This helps with the explanation with the bone spurs and arthritis recently found in my vertebrae. I had no idea what would even cause my bone spurs and what a osteophyte was. Thank you for making this video!
Dr Patel, Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise. Having a visual helped me tremendously. Being able to understand not only the possible how/why but an opportunity for better health decisions for myself. Greatly appreciate you and your time. Awesome teaching!!
Sorry to hear about your bone spurs! Bone spurs are not necessarily the things that cause pain! If bone spurs are causing structural issues, they can be surgically removed. But typically bone spurs are the effect and not the cause. Treating the underlying issue with exercise +/- biologic procedures can often help. This is, of course, general information and not medical advice. It is important to get evaluated by a specialist physician to determine treatment options for your particular situations, if trying to avoid surgery a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician may be a great option.
Thank you for such a good explaination!! I just got a steroid injection and an unloader brace for my bone spur/arthritis in my right knee. I have an amazing doctor, but you covered questions that I didn't even know I had! 🥰
Wow I have never had it explained so clearly before. Thank you doctor. 🙏 I have a large painful lump on the inside of my right knee(5 clock position looking from the knee cap as the middle of the clock)(sorry don't know how other to explain it😂), just below my knee cap. This explanation helps me understand things a more clearly. I can't afford any treatment so I will try exercises to help strengthen the muscles. I really appreciate kindness for making the video. I've subbed.🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for your kind words, but sorry about your knee! Lumps in the knee can certainly be due to bone spurs, but can sometimes even be caused by fluid in the knee joint - even if it feels hard like bone! Proper physical examination +/- imaging can often be helpful at determining the exact nature of what is going on in situations like this. Regardless exercise is often the first treatment that I recommend to all of my patients! Wishing you the best in your recovery!
Extraordinarily great talk by the Doctor through self drawn sketches explaining very clearly each part of the Knee and their functions.. so that even an ordinary person can understand.. Big applause to the Doctor… Respected Doctor, are there a few exercises which can strengthen the knee joint & their muscles?
Thank you for your kind words! Exercises for knee joints typically should not only strengthen the muscles around the knees, but also the muscles around the hips and low back. There are some great exercises for knee conditions that can be found on my youtube channel, but if someone has knee injuries, the exercises really should be tailored to the specific condition by a professional such as a physical therapist.
Great discussion! Will check your past videos for discussion of non-surgical treatment for arthritis. I have a bone spur on the inside of my knee. Had ACL repair 20 yrs ago. Have arthritis in that knee now. Lots of exercise to strengthen muscles and stretching for range of motion keep swelling and pain in check. However, can’t jog for more than a mile every others day without pain/swelling. Sucks but better than surgery.
Thanks for your help in my right knee I have osteoarthritis bone & bone the doctor is saying surgery I am worried painful & stiff in the morning or if u sit for long time I need your advice.
I have been diagnosed with Mild Degeneration, Spacing and Bone Spurs in my Right Knee. I am in extreme pain daily already from my Mild Disc Degeneration in my L-3 to S-1 plus pinched nerve in my back. I can barely stand and walk because of it. I am 36 years old. In May of this year I was 35 at the time and fell hard on my right knee and I think that’s what caused my Bone Spur. And I finally have seen a Dr for it last month. I am in severe pain and don’t know what to do. Can you please help? I am trying to prevent surgery. It is 6:41pm my time (Valdosta, Ga)
I really appreciate this explanation. I’m unsure why I have pain one day but 100% feel fine two days later. Then rinse repeat. No medication just maybe blue emu if I’m unable to take the pain. It’s weird how it doesn’t have pain daily.
Excellent presentation. Very well explained. I very painful knees and people always comment, hey do spend time riding horses. 😂 That gives you an idea how bow legged I am. In the bow legged situation, would it be more common to have the kneecap tendon pulling in different directions or the other type of osteoarthritis? One leg is a little worse than the other and currently my right knee can hardly move from pain behind the knee. As you explained it to be Bakers cyst I think. Is there a good specialist in Australia?
Unfortunately, we do not have any treatments that can consistently regrow cartilage. However, cartilage loss isn't always the cause of pain! The good news is that even with cartilage loss, we can often get improvement in symptoms and function.
Hi my name rose I was till about my knee Quad Medial joint and lateral joint and pateliar tendar tendon And Back of my left 🦵 knee so how can I do this with not going to the Dr how can I care it at home with out the Dr
Mid 30s and I can only bend my knee about 50% 😢 multiple ACL and meniscus surgeries due to college athletics injury. Lost hopes. Everyday pain, knee is huge which seems like lots of bone spurs, I wish I could get my knee cleaned up so I can get flexion back. I’m used to the pain and don’t really care. Just want my flexion back 😢
thank you Dr for sharing your knowledge. I have pain in the inner side of the left knee. It hurts when I try to stretch, and if I walk to fast it aggrevates it. ANy suggestions? my xrays show moderate ostearthritis on both knees.
You're welcome, and sorry to hear about your knee. That is a very common area of knee pain that can usually be treated with specific strengthening exercises. I typically recommend patients with this type of knee pain to start with guided exercises from a physical therapist. If symptoms continue, orthobiologic treatments can often provide benefit.
Hi, I am Sushma (47 yr old) from India. I am suffering both knees pain since 8 months due to Osteophytes and median meniscus grade 1 tears. Unable to stand or walk for atleast 10 minutes at a strech without knee braces. I am doing knee strengthening exercise since 3 months but recovery is very slow, do you suggest any surgery?

What was the diagnosis? Do your joints make noise? It is important to know the type of artritis in order to be able to treat

Take collagen with your smoothie better yet cook chicken feet and eat those. They are awesome and rich in collagen.
