It was great to hear the purr of a Honda 550 again. I bought one brand new when I was stationed in Hawaii around 1974. Had the 4 trumpet pipes on it and it was so much smoother and comfortable than the 72 750 I had in Texas. I'd really like to get my hands on a 350 or 400 four in my old age. Great video. Thanks again.
I have been watching and enjoying your channel for a while now. I had a 1976 CB550 and I tore it down and freshened up the motor. I had it for 5 yrs and I rode it from Miami to El Paso and many places in between. Watching you with these bike takes me back to my youth, thanks for the work and please keep them coming.
I owned this exact bike back in the 80’s. Color and all. Rode it from New Jersey down to Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway along the Appalachian Mountains. Brings back very fond memories. Thank you for that.
I truly do enjoy watching you work on these old bikes. No matter the problem, you know how to troubleshoot and find the problem. I wish I had that knowledge, and the confidence to utilize it. You keep working and I will keep watching. Thanks
It's nice seeing a CB in stock form being ridden. I know it's not the coolest bike on the road....but that classic, vintage look just looks nice...at least to my 50 year old eyes. I grew up seeing these bikes on the road on a daily basis. Seeing all these new bikes...with plastic fairings and shrouds and panels covering everything....just isn't the same. It's nice to see the engine and frame and all the parts that make the motorcycle the riding machine it is.
I'd rather buy a used bike from someone like you who knows what he's doing. I'm sure that bike when you're finished will be road worthy for some time to come. Love yer videos. Back in my day I had a Kawasaki 400 two stroke triple. I used to get in trouble with the cops for doing wheelies when I left at a red light. It sure sounds good to hear it run. I like yer tach tester. Never throw anything away. Don't forget about the rear view mirrors.
Wow, this is my old bike. I had that same bike when I was in the Army in the 70's. I rode that bike all across the US for many yrs. Even the same color and same exhaust. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I am now real spoiled and ride a Goldwing!
I been watching this series closely. Takes me back to my high school days. We had these & the Suzuki GT380. The 2-cycle Suzuki's were the scream machines. Scare the ever loving s**t out of you & give you stories to tell... AND, everybody please share Taylor's channel. Let's get him a 100K subscriber plaque. He's giving real entertainment in his postings.
Just found your channel. I've been working on bikes over 50 years and I find your videos to be very entertaining.. I also like the absence of constant swearing like on other channels. Keep up the excellent work!
I am actually picking up the same exact year CB750 this morning! And 100% original! But with a bit high mileage of 82k, supposedly rebuild with a big bore kit of 836cc, and is a runner, a rough Runner but still running, sitting since 1985 I believe, for $1500! I am super stoked and I can't wait to get it home...
It was fun seeing you bring the 550 back to life. It sure sounded sweet when you took her out for the first ride. I've had a Honda CB650 Custom since 1999. I recently had to empty out my gas tank and put new spark plugs in to get her running properly again. Videos like yours inspire me to do more on my bike. If my carbs need cleaning and syncing I may send them to you. Great job on the Honda 550
I am loving this series. I just recently tore apart the carbs for a full clean, rebuild, and paint... following along so I can get my CB650C up and running.
"hoard everything, forever." way ahead of you. i have crap i picked up 40 years ago lying in a box, or on a shelf somewhere, waiting for it's chance to be the hero. last week i put a fuel regulator on a project that had been in a box of fuel system parts for 20 years at least. saved me a 12 mile trip to town, and 40 bucks. when i put it on, i was singing the mighty mouse theme song, "here i come to save the day!" lol!
Looks like a '76. I had a brand new one and it's still the best of the nine bikes I've had. It was plenty fast, super reliable and easy to work on. If I'd kept it I'd probably still be riding it daily.
I love you videos! You inspired me to try building a bike I’m on my first project it’s a 1982 Yamaha xs400 heritage special that I picked up for 200$ running and driving!! I keep referring to your videos for help you’re doing a great job with you videos keep up the awesome builds and thanks for the awesome content
I am still waiting on you to put that helmet cam on while you ride one of the CB750's that you fix, come on Taylor make one of a CB750!!! I would have loved to have seen a Ride Along video of that gold CB750 you fixed
I simply painted the side covers on my 550 a dark brown mat colour. Makes them almost disappear rather than stand out. Much cheaper than trying to match the original Honda paint and looks great. Wayne
Here in down under that model was known as a cb500/4 and if memory serves me correct the 550/4 came out here in around 1979. I owned a 500/4 the same colour as that one and I loved that bike but some stupid car driver collided with me at full speed and the result was devastating. Cheers from Australia.
Loving this content man! Been looking forward to this vid for a week. I would say crack the tach open and see if its repairable. Post a vid of that if it works; I think it will make some more good content. Keep em coming!
I was buying bikes and finally crashed . Hospital and not the crash almost killed me with drug OD. Anyway I have a nice 550 and pretty exceptional cb 350. I got them cheap enough and they have really appreciated enough that I can have a pro do some repairs to sell them When I got a certain age with the crash I realized that both my wife and myself has to stay in hood shape in case of health problems needing a care giver
I had a MAC four into one on my KZ750. It killed the power past 8000 which sounds bad but the bike was WAY stronger in the 4 to 8000 range. It made it a much more fun bike for bombing the twisties and quick roll on passes. I wasn't in the habit of running the bike at 10,000 anyway.
You should try out Metal Rescue, get the concentrate and just fill up the tank with water, add the concentrate and then let it sit for a day. Stuff works amazing.
Very good videos Taylor.Being a lover of classic bikes myself I really enjoy watching these. What you dont mention in your videos is how many miles do these bikes have on. Where do you buy the bikes from,is it auctions on e bay or somewhere else. Also do you sell them?
I had both a 550 and a 650 honda. I miss those bikes. In your "stash" of bikes would you ever consider rebuild (restore) a bike and sell it? Having a good road worthy 550/650 would be great.
for the tachometer where the cable screws into the engine, what is that part called on the engine? ive been trying to figure it out for days now. i have a 81 suzuki gs750e and the tachometer doesnt work, because the part thats on the engine is not moving the cable. PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME!
No passing zone. If its dashed yellow on your side of the road, you can pass. Solid yellow line on your side of the lane, single or double, not allowed to pass.
Got me a cb550, been sitting for 20 years but it was well prepared for sitting, the carbs were cleaned before parking and the gas tank drained, I’m going to buy a new brake caliper, mine is corroded beyond repair unfortunately.
Can you please dismantle and try to fix the rev counter. Not all of us have a spare and it doesn't matter if you cock yours up if your scrapping it. The speedo on mine works up to 30 mph but won't go any higher. Its got a new cable ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Great videos as usual.
Hello Taylor. My name is Steve.. I'm a DJ from the UK.. I have watched your video's for some time.. Your number 1 on Honda's. Can you give me advice .. I'm thinking of getting a CB650 SC 1981.. Are these a good Honda ? I have a 2003 Honda CB400ss.. A great little bike.. Thanks Regards Steve
What do you usually find or range of prices that these bikes tend do go for? Really like the more classic look, but I think where I am, people want way too much for them when they pop up for sale.
Great vid. I really recommend wearing gloves when handling brake fluid. I got some on my pants one time and it burned holes in there. Can't be that great for your skin.
Looking Good. When it comes to the speedo and tacho, I've read that you shouldn't store them - or even hold them - in an inverted position. They have an open cup that contains a silicone lubricant evaporates over the years, and will pour out if inverted. This results in a jumpy/jerky needle, especially at higher speeds/revs.
Hoard everything, even the tacho that doesn't work. It might be good for parts. You might even be able to fix it, even if you can't, you can't break it more.

She’s a smooth running 4-cylinder bike

Great work. Love that you are bringing back this neglected relic. These old CBs are rolling art.
No such thing as hoarding when it comes to old bike spares, just priceless parts.
I'd rather buy a used bike from someone like you who knows what he's doing. I'm sure that bike when you're finished will be road worthy for some time to come. Love yer videos. Love this generation CB's, great bikes and a milestone in the history of motorbikes. Nice video!
Nice little bike. It remindes me of the brown '74 CB750 I bought new in the spring of '75. What a great bike that was!!
Just found your channel. I've been working on bikes over 50 years and I find your videos to be very entertaining.. I also like the absence of constant swearing like on other channels. Keep up the excellent work!
Looks and runs sweet, nice job so far Taylor
I had a new 1971 CB750 the big brother to this bike. I always really liked the BIG speedo and tach on these bikes.
I am actually picking up the same exact year CB750 this morning! And 100% original! Had CB550 in the 70s. Great bike. I liked it with the two pipes on each side.
I bought one that still had the 4 separate exhausts, but sadly they leaked really bad and I had to replace them with a 4 into 2 system
100% awesome that you were watching Benny's Custom Works during filming of this video.
I said it once, Ill say it again, love the content Taylor! You have taught me a lot working on my own bike. Great stuff.
I really really really need one of those!
Love the videos, I've owned a 1977 cb550k since 1979, and have avoided the temptation to bob it. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the memory. I had a 550 and I loved the bike not the seat. It got hard real fast.

I like your job with motorbikes. It’s a great tutorial about all mechanics work.
Excellent 👍👏

Honda never built a bad product.
Been watching your channel for the last 18 months, got me hooked on UA-cam! Brilliant job pal! Keep on wrenching
More of this more often plz. Good stuff. Thanks

Well done Taylor!
Bike that got me interested in motorcycles. From my point of view, perfect "series" continuation after Kawa. Thanks for the video.
Only just found you and loving these will it run videos! thank you so much
for a few sec., I thought that was a bottle of bourbon on your bench......
Hey, cool job getting the old classic running again 👊🏻
I wish I had 55o god bless and keep you safe on your next run with buddy
I simply painted the side covers on my 550 a dark brown mat colour. Makes them almost disappear rather than stand out. Much cheaper than trying to match the original Honda paint and looks great. Wayne

Excellent video! look forward to seeing the cosmetics. Your work and shop are terrific
Runs great love it!!
Living the dream man, keep up the good work!
You can download apps that will give you a paint code. NO idea how well they work, but there is an app for that. Keep up the great work!
Linda CB550! Gostaria de viver aí nos EUA para poder fazer exatamente isto que você faz! Caçar Hondas e recuperá-las!
That motor sounds sweet.
Loving this content man! Been looking forward to this vid for a week. I would say crack the tach open and see if its repairable. Post a vid of that if it works; I think it will make some more good content. Keep em coming!
So cool man! Brings back sweet memories, I had a 73 model same color 550 four...great videos, just subbed!
You can almost always push a caliper piston out with air pressure.
Do RC *compressor
@@jltrack or a co2 bottle maybe.
Gods, that sounds lovely!
Love the CBs
I was buying bikes and finally crashed . Hospital and not the crash almost killed me with drug OD. Anyway I have a nice 550 and pretty exceptional cb 350. I got them cheap enough and they have really appreciated enough that I can have a pro do some repairs to sell them

This may seem strange, but I have always loved Honda's speedo/tach of the generation.
There's just something about that green background man
Love. That. Five. Fifty. Looks. Awsome
Nice job bud!
I used t have a '74 550 that looked just like that one
Very nice are used to have one of those nice old bikes
I had a MAC four into one on my KZ750. It killed the power past 8000 which sounds bad but the bike was WAY stronger in the 4 to 8000 range. It made it a much more fun bike for bombing the twisties and quick roll on passes. I wasn't in the habit of running the bike at 10,000 anyway.
top vid bro! got my eye out for a reasonably priced cb550 to brat out! subbed for all your tips! chur
Bike looks and sounds nice Taylor! Just paint side cover black and be done with it. 👍😎🇺🇸
Mmmmm, satisfying. Enjoyed this a lot.
i love that bike and i think u will make it looks good, thx for the video
You should try out Metal Rescue, get the concentrate and just fill up the tank with water, add the concentrate and then let it sit for a day. Stuff works amazing.
Taylor. Good job you’re the man. I love this 550. Would you consider to sale of this bike? I love you’re job. Have a good one👍🏻
NAPA color matches paint give them a try and will put it in cans as well !
Which Public Auctions are you looking at ? love these old bikes.
Love how these old Honda's just come back to life so well, good job man.
If the color match doesn't work too well, maybe do them both in black ?
Very good videos Taylor.Being a lover of classic bikes myself I really enjoy watching these. What you dont mention in your videos is how many miles do these bikes have on.
Where do you buy the bikes from,is it auctions on e bay or somewhere else. Also do you sell them?
Holden Monaro with a Pontiac front in the background 👍🏻
nice bike, nice work
That's rad!
I had both a 550 and a 650 honda. I miss those bikes. In your "stash" of bikes would you ever consider rebuild (restore) a bike and sell it? Having a good road worthy 550/650 would be great.

That thingamajig?
Hey man you should consider getting a mic.. keep up the good work
Great 1st ride, sounds sweet.
What do the double yellow lines signify, being English it’s strange.
Well made vid.
Same as double solid white lines here in the UK...
No passing zone. If its dashed yellow on your side of the road, you can pass. Solid yellow line on your side of the lane, single or double, not allowed to pass.
Thanks for the info, it makes so much sense now 👍

I think there is a Ford bronze close to that tank colour...?
estou precisando de uma copia do manual de cervço da CB 350 e CB 360 Honda tem como min ajuda
love the video
That’s a sweet sounding little bike. What’s the average auction/retail price on the old iron you restore???
Hello Taylor. My name is Steve.. I'm a DJ from the UK.. I have watched your video's for some time.. Your number 1 on Honda's. Can you give me advice .. I'm thinking of getting a CB650 SC 1981.. Are these a good Honda ? I have a 2003 Honda CB400ss.. A great little bike.. Thanks Regards Steve

Great job, great video, great bike, how many miles are on the bike please
Great stuff! What do you usually set the idle mixture screw to with the pod filters and larger main jet?
1.5 turns out roughly.
I did not see you clear coat the tank... won't it rust again after a while?
the gas tank is so pretty
EXCELLENT
Take that on your next run with your buddy
Where does your love for the old Hondas come from?'
First bike I ever got running was a CB125 and the rest is history.
Great vid. I really recommend wearing gloves when handling brake fluid. I got some on my pants one time and it burned holes in there. Can't be that great for your skin.
I would recommend wearing gloves when ridding the bike as well
send that old tach off to seattle speedometer. guy does AMAZING work...if its worth saving idk
Watching MCMTV2!?
Do you have address to your shop? I live down I35 about 60 miles away.
I should think he does ha ha ha

HEY..THATS MY BROTHERS BIKE!!!
Cool
And don't forget your mirrors.
