The reason six-tower Javier doesn't become invincible is because Tower Power only applies to firepower bonuses - it doesn't give Javier 5% extra defense per tower as well. Therefore, with six towers Javier ends up with 190/180, not 190/210 as you might expect. Still, with all of the forests, properties, and mountains around those chokepoints, he might as well be invincible. Oh, if only Sturm were available to choose in this game.
Lash/Sami seems like the way to go. Instacapping the com towers means all the challenge goes bye bye. Just build up a wall of infantry and expensive units and let them die until you can tag. Lash can zoom across the mountains and Sami can cap the towers. Seems doable in theory maybe
I thought so too. But Javier is shielding the mountains with lots of troops. You get blocked hard, unless you manage to get rid of some, which is literally impossible in the woods or on mountains.
This is an easy mission, to be honest, much easier than the last. I had my DS on hand so I took a crack right after watching. Recons in DS give gross amounts of charge for their cost (an entire star) so by spamming/sacking them asap with Hachi SCOP you can just build recons, APCs, infantry, and megas in the back cities to deny the side towers just before the infantry reach them. From there just spam mega tanks from the factories with COP. Having a second CO was unnecessary, but I went with Rachel since her SCOP is devastating in the conditions given on this map (small, choky, low funds). I almost won by route if not for my final luck roll leaving Javier's solitary remaining tank at 1 HP, forcing me to settle for the HQ cap I'd been whittling down with my Hachi squad.
Hachi could be good on this map too. He could deploy units over towards the cities and begin putting pressure against the Com towers off the sides and if done well enough would probably make the AI have to focus on keeping his HQ in check.
I’m pretty sure I saw someone play almost this exact scenario on a stream a few years ago as one of several joke runs. They used solo Grit, and the battle was long and grueling, but eventually, Grit’s massive income allowed him to start edging Javier off the map. His direct units have less firepower, but their defense is the same, so they served as shields long enough for Grit to get his critical mass
i guess you could use hachi or sensei powers to grab the com towers on the sides without having to go through the choke to prevent the 6 towers, or something like an adder/sami tag from the bottom middle mountain to 1 turn cap the hq.
yeah using hachis scop and try to sneak around from the flanks. probably sack units early on to get an army on the flanks early enough to prevent all 6 com towers
Thinking about it...best way would probably be to blitz him with Hachi/Sami. Hachi for the lower unit costs and extra-short CO meter without Colin's power reduction, Sami for capturing the Comm towers. Start with Hachi, get out APCs and Infantry, then get the best units your money can reasonably buy. Break them on Javier until you can get your Tag, then rush the APCs and infantry out. Using your tag, get your Infantry and Victory March for the central Comm Towers immediately. And if you can hold two, you can push through. And if you managed to get the two cities on the chokepoints, all the better. And of course, all of this before he captures the two comm towers at the top. If you can somehow manage it before he begins capping them, you're in prime condition to capture the full center and win.
Hachi + colin would do the job. Hachi can organize an assault on 2 com towers from flanks. Colin with his both powers will stack money up and will make a devastating push with power of money.
@@CascaDEER no. He does not have the firepower to do the job. You need a couple of neotanks + artillery on the flanks to push on to the com towers. Sensei will just spawn infantry that will just stall the enemy. When colin will get his power of money, sensei infantry will not have nor the mobility, nor the positioning to get those com towers. I'm pretty sure of it.
So, i believe that you should defend center of the map until power of money to deal massive damage. When com towers on flanks are yours, you can deal with 4 remaining com towers during next power of money and win the game. Javier cannot do anything on this map to stop colin+hachi duo.
Hey Mangs, would love to see the videos of people beating these challenges. If you don't wanna host them, is there anyway you could link to the victory in the description?
Beat it first try! This was fun, thanks for the challenge. Something just doesn't feel right when an infantry dashes into a megatank and no damage done to either side. My strategy was Hachi plus Rachel. Neotank spam and Rachel's rockets decimated Javiers forces. Done by day 20 with 3 tag Co powers and a piperunner to land the finishing blow! The best advantage was again the AI dashing an apc carrying a mech that it wouldn't unload and a rocket blocking its own base. Fun challenge!
I managed to do it. Fun fact: Couple of years ago, I played almost the exact scenario on Javiers site to experience, how utterly broken he is on that map. But y'know who's broken too? Sasha with her ability to drain CO Powers and Hachi with building units on cities. I took a few tries with Colin + Sasha. But this is pretty much a draw. No one can really push through. Then I tried to combine Colin + Sami. And I even managed to snatch two comm towers with Dual Strike Power. But Javier took it back almost immediately. Then I realized the potential of the my cities on the very left. First, Sensei came to my mind. But then I said: "Hachi OP". And yeah: Because the Javier only brings 1 infantry on the top and the bottom and rushes forward instead of standing on the comm tower (which would completely destroyed me), I managed to defeat his infantry on the road with the troops I brought with Hachis power. I pushed forward with these troops and distracted Javier so much in his base, that he couldn't hold the mid. I literally spammed infantry, Mega Tanks and APCs in the mid. I did not do much damage. But it was enough to push more and more to his side of the field. I locked his mid bases, stole his power and crippled his income. And yeah: He coudn't really do much, because I harassed him from three sides. No own upgrades were used. But it's very simple to understand and to do. The most frustrating things were his Rockets for sure.
The first 3 comments I see are CO suggestions. Rachel/Nell, Lash/Sami, Drake/Olaf. Even if the challenge is beaten, it's cool that you created one with multiple solution possibilities.
The offense and defense boosts Javier gets from com towers are independent of each other. Each com is always 10% defense no matter what your skills are, he doesn't get more defense with the extra com tower skill, only extra offense. Still ridiculous of course but not as insane as you're making it seem. Javier's units can't be invincible without terrain stars or defensive skills unless he's got 10 com towers.
Hachi SCOP to defend the cities and grab the outer 2 com towers, and maybe Sami SCOP to slip into and cap the 4 inner com towers. Not sure if Kindle's CO power has potential to break through the most likely wall at the cities beside the mountains. Sturm would've been perfect for this lol. Ignores terrain resistances by default, and if that fails, drop a giant space meatball. Doesn't matter if Javier has +60% defense, 2HP units ain't gonna survive a good push at all.
I did beat that challenge years ago it but I used skills too (but I used only 1 CO), used forest skill and hachi's skill to build recons and tons of infantries on the far right cities, rushed the 2 com tower and capped them. and without skills it's possible, just using hachi in a dual strike should beat it.
I think sami + hachi beats it, a well placed dual strike can instant cap the central com towers, javier would be powerless, hachi's super co pwoer might be used once before to cap the 2 com towers on top and bottom of the map.
Basically did it, posted under pinned comment. You needed to ban Hachi for this to be a challenge, this was first try and very suboptimal. Finished after via rout on day 27.
Sensei alone can do it as some people have posted. Using his CO Powers to mech rush the two towers on the N and S Bridges and holding the line until you can break through with Neo Tanks and the occasional Megatank allows you to mitigate his tower boost and inevitably make a foothold with the cities near the enemy base, allowing you to make a push for the enemy comm towers. Once you at least cap one tower, as long as you hold the infantry spam line then you should be able to win. THAT, and you can join Sensei's extra infantry/mechs from his spammable CO Power for free money to help bolster your offensive spam.
I love the new concept you came up with having people try the impossible challenge! It adds engagement to your fans! I love watching someone trying to overcome a challenge. Mangs for my first turn, I would start with Sonja and build anti air units with artillery. Next turn get mechs and APC's to start capturing the Comm towers. When I played the Advanced Campaign, I always made the mistake to start Kanbei first, so you are not alone. At least the people watching that will learn this as a lesson. I don't understand why you hate Sonja's theme compared to AW2. Anyway Javier is my favorite CO in Dual Strike because the way he talks and his sense of humor personality.
Actually did it with Hachi and Rachel, first trying to gain Power star to get Merchant Union to take the rear com tower, then sneak and cap his hq, toward the end I even breakthrough his frontline lol
Maybe Grit or Jake and rockets can zone out the infantry going for the com towers and reduce his rate of capture? Or someone with Global damage, and bypass the defense with it? Units with less HP have less defense. Finally, someone with fast units or to rush in the beginning? Or even Sami for her victory march and steal properties if she can get to one and walk over mountains?
Rockets can be put in the corners to defend the last two com towers which can give you a theoretical infinite timer, of course you'll need a powerful CO to do it but with grit you could possibly snipe him before he reaches them. Really id say you could win through stalling and build up an army of rockets and neotanks and then slowly push him back with dual striked buffed attacks.
I could see this being done with Sami and some CO with a mobility super. If someone gets lucky enough to break through the chokepoints or slip by them in a couple loaded transports during the first part of a dual strike, Sami can take all the comm towers in one sweep.
Happens that i just recently replayed some AW:DS and saw that the +5% com tower from skills also adds to Javier's defense boost, yes, I don't see how this could turn out bad, hahaha... why do I hear boss music ? Edit : So if you want to take on this challenge, I suggest you look for Flat damaging COP/SCOP, since you have tons of money you can just throw stuff in there and hope for the best. Rachel doesn't sound bad because the map is choky, Olaf is probably great with the snow slowing his progression, Drake is more of a second choice, Hawke takes too long and you don't need the +2HP. You might want Sami as second CO so a good TAG SCOP might get you one or two com tower.
Lmao, I just tried it and won. I took Hachi to build units on the properties at the back, and Olaf for global damages. I was able to take one com towers from Javier, the one at the south, and then with Olaf's global damages, I was able to reduce the HP of the infantry on the com tower at the north to be able to deal damages to it. I can't record my run because I don't know how to do, but I definitely feel like winning this again, it took only 25 days. If anyone is interested, just tell me how to video record my screen while playing, and I can show you
I think the best tactic would be to try and get Sensei's copter command ASAP, and use the infantry to try and take the 2 com towers at the top and bottom.
I have a little challenge for you Beat the mission level by routing, chapter 8 flower of evil from days of ruin, but you delete your air unit If you see this and try it i have an advice for you, this is timed, by that i mean the more you wait the more troop the ai will have, and you have to maintain a wall outside of the initial bridge if you dont want things to get too choke-pointy because the ai is smart enough to start firing from above using rockets and flares
I'm loving the creativity behind all of these DS AW videos! If you want an idea for an advance wars video, maybe you can discuss all the localization changes between european and american Dual strike and Days of ruin/dark conflict. Things like brenner being called a more european O'brian is interesting to me
Day 21, first try. Hachi + Colin (Hachi being the important one). Get a couple of heavy units like neotanks to get charge, and the rest just infantry (wall the middle). Save money before tag so you can get lots of cheap neotanks in the cities + infantry to cap the com towers in the sides. The ai won't send anything to the sides besides a couple of infantry units.
hmmmm, my immediate though is to save money, make a couple neos and arty, focus on breaking through one side, send 3-4 APCs with mechs through. Start capping the HQ and body block the cap. I think this is a lot easier than starting out with half the income and dealing with that stupid hachi garbo. Edit: Actually, yea this is 100% doable you might not even have to kill anything. I forgot that Sami exists and you have dual strike powers. You don't even have to body block just use someone stronger like kanbei, break a hole through their units, use tag team super to get sami onto their likely, undefended HQ, take the win. I can see a few things you can do with this already and you definitely should not bother with fighting him much it would be a waste of time.
Looks like the strategy to win this involves either stealing away his com towers with a Sami dual strike, or relying on global damage powers to soften his units up and make them easier to kill. Stealing the towers seems like it would be a little easier to pull off, though certainly not trivial
I did some testing with skills and I found out that Javier's power does NOT work with tower power unfortunately, it just increases attack like it would for all other CO's And yes, I tested the slam guard skills and they do work just like normal defence does
This one seems like it would actually be easier. I'm no grandmaster, so I won't act like I know. It definitely seems doable though, where as the last one I thought would actually be impossible without an insane amount of luck. There's probably a way to manipulate the ai into letting you break through.
This sounds kinda the same as that funds challenges where they give you a lot of com towers on you side against kindle with like 6 megatanks, no pre deployed units on your side, and i beat that with Javier on first try on that challenge map, it was funny enough to see infantry and mechs tank down the megatanks machine gun like nothing and doing serious damage
I beat this challenge with the duo of Kambei and Hachi. With the dual strike you can buy cheep neotank for accross the brigde en cap the 2 tower. For a little more challenge i beat him and cap all the com tower and ruin Javier army. I this this challenge is more easy than Flak VS heavy metal.
People already beating this but... I'd personally for for something like Nell/Rachel. Since luck damage doesn't care about defense, and neither do Rachel's nukes, you'll get your best shot at blowing through Gigachad Javier's outstanding defense this way. If Javier decided to send out a Megatank, it would be unkillable without luck and missle damage. I might test this strategy myself later.
Someone with global damage might be a decent idea here. Could keep interrupting the comm towers and the global damage would also be decent to hurt Javier regardless of defence or other things. But I don't really know, I'm not good at advance wars in general and I've never really played much of dual strike either, so no idea if that works and how it might work.
I assume it took Savestates scumming to actually win thr last one in a reasonable time frame. And I guess you'll want artillery/rockets and anti air and also Rachel and Kindle?
@@Mangs1337 Just tested it and you still do damage to a Javier infantry on a property with 4 commtowers. Maybe Javier doesnt get bonus defence from the +5% commtower bonus skill because if he did the defence would be 60+30+20% =110% but it still takes 10 damage with no powers. It seems ya got greedy and gave him the bonus power charge instead of the indirect defence so it probs goes up to 90%(40+30+20) this challenge is MINE
Pretty sure Colin's super CO power can bust the wall. This might be the one time it isn't overkill. You may want to set a day limit for future challenges.
I feel like this could be beaten if there is no turn limit. With the greater income, you could literally fill every spot on the map with units to throw at Javier and move one into the spot of the killed unit with one of your own. It'd be tedious and take forever, but you could theoretically have an entire map full of megatanks slowly rolling across the map
I think sensei would work with Javier. my thought is to get sense to activate his normal power to get millions of infantry taking the com towers hopefully fast enough so then is 2 com towers vs 4 as Javier which seemes gold but idk what the skills give him. I'll try this out once I get the campion finished and everyone is maxed

Doesn't seem like Mangs put much thought into this one and rather had to put something together to keep up the "impossible challenge" hype. Co's like Hachi, or Sensei combined with Sami can probably just win the game with little effort.
Hachi or the skill soul of hachi used on any co would easy beat this challenge (if soul of hachi we're allowed of course). You produce units from those cities doesn't matter who it is you can just spam units and take the com towers and overtake from behind to steal the comm towers. I think everyone's figured that out as well mangs. So sorry your challenge got beat. You want to make this challenge impossible? Add the following conditions in. Add Grit to the red side, make it FOW and weather condition sandstorm. For grits skills give him sand scorpion, bruiser and brawler and bodyguard.
Beatable or not, seeing an infantry absolutely stuff a medium tank that has 3 terrain stars is bloody hilarious
12:00 I'm guessing "Comm Tower Effect" is strictly firepower, and doesn't add to Javier's defense. So his overall defense should be 80%, not 110%.
Hachi could be good on this map too. He could deploy units over towards the cities and begin putting pressure against the Com towers off the sides and if done well enough would probably make the AI have to focus on keeping his HQ in check.
I feel like this is a well designed puzzle, not an impossible challenge, but a fun quiz
Yeah good thinking
yeah using hachis scop and try to sneak around from the flanks. probably sack units early on to get an army on the flanks early enough to prevent all 6 com towers
So I think global damage might be the way to go. Olaf/Drake?
Sami seems pretty viable even without tag
I'd like to see it but I doubt it.
Yep, that sounds like it could do the job.
Also Sensie also could do some stuff too
@@CascaDEER no.
Have you tried Tiny Metal and it’s sequel? it’s a spiritual successor and may scratch that itch while waiting for Reboot Camp.
This banter is great fun to read
The blue side co for this map in war room is actually kanbei so he’s basically seeing if he can beat this as the enemy, which I think is a nice detail
I don't see how this holds up to Olaf and Drake. Even if he gets all the comm towers, 6HP units should be easy to break through with a tag strike.
"It looks like Javier is about to capture his 4th com tower" is something you never want to hear.
"Why do I hear dark souls boss music?" is usually the immediate followup to that.
Good thing Rachel is Sturm at home.
To be fair, not easy, but way easier than I thought. I didn’t tried Rachel and Hachi together until then… and boy what a duo
This is a cool concept! Glad to see it another one! This is a nice opportunity for Mangs to know what it feels to be PH and Dsnoon.
*Laughs in hacchi SCOP buying recons and mega tanks to lock down the side com towers*
I could see this being done with Sami and some CO with a mobility super.
If someone gets lucky enough to break through the chokepoints or slip by them in a couple loaded transports during the first part of a dual strike, Sami can take all the comm towers in one sweep.
3:23 This guy is going to have 40% defense.
I think the way defense works is added multiplicity so 70% + 30 =/ 100 rather 70% + 30% = 91% so terrain an com def are added separately.
those challenges are cool. we need moooore
Olaf + Drake, go for the global map damage to reduce the unit strength, reducing the effects of defense.
Not good enough to try, but a suggestion would be an Olaf/Drake team; 4 points of global damage per dual strike + fuel drain. An option anyway.
Javier's got AW2 Samurai Spirit buffs every turn in here. Or maybe even higher
"You can pick any COs you want"
Ok so this will be beaten in an hour
I would say you need Rachel because her super counters defense.
Y'know, Norway has a lot of cliffs.....
Joking of course
Nice challenge like always, keep up the great work. Colin + Kanbei was quite an easy victory, nothing fancy just mega tanks spam.
Oh boy here we go again. This time I might try it, something tells me there might be a way to cheese it out with Drake and Olaf, or Sasha and Hachi.
I have a little challenge for you
Beat the mission level by routing, chapter 8 flower of evil from days of ruin, but you delete your air unit
If you see this and try it i have an advice for you, this is timed, by that i mean the more you wait the more troop the ai will have, and you have to maintain a wall outside of the initial bridge if you dont want things to get too choke-pointy because the ai is smart enough to start firing from above using rockets and flares
Ps i'm probably just bad at the game but i found the challenge quite entertaining
Ah shit, here we go again.
Honestly, pretty easy to break
sasha + colin, stall the last 2 towers with rockets and indirect spam the front
hmmmm, my immediate though is to save money, make a couple neos and arty, focus on breaking through one side, send 3-4 APCs with mechs through.
I did some testing with skills and I found out that Javier's power does NOT work with tower power unfortunately, it just increases attack like it would for all other CO's
And yes, I tested the slam guard skills and they do work just like normal defence does
Looks like Mangs has to retract that Impossible from the title yet again
This one seems like it would actually be easier. I'm no grandmaster, so I won't act like I know. It definitely seems doable though, where as the last one I thought would actually be impossible without an insane amount of luck. There's probably a way to manipulate the ai into letting you break through.
Don't need to be a "grandmaster" to understand basic video games. This will be beaten in a few hours
Mangs: This challenge is impossible!
Also Mangs: What's global damage? Never heard of it.
At this point, this is less "impossible challenges" and more "community challenge: hard mode". You could also make community rankings out of this.
My guess is go Grit and use your superior income to make a deathball that can hit the same Unit multiple times per turn and inch your way forward
Hahahaha, Grit against Javier.
Hahahahahahaha.
@@Mangs1337 I can dream
I just beat the challenge!!! I'm going to post the video on my channel as soon as it's ready.
video is up
I assume it took Savestates scumming to actually win thr last one in a reasonable time frame.
And I guess you'll want artillery/rockets and anti air and also Rachel and Kindle?
Maybe you could interrupt the commtower caps with grit artillery to buy some time.
Artillery vs Javier
@@Mangs1337 Just tested it and you still do damage to a Javier infantry on a property with 4 commtowers. Maybe Javier doesnt get bonus defence from the +5% commtower bonus skill because if he did the defence would be 60+30+20% =110% but it still takes 10 damage with no powers. It seems ya got greedy and gave him the bonus power charge instead of the indirect defence so it probs goes up to 90%(40+30+20) this challenge is MINE
maybe an adder+sami combo for an HQ rush? or even to take away those comm towers
Pretty sure Colin's super CO power can bust the wall. This might be the one time it isn't overkill. You may want to set a day limit for future challenges.
Okay I gave him a hindspanking with colin+sami neotank sacrifice into tag capture 3 commtowers at round 9 or 10 dont remember
So the challenge is Javier having samurai spirit levels of firepower and defense
Atrueboss be like "why are you the way that you are?"
Lmao it hasn't even been a day and this egg has been cracked, yet again
I feel like this could be beaten if there is no turn limit. With the greater income, you could literally fill every spot on the map with units to throw at Javier and move one into the spot of the killed unit with one of your own. It'd be tedious and take forever, but you could theoretically have an entire map full of megatanks slowly rolling across the map
your mega tanks will deal 0 dmg against anything full health on woods or better
Well I knew this was coming.
Is it possible for you to commentate any of the games that beat these challenges? I would LOVE to see you react to and break down how they managed it!
I think sensei would work with Javier. my thought is to get sense to activate his normal power to get millions of infantry taking the com towers hopefully fast enough so then is 2 com towers vs 4 as Javier which seemes gold but idk what the skills give him. I'll try this out once I get the campion finished and everyone is maxed
i beat it on my 3Ds go on rom for screen shot the victory screen.
Take gritt and sacha:
use sacha normal power and day to day at begning recon and APC and take contest city ( mega tank on ally city can't be destroy )
gritt for spam rocket and heavy tank
lot of meat shield :)
Soul of Hachi deploy unit in city and take back com tower on side of this map (APC +infantry + AA for both side and artillery if you can )
skill for both
sniper
Pathfinder
Pathfinder
Soul of Hachi
Sami sounds good here
yeah, sami and hachi dual strike
I actually like Sonja's DS Theme, it's better than Olaf's, that's for sure XD
Doesn't seem like Mangs put much thought into this one and rather had to put something together to keep up the "impossible challenge" hype. Co's like Hachi, or Sensei combined with Sami can probably just win the game with little effort.
Mangs, I bet you can do something fun with a DS Battle on both "Risky Duo" and "Risky Duo DS" :D
Maybe Colin and Kanbei. And don't build regular tanks, but Neo Tanks and indirects
Guess rigging the RNG won't help me this time, if any CO might beat this, I think either Kindle, Colin, or a Sami + Koal/Adder Tag Power.
Lastly you have to attempt this challenge as max SOLO.
NO skills allowed.
Now, THAT would be a truly impossible challenge.
colin and the girl, full money generating skills + direct defence boost should work, due colins power on high money
I feel this is a grit mission
