    I know this stuff isn't exactly dirt cheap to produce, but my "insane price gouging to take advantage of a diehard fan-base" senses are tingling when it comes to racing sim gear. I can almost guarantee they have a massive profit margin on every single product.

    • @AcD420
      @AcD420 3 роки тому +60

      I agree. However you have to remember that producing just one wheel with all factories set up might be like 10$. There have been put in a loooot of money for rnd in order to make the wheels and tech that goes into wheels and pedals. So while one wheelbase might cost them 10$ now, it have might cost them millions to get there, and as a consumer, you have to pay for that. Also it will take some time for them selling their new product before they are even, so products will never sell good enough to break even and others will bring in 1000x what was spend on the total production and research of it.
      So yeah it might be overpriced looking at what one wheel will cost to produce after it’s been in production for 6 years, but there were also years before they started selling them where they only made a loss on the product

    • @ChinchillaisGod
      @ChinchillaisGod 2 роки тому +7

      @@AcD420 I agree. I think the only wheel that cost a decent chunk of money to make was the SF1000, as it is made with real carbon fiber and has a lot of electronic features within it. Other than that, it probably does cost $10-20 to make any T series wheel.

    i just got the G920 with shifter and a separate e brake from amazon, all for 345, legit saved over 500 dollars, honestly really the only thing i can say about the thrustmaster "equal" is that its belt driven, which ive never used but is probably a hell of a lot quieter then the clunking of these gears, tho i do enjoy the way this wheel feels regardless

  • @alejogs500

    I've owned two Thrustmaster tx Wich delivered good force feedback and good racing experience... While they lasted. Unfortunately both bases died after les than 500h of non intensive use. After being frustrated for the poor reliability decided to buy a Logitech g923, and it worked fine and prove to be much more reliable and durable, but it's force feedback was a big step down compared with the Thrustmaster tx. Finally decided to get a fanatec csl dd and I'm really impressed with it's ffb and general quality. A much better experience and in my opinion it's totally worth the price tag.

  • @ahab9712
    @ahab9712 2 роки тому +16

    To be honest you can race even at high levels without force feedback. If you've never used ff before you can get used to non ff wheels pretty easily. You just go off of revs, audio and visual cues rather than feel. I know it sounds weird but muscle memory works with anything. ff helps immersion but lap times won't change although if your not used to non ff it can be hard to find the limits which obviously will hinder your lap times until you get the muscle memory down.

    I have the TMX force feedback, and I recommend it as a starting wheel, I really wouldn’t go cheaper, but this is a decent setup. The pedals are very lacking though, if you get the pro, they will enjoy it much more. But I do believe there is better options because every upgrade I would get for the wheel is expensive, 150 dollar pedals if i want them metal and a clutch, 100-150 for a H shifter, and idk what I could use for an ebrake

    • @Unboundiing

    You do realize that the T-GT is a slightly pimped up TS-XW but for Playstation 4 and 5 instead of Xbox right? I don´t understand the logic of why you claim the T-GT with pedals at 600 $ is a bad deal but the TS-XW at 700$ is fairly priced! When in fact they share the same internals but the T-GT has some extra bells and whistles.

    after owning a t500rs for over 5 years now, i have to say it's a great mid-tier wheel if you can find one second hand and most certainly worth taking a look at. crisp FFB and 900 degree rotation, coupled with a decent set of pedal that can be inverted to a hanging GT-style setup. you can also find a 70mm adapter to mount any aftermarket sport steering wheel to the t500 base, losing al the buttons tho but having a 300mm wheel instead of the tiny stock wheel has made it feel a lot more realistic imho.
    my wheel and pedals are mounted to a selfmade metal cockpit that i cobbled together with a 100 dollar trip to the local hardware store, and using an old car seat i got for free at the local dump. i've also put small caster wheel under the entire cockpit so i can wheel it out of the way whenever i use my computer for other games than racing.

      On most cars in real life you have to push down to be able to get the reverse, other have a ring to push up or down etc… This prevents accidentally putting the reverse instead of the first.

    I don't know when new thrustmaster came out, but there is T248 now with magnetic pedals. On the other hand, T300 supposed to be better wheel has generic pedals like the T150 pro.
    Also dutiful to remind that hub, handbrake/shifter and led display holder are not compatible with wheels below T300. As a matter of fact hub is required to use both handbrake/shifter and regular shifter on compatible wheel, a single add on won't require the hub.

      Yeah I really have only recently started researching this stuff since the only experience I've had with steering wheels was some cheap no-name useless paper pressess I'd get as a kid for pennies at local store as a gadget. Thought nothing of it and kind of grew apart with racing games. Recently got back into it and discovered that I enjoy it them a lot now and am pretty decent at it too. When I saw FFB Wheels my jaw dropped, I literally had no idea these things existed. And like you I First saw G29s then Discovered the T300RS GT series and was pretty hyped for that until a friend told me that there's CSL DD.
      For my first Wheel sometime in a few months I'd probably end up choosing CSL DD with the P1 Elite WRC wheel, CSL Pedals with Load Cell and Clutch.
      All-together it ends up some 100 euro ish more than T300RS GT, and I think it's definitely going to be worth it adding that much.

    As far as I understand, the TS-XW, T-GT, & TS-PC are pretty much the same wheel bases internally.
    I had a G27 that I used for GT5 and GT6, and I always wanted a T500RS because I used one in a tournament and couldn't believe how much better it is compared to the G27. I would love to buy a T-GT, but availability of sim racing gear here in Mexico is not great, so I will have to settle for the GT Kit of the T300RS. I'm literally just patiently waiting to see if Thrustmaster will release a new version or a new wheel base for the PS5 and GT7.

      There's a couple of ways to look at this. A crappy wheel might give you a less than positive overall enjoyment of sim racing/rallying. A good wheel in conjunction with either a good PC or Playstation 4 will give you much more. I went for a T300S that has a decent Feedback and overall good performance (on my PS4). Then add the hours spent with it, and compare the cost of the wheel with what spending the same amount of hours in an amusement park. You'll find that the $ per hour spent is in favour of the wheel. And since this wheel will give you a fair bit of enjoyment chances are that you'll keep on using it, which works in your favour. Both in pleasure as well as cost for amusement (per hour) you'll find it's worth the investment.
      So what if you start from the steep end, and get yourself a Fenetec with all the thrills and spills? Well of course you can do that, but you then have committed yourself in getting bang for your bucks. This may pan out just fine, and a new pro sim racer is in the making. But the seating position may become an issue quickly. The coffee table holding your wheel base and driving from the couch won't cut it. A sim-rig provides more stability to counter the forces a genetic base is capable of delivering. So add 350+ for a decent rig on top of a fenetec set. Hmm. So there's the up fromt choice on investment you would think through.
      I added a simple wheel stand (angular steel tubing bolted together) to my T300s which got me going. Been using that for over a year now. Thinking about an upgrade to a decent sim-rig. Once I notice the wheel starts slowing my progression I might upgrade to a fenetec, but I'm not there by a long shot yet.

    Dont buy any of their driving sim equipment. It doesnt matter what model of wheel. They are all full of the same cheap parts. Buyer beware with this stuff. If your new buy a logitec! this stuff looks okay but is absolute garbage, typically your pedals will last a week. I have the upgraded pedals Ferrari rim on a t300rs. im in about 1000.00 bucks on this crap. TRUSTMASTER is garbage. They act like they dont have any idea that the cheap springs in the throttle are not a problem? lol two sets of pedals with the same problem. save your money, get a simcube or fanatec. horrible customer service. ya 200 dollar laod cell thats a joke get the fanatec pedals with the adapter. so theres another 300. trashmaster

    and here we have a drifting tutorial where the person teaching the tutorial basically just tells you to figure it out yourself. they don't tell you anything about the parameters of tuning that affect drifting directly, they don't tell you what throwing the wheel means, when they actually mean to throw the car's body weight around. and then they tell you to just keep trying stuff. this isn't a tutorial, this is just, here watch me do it and not tell you what needs to be done to accomplish it. there's a whole lot of just try stuff going on without telling anybody specifically what they should be trying or watching for etc
