@Malaki727 It's also back when men played the game. Today's players are simply unlikeable. They're selfish, self absorbed and soft. Imagine a guy today playing hurt like Patrick did?
Not to mention Worthy and Perkins.Check the lineup: PG: Jimmy Black SG Jordan SF Worthy, PF Perkins C Ewing.....who beats THAT team? A front line of 6'9", 6'10" with a 7'5" reach and the most intimidating 7 footer in college history.
Growing up a fan of the terrible New Jersey Nets I always hated the Knicks. When I say hate, I mean hate with a passion too. But even with a Knicks hater, Patrick Ewing has the total respect of any NBA fan watching the game in his era. This guy was a legend and did everything right. It's a shame he doesn't have a few rings, he certainly deserved a couple of them. Poor guy was always surrounded by overhyped barely average players.
I think Patrick Ewing is one of the most underrated players of all time honestly. It's weird how a top 50 all time guy can be a top 50 underrated at the same time too. A few of those 90's centers are really underrated imo. Alonzo Mounring and especially David Robinson are also underrated. I really loved all those great 90's centers. My fav era tbh.
@Will Clinton as much as I respect Ewing it is true that Hakeem and Shaq were better. David Robinson was probably better too but not by much, an argument can really be made there. Robinson always had a much better supporting cast than Patrick.
This one is simple. HE PLAYED IN THE JORDAN ERA!!! Had his shot against Houston came up short. End of story. As a side note: he came into the league when the East was ruled by Boston and Detroit. Great career, NO STUNTED GROWTH. He had to deal with better players and better teams.
@@dontdoittoyoself6786 awww.. that's cute... Olajuwon won the Finals MVP while averaging 27/9/4/4... but those % numbers you threw out there sure tell the whole story.. hahahaha. Hakeem was 25/10/7/3 in that Game 7 while Ewing was 17/10/1/2... but focus on that fg% buddy
Stunted Growth: Early 90s Knicks 1. Never could find a true SF/3 2. Late to the Bad Boy Piston Imitation Game / Late to the NBA changes in the 90s 3. Inconsistent PG Play. 4. Lack of outside shooting
Also: lack of an offensive game plan. It was almost always "Ewing or bust" they had no movement and took forever to get into their offensive sets. You would think the former coach of the showtime Lakers would be able to implement a somewhat decent offensive scheme.
This video details Patrick Ewing's Hall of Fame career respectfully. Of course he fell short against the likes of the great Michael Jordan and the amazing Hakeem Olajuwon if you look at his career. But one thing was for certain, Patrick indeed displayed his tremendous heart night in and night out. And as a Knicks fan, I will always respect that. The 1999 1st round playoff series against the Miami Heat displayed that heart. Hobbling up and down the court. Patrick had no business being on that floor throughout that 5 game series. Knicks don't beat the Heat without him. He still outplayed his fellow Hoya Destroyers in Mourning and Mutombo during those 1999 playoffs on one leg.
My aunt went to high school with him. I asked her if she remembered him & she said he was a quiet kid but obviously very tall so he was very noticeable. Also mentioned he wasn't too cute either so she paid him no mind. Told her you missed your golden ticket. Smh
The 1997 New York Knicks ruined everything. That Brawl in the 1997 playoffs vs the Miami Heat. That was when the Knicks started to decline. That was Ewing's last healthy season too!
I have a SONICS 33 EWING jersey! I was SO excited when we traded for Pat Ewing. I knew that he wasn't the 25ppg guy anymore, but I thought that he could have been 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks for us.
If he had a player as good as Pippen he’d have at least two rings. In 94, Hakeem was just better. But the Knicks still took them to 7. I’m glad I was young in 94 because Idk how you can get over a game 7 finals loss.
Patrick Ewing did not get his ring, because the Knicks got the worst ownership in professional sports!!! How rings the Knicks got since Pat left ~ remember the Georgetown years. The four years Pat was at Georgetown the greatest college basketball team of all times! He took Hakeem to school! Respect!
Biggest stunt was the end of the real King of NY. If Ewing had King by his side, the NBA may have gotten it's goal, another 💍 in the biggest market. Must have been karma? NY seems cursed. Even the Nets 🤣

Great video man I really got a good perspective on Ewing , I slowdown though he was amazing and in any other era he’d help get a ring , but Jordan took 6 years out many talent players prime , and those who came in the 80s had to deal with LA , Boston , Detroit , then Chicago , it was a tough time to try and get a ring
Ewing WAS NOT A LOSER. He had good teammates. He had good to great coaches. They just lost to teams that was better/or had momentum on thier side. You mention EWING in NY or in any NBA circles it demands RESPECT. That man played his heart out!
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. A stiff, who didn't have cable TV until I was 18, so my NBA viewing was unfortunately limited to national games, and Sonics road games.
Hell no just give him the credit and respect that he deserve he was definitely a game changer for ever from George Town days till the day he retired jorden was always the man to beat but also had role players the Knick’s didn’t have much he work with what he had don’t forget in 94 he played the most minutes of his career fourty plus and he didn’t have any back up players I still feel his pain also he could of left to go to the suns with barkey but he said no and stayed loyal till he got trayed 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Imagine how hyped Dwight howard was....imagine all the gifts dwight had... Now that you have that image, give him a mid-range jumper, better hands, better awareness, better footwork, more toughness and a better off-hand...that's PAtrick Ewing. It Pat Ewing came into the league in the mid-2000s like Dwight, Pat would be looked at like the next Shaq. Always got love for Ewing. Wish he had better luck. Imagine if he somehow was a Spur with TD, PArker, Bowen, Manu, etc...instead of David Robinson. If i analyze his whole game on both ends... i dont know if I have ever seen a player like him. He was like if you made Karl Malone a 7' center. LeBron's best type of sidekick is low-key an athletic big who set great screens, catches every pass, rolls smartly and finishes on both sides with either hand, but can also hit pick and pop jumpers. Look in 2003, LeBron and Boozer, two young dudes, ran Pick and Roll like veterans. It was fun to watch. Then, LeBrons best sidekick in three straight playoffs was ANDERSON VAREJAO who he always hit on pick and rolls. I wish he could have played with a more dynamic big, earlier... like if Boozer stayed, if Amare went to CLE, if Bosh was more of a threat to dunk anytime on anyone, instead of mainly being a 18 foot threat in MIA. I think LeBron's best fit out of all the historic teams to this date, in my opinion, would have been to take Steve Nash's place at PG of the Suns with Amare, Shawn, Joe Johnson, etc...if he has all those shooters and a roll man like Amare....nobody would have ever seen anything like that. My off-topic-ass point is, Pat Ewing would have been fun to watch with LeBron. He could have tossed it to him in the post and had hiim get his own, he could have found himinside on PnRs or he could have him spread the floor with 15-20 foot jumpers Sorry, this is what happens when youre a millenial basketball fan from Akron. You imagine what it would have been like if LeBron played with _______ or ________.
I mean, name a current player avg 25, 10, and 3blks. You can't. Ewing did that over a 6 year average. Hakeem did it even more than that. These type of greats don't exist anymore.
You forgot stunted #4 2-18 i wont say that person name still hurts and takes me back to being 10 and crying lol but even tho Ewing didn't win a ring i still think hes too good for this even tho i did enjoy the video lol

You do know that Pat played most of the 1994-1995 season on a bad leg, right? That layup against the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals had nothing to do with heart. His leg finally gave up on him and he couldn’t get up high enough to where that would’ve been a usual dunk of Pat’s.
I don't know about the not enough around him stuff during his prime stuff, that really is a Jordan thing. The Knicks mid 90s were loaded and good enough to get to the Finals. Starks was no scrub and could catch fire at any moment. Derek Harper was solid, Greg Anthony. Their front court was crazy strong. Always loved Anthony Mason. Ewing will always be considered a winner even with no chip.
As a Knick fan from that era, when we needed him the most he failed us. If they would have beaten Houston for the ring, Derek Harper was the one who was putting that work in. Second chance against the Spurs sadly his body failed him, eventually failing us. And he was shitty teammate. He could check his team but his team couldn't check him. That's buh'shit. No roses for him only advice, "YOU GOTTA DUNK THAT SHIT!!! Let's go Knicks!!!
As a former New Yorker, and current Knicks fan, Patrick Ewing did not win a ring because of teammates. Patrick never had his Scottie Pippen! Personally, I think Charles Oakley was an overrated bum! We needed an enforcer who can score. On the offensive end it was five on four basketball because Oakley's lack of offensive made it easier for teams to double team Patrick. Furthermore, the Knicks should have kept Rod Strickland and traded Mark Jackson because Strickland having the ball in his hand would have made the Knicks a more balanced team and play at a faster pace instead of waiting for Ewing to get in the post on every possession. It's hard to win in the playoffs when you rely on one person to win games for 20 years. No knock on Mark Jackson but he was too slow and a defensive liability
It was a damn shame what happened to him...he never had a legitimate shot when he was in his prime..MJ shattered a lot of dreams, and EWING was a victim... which goes to show why people considered MJ the GOAT..but I digress.. because the KNICKS were just dumb..how you have a generational talent in the mecca of basketball and not give this man the tools to beat teams back then?..the man was a WARRIOR who deserved better...much respect to MR.EWING..he is still a winner..and his story is a testement of heart and determination and shows why he is a great coach..
Ewing kept losing for the exact same reasons Malone, Stockton, Barkley, and many other superstars never won a ring. Ewing is not more of a loser than anybody else. he never had another great player in his team. there is 30 teams and only one can win the title at the end of the playoffs. one team win, every other lose. so when a single team won 6 in 8 years, there is not a lot of room for all the other superstars....
But unlike all the other names you mentioned Pat played with the least amount of talent for a superstar, possibly of all time. Ewing doesn’t get the credit for doing basically what AI & LeBron did in 2001 & 2007, but for his entire career.
@@johnnyblingg Excellent takes on your part. What AI and Lebron did for those seasons you mentioned were amazing NBA moments. Ewing although he fell short of that coveted ring, had amazing moments throughout his career. I think fans almost forget that an old Patrick Ewing was still able to match or even exceed a prime Alonzo Mourning statistically when the Knicks took "3-out-of-4" of those playoff series against those Miami Heat teams from 1997-to-2000. Those Miami Heat teams were considered superior to the NY Knicks on paper.
@@toddsands6000 That’s why I don’t get the Ewing slander. If anything I think for what he’s done for his career he should be ranked ahead of some of his peers. Like to me, Ewing is better than David Robinson, Karl Malone, Stockton, and (even tho he’s my favorite player) Chuck, etc. Ewing brought NY to the Finals twice and he did it with less talent than The Dream, and is tied with Stockton and Malone for Finals appearances, which is also 1 more than Barkley. And i can’t reiterate it enough, Ewing kept the Knicks competitive for almost his entire NY career, with virtually no real talent, at least offensively. The best center of the 90s to me were Hakeem, Shaq, and Ewing. Tim Duncan saved David Robinson’s career.

Knicks up 3-1 on the Heat until David Stern f's things up by suspending half the Knicks squad allowing the Heat to go get steamrolled by the Bulls. Knicks were a THREAT that year!! Jordan said it himself.
What were they suspended for? 😳
@@blackdragon6 Leaving the bench during a brawl
Yea. PJ Brown flipped Charlie Ward is what started it. And for the young cats, look up Charlie Ward on the football field. Back then, NFL teams were blind to his talent which absolutely made no sense at all. He was a special 2 sport star at FSU and was a solid NBA player for years. Respect to Charlie Ward.
I rate Ewing the greatest Knick Ever!!
@Areray, A good argument can certainly be made that Patrick is the greatest player to wear a Knicks jersey.
People will never realize MJ was thorn in Ewing’s side for 2 decades crazy
It always amazes me when people unlike your content. You obviously put in the work as far as research, knowledgeable of the game, editing be on point... what's to unlike??
Micheal hunted Patrick through out his whole career , college and pro's!!
Back when nba players actually stayed in college and worked
@Malaki727 It's also back when men played the game.
Today's players are simply unlikeable. They're selfish, self absorbed and soft. Imagine a guy today playing hurt like Patrick did?
Thank you for this!!! The truth finally told. Patrick really didn't have help. Knicks giving up on Bernard King...smh
Charles Smith...smh
Remember being super excited when the Knicks got Xavier McDaniel but he only lasted 1 season with them. Then there's Jordan.
The reason why he kept losing was because the Knicks management never put the proper players around him.
As a Knicks I agree
Yep, their second best player during his prime was John Starks. Not a scrub but not on Ewing’s level.
@@bjnt922 It worst than that.
I honestly believe Oakley was the second best player on those teams
I remember when the knicks let Xavier McDaniel leave for Boston after the 92 playoffs…that was the worse move made by the knicks…
@@beezy22 And who replaced him? Charles “Blocked Again” Smith 😄
Wow if Ewing went to Carolina and played with Jordan would of been crazy
No Michael Jordan, No Reggie Miller equals Patrick Ewing Championship
Reggie Miller never won a ring.
@@vaughnreedjr6592 He prevented Patrick Ewing from going to the Eastern Conference Finals buddy
@@vaughnreedjr6592 Reggie never got a ring but prevented Patrick from a chance at getting one.
Those of us in the NYC area knew how much Ewing meant...unfortunately in the 90s he was the 4th center behind Hakeem, Shaq, and David Robinson
@Will Clinton as much as I respect Ewing it is true that Hakeem and Shaq were better.
David Robinson was probably better too but not by much, an argument can really be made there. Robinson always had a much better supporting cast than Patrick.
If Starks made just 30% of his field goals in game 7, we wouldn't rank Hakeem above Ewing...
All spot on points. Let's get one of these on reggie miller.
Stunt #1= MJ
Top 2 reasons why Ewing never won at least one if not more championships are...
1. Michael Jordan
2. Hakeem Olajuwon
3. Bad Knees....and this goes all the way back to Georgetown!
Cassell was ballin too so it ain’t that simple.
@@dontdoittoyoself6786 I stand behind what i said... it's that simple to me
@@Boss3Nate People lie numbers don’t. Olajuwon went 10-25 (.400 fg%)game 7. Patrick Ewing went 7-17 (.412 fg%) game 7.
@@dontdoittoyoself6786 awww.. that's cute... Olajuwon won the Finals MVP while averaging 27/9/4/4... but those % numbers you threw out there sure tell the whole story.. hahahaha. Hakeem was 25/10/7/3 in that Game 7 while Ewing was 17/10/1/2... but focus on that fg% buddy
Stunted Growth: Early 90s Knicks
1. Never could find a true SF/3
2. Late to the Bad Boy Piston Imitation Game / Late to the NBA changes in the 90s
He's still the best jump shooting center of all time. Only David Robinson is even close.
Best KNICK of all time!! And Definitely one of the top 6 centers ever!!
my favorite player. just never had that no 2 guy..
i love your videos! Keep making them
This video details Patrick Ewing's Hall of Fame career respectfully.
1 of my all time favorites
THANKS FOR THE SPOTLIGHT ON MY FAVORITE PLAYER. JOHN STARKS AND CHARLES OAKLEY WOULD BE GREAT TOPICS FOR YOU
If he had a player as good as Pippen he’d have at least two rings. In 94, Hakeem was just better. But the Knicks still took them to 7. I’m glad I was young in 94 because Idk how you can get over a game 7 finals loss.
Which reminds me.. Knicks management gave up on Bernard King way too early. Imagine Ewing with King at the wing.
Fr. It would have gave the bulls problems and much better chance
I'm from south central Los Angeles but I'm a 90s Knicks fan , yea I said it 😭
Stunted growth man I enjoy your videos bro you should have way more subscribers than this but you heading there first time I see your video I was like this brother can work on ESPN for real but the reason why I'm coming in again I like you to do Marlene otty but yeah Patrick Ewing is and will be the greatest knicks
Patrick’s Knicks lost to Michael’s bulls in
1989 ECSF (4-2)
1991 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals (3-0)
1992 ECF (4-3)
1993 ECF (4-2)
1996 ECSF (4-1)
this channel is so underrated
The Ultimate Warrior. My favorite player of all time together with A. I.
One of your longest, appropriate intros...
Salute J.C.
Dope video. Is Charles barkley growth was stunted?
Ewing WAS NOT A LOSER. He had good teammates. He had good to great coaches. They just lost to teams that was better/or had momentum on thier side. You mention EWING in NY or in any NBA circles it demands RESPECT. That man played his heart out!
Bernard king was the damn man. People forget about him but he was one of the best ever.
Whatever that was with the wizards lol
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. A stiff, who didn't have cable TV until I was 18, so my NBA viewing was unfortunately limited to national games, and Sonics road games.
Ewing is a warrior...he played through so many injuries. I think the biggest stunt was of course MJ and not having a consistent 2nd scorer/star
Is this series about legends and the best teams who never won a championship?
Basically. Even great players have had Growth Stunts. The point is, they kept going and overcame their hurdles and became great.
We love you, Patrick!
Ewing on stunted. Growth. Had to check this out
Do John starks from the New York Knicks
Hell no just give him the credit and respect that he deserve he was definitely a game changer for ever from George Town days till the day he retired jorden was always the man to beat but also had role players the Knick’s didn’t have much he work with what he had don’t forget in 94 he played the most minutes of his career fourty plus and he didn’t have any back up players I still feel his pain also he could of left to go to the suns with barkey but he said no and stayed loyal till he got trayed 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Thanks for putting respect on Pat Ewing but you forgot to mention he released his own independent shoe before everyone as well :) #EwingFan4ever
Can you do episode on Greg Monroe why is he out of Nba?
That layup Jordan hit over Ewing 😂😂😂I always imagined what that would be like if he dunked it instead
Jordan is petty 😂😂😂
First word: finger roll
He could have tossed it to him in the post and had hiim get his own, he could have found himinside on PnRs or he could have him spread the floor with 15-20 foot jumpers
Sorry, this is what happens when youre a millenial basketball fan from Akron. You imagine what it would have been like if LeBron played with _______ or ________.
Pat Ewing was one of my favorite centers
It's pronounced Al-o-wishes
Came here to say this
I mean, name a current player avg 25, 10, and 3blks. You can't. Ewing did that over a 6 year average. Hakeem did it even more than that. These type of greats don't exist anymore.
Mark Jackson wasn’t a problem in NY, if anything they should’ve kept him and Xavier McDaniel after the 1992 season.
Riley traded Mark because he wasn't strong on defense. He wanted a PG who could defend.
Starks was solid.
I think he was better than solid but he let that block game 6 affect him. He lost some his explosiveness with a knee injury too.
Why he couldn’t lead the Knicks to a title can be summed up with 4 names.
Hakeem Olajuwon
Michael Jordan
Reggie Miller
Tim Duncan
Michael Jordan
Hakeem Oujawon
Reggie Miller
Tim Duncan
The last 2 names should be John Stark's and Pat Riley
Not true
Reggie Miller no
Tim Duncan nooo
1-Michael Jordan & Reggie Miller in the East
2- Hakeem Olajuwon in 1994
3- Injuries near the last seven years of his career
We can't wait to watch the case of Jerry's bayless
Time for Barkley next
1. Jordan 2. Olajuwon (top 2 stunts)
You forgot stunted #4 2-18 i wont say that person name still hurts and takes me back to being 10 and crying lol but even tho Ewing didn't win a ring i still think hes too good for this even tho i did enjoy the video lol
Could you imagine the league, bask turn, not being so committed to one team....
Like Ewing going to Indiana for rik smits?
Big Pat!!!
Man the Knicks either had tooo many power forwards or too many point guards Ewing didn’t win because he didn’t team up with Reggie Miller and Barkley to take on the bulls lol man them Hoyas team were tough what’s crazy is I always thought Georgetown was a hbcu because of the basketball team lol I was a kid
First thing that comes to mind: Bulls, Cavs, 76ers and Knicks.
Is in the HOF?
Yes

1995 Eastern Conference Semifinals
Pacers Vs Knicks
🧏🏿♂️ hey Tom he was tryna say Aloysius, pronounced A low wishes but instead said A loy zius....wording truly is hard 🤷🏾♂️🤣
u should do a video on joe barry carroll or roy tarpley bcoz they didn’t succeed nearly as much as ewing
Bro, do Tracy McGrady 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Patrick Ewing = Knicks
I had no idea he lost to Michael in college too as I was to young but I do remember him in New york...damn mj stop so many greats from winning
When I hear Patrick Ewing I think of Killer Miller
When Eye hear Patrick Ewing, Keith Sweat comes to mind 1st😂
