    Sweet video Johnathan! This is exactly what I'm currently working on in my life because like you said I realized I HAVE to ski ever day that I possibly can. This year I got myself a job where I'm a 100% remote IT specialist. My next big step is selling my house and getting an RV to live in but that's about a year away.

    Most people will move to a mountain town long enough to figure out it's totally unsustainable lifestyle unless you're on two incomes and have a decent landlord/living situation. I saw so many people give up after just 1 season because it destroys them mentally.

    Excellent Tips. As an instructor, one day you will work a ton and other days you may have a lot of time to ride between lineups. If someone wants to work a lot of hours as an instructor then you must volunteer for all the multiweek lessons/camps that you can to guarantee $$$$. Tips can be great but never expect one.

    • @JohnnyUtah13

    • @CalebSoderberg
      @CalebSoderberg 3 роки тому +1

      @@JohnnyUtah13 You can tip but you don't have to. Don't feel bad. Most instructors get minimum wage unless they have years of experience and/or certifications. Also, at our mountain if you request an instructor then they get double pay for the same cost to you. (only private and semiprivate lessons). Ride On!

    I know this is an old video but do you think moving to Utah is a more viable option than Colorado? Was looking at rent prices and it's all wicked expensive even in Leadville. • @MrHardcoregamerLP
      @MrHardcoregamerLP 3 роки тому +2

      1. Leave very early if you’re going for a POW day
      2. Have good tires
      3. Have chains, and don’t be scared to put them on
      4. At the end of the day, being there ten to thirty minutes late is much better than getting in a wreck. So drive like that

    • @MrHardcoregamerLP
      @MrHardcoregamerLP 3 роки тому

      Also that being said, I’d say 4/5 people don’t have chains and as long as their car is somewhat snow capable they get through fine. Just be ready to go 35 the entire way up when it’s really bad. That only happens 1/5 times or so though, normally they take decent precautions in terms of clearing the road

    • @Sawtorn2

Only thing is, I am from Kentucky where skiing is scarce so Its never been worth it to buy my own gear. When I was 18 in 1990 I took a greyhound bus from New Jersey to Montrose Colorado and took a cab to Telluride with a friend . It was still summer and we were camping in the town campground while looking for an apartment. People were really hesitant to rent to 2 young kids with no job yet. My friend wound up having mental health issues and I couldn't take him any longer so I went back home. He wound up getting a job with the mountain and lived there for years. I really wish I stuck it out. I am 48 now and have a family so moving is out of the question. Maybe when I retire 🙏
