I think the most important thing people are overlooking is VLOS - fortunately the camera survived to fly another day, but the lesson to be learned is to be able to see your drone, don't you think? (PS, nice area though!)
Great flight mate, stunning views, That was a really close call, definitely thought you had lost it there!glad it all ended ok in the end! Watched liked and subbed you buddy 👏👍👌
That mirrored glass look of the water makes DJI go crazy. 🤪 I don’t know if we can still turn off the belly cameras when flying over water. It may help.
You sgould play the lotto lol, you lucky 😆 Always best to turn OA off over water. Great idea with the way point over water but not recommended. It def works better over rough water. I only use way points for hyperlapses. Also waypoints are not always accurate. The deviate a little everybtime. Thanks for sharing. I fly the Air 3, Avata 2 and Carbon. I sold my Potato and Avata 1.
Okay, so what I take from this is, be at least 7m above water. If you get closer, fly manually, so you can reject any unhealthy decisions your drone might take. Would you confirm this? EDIT: Close above water: Fly manually with obstacle avoidance completely disabled.
Even when manually flying, your drone can 'think' it's doing the right thing, and start descending (when over water) and if Obstacle Avoidance is on and set to 'bypass' - so really if wanting to be low while over the water- manual and obstacles off. ;)
Obstacle off, manual control and don't take your eyes off the controller when the drone is out of VLOS...veteran dji submarine operator here. I fly over water every single day, forward, backward, low, high, in manual mostly but also hyperlapse and master on occasion, every season- it is absolutely doable but with the right practices and unfortunately- experience. edit: if you fly over water habitually and don't lose at least one drone, I'll call you Neo forever.
That sweet drone of yours worked a miracle brother! My m3p and a2s have saved themselves on many occasions, not just from water but Bird strikes and other '"obstacles" also. I consider my 6 losses a win, in the final analysis.

Good point take heed...
Still Water is your enemy with your DJI drones...DO NOT HOVER. I'm glad you saved it.
If you're going to fly a camera drone that low, think about an FPV drone instead.

Thanks mate!!!
Incredible footage. Thanks for sharing.
Good save, and good warning to others. Thank you!!
Yikes! That was close 😮
That was a scary moment, glad to see that drone recovered from that situation... ✨

@@ImJustADroneinTheWorld Obstacles off is actually a very important detail.
I'm going edit to root post.

@@flightographist heck yes. In reality I’ve only lost one, a little over a year ago, but I’m not well seasoned quite yet lol
This should come with a warning! ‼️⚠️ Drones have feelings too! Poor thing drowned and you filmed it! You should be ashamed of yourself!
