      I just had my right knee replaced. It was extremely knock kneed. It's straight now. My left leg feels like these exercises can stave off the 2nd knee replacement. This knee is straight. But, the replacement knee that was made straight is longer than the left. I'm almost thinking I should replace the left in the hopes the length will even out. At the moment, I use double shoe inserts in the shoe of the shorter side. I wonder if I should save my left knee or just replace it

    I'm a very active female veteran, but severe pain in both knees are slowing me down mentally, physically and spiritual. Have been referred for knee replacements in the future; but nothing has been scheduled yet! I swim, line dance, etc. I pray, hope, rub ointments, lose weight etc. plus your exercises will help to improve my knee health. Time to drink some water.❤

    OMG! I was at the ortho today,sitting on the table waiting for him to come in to look at my knee, and I was doing exactly that. After I left (need a knee replacement) I was able to go to the grocery store, the drug store, and out to dinner!!! I had no idea why, but that had to have something to do with it. So glad I found your channel because he wants me to go to PT, but I can't afford it. So I'm going to try all of your knee exercises.

    You have told me more about helping my knee than any doctor. All the want to do is to do knee replacement. I have good range of motion. My pain is bad when I go up and down stairs. I can’t stand long or walk more than a mile at a time. I am going to do these exercises and get better. I’m 75 and work 4 days a week. I’m not ready to give up. I was supposed to have surgery last year and my doctor had to cancel to have her baby. It was meant to be. Keep helping me.

      Dear Sir -
      I have suffered many years with painful knees. I’m at the point of agreeing to knee surgery because of severe pain and the inability to walk without severe pain. Obviously from here videos my stretching has been too intense and probably the reason why I’m in a big huge orthopedic flare up.
      I do Aqua Spin (riding a bike in water) twice a week and I always do Deepwater aerobics once a week. I’m not sure if either of these are doing me more harm than good? I have to walk now with a cane and can’t walk too far at all. My knees are incredibly stiff painful. I have huge Baker’s cyst behind both knees both knees. I want to do one of your programs but I’m not sure which one I should do?Can you please advise me thank you so much you’ve actually given me a little bit of hope that maybe I can avoid total knee replacement. X-rays and MRIs dictate that I need knee replacement of both need ASAP. Appreciatively,

    I'm hoping this can help me. My knees are pretty far gone. Since I am overweight I can't exercise, and the Dr I saw is obviously worried about his mortality rate. There are many reasons why I got in thus condition. Thank you for showing all these exercises! I have missed so much of life, it is very depressing!! Basically trapped inside my home.

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Mary, sorry to hear about your knees and weight. If you're more than 70 pounds overweight, your priority needs to be addressing your diet more than exercising. Not that you can't try exercise by any means, but you likely won't see as much improvement in your situation by focusing on exercise. Getting the extra weight off will make a significant improvement to your overall health and that is worth A LOT!!! Don't shy away from addressing your diet by focusing on your knee pain too much.

    Thank you doctor. Will do all the recommended exercises. I injured my right knee about 18 years ago because of not warming up before a run. It started swelling with water then which needed to be drained. I have a crackling in both my knees when I move them & I also have varicose veins. I realised that my knees are not really getting a good supply of blood as a result & I also dont drink much water which is going to change immediately. I do not want to go for an arthroscopy as I have heard people complain of pain during cold days. I can walk without pain but I cannot dance or run and a result I have back pain from not being able to exercise my back by dancing. What do you think the crackling sound of my knees mean? Should I go for an arthroscopy ?

    Dr.Manuel,you have been extraordinarily helpful to me with my recovery. I do have one question that I am hoping you can give me an answer to. Ok,my bone on bone knee arthritis is definitely at a great spot for me to begin your exercise regimen. I'm currently learning the best nutrition plan right now and I am also working on my gluts daily but my knee is stuck straight. . In all honesty do you think that I have a chance at getting my leg to bend again? My other leg (left) is completely fine and healthy. I will continue to listen to your directions and continue with the exercises and learn what supplements are the best for me to be taking.
    P.S.) is collagen 1and2,,citrus fruits, and ginger along with shell fish with turmeric and ginger all good foods to be eating
    Thank you very much.

    Thank you! I go for double knee shots every 90 days. The effects last only a couple weeks, max. It’s a difficult scenario to know if I dropped 20 pounds I would be pain free (I’m a yo-yo dieter who knows this), but the more weight I gain about my goal weight, the harder it is to walk. The more sedentary I get, the more I gain. I’m tired of starving myself periodically to lose weight. I’d rather be able to keep up consistent walking. I’m hoping these exercises truly work. I’m am anxious to check out the video on “toe exercises”, as I have thought for a long time that my “feet feel out of balance”. I don’t know how to describe it better.🤷🏻‍♀️But I feel like my toes are lifting up when my heel hits the ground instead of gripping the ground.

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Linda! Yes, toes lifting up during walking is usually a sign of not using the toe muscles enough for walking. And this will lead to knee pain over the long-term.

      I had weight gain for other reasons. No gallbladder and no thyroid so unable to digest without digestive enzymes and even then…When I was diagnosed with fatty liver, I started the Keto diet. I lost about 30lbs in about six months, I was walking normally and doing 50 squats with my exercises until something triggered the baker cyst and the rest, 4 months ago. Getting TKR next Monday. I’m eating homemade keto ice cream now and it’s great!

    What do the gluts do for your knees
    How would it benefit the knee

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Andre! Great question! The glutes are important for depressurizing the knee joint. When the glutes engage properly, they allow the quads to relax thus reducing knee joint pressure. Glutes also help to keep the thigh bone from rotating inward (medially) which also adds to the pressure in the knee. Maintaining a long term decrease in pressure in the knee joint allows inflammation to go down and make a painful, bone on bone knee joint feel normal again. As long as there is no major loss of motion in the knee joint, then it's very possible to get back to feeling normal again.

    My 82 year old mother has been diagnosed to have osteoarthritis on her knee no cartillage anymore on her left. She couldn't bare the pain and she just keeps on her bed almost all day, she couldn't stretch straight her knees and always bended. Little movement could give her so much pain. Could this exercise still advisable to her? Thanks a lot! God bless!

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 роки тому

      Hmmmm Louwee Piamonte....that's a tough one. If she's been like this for more than a year, then she might be stuck like that indefinitely because of the changes in the joint. If she hasn't been like that for more than a year then she has a shot at improving. Although, she should go see a manual therapist to work on her knee joint flexibility. Joint, not muscle flexibility. It might allow her to feel good enough to get out of bed more.

    For example…when I kneel…I sometimes have muscle painful hamstring cramping…this also happens if I were to lay on my stomach and reach back to grab my ankle/foot in a yoga class. Why is that happening ? and what can I do to prevent? It seems as if my quads are too tight.

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  2 роки тому

      Hey Mary Helen, sorry to hear about your hamstring cramping :-(
      This usually happens because of the same muscle imbalance that sets up the bone-on-bone knee pain - weak glutes and over-dominant quads. When this happens, the hamstrings also tend to become over-used like the quads. The problem is that the hamstrings are prone to cramping when over-used. So anything that involves bending your knee and hip back can set the cramping off.
      You've got to address the root muscle imbalance problem to prevent the painful hamstring cramping. Addressing the muscle imbalance also helps prevent so many other problems from worsening too!

He said I am bone on bone on my knee and need to do knee rreplacement.I stress when I even think of it. Arthroscopy I only considered because of the fragments of bone. My doctor said the xrays show mild to moderate deterioration of the knees. But I don't believe him. My knees hurt extremely bad. Can't stand for more than ten minutes and the swelling all around and up and down from my knee is really bad. My knees ache really bad under the knee cap and when I am walking I look like I am hobbling. I can only walk slowly short distances and my knees kind of clunk or something and they literally give out with extreme sharp pain that bends me over where I am holding my breath while the pain happens and my toes get very very Charlie horses. What do you suggest? I am getting close to being chair bound. It is pretty scary and I am beyond exhausted from the pain. Please help?

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  Рік тому +1

      Hey Andrea, sorry to hear about how flared up your knees are currently :-(
      Despite your severe pain and limitations, your doctor might be right. It's possible that your x-ray or MRI doesn't look severe even though your pain is severe. And really, that's good news because it means you can probably get the pain and inflammation down without having long-lasting or more permanent effects. You've got to first rest and calm down the irritation. Definitely get on crutches, a walker, or a cane so you can walk without putting as much pressure on your knees. You've also got to start fixing the muscle imbalance.

      @@epmanualphysicaltherapy Thank you so much for your reply!!! I will do as you mentioned and do the exercises. I hope and pray it will work for me. Been praying for an answer. It has brought my activity and life down to near zero and being a woman in menopause with no gallbladder and history of Gerd and effects after a long bout with c difficillus, my weight will not go down. I will ask doctor for hormone test. Just a footnote. My knees started to get so bad I couldn't walk at all. I concluded it was due to my cholesterol pill ezetamine? The day it got the worst I decided to go off that pill after researching what it can do, and the next day swelling went down a bit and pain decreased, very noticeably. I could actually walk again. But they seem to be staying at that level now with periodic decrease and increase of swelling and pain. I have been resting my knees for a couple months now. Although that helps it is not going any where. Same as ever before. Since that all happened, I have noticed a circular bruise around the patella, spread fairly wide, half way around the knee on the inner side of the leg. Worried I am having internal bleeding.
      I really appreciate that you share this content. I cannot afford to pay for any progressive solutions. God bless you. Happy New Year!
