5:45 Actually Fanatec developed a way to change your settings on the fly and not have to restart the game for the changes to take effect. It's on all of their wheelbases. I just figured I'd point it out there:)
As someone that has been in and out of Sim Racing for a while (my first wheel was a Microsoft Sidewinder in 1998 that I used through all of the Papyrus NASCAR titles), I've owned a handful of wheels, from budget to high end. I took a break from sim racing from about 2005 until 2009 when I picked up Forza 3. That was the first console I built a dedicated rig for, with a Microsoft 360 FFB wheel that didn't entirely suck. Once I started getting serious, I went the Fanatec route with the 911 GT2 wheel and pedal set. Aside from some overheating issues that would sometimes yank the wheel out of my hands and pin itself locked to the left (really fun when it happens on the third lap of a 50 lap league race), I decided it had to go when I upgraded from the XBox 360 to the XBone and Fanatec refused to work out the compatibility issues. From there, I bought the only wheel at the time that was compatible (that wasn't a new Fanatec) - the Thrustmaster TX with T3PA pedals, and that is what I have been using for the last several years. I recently changed positions at work, so I am no longer on the road 2-3 weeks out of every month. Since I now have more time at home to enjoy iRacing, I've started wanting to upgrade my now obsolete equipment. I looked at Fanatec again (conveniently the only bases in stock are well north of $1k). I've looked at Moza (simultaneously available to ship immediately and to pre-order). Since I've already invested in the Thrustmaster ecosystem (TH8A shifter, multiple wheel rims) I figured that's where it makes sense to stay. It looks like the TS-PC is the route I'm going to take (I don't need the console support of the XW) along with a set of T-LCM pedals. While a full Fanatec setup (with the DD5) wouldn't cost much more, Amazon can get the Thrustmaster pieces to me in a matter of days vs a 2-3 month preorder for a direct drive system. And, when (if) Thrustmaster decides to release their DD unit, I'll already have quality components to go along with it.
Hey Marshall, I am thinking about getting a Thrustmaster TX with the T3PA pedals for an Xbox series X. Do you have any advice for that? Btw I am also getting the TH8A shifter and the Fanatec handbrake.
@@planeboy1318 I really enjoyed that combo on the XbOne. Upgrading from the TX to the TS-PC was a major change, jumping from 1NM to 6, but the higher force allows for a more nuanced feel. If you can swing it I'd recommend the TS-XW over the TX. If not, the TX will serve you just fine.

Something must be different between the t300 and the TS-XW which I have bc there is 100% no way to play without that screw in. Hi, we got one for Christmas 2 days ago but there's a big heavy looking fan inside the box. Whats the fan for please as it wasn't mentioned here? Thanks.
I believe your talking about the power supply. It’s shaped like a turbo charger. That should connect to the wheel as well as to a power outlet and power the wheel.
@@OCRacing Yes its shaped like a Turbo Charger after looking in the box again. We are going to set it up tomorrow, any suggestions/recomendations/advice please, appreciate it.
3:00 you said this wheel goes to 1080 degree rotation, but from what I know all the Xbox variants of the thrustmaster wheels are 900 degrees and the Pc/PS4 versions are the ones that go to 1080
@@KingdomChablo I got the Ferrari Evo version of the t300 with the shifter. That will probably be too much for me. I bought the play seat as well so nice little mid range rig
@@Eddz94 im thinking of buying the ts-xw wheel even though it's pricey but it sounds really good. My previous wheel was a cheap £99 I got 6 years ago and stopped using it in 2017. @@KingdomChablo well I get it tomorrow from Amazon so I don’t know yet lol. I just bought the Logitech g29 this month but I’m returning it and got the t300 instead cuz I needed a little more of an experience and realism
Yes, to do so you need a special adapter that, conveniently, Thrustmaster sells: shop.thrustmaster.com/en_gb/db9-pedals-t-rj12-adapter.html I had my G25 pedals connected to my T300 with this adapter so I know it works.
Well that sucks as I have the same rig set up and wanted this wheel but after seeing the power cable and how you had to bend the lead im not sure I want to get it stupid how they didnt think of this as a issue
@@IIMado A LOT more FFB, quicker response times, swappable wheel rims, among so many other things. I recently swapped it out with my old G29 because I was testing something and I thought the FFB was set at like 25% when it was actually maxed out. @@OCRacing Good to hear man! Yeah the G920 also has the gears so feel able it's a good "do I like some racing" wheel but after that an update is needed
I don't have space for a rig unfortunately but I'd get this and clamp it on my office desk... there is very little on the internet about how the table clamp works...
Hi there Norbert - Sorry for the late response, didn't see this comment until now. I didn't mention the clamp simply because I didn't use it, I recognize that I probably should have for the sake of the review. I've used other clamps from Thrustmaster and they tend to be pretty straight forward and solid. They hook up the wheel and tightly cling on into the bottom of a desk. Unless you're absolutely yanking the wheel around, I would not imagine it being a problem. Hopefully this helps and/or removes any doubts you may have had.
@@OCRacing thank you... I ended up getting the wheel and the table clamp holds well although I noticed that during a racing sessions I can move it up vertically a tiny bit and if I do this too often it would eventually slide off in one direction :) I come from g29, very happy with the purchase
Consider getting a wheelstand, they fit in a reasonably small space, and they are not super expensive. I have experience with the thrustmaster t300 clamped to a desk, bolted to a wheelstand, and now bolted to a cockpit. The wheelstand is not as stable as the cockpit, but i think it was way better than clamping it to a desk. Just a friendly tip, if you find the desk clamp a bit problematic, like i did.
@@OCRacing It's just an extra button that you can map for whatever you want in any game you play. For example, I use it as my trans brake button on one game.
Thanks for this great review! Nice video. May consider upgrading to this base later on. I'll see how my TX base holds up for a while. And, what happened at the end of the vid?? You ok? you drop the wheelbase on your camera or what? Lol
@@akwest1390 the TX wheelbase is not bad at all. I have had it for a couple of months now and it's pretty nice for entry level sim racing I would say. It is one of the more affordable bases made by Thrustmaster, being on the lower end. It does its job well, but it doesnt have very high force feedback torque ratings. For me is fine because I dont need something super powerful. The base shell is made of all black plastic and does not have any red metal like the one in this video does. On some games the wheelbase feels a little bit more finicky than others. I wanted to try and play Snowrunner with a wheel, and that game has options for a wheel controller, but it is NOT optimized very well. Plus for a game like that I need to move the camera around a lot on xbox and with a wheel that is just not feasible I found. Maybe on PC it would be easier considering you could use a mouse along with the wheel. For now, I play on xbox one x until I can get a PC, and the newest Forza games have been the best games to play with. Forza Motorsport 6, 7, and Horizon 4. I also have played Wreckfest with the wheel and it was a great experience. I tried Asetto Corsa on Xbox one before it went away on Game Pass and that was another great one to play. I imagine mostly all these games would be better on PC because of more adjustable controls and button mapping available on PC with most games than xbox. I have the TX leather edition wheel rim which came with the base, and I love the feel of the rim. I honestly feel like the wheel rim itself has a bit better of a quality feel to it than the TX base. But still over all the base is pretty good. The cool thing is that when I can upgrade to the TS-XW in this video, I can buy just the base and keep using my same leather edition wheel rim. The base is Definitely a little bit cheaper than the TS-XW in the video. But the finish and build quality of the one in the video looks a bit better than my TX which is understandable. I think I read somewhere that the TS-XW has better torque ratings and a nicer cooling system for prolonged use also. The TX wheelbase by itself without a wheel rim I think is $349 and the TS-XW is $599 if I remember correctly. I could be wrong but I know they are in that ball park. I got my TX base as a box set with the leather edition wheel rim and the T3PA pedals for $499 which I thought wasnt bad for all that and I really wanted to have a good wheel rather than a controller because I really wanted to get into sim racing. This is a buy I do not regret because racing with a wheel is a lot of fun. A bit tricky at times because you don't have the same super quick response of going full lock like you would with a controller but still a lot of fun. Hope this helps!
Interresting I was thinking about upgrading to GT Track, but saw that cable. I have TS PC racer. But I went and looked and on mine the connector is rotated 90 degrees, so I won't have that problem. They are pretty much same wheel, how weird they designed things so different.
Looking at a couple of teardown videos. The motor seems to be a proprietary patented brushless motor with cooling fan blades built into the back. So it is always cooling itself as long as the motor is running. The small fan in the back is just an exhaust fan like you might get on a PC case. That small fan is pretty generic and some people have replaced it with something more upmarket.
@@stankersten532 Sorry to hear that mate , but that certainly confirms why ill never go the way of that company though. Hence the fact im looking at Thrustmaster and then later a Simagic dd base

Good to hear that, guess should have bought that one. Because i will not be buying anymore thrustmaster wheels. Crap feel and pedals don't last. @@OCRacing Seriously? I heard that the difference is small. Is it a difference in engine power or just the driving experience? Is it smoother or does the belt drive feel like on the TX?

Maybe would. But over here in Ireland, I can't get Fanatec stuff without selling a kidney for import fees, and waiting until March for it to even begin shipping. If it was a speedier process, I might consider them, but because of how painfully slow, and expensive it is to even get their cheaper products, it's really pushing me away.
I am in a similar place, but for me it still makes sense since I will be using it with a Playseat challenge, so being noticeably lighter is a benefit. If you have a fixed rig then yeah, go for a DD wheel by all means.
wow the cable design is extremely weird and to be blunt - stupid. I cannot imagine using this wheel with this cable on desk with it being bent down like that.
That cable looks like the one for the pedal and not the wheelbase. The USB cable I have for the wheel is angle differently so that it runs to the side rather angled down.
My solution is just to raise the whole wheel base an inch or so with wood so the STUPID cable isn’t touching the mount lol.. i honestly spent a few minutes laughing to myself when I noticed how much of a drawback that thing is. Sick base though
Logitech wheel bases have a "cheap plastic feeling"? Only cheap plastic I can feel on the Logitech is that little thing on shifter knob. What I see here is just Thrustmaster fanaticism, not gonna mention how shitty Thrustmaster was before releasing TS-XW, TMX had issues on the first day of using, T300 was and is the most problematic Thrustmaster wheel, so you shouldn't judge simracing gear just by its looks and "cheap plastic toy feeling" (because hard plastic cogwheels feel like a toy compared to belts that snap and melt like crazy during longer sessions). Edit: It's not a bad product, I just don't understand unnecessary Logitech offense.
I don't know what you're talking about dude. I've had my TSXW with extreme abuse for years and years. With force feedback and everything always cranked. I've literally never had a single issue. I've played for over 12 hours straight (during quarantine) before. I came from a g920 which I actually did love. But the upgrade to the TSXW is night and day difference. The Logitech is awesome for the price point and gets you into sim racing. Don't be mistaken, the Logitech wheel and pedals price is for a reason. One of the biggest reasons being the largest tech stuff is just all plastic cheap Feeling crap. You don't really realize how bad it is until you upgrade. My sparco wheel for example any of the rims I have literally feel like a race car steering wheel. They are exact replicas. Logitech wheel is an abnormally tiny plastic wheel with a plastic base and plastic pedals. It's not about dissing Logitech. I'm pro Logitech. But it's a review video. And if we're comparing the TSXW with the Logitech wheels during this review, then you're going to hear the truth which is the Logitech is like 99% plastic. 🤷 Not something to get mad about bro. You'll upgrade one day as well

Hi bro quick question. I'm upgrading from a tmx, do you reckon the ts-xw or the CSL DD. The TS is 50 dollars more expensive
I love my TSXW but I can imagine it being better than a direct drive wheel. So I would probably go for the CSL DD
Csl DD for sure but remember fanatec wheels are really expensive 😉
@@FullFledged2010 that's why I'll be using my IRL drift wheel ;)
3:00 you said this wheel goes to 1080 degree rotation, but from what I know all the Xbox variants of the thrustmaster wheels are 900 degrees and the Pc/PS4 versions are the ones that go to 1080
You are wrong. According to their website this wheel goes to 1080 degrees.
That's only true for T150/TMX and T300/TX. Their higher end wheels all go to 1080°
@@118Shadow118 i can confirm this lol

I just got the TX and it didn't include a usb cable to connect to a laptop, was it supposed to include one?

What is the equivalent to this wheel base for PlayStation platform. I bought the Ferrari edition thrustmaster 300
t-gt. you may also like to wait until june 23rd when thrustmaster may launch the successor to the t-gt. it could be the same for the xbox side too.
But I'm ready to come back to racing. The rig I will use is the gt omega apex to save space. It's cheap. How is the t300?
@@KingdomChablo well I get it tomorrow from Amazon so I don’t know yet lol. I just bought the Logitech g29 this month but I’m returning it and got the t300 instead cuz I needed a little more of an experience and realism
Do the padles from the Logitech g29 work with this wheelbase?
Yes, to do so you need a special adapter that, conveniently, Thrustmaster sells:
shop.thrustmaster.com/en_gb/db9-pedals-t-rj12-adapter.html
I had my G25 pedals connected to my T300 with this adapter so I know it works.
Well that sucks as I have the same rig set up and wanted this wheel but after seeing the power cable and how you had to bend the lead im not sure I want to get it stupid how they didnt think of this as a issue
On Amazon someone is selling a lock ring to try and fix the screw problem
I know the new DD is coming but I getting this wheel as an update for my G920. Would this feel as a big upgrade?
Massive upgrade
@@OCRacing Ty so much, I was a bit "uch what if its not even noticible" but now I'm going for it. Thanks again!
@@IIMado A LOT more FFB, quicker response times, swappable wheel rims, among so many other things. I recently swapped it out with my old G29 because I was testing something and I thought the FFB was set at like 25% when it was actually maxed out. So yes, well worth your money and a huge upgrade for the G920! Let me know how it goes!
@@OCRacing Good to hear man! Yeah the G920 also has the gears so feel able it's a good "do I like some racing" wheel but after that an update is needed
I just brought one as my g920 is starting to play up! I cant wait for the new one :')
I ended up getting the wheel and the table clamp holds well although I noticed that during a racing sessions I can move it up vertically a tiny bit and if I do this too often it would eventually slide off in one direction :)
I come from g29, very happy with the purchase
Consider getting a wheelstand, they fit in a reasonably small space, and they are not super expensive. I have experience with the thrustmaster t300 clamped to a desk, bolted to a wheelstand, and now bolted to a cockpit. The wheelstand is not as stable as the cockpit, but i think it was way better than clamping it to a desk. Just a friendly tip, if you find the desk clamp a bit problematic, like i did.
Is TX good for 2022
Whats the button on the right side for im still confused by it🤔
I wish I could answer that but in all honesty, i've never once touched it.... lol
Lol
Whats the tx like?
Hmm, interesting 🤔
Nice
Would you still recommend buying today?
Does someone know which motor is used in this wheel base? Couldn't find any info about it online
Can I use my tmx wheel to put it on this base ?
You used T-LCM usb cabel for wheel base thats why your usb cable didn't fit.
welp fanatec just announced a new direct drive wheel for the same price as the tsxw

Is this belt type as t300rs gt?
Dose this thrustmaster wheelbase have that neutral clunky zone. My TX leather is a disappointment. The feel takes away from the emersion.
Not too sure what you mean by "neutral clunky zone". From my experience, I've never had any problem with the TSXW's in-game performance. Absolutely nothing that has taken away from the immersion if that's what you're worried about.
Good to hear that, guess should have bought that one. Because i will not be buying anymore thrustmaster wheels. Crap feel and pedals don't last. I watched most videos i could find on my wheel before buying, and low and behold no one talked about this feel in wheel. But after doing some research , this is a common feel in belt drive wheels.

I wonder if this is kind of obselete now that fanatec has the CSL DD in this price range
Maybe would.
But over here in Ireland, I can't get Fanatec stuff without selling a kidney for import fees, and waiting until March for it to even begin shipping.

Tbf Logitech got a lot of craptalk from people because of their sim racing products, but their reliability is just unbelievable
@@mArvAlcao71 you are right, my g27 is 100% working since 2013
