Situation is usually the deciding factor on whether player will grow and become a star. Thats why we usually see all the same teams in the lottery unsuccessful. Also Donyell had a great career despite being labelled a bust. I wouldnt call him a bust at all. Alot of this is just incorrect.
That's the problem with players been around 6'10, 6'11 back then not been physical players but target mostly shooting 3s. Brian Cook was another one. And the problem on top of that was they were not specialist 3point shooters like Korver some what.

I think of Donyell as a less physical version of Melo than AD. To me, the best comparison for AD is Rasheed Wallace if Sheed actually cared more. Although Sheed less soft than AD.
i see it a little, but id actually say donyell was a smaller, less physical rasheed. They moved a lot alike and had a similar skillset. But, donyell was a little chubbier, not as tall...but had a better jumper. Sheed was also not as soft as donyell

Would have fit in really well into the NBA today as a 3 and D forward with an above avergae outside shot who could also protect the rim. Developed as a rebounder later in his career too with Utah.

This guy was a quality role player who earned his money. He wasn't an all star but he was an original floor spacing big. I say he was underrated.
