Really underrated player that you always felt could’ve been better. Had All-Star level skills! And you can’t forget that from 2K10 to 2K14 he was a menace to play against 😂
The creator of this channel is spot on. I always felt Corey Maggette left Duke too early. I will further state that if Corey Maggette went to another basketball school other than Duke, his basketball game would reach higher levels. If Corey went to a school like Wake Forrest, he would have been a solid starter averaging well over 25 ppg. That would have made arguably the first pick in the draft. I feel that guys with Corey's skill would benefit with two years of college under their belt. But I definitely don't blame these guys leaving early for guaranteed 1st round money.
Wow... I swear I was sitting in traffic about 2 hours about thinking about this channel and who I'd like to see a profile/study done on next and Corey Maggette was who I thought of. THEN on top of that .. this video pops up on my screen 2 hours later. Google/UA-cam are scary.
I remember that duke game when he slapped the backboard, they gave him a tech,I said ewww that boy a freshman too ,I knew then he had potential, his athleticism was so high.
My ex-wife's parents were both teachers at Duke and because of that we got season tickets to all the games. We divided them up with this other guy for some of the games we couldn't make but we saw all the big games and this is from about 1998 till about 2004. We used to sell the UNC tickets for $1,500 a piece and we had two of them and that was our vacation every year so I got to see a lot of young Duke basketball players. And I remember in one of the scrimmage games watching Corey maggette running the court and Dunking the basketball in a way that I'd only seen Grant Hill able to do. The dude was a crazy athlete but he was inconsistent and took a lot of dumb shots. He was so athletic that he would put himself in bad positions because he could almost always get himself out of it but he left Duke after 1 year and he wasn't even a starter as I remember. I think he was coming off the bench and getting 10-15 minutes a game but he left after his freshman year. Now this was a time where only the elite left after their freshman year so you'd have maybe 10-15 guys from all of college basketball going into the draft most guys are sophomores or juniors. I could be remembering it wrong but that's how I remember it now. I remember the start of his pro career he was doing okay but he was still that same guy who had all the athleticism in the world but didn't have a really good basketball mind. Sometimes being really athletic can be a hindrance to you because you don't develop your shot or you don't develop the hustle you might need because you've always been the best athlete on the court. Well when you get to the NBA you may still be a good athlete but there's going to be a lot of other guys out there too that can dunk and jump and swap balls just as good as you can and those guys might have developed their shot. Kind of lost track of Corey but I know that he didn't have the career that people were thinking he might have.

@@Brian00007 With the benefit of Hindsight 20/20 (which I'm the King of), should the Sonics have kept Maggette? We basically gave him away, so that we could dump some "bad contracts" (Billy Owens, Don MacLean). Still, for a potential star player, from DUKE, that was a high price to pay.
Do rudy gay next
I remember when I first got into basketball that Christmas in 2004 I got a Lakers Kobe jersey and a Clippers Maggette jersey.
I liked them both as individual players but I eventually chose to root fully for the Lakers in 2006 because Kobe was Kobe.
Really underrated player that you always felt could’ve been better. Had All-Star level skills! And you can’t forget that from 2K10 to 2K14 he was a menace to play against 😂
Please do one on Michael Redd
Do one on The Alaskan Assassin next. He’s my favorite Dukie all time.. and met him a few times since being the GM of the pelicans.
Do WR Martavius Bryant?
The creator of this channel is spot on. I always felt Corey Maggette left Duke too early. I will further state that if Corey Maggette went to another basketball school other than Duke, his basketball game would reach higher levels. If Corey went to a school like Wake Forrest, he would have been a solid starter averaging well over 25 ppg. That would have made arguably the first pick in the draft. I feel that guys with Corey's skill would benefit with two years of college under their belt. But I definitely don't blame these guys leaving early for guaranteed 1st round money.
Me and the crew were talking college basketball earlier . Some dudes came up I'd love to see A stunted growth on . Do you remember the O'bannons ?
Please do Norris Cole!!
He was a budget Vince Carter
I was unstoppable with the Warriors 2k10. Even Ronny Turiaf was a beast down low
Gotta do Langdon
lol at KMart and Magette instantly swinging at each other
2:15 people don’t understand how vicious that was
When I lived in OC, Maggette went to my barbershop. Dude looks like a NFL Tight end in person
Do Mobley.
He’s the reason I became a clippers fan 😍
I stopped reading at “My ex-wife’s parents”
@@holdmyweight3597 why would you waste your time trying to write something that is so borderline trying to be funny but non-committal and cooler than you are? That's just dumb 😭.
1:47 dang I’ve completely forgot about the Alaskan assassin , Langdon was that guy at duke, wonder what happened to him.
Could we get a vid on Kedrick Brown?
You done cuttino Mobley?
Slam dunk contestant Corey Maggette!
Loved how Kenyon Martin wanted all that smoke. He wasn’t grabbing or pushing, he came up hood swinging.
*I met him at the airport in Chicago. He was a little scarce since I'm from Chicagoland, just like he is. I just wanted to chit chat. MY BAD = if Shawn Marion is the most friendly, personable athlete on the Planet and everybody else isn't*
Dude was fly with it is that future plans
