How to diagnose cylinder misfire maybe? It is common problem on bikes and, I think, nice topic....

Glad to be back watching your videos Taylor. Had to go remote off the grid for a while with no internet. I was hoping you’d have a ton more viewers though. Please share everyone as it will help with new content. Sharing is how we can grow this channel and if you’re reading this, you must enjoy the channel.

I have owned many bikes, the only ones that never left me stranded where my Hondas. My last bike was an 02 VTX1800C, serial number ending in 000022, I put 120k miles on it, trying to break it, no way. All I ever did was change the oil & filter every 5k miles, cooling system drain & fill every 24k miles, compression test every 8k miles, valve adjustment @ 64k miles, when the compression went from 95 to 70 psi, fork seals at 63k miles & again at 118k miles & finally, clutch springs @ 84k miles. Then on my way to work one day, a woman, on her cell phone, pulled out in front of me & I t-boned her truck..sad day all around. I miss that bike.
Anyway, outstanding videos sir. Keep up the good work.

Starving for content, and you always deliver. With that being said i think everyone here would love to see everything from top to bottom. Even the small things you think we've seen several times already, there's always a benefit to seeing it again. I'm about to buy a 70's honda cb750 myself so any videos i can watch of yours i'm treating like a video version of a Hanes/Clymer manual haha. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic! I’m like the others: SHOW EVERYTHING... But, if I had my choice on what to see more of, it likely wouldn’t apply to this bike, but I’d LOVE to see more deep/complex work: ENGINE WORK; tear downs, repairs, rebuilds, etc. Top ends would be great, but even harder, and thus needed for more instruction: BOTTOM ENDS... Thanks!

    1. We want to see EVERYTHING! Take it off! TAKE IT ALL OFF!
    2. Great to see it come back to life.
    3. It's channels like your that give me the confidence to do more of my own motorcycle work. Thank you so much for that.
    4. I would LOVE to wear a Classic Octane shirt to support your channel and prove how cool I am but to get it to Canada would cost over sixty Canuckian dollars, eh.
    5. Thanks for the link to the proper type of bullet connectors.

I enjoy visiting with you in your workshop. You lift this old shut-in into another world as I watch you work and mutter asides and commentary. Your persistence, clear thinking and delight in problem solving is inspiring. It's amazing to see what's in America's garages. In California it's boot making in my garage where I also store my '81 CB650 and '82 CB750. Keep the videos rollin'

I absolutely love watching all of your videos!
I can’t imagine the feeling of hearing them run once you have tinkered just a little to get them going. I am inspired to say the least.
Coukd you show some more of when you do encounter major engine issues and what could be the fix so maybe even an experienced novice might not be too afraid to tackle a tougher issue.
Thanks - and keep the videos coming.

Always amazing how these seventy’s Honda’s come back to life so willingly. This one didn’t even blow a puff of smoke that I could see either. Don’t know how you find these good motors, the ones I’ve had all need new rings and things to run well. Love to see how you paint the tank. Cheers.

being known for a certain style of bike is not a bad thing. i like the idea of a classic octane special. especially when it looks as good as the bikes you build. they have a clean look, are reliable and aren't difficult to ride. that's what make your daily bike, your daily bike, and why you love it like your lady.

Hi Taylor, since past week i’m getting up to speed watching your videos. I enjoy watching you fix those old Cb’s (being a former owner of a Honda Cb500f)
I also like the way you interact with your viewers. This cuts both ways obviously, so here are my 50 cents:
In my younger days i worked a lot on my daily driver, a Honda CB500f (1976) to keep it on the road safely and cheap. One of the (few) problems I encountered was a failing starter solenoid. As a “poor” angry young man I couldn’t afford to buy me a new one, so I opened the solenoid up. Inside there’s a magnet that pulls on a small horizontal copper bar when the starter button is engaged. That bar connects the two high power contact points from battery and starter motor. Because of wear due to arcing, the copper was eaten away at the “business end”, so the bar did not connect the two contact points anymore.
I loosened the bolt on the copper bar and simply flipped the bar over so the pristine upside was now the business end and i sealed the solenoid. After that the solenoid was as good as new and worked for many years. Maybe this hack can be of some use to you.
    Cheers😃

Know they’re a pain but love the slash cut individual header pipes and raked out front and everything about this bike lol. I’ll have to build one to replicate it now. Always loved Hondas (family thing) but had a kawi, Suzuki, and now a Yamaha that I’ve taken from literal $300 basket cases and built running bikes out of so one day I hope to take it easy and resurrect an old Honda. Enjoy the videos, Keep at it!

I have a 96 Kawasaki I'm trying to bring back to life after 20 years of sitting. It will fire up, but I know it's going to need the carbs rebuilt. I'd love to get my hands on one of these old Hondas.

Don't forget my friend, the apocalypse has a) a damaged engine/low or poor compression b) mix matched carbs c) no exhaust for back pressure d) a weak spark from a mix matched coil. Please, don't be so hard on it! BTW I still use a 40 year old Honda as daily commuter to work. Bullet proof if looked after.
