2 hours is about right, that's what i need for most of them if i happen to be around.
Honestly? With the HQ cap getting pulled off quite early, i think it's pretty winnable. You have, what, 4 properties to park unit's on, including 1 HQ? That's an awful lot of tankyness, against a rather limited enemy force, once you pick off a few tanks and artillery. With Proper targeting and positioning, and some good luck, could be able to just sorta win.

Well Neil can stretch her Line of Defense to accommodate 3 attacks in one go. So yeah it's possible.
This looks easier than some of the other impossible challenges.

I've got a fun challenge if anyone would like to try... Go to the AW2 pre-deployed maps and choose Grid Assault. I chose one CO from each camp and I chose one's who didn't have any infantry weaknesses so I chose Olaf for Blue Moon, Drake for Green Earth, and Kanbei for Yellow Comet. Have all of them on the same team and you'll be playing as Orange Star... I think the only CO from orange star that could MAYBE stand up to this challenge would be Max but probably not... I DID manage to pull off a victory using Sturm... mainly because of his terrain ignorance, but it was a complicated mess and it came down to basically a war of attrition.
2 more, and everyone gets Pizza & Fries.

Impossible Challenge for Mangs: Beat the four final maps from Super Famicom Wars (Shark Strait, Royal Channel, Countdown, Final Battle)
My challenge ... beat hot pursuit hard mode in aw2 with 3 FLAKS ... one rule you have to let Sturm through, you are NOT allowed to block him, and instead of destroying the cannons, you must route all of Sturms units
The different unit load out is a very interesting thing about the first game. I’m not sure if I found out myself or from Ephraim
Yeah, I found that out when playing a Versus game with my cousin a few months ago. As Max, I started with anti air and even a Medium tank, while he had a few artillery (he picked Grit). I let him win it, don't worry.

The challenge was beaten in 3 hours.
I like it that Nell has the Nicaragua flag (that may be the flag of several other countries, but I don't care, I'm from Nicaragua, let me dream).
So, he took out one of the three, but was still no match for TWO MEN.
I was going to make a joke about how it wouldn't last a day and old man egg is going senile, but it was beat by the time I saw the upload :)

1 vs 3 cpus is sometimes harder to play against 1 human on some maps. Cpus are wierd with their movement and attack strategies and leave some of their more expensive units vulnerable to getting ganged up on. Yeah, as Mangs says HQ capture is your best bet.
Funny enough, the War Room Challenge pre deployed maps has this XD I think it’s why during the Rivals map, I used Drake since he started out with 2 cruisers
At work, but…. Challenged accepted XD I think… funny enough, there is a way and if the AI did it in a specific way. I won’t be able to try it right away, but I’ll experiment on it when I get the chance

You know, maybe the whole Switch AI argument aged like milk XD Here I'm thinking of different possibilities where the challenge is "impossible" (or at the very least extremely hard), but the AI (at least in AW 1-2) is what makes it possible XD
One of those said challenges is the Orange Star Factory mission in AW2. Like, you start out EXTREMELY small and your enemy is making units left and right. Your only hope is to break the seam and that's it, but... what if you try to rout the enemy instead? And then I'm just thinking about the AIs behavior and well... I'm like it can be possible XD
I'll try to experiment it on the Switch version, but it almost feels like (at this point) that the Switch's AI is waaaaaay better than in AW 1-2 x.x

I don't think I've seen Nell's CO expressions in AW1 before, very cute.
Such a shame they didn't have those in AW2.
The creators of advance wars were butthurt about the allies beating Japan in ww2 so they made kanbei a S rank tier CO and Nell a stereotypical blonde woman who only wins by luck. Then they made orange star's senior CO a Japanese American war veteran as if to say "See? Can't even win without Japanese of your own."
Wouldn't be supprised. They don't teach their youth about what Japan was up to in the first half of the 20th century. "And for no reason at all, NO REASON AT ALL, the United States nuked us twice."
One issue though. Kanbei is officially an idiot. An honorable idiot, but an idiot nontheless. Meanwhile, Nell does have a decent head on her shoulders despite the lucky power.
@@Teknanam TBF the Emperor being there mostly for morale purposes and looking honorable is how even Japan itself portrays his involvement in WW2.
Nell also reminds me a little of Nimitz, who was a competent Admiral but also had the great luck of 1. passing up on the post for Pearl Harbor in 1941 and thus was not in command when the raid happened; and 2. betting it all on Midway and scoring big due to hilarious hijinks involving US planes being repeatedly at the right place for the wrong reasons.

The only way one of these challenges is going to be unbeatable is when the player starts as Grimm, with a regular tank stuck in range of a hostile mega tank, and a base within range of 2 hostile bombers.

hi! how does a complete newcomer get into advance wars? it seems really fun and interesting, if you have any advice on how/what to play and what order to take it in that would be much appreciated :)
My advice is just start and play around with the CO and learn about their daily bonuses and powers. Look up all the stats, info, and get -used- use to the game mechanics.
