You know? Im glad i found your channel. I think its very important to know what this developers went through to give us this awesome games, it makes me apreciate them more, both the games and the people behind it
Be aware of TikTok. It’s worse because I always see the leaked games in the “TikTok Live” feed. Just pointing that out for anyone that doesn’t want to have spoilers.
I'm glad to hear that you found closure from your own shock from AD's bankruptcy. I completely agree with you on all fronts of this video: that the state of the company and work conditions was abhorrent going into PJ and beyond, but that the devs were and are still my favorites, and that Acquire and the retained former AD staff look like they have a lot of love to share for the series' past, present and future. Most importantly, though, I can't state enough how grateful I am for you to bring all of us fans of the series this closure. It's been painful in many ways, no doubt, but I don't think I'm alone in saying that the worst part when this all happened wasn't the actual event. No, it was the silence, then the usual suspects coming out of the woodworks to cash in on phoned-in obituaries for a series and developer they, I'm damn sure, never even cared about. A series and developer that, in my eyes, rose beyond any kind of nostalgia, bumps, crashes in quality, but just made both a consistently and increasingly enjoyable series and product; even PJ's critics say that it has the most refined gameplay out of the 3D entries despite its shortcomings! Through all of that, you put in the kind of work, investigation, balanced perspectives and responsible hype and positivity of channels and people many times your size and position, with some of those people being the very same frauds from after the bankruptcy. I really couldn't ask for a better figurehead of this franchise's fanbase, and I'm excited to see how you delve into the series' future and grow your channel and style. Thank you, Lizardy.
Great to see another upload again, enjoyed it. Hopefully Brothership gets enough support that Aquire could (potentially) be the developer for the series going forward if its recieved well enough.
Bro, I'm so glad I found your channel about a year ago. I love all the Mario rpg series, but I grew up with the M&L games. I was really enjoying the 3ds games and it felt like such a shock when I heard AlphaDream closed. But your videos would help give me closure. And now we even have a new Mario&Luigi game on the horizon. Plus all the revival of the other Mario rpgs, I couldn't be happier. I look forward to your future videos.
I want the elite captain Quartet to appear in brothership so badly. I am a big defender of the side modes from the remakes. I don’t think they’re the greatest things in the world or anything, but they’re cute and their stories are awesome. I want Captain Goomba and the other captains to get to have a boss fight against Mario and Luigi similar to the elite trio fight in dream team. I doubt that will happen, but I do think it would be cool. Based off of one of the trailers, it looks like Bowser Junior is going to be continuing his character development from Bowser Junior’s Journey, which is so cool and the quartet was in that so they could referenced at least
Yeah, I heard about that continuation too. It's been sad to see people point at that with absolutely no context of the side modes, or even outright turn around and say the side modes were unremarkable or irredeemable. Sure, they sold infamously poorly, but some 'fans', man...
I love the mario and luigi series it's so good to see someone dedicated as you to finding out everything about alphadream. Thanks for all your videos! Edit: 6:16 thats how I think about nintendo
I feel like it's more just a specific branch of Nintendo, and their advertising can be cringe. Otherwise what they create is worth the strange difficulty with creating things about Nintendo properties.
Crap, I wanted to watch this on the cue of the notification I got, but I guess I'll do it in a few weeks because it contains Brothership footage. Didn't think of that myself. But it's defs going into Watch Later :D
Was debating that myself, that’s why I only choose to add footage that were from the released Nintendo trailers, not any of the raw gameplay clips. But I still understand waiting to watch! Thank you for the support ❤
@@lizard.y I get that, that''s actually quite a nice and considerate decision :) It's just that I had decided after the announcement trailer to not watch anything else that came out after, but I know that that's a really extreme level of staying spoiler free, so I totally respect at least using footage from the newer official trailers. Thank you for understanding, and as always best of luck with your channel. I will come back to this video! :)
Im glad you passed this closure on to us as well, i can play through the series fully happy knowing that it gets to live on and inspire more things. Alpha dream, They weren't perfect, but really nothing is in this world.
When you said that you will make a full retrospect of the things you uncovered, it reminded me of Game Theory's Full FNAF Timeline lol. Stay safe from spoilers Mario and Luigi bros
There's one part of the game that looks bland so far, and that's transition screens. entering battle and leveling up looks like empty screens. The rest of what we've seen in incredibly detailed, but if a little of that dev/art time was put into these screens instead, I wonder if we would even have seen the difference?
@@lizard.yI can agree with that but feel like that one specific aspect isn't exactly important, especially because the design of the screens have been kinda bland before but that really never mattered too much in terms of presentation
Liked the discussion here, but it was a bit awkward for me that you were using what I assume is footage from the newest Brothership trailers,. considering I'm trying to avoid any and all spoilers 😅 (it's fine, I covered my screen with something else for most of it)
It looks incredibly promising, but I worry about development hell like so many indies before it that depended on slow crowd-funding. I really respect the effort though; there's a criminally low amount of M&L-inspired games compared to the swamp of Earthbound and PM clones...
@@vdpt9911It’s probably because of the obvious work it would take to implement dodgable attacks and Mario and Luigi type battle screens, compared to the flat normal RPGs that are PM and Earthbound.
Wait, an interview with Nishi Kenichi? Personally I wouldn't call any of the companies split from the legendary studio Love-de-Lic a second-party Nintendo developer, but I do wonder why did Nishi essentially abandoned Skip together with his core team members and started a new company just to develop a new Chibi-Robo style game again. I mean, the only reasonable interpretation I can come up with is that he doesn't like the company used to be controlled by Nintendo and now with a new company he can develop games without restrictions, hence the reason why they decided to crowdfunding their new game koROBO.
Nishi abandon Skip shortly after the original Chibi-Robo and was only in a contract role for Captain Rainbow. Korobo came from the team getting back together after Skip and then Vanpool fell apart. Onion Games is probably why most of the ex Love-de-Lic staff got back in touch. Nishi's reason for leaving was that he was uncomfortable working in a big team environment.
@@killustraitor4288 For the Nishi stuff, you can look at his Wikipedia page. For Tiny Wonder, I'm more speculating based on the timing since Vanpool is where several of the Skip staff ended up after leaving Skip over the years.
The AlphaDream arc is over...now is the time for Mario & Lugi and Acquire Corp. era

Thanks for the heads up man. I've waited so long for this game, so this'll be the last mario vid I watch until the 7th

there's even music for the game leaked
however, most of it is currently unlisted

I can totally accept that if we’re going to get lots of cinematic cutscenes showing Mario and Luigi being as brotherly and loving as ever!😊😍
