The cooking is impressive as it is. But then y'all are like, let's forage the berries, catch the fish, and cook it in the van that we built. Great work 👏💯
I do a similar dish I call 'Huckleberry Finn'. No salt, just brown sugar in the curing. Cold smoke filets for 15-30 minutes, (keyword being 'cold'). Then add the huckleberry marinade for 2 hours. Drain off the marinade, but don't pat completely dry. Then 'spray' with lime juice very lightly from a small spray bottle. Slice just as you did here. Amazing stuff with a nice chianti or merlot. Skin cracklings as a nice side addition.
Hey my guy, I noticed your smoke detector is pretty low in comparison to your bed set up. I would recommend you move it up to the highest point. Just want you to be safe! Great set up and video!
Rock on wif ya bad selves. Excellent production, Chef. You two make some of THE most relaxing, enjoyable and informative content. Keep up the excellent work!
The creative mindset of the chef to attempt new dishes lives and burns inside you! Keep it up, your video for cooking is unique and an inspiration for folks like me to try and attempt this at home.
Awesome series!! I was raised in Juneau and you pulled on my heart strings at the beginning of the video walking the trail to Point Louisa out by Aiken Rec!! My Mom would drop me off there before going to work as the first Woman Brownshirt Am Trooper. I have fished my guts out there and would warm myself and cook up fish in that small stand of trees!! Thank you so much for this video as it brings back many fond memories!! Thanks-Ron
If your passing through Washington again, I’d like to invite you razor clam digging.! You guys are welcome to park the van at the house or we could stay on the beach.!
Canceled ferries, rain, subsistence eating; you got the quintessential Southeast Alaska experience! (I live in S.E.) I’ll have to try that way of preparing salmon. We have lots of Sockeye and lots of berries!
You can also get a good seal by submerging the bag in water, the water pressure will push the sides of the bag uniformly onto the items inside the bag and squeeze out the air.
05:35 the alarm does that to give u a kind of reminder that the batery's are still good. Because after some time when the batery dies you will see that the beeping will be much slower and softer.
Simple but good and all the berries that's was nice. Just the nature itself it's amazing the air and all the wide space again thank you on the videos and journey you're giving us.
This is absolutely insane! They came out looking awesome, I will absolutely give this a try and may take it one step further and throw it in the smoker.
I paused the video to go to the snow peak website to check out that burner and right after I read this : Do not use cast iron, ceramic, or stone cookware on the Home & Camp Burner as the radiant heat produced by these cookware items can cause the fuel canister to unexpectedly heat up. I press play and watch Taku grab what looks like a cast iron for eggs hahaha ^^ FYI Taku!!!
I didn't know that but I see what they mean. If you use it for a good amount of time and the pan is super hot, it can heat up the gas canister. Makes sense, thanks for the heads up!
@@OutdoorChefLife haha yeah I figured you didn’t know 😂 glad you saw the comment so you can keep an eye on the temp! Love how compact that thing is!! Thanks for your heart and passion in your content and honest feedback on the things you use!
Dude your Van life is actually amazing! Ima it’s there have been ups and downs. Not only with maintenance but your actual lifestyle. But good option for the medium term👍🏻👍🏻
Those looked so amazingly good I grew up eating lox and bagels and it's not easy getting fresh salmon at a reasonable price here in Texas but I lived in Cali as a kid and teenager and I've fished for every species of fish you normally catch from Morro bay down to San Diego! Great video!
I love the recipes you make and glad my partner got me into your videos years ago. It's amazing how the berries completely made the salmon I love salmon so defs doing this go completely purple
Wow. Your van is more spacious than some Tokyo apartments. 😅 I had my fire alarm go off once when I was home alone, it was tree pollen from Aspen trees during a wind storm.
Between you and fisherman'slife, both make the best videos! Can't wait to see what you do with the white King Salmon. Jocelyn is right salmon anytime any place! Cheers 🍻
Aloha, been to Juneau. Fished out of anchor point lodge on shelter island. It’s weird that you can’t drive to a state capital, thought it was kinda cool.
My son, Jonathan Webb first introduced me to blueberries and salmon. The salmon was cooked normally and he poured blueberry reduction sauce over the salmon. I thought he was crazy until I tasted it. We will give your recipe a shot. Looks very good.
Man the contrast of color between the berries and the salmon meat is dope. Got a few blueberry trees growing so got a new recipie to try at next harvest. Great job yall! Hella smackin!
Taku is different man of catch and cook, i see lots of catch n cook but everything is boring, they just use same method to cook fish or something, like pan sear or just grill, but Taku take catch and cook to the next level, its so fabulous. I REALLY APPRECIATE AND ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY!! ❤️🌻❤️
Man, your dishes always look amazing! Some time I just want to jump thru screen and grab a bite. Lol Glad you both enjoyed your trip to Alaska. The southeast is very beautiful. Keep making the great content and safe travels back home.
Love the music in the background. Wish I could find some of those berries you found. Looked like a great day. Never tried salmon with berries but after this video I'm gonna deffenitly try it now.
That’s soooo amazingly delicious 🤤 never ever seen that before. Thank you for your lovely videos. I’m suppose to be packing and I’m too hooked on watching lol
I priced a ticket on the ferry up to Juneau this morning before this amazing video came up....if I had that money to my name I would've been watching this on my final destination. Cheers! Loved the cream cheese salmon bagel ...the color is amazing. Love you guys.
OH EM GEEEEEEEE!!! This is the coolest thing I've seen done to salmon ever! And I just got and filleted my very first sockeye salmon. I didn't do as amazing of a job as you do filleting, but it was only my first time so I was pretty dang proud of myself! Your catch and cooks always make me hungry, but this one BLUE (get it?!?!?) MY MIND!!!!! I'm so glad you two enjoyed our beautiful PNW so much! I need to make this salmon!
The cooking is impressive as it is. But then y'all are like, let's forage the berries, catch the fish, and cook it in the van that we built. Great work 👏💯
This man is constantly making my mouth water over his recipes! 🤤 Keep killing it man.
Going to say what we're all thinking - we can't wait for an Addicted Fishing & Outdoor Chef Life collab! 😉

Jordan needs to take these 2 on the raft
The color of that salmon is amazing. The rich purple and translucent orange is insane. Awesome video Taku! Huge inspiration.

All the best guys!

The great part of doing your own van conversion is if anything breaks, you know how to fix it since you're the one who put it together.
Exactly!

You might wanna check your fire alarm for dust. Dust will also make it go off if it gets inside. Just blast it with some canned air 👍🏼👍🏼
