I live in a Ski Town

- After living in Hungary, Ohio, New Jersey, and Florida, I can honestly say that living in the middle of the mountains of Colorado, in a ski town, is something COMPLETELY different than I could have imagined. With it's ups and downs, for me it's a total YES.
We truly believe we found our forever home, Telluride. (Unless God has some other plans in the future)
Couple Fun Facts about Telluride:
- #1 Ski Resort in North America 2012-2014, 2016
- Highest commercial airport in North America - 9078ft
- Only free gondola public transportation in North America

I believe God brought me to your youtube videos today for inspiration and motivation. I related to you and your journey. I'm also a Clevelander and had lived in South Florida and also lived in Colorado and was on a very similar journey. I moved back to Ohio from Colorado and put my life on hold to care for my g-ma who got struck with dementia. God helped me care for her by myself and keep her out of a nursing home. She just passed away this past December and now she is with God. I was ready to move on with my life but COVID-19 hit the US and put a stop to everything. I had been drowning in negativity until I saw your video in Telluride and your other videos that helped inspire me be positive and keep the faith in God. I just wanted to say thank you for your inspiration, positivity and great preaching! May God continue to bless you and your family.
Scammer
coming from there I can telluride
You are living a life that others take for granted, or wish they could. Your smile is nice. Way to go.
You forgot City Market....target sucks. Lol it's worth the drive to city market once a week for food. I lived in Telluride for 8 years....ate at Flora Dora almost everyday lol. Boarded the mtn over 60 days per season. Would have been more but had to drive to Montrose for work. Lots of stuck up locals who think their parents money makes them better than another human being. That's my only complaint about Telluride. I thought no other terrain compared to Telluride...but now I know Taos is better.....with even less hiking for bigger runs.
Thank you very much for this video! Lots of great info! Blessings to you! ☺️👍🏼
I was hoping you'd upload a video like this next! It's beautiful there!! :)
I’ve gone every year in the winter since I was 2 and sometimes in the summer, and it’s my favorite place on earth. In the summer, I saw a bunch of teenagers and kids playing soccer and games in a field surrounded by nothing but mountains. I was so amazed at how lucky they are, and how beautiful it was. Yet they didn’t seem to care at all. I know if I lived there I would be grateful every day and never stop looking at all the beauty around me.
I hope that you washed that apple before you ate it.
I really love your video! I live in Norwood and I‘ll ski in Telluride! thanks for giving us such a good poin of view
Thanks for the video.
Living the dream!!...thanks for sharing
I feel very fortunate that i had the opportunity to grow up in this beautiful mountain town and have taken away so many experiences with me. Ski pe, seeing wildlife (bears, elk, coyotes)
Coffee Cowboy always my go to when i visit. 😊
I love this! I have visited a few times with my family and I am really considering being a seasonal worker at a ski resort
I just found your channel and I love
Great Video!! Thanks for sharing
Eliz...you are awesome ! You gave an honest and entertaining (no stupid stuff) quick review of Telluride. You should do travel videos for a living. Being from the east coast, I often watch videos of western areas that interest me. So many of them are poorly produced and offer very little “real” content. All the best with your new home.
Richard Lynch that was so sweet thank you!!
Richard I am disgusted with many of the travel vlogs on UA-cam ... a lot of narcissism.... I'm so unimpressed by how some people make it all about them .
I love it when people make it more documentary-style which is definitely harder to come by in this day and age .
You're right about the poor content in many cases .
I hope if she makes travel vlogs that she will show more of the places , the buildings , the mountains ... more of everything . I watched several other ones today by other people and felt disgusted .
Love this video, love to live there! FYI, airport in Leadville, CO is the highest in N America! 900 ft higher than there, not taking a shot at you, I’m a pilot so I know both airports!
Cool video. Lovely dog..
Good Job, young lady. I only get to see Telluride thru the webcam. I'm a city boy and would love to visit there for about a week.
I know you said this wasn’t a go to telluride kind of video but I got amazing captures thanks to you since I’m going In February super excited
We lived there for a year, we will be back to relocate soon!!! A member of our family was born there, we are looking forward.
Fun Fact: Wilson Peak is the mountain pictured on the Coors label.
Love the closer to the sun comment...too funny!
i live a couple miles from keystone, tattoo at summit ink and it's pretty sweet as well.
just went to telluride this summer and loved it. gorgeous place for sure.
I lived in a nearby community and had to drive two hours to do any shopping. It was part of the adventure-embrace it.
Just got hired to work the gondola here and I have no idea what to expect (I'm moving from Missouri) but this makes the town look pretty cool!
I'm looking to move out west somewhere in the states to be near tons of snowboarding (I now live in Prague, about 5 hours from the Alps which is too far). Isn't it super expensive to live there?
I live in Croatia and you are very interesting. Thanks for the upload.
Telluride is the best place ever to ski and have been going all my life and going again in march
Heading to Telluride from the other end of the earth in Jan , Can't wait! Nice vlog:)
Serious question...I was in Telluride beginning/middle of March last year and found most of the employees around town to be quite cranky and annoyed. I live in Denver/Vail and don't seem to find that personality as much as I did in Telluride. Do you think it was because it was getting toward the end of tourist season (AKA; the middle of TEXAS spring break!!!) and employees were just kinda "done" with tourism season and ready for the quiet of the off season. I really tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but it became obvious that locals were not very nice. Granted, the snowfall was pretty dismal in 17/18 so maybe that contributed to it?
Entik Engel yeah, I figured it was just bad timing on multiple fronts. Had a great time anyway and heading back for a guys ski trip in a couple of months. I’ve heard great things about the people at Telluride so I’m sure it will be different this time around. Beautiful place.
I really enjoyed your video , it it full of good vibes, ofcourse your doggie is my fav of the video tho 💚
You’re so lucky, wish I lived in a ski town in the Alps Europe
Yeah me too, I live in the netherlands so I can only ski one week a year when going on vacation😥
I had a blast last summer going to Telluride. Went on 5 major hikes.
Multiple restaurants. Ghost Town is the best coffee shop there. Living
Tea was the best experience I had the whole time. Too many good things
to say!
Was there this summer and Ghost Town closed down. So sad but housing is too expensive for workers. Other places are closing for the same reason. Billionaires who live there should subsidize housing or they won’t have any restaurants to go to. And raising meal costs won’t work. I paid $77 for just appetizer, pasta with mushrooms and one glass of wine. That’s why you see people eating pizza all the time. Only thing that’s affordable.
wait, can I technically take "free public transportation" and snowboard down?
No. If you get off at the top terminal, they scan your ticket before letting you ski/ride down. They obviously know if you are skiing/riding since you would have your gear with you (versus just wearing street shoes and clothing, say, for getting off mid way to take photos or eat/drink at Allred's Restaurant)
In the summer you can take your bike up for free
@@burrows10011 wait do you live there and if you do is there affordable housing
@@danmathew3771 there is housing, but it’s not affordable.
i realize I am quite randomly asking but do anybody know a good site to watch newly released movies online ?
Where in Ohio are you from?! I'm from Cleveland and I'm actually interested in living in Telluride this spring for about 2-3 months. Do you know what the rental scene is like? (if there is one)
Just curious......do you still live there and if so plan to stay long term?
Lol who knows if you're checking your comments after three years but found this while searching for Vail! My CO uncles dared me to apply and after a really bad shift at a survival job, and months of jobsearching after college, I did so. Friends have been saying I should also check out Telluride, Steamboat, etc if I decide to stay in CO!
LOVE THIS! Thanks for the candid explaination. 1.5 hours away to the nearest chain? I would be big on ordering via mail. Shop that way; if at all. It must be so nice. Do you get bored?
I went to telluride a week ago and i tried getting ur beanie but i didnt find it can u tell me were u got it from?
Hey I'm moving from FL to Telluride in a couple weeks. Any suggestions/recs on making the move?

Born and raised in Telluride
(Also I think my dad is your neighbor)
What is a comfortable salary to live on in telluride? I'm planning to move to a ski town. Thanks
Need to get that ski hat for my wife for Xmas. Where can I get one? Thanks.
Moves to T-ride December 24th. Posts a video on February 28th. Calls herself a "local".
Oh child, you cannot do that until you've been there at least a decade. And all the "tourists" you refer to in your video... you are one.
John FitzGerald living in a town does make me a local. But thanks for your solid comment 👌🏼
My winter break longer than that, she prolly got 2 days on her season pass lmao
No it doesn’t. It makes you a kook. Get over yourself.
@@ElizFulop What part of Florida did you end up moving to?
Cool as shit! I love Telluride. When I lived in Utah (skiing Snowbird almost daily) I used to make trips to ski Colorado and I always always always preferred Telluride. Awesome town, Great skiing!!
What is your theme music? It's great. Your dog's name is Walt?
i love it beauituful mountain
I'm from Vail, I feel you.
Ace Hardware, Telluride, is also a chain store.
Wilson Peak is the same mountain seen on Coot’s cans.
I visited telluride in 1990 ! 2 months accommodation was $900 bucks , season pass was 770$ bought 3 pairs of top range rossignol skis for 700$ the lot included bindings ! Do you still live there??
it’s been exactly 1 year.... verdict?
Just got this in my recommended but just wanted to say 6:12 is the cutest little clip in the video 🥺💗
Loved your video, truly inspiring!
Moving to Crested Butte from Phoenix next week - lol
i’m going next week!
Buy bulk foods online. It doesn't work for produce, but you can save big time on staple foods.
I loved telluride
A very nice town I loved it
I am moving to Telluride in 10 days, I am from Spain but I am working in Indiana so, it is going to be a huge change! I loved your video!
I'm living near Montrose now but will be in Telluride a majority of the ski season. I recently went to film school in Orlando. Please let me know if you ever need any help with any projects! I am about to upgrade cameras and will be using a Gh5(s). P.S. that is a beautiful dog!
Thomas Harrison hey Thomas that is super cool- it would be awesome to connect! Can you email me at: eliz@pinehighfilms.com 😊
Do you still like living there?
Cool video 👍
getting casey neistat vibes from this
Wow😍ifound my movin buddy
I'm thinking about moving somewhere in the mountains
4:03 was there seriously a guy going down the slope with a bike lol
I worked as a lifty at mammoth mountain in ca for 3 years. 8 years later I'm heading out here in the upcoming weeks with just money from the stimulus check. You can make things work in places like this with little money. As long as you have work lined up first
I wanna come to Aspen!
Omg I know the lady @ 5:40
Shes a ski instructor. She used to come to my bar when I worked at Hotel Madeline which used to be called Capella.
I miss Colorado😭
I got an interview there next week for an IT role....wondering how the heck workers afford to live there on normal salaries? The role i'm interviewing for would probably be around 60k. Puts the 3k/month apartments I've been seeing way out of my price range
They live in Montrose.
I will be visiting CO in another week. Love the state and my opportunity to visit my family, darn COVID!!!🇺🇸🐻
Going to be there in 2 weeks
Please give me a link to that hat. I’ve been there twice and I’ll go back, it is wicked cool. I have a UA-cam video on the best hotel room ever ( it’s in Telluride )
thats a cool place to live....no pun inteded
How does Telluride compare with Park City? That’s an intermediate middle-aged skiers paradise for those wanting long runs that aren’t that hard.
2nd highest airport, actually... Leadville Airport at 9,934 ft is the highest (and it's the highest city in North America, as well). So Telluride takes an honorable 2nd place at 9,070 ft. ;-)
Awesome vid!! Makes me want to do a video about being a normal local in Aspen! :)
Ehhh actually it's the highest regional airport... Leadville is only a small county airport... It might be the highest actually airport but telluride takes it for being classified as a Regional
Okay, okay.... fair 'nuff. Lol
My wife found your vlog and sent me the one on you and your spouse moving to Colorado. It’s very like us right now. We both know we want to live in Colorado but it’s just taking that step of faith and going for it with our 2 children. May I ask what your jobs were that you found when you first moved there. Also, is he a Great Dane?
Caleb Smith hi!! For sure do it! He’s a Great Dane yes and we also have a baby now. I’m a wedding videographer and personal trainer (aka i have my own businesses) and he drove for a limo company/did construction on the side and now works for the town of mountain village. Jobs are not a problem- it’s housing that’s a problem lol.
Fuck off. Stop raising our rent you gapper yuppies..
I think that’s super harsh boba I say you get out of this chat
What do you do for a living to afford to live there? And how old are you since you are already living in a mountain town.
Carmella King I own a personal training business, videography business and do network marketing. Started all from nothing now we here :) it’s all possible if you work hard until you hit your goal. I’m 24.
Eliz Fulop oh wow, congratulations on your success! Maybe one day I’ll do that for myself, but how would I know that business or just me working hard will pay off in the long run?
Carmella King there’s nothing you know “for sure”. It’s more like taking a chance on yourself and working as hard as you possibly can by faith. Believing that one day it will pay off. Only way to fail is to give up.
@@ElizFulopWow that was deep haha. Thank you for the advice! :)
I lived in Telluride for about ten years. The only real good part of skiing there is that there’s no lift lines. You have to deal with two very long off-seasons when theres no work because most all the jobs are seasonal and pay very little. After a couple years the summer festivals you avoid because it’s all the same shit and you get tired of all the tourists. You have to drive an hour and a half just to get groceries. Seems like half the year round residents are mentally ill and they never get treated because there’s no mental healthcare facility. So glad that I made the choice to leave. Good luck!
Are you still in Telluride?
So do you not like living there or you do?
I’ve never skied a day in my life and I don’t really have any desire to. I would love to live in a Mountain town for the summers, to escape the humidity of Eastern summers, hate it so much
I just visited Telluride during spring break, and let me tell you it is one of the nicest, most beautiful cities in America!! I will definitely be going back to visit, if not live there in the future
@@rokkin1234 telluride and Colorado suck.. we're full.
Aaron Jamnik well I’m coming back this spring break 😛
I'm from Philly yeah we used to get some horribly hot and humid days and nights in the summer .
Despite the humidity when I lived in Tampa Florida I didn't think conditions were as bad as the Dallas Texas area.... just brutal relentless sun and Heat day after day after day .
Someone who traveled everywhere swears Oklahoma was the hottest most brutal place to live.... and he's here in Dallas..... so I believe him .
When I was younger I always wanted to move to Colorado.... that I was very surprised to find out they don't get much rain there . I love the rain .I miss it ... seems like they get less rain in Colorado than they do here in Texas.... hard to believe
But I guess you'll love that. Enjoy
Hi, I was hoping to do a trip with my family from April 12-17 this year, do you think there will still be visible snow? Or has all of it melted by then(hopefully not)
Mariam Padrosa hey girl! I’m sure there will still be snow- tho you never know. I would recommend coming before April 7th because off-season starts then which means the mountain closes, free gondola closes, lots of stores and restaurants close. And you definitely want to enjoy Telluride for all that it is 😊
I am also a local in telluride
Beni Paluska Durango!
Do u still live in telluride?
I live in T-ride also!
Not your only chain store. U have a Ace Hardware! Haha
I recently moved away from Telluride. I lived at Eider Creek. I had my own placed there for seven years. Great place!
I lived in telluride for around ten years bouncing around from seasonal job to seasonal job. The off seasons were brutal trying to make ends meet. The ski season is very short but the fact that theres no lift lines makes it nice. The summer festivals at first were nice but after a couple years were boring to me. Decided to move because there just wasn’t any great work opportunities there. Other than that i enjoy my time there for the most part.
Kevin Schwinkendorf I 100% feel that.
I drove for mountain limo for a while. Shopped at city market after dropping passengers at the montrose airport. That was nice because the grocery stores in telluride are such a rip off.
Kevin Schwinkendorf haha that is funny we too drove for mountain limo. And dial a ride.
Hahaha! I also drove for dial a ride. Couldn’t stand robert Spaghetti
Is he still the transportation director?
i live here too!
From a local there is two super markets and it is heavily local based mainly not a tourist town

So did you get the job
@@gardensofthegods nope ended up getting one at aspen snowmass
@@doowahthunderclap4315 well I hope you really have much success with it and that you really like it there
@@gardensofthegods thanks friend!
I can't even afford to just look at a house there on your video.
This is hilarious, most 'locals' don't live in T-ride they instead can only afford renting and commuting from Montrose or Ridgway. I can't even afford to live in Durango and must instead commute from 12miles out. Oh and when I say most I'm talking about service industry workers, which include restaurants, shops, parks and rec, transit, gondola/ski resort, water works, etc.
I dig your vibe. Thank you for the video! And thanks for that beautiful Tears for Fears throwback at 4:43 :) How has Telluride treated you so far? How would you rate living there in the summer?
Hi friend! Summer was awesome! Very mild temperatures- lots of hiking, lots of tourists and festivals. Actual summer weather lasted about 2 months.
graduated high school in aspen , i know how it is..

Lmao the telluride airport is like the second sketchiest airport for approaches in North America. Eagle Vail is super sketchy too

I live in Colorado
Step one move to remote location
Step two complain because supplies are expensive
Exactly - lol. I was there on vacation with a lot of family a few years back. One relative was griping because of how expensive things are - what the heck do you expect? It is a tourist town in the middle of nowhere and very little competition - all that adds up to things being expensive - welcome to the real world. It is not the local store's fault that you cannot figure out that you should bring basic supplies with you that you can buy in the big city for say $1.25 each but in Telluride at Mountain Village the same thing is $10. If you can afford to go to Telluride, you can afford the high prices.
There was no complaining- just explaining 😘
@@ElizFulop Gotcha. Thanks for the video of Telluride - very happy memories from my stay there.
