShowUAudio Capturer."
    Then record! Once you are done, make sure to save and then go back to Sound (in System Pref.) and then to Output and pick headphones, or what you originally used.
    NOTE: Using this method will not allow you to control the volume, so before doing step 3. make sure to lower it to a decent amount. ALOS, this only works if you listening via a headphone. I don't think it will be able to play sound from the device.
    I hope this helps! I found this out from watching this video and the comments left in the Comment section! Thank you.
