I got an clothespin bag from the dollar store - the type with wire hanger for the line and boning around the edge to hold it open - I turned the wire around, and set it under my serger, hanging off edge of desk, to collect all my scraps. When not using the serger, it hooks onto my cabinet. Having something close by for scraps is so helpful!
I have a mat under my sewing machine. I use it to push my machine out of the way. I prefer actual bobbin cases as I have about 20 bobbins. Much nicer to have more bobbins as they have colors of projects on them. I have 5 dedicated bobbins for white thread and 5 for black thread. I keep my scissors in front of my machine so they are never lost. I find most of the ideas in this video also on other videos. I have yet to find one that I would use.
ooooooooooo naughty girl! All your trimmings & little pieces of fabrics should go into an old pillow case & when full sew it closed & take it to the local animal shelter as a bed, they love them! I put my pillowcase in a waste basket as a liner! Love all your other ideas tho! Fantastic!!!
Wow, I'm 65 and I'm still learning new things. Not sure which one of these I like the best, but I'd have to say using plastic placemats for templates I use a lot is probably close to #1!
I'm super paranoid of hanging the snips like that because I just know I'll fall and impale myself 😂😂😂. But that would be very cool to attach to my machine or sewing table. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you take us through all these items that we can use in our sewing 🧵 room. I thought the badge holders as scissors holders a great idea, one which I will definitely use too. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too.
Love your ideas I can't believe that since Ive been embroidering how your bag hack will keep my space much tidier. I find threads sometimes all over my house! Thanks
Love your ideas! One thought for the paper bag with threads and scraps - they would be great fire starters for the outdoor family time around the camp fire.
I like the idea of using thicker mats for patterns. They’re not as slippery. Unfortunately what used to be a $1.00 before is now $1.29 to $1.49 or more. They should rename the stores. 😮
I've always used plastic if it will be used more than a few times, cardboard bends, can get wet, etc. but I'm all for using whatever free resources you can!!
the just cotton is not 100% cotton. its a polyester cotton blend 85/15. weird to name it "just" cotton, since it's definitely not "just cotton".... super puzzling, right?
Woah!!! Mine fell apart after 2 washes. Some of the seams came undone and the zipper got detached. I ended up reinforcing the edges and the zipper section with bias tape.
Loved the placemats hack for pattern pieces!
:)

that is a really good idea! I'm going to look for one of those there next time I'm shopping. Thanks for sharing.
The flexible cutting mats are great for cutting patterns. Plus there are 3 in a package. ❤❤❤
Ooo that is cool. Not at my Dollar store but I'll keep looking

We use old flat pillows for dog beds too.
Thank you! I'll be looking at my Dollar Tree differently now!!❤👍Judith Dembowski
What an excellent idea, thanks for sharing with everyone

I'm so glad to hear :) I hope I never stop learning!!
Loved the idea for the bobbin holder!
Thank you! 😊
I use a plastic adhesive wall hook from the dollar store! I stick it on my machine and use it as a seam guide to keep my stitches straight!
clever
Loved the tan bag used as a trash/scrao bag
Hardware containers work great for holding all the teeny bits in one place some have handles.
or the mini tackle box has 6 to 12
I do love organisation tips for the sewing room, thanks so much for sharing

OMG I totally get it, that is why I don't like wearing scissors around my neck, I once bent down and stabbed my leg lol
@@SookieSews honestly, I’m a little surprised that you aired this lol
I use plastic mushroom boxes for little scraps and thread cuttings. The clear cutting mats work well to trace patterns on.
Great idea!
Cool items. Found some I might try.. the plastic placemats would make great template material!!
Awesome!!
Great ideas. I like the nail brush idea for the chenille.

Thank you and so glad you enjoyed. I’ve recently done a series on Non-Sewing sewing notions you might enjoy too.

I love hearing this!!
Remember the days before automatic thread cutters on machines when you had to keep your vacuum handy,?
Lol yep. I still clip threads :)
I've used the paper gift bag and placemat ideas but I never thought of using dental floss to sew on a button. Great ideas!!
I have been doing that for a long time but never even thought to share it with anyone, so glad it helped.
These ideas are GREAT... Thank you
You’re most welcome
thank you for the patterns for the 10 minute sewing Easter projects
You’re welcome

That’s a cool idea
Wish we had the Dollar tree in Australia . They are great hacks .
Do you have anything similar?
@@SookieSews we have two dollar stores and the reject shop but nothing the scale of the dollar tree stores or the variety .
Recently they have begun to increase the price to $1.50 so it’s no longer officially a dollar store lol
Love love this video so informative. These are items no one else is talking about great job
I’m so glad you enjoyed!
Great ideas.
When tracing onto the placemat instead of riding with the pattern is just glue it with school glue stick onto the placemat
Loved this video!!
I'm so glad. Please do subscribe if you haven't already!
Actually useful and clever hacks. Thanks so much. Subbed!
Awesome! Thank you
Such great ideas, Sookie!
Glad you like them! Thank you for your kind words :)

Right!!! I totally agree.
Why not use recycled cardboard or cereal boxes for pattern pieces? Are plastic placemats better in some way?
I've always used plastic if it will be used more than a few times, cardboard bends, can get wet, etc. but I'm all for using whatever free resources you can!!
Gteat idea using the retractable name holders

I save Kleenex boxes to use as little trash collectors.
Smart
Those mesh laundry bags fall apart really easily.
Really? OMG, I have been using the same 3 for a long time. I wash my bras, delicates, chenille, and fabric in them.
Woah!!! Mine fell apart after 2 washes. Some of the seams came undone and the zipper got detached. I ended up reinforcing the edges and the zipper section with bias tape.
Maybe i got lucky but sounds like you made the most of it!
We don't have a dollar tree . we are indians . We have to search in D mart or any other stores😊
Good to know :)
all the waste!! :(
What waste are you talking about?
:)
