To me what makes this channel unique unlike most other catch and cook creators is that you’re a real chef and the food you make always look delicious 🤤 Ganbate!!
Just some advice when fishing with treble hooks, instead of setting the hook upwards like a typical single hook setup, pull to your side while reeling in. Yanking with treble hooks will just yank the hook out the mouth. Hope this advice will help you land more fish!
WoW 😮. It’s crazy how you can be both jealous and SUPER happy for someone at the same time. You motivate me bro!!! I’ll get on ur level ☝🏾 day lol !!!!
I grew up in southeast AK but have been living in CA for 15 years and I have to say watching these videos has been a treat. We call the water between the islands "narrows" btw, little fun fact. Keep up the great vids!
takoyaki corndog is genius Taku. I feel like we're going to start seeing them at like high end Japanese restaurants and streetfood too. I want to try one so bad.
Despite what I say below, it doesn't makes me less a fan of you Taku !!!! I will never miss an episode. You're the one who has motivated me to throw off my IT job and go on a vanlife to reconnect with nature and less stressful life, you're such an inspiration since March 2020 when I discovered you through a knife review. Looks super good, but I wonder why everything is most of the time battered, fried into canola oil... but I've been to United States and most fo the meals were battered, even at Maui, most of the menus were filled with battered. It was tasting amazingly good, but not very nice for fat/weight management. Now that I cut flour and sugar(including the bad GMO canola omega 6 monounsaturated, highly refined.. I cook only with olive oil or coconut oil), I'm in the better shape and health of my whole life. Taste is one thing, but repeated sugar isn't good for ANYONE. At least I imagine you move a lot instead of sitting all day, so you don't get fat, but still that not being fat doesn't mean being healthy and I really wish you stay healthy.
If you can find any blue bell flowers, try picking just the flower and eating the white base. Enjoy the sweetness! My friends and I would snack on them occasionally when waiting for the school bus.
I agree. I think they can bite the loose side of the treble hook and pry the hooked side out. I feel like with trebles, you have to yeet them in hard, if you try to play them, they get loose.
I’m a big fan of Gamakatsu open eyed 2/0 or 4/0 Siwash hooks for salmon from shore. You can get rid of the split ring with those hooks. Salmon have hard mouths so you want a hook that can pierce it deep. Those octodogs look amazing!! Thanks for sharing!
Living the dream watching from my small corner of the mitten hope you come visit michigan and lake Erie for our world class walleye and yellow perch fishing some day! 🍻
you are a great fisherman! one thing that helps we with treble hooks is to take a moment and make sure each barb is sharp... hook sharpener is a great tool.
Great to see you guys enjoying the outdoors in Alaska. As always Taku's cooking looks delicious and leaves me wanting some. Great recipes, Content and Fun !! Thanks for taking us along. 💕🚐🎣🌟👍
I love what you guys do but I need you to connect with deer meat for dinner and do a fishing video when you're back in the U.S. proper. Hand diving lobster, spearing grouper and filleting fish in Florida! Clamming, mussel picking and mushroom hunting in Cali! Seems like a dream life to me!!! Keep up the good work and so happy you guys are eating up subs after the big investment in the van and the channel.
just a gear maintenance comment - you want to clean off the saltwater but with a mist or light spray that will dissolve the salt and allow it to drain. Full spray / stream can damage the reel or blow out the grease & oil needed for smooth operation. Keep up the vids dude - absolutely love them. Consider a live stream cook one day :)
This Alaska series is the best! So glad you made it. Definitely a bucket list trip of mine. Let's hope the world gets back up to normal. Thanks for the trip report. That recipe has me on another level of need lol. I just recently made Babish corn dogs. I have a lot of these ingredients. Hell, I'll be around a Japanese market in SoCal this weekend. I may make this sooner than later. I just need to find quality tentacles to make this a reality.
that is an amazing view to wake up to everyday. Stargazing at night must be insane as well. Just the northern lights then you would have get the whole Alaska experience.
Wow I stared watching you around a year ago and I have to say great videos every time, entertaining, informative and extremely well made. You are seriously one of the most underrated catch and cook channels.
This was truly the most creative thing I’ve seen you do. I would eat that in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for your videos they really do give your viewers an opportunity to just relax and enjoy.
Really have my fingers crossed for a forage + cooking collab with you two and @SimpleLivingAlaska!!! :) I found your channel thru a comment on their channel ten days ago, and have been voraciously bingeing your channels ever since!!
Hey Taku I noticed some of your shots have a weird discoloration/exposure difference. Im guessing its from using a Variable ND Filter, I bought one from Gobe and its pretty good but I noticed if you crank the filter all the way to the darkest setting it will do this as well. I'd recommend making sure your ISO is low as it will go and then don't be afraid to bring your aperture up a little so you don't have to go too far with the filter. Hope this helps!
At the end, I was actually fiddling with my other phone and when you went, "oh no my beer!", I thought a commercial came on cause it was suddenly so loud 🤣🤣
It's funny when i first saw the Flying C i was thinking man he should swap that treble for a single hook. A minute later you brought it up! Definitely better landing ratio with regular hooks. Singles will go through the jaw unlike a treble and i feel like the fish has more leverage to get off when only 1 or 2 hooks of the treble are in. Not to mention better for fish that will be released! Keep up the amazing vids!
To me what makes this channel unique unlike most other catch and cook creators is that you’re a real chef and the food you make always look delicious 🤤 Ganbate!!
Theres hundreds of food content creators that are real chefs weirdo
💯 percent! Exactly my thoughts. This guy is a real cook no fake.
@@xclsv1350 Catch and cook to be specific weirdo.
That’s how ballers (eye ballers) roll. Lol
@@asyranaqid644 agreed. Makes a world of a difference. Most people literally just use the same 3 ingredients with a different protein.
That eyeballed corn dog batter looks better than any corn dog I've seen. It looks so fluffy, crunchy, soft and golden.
He’s a baller, He’s and Eye-Baller!!
"I'm a baller..........eye baller" 🤣🤣 Taku with the dad jokes, such gold!
For Fisherman's Life meetup next year, I think you might have to do a takoyoki corndog stand
Taku’s obviously enjoying life in Alaska too much, forgetting his recipes and slipping on his beers 🍻 haha, love to see it!
OooPpllquu or
Always a good day when it’s Taku (&Jocelyn) Tuesday 🥰
Jocelyn: "No chugging. Sip." Taku: "I like my IPAs anyways." [perfect dynamic]
Looks like a hit at the State Fair this year! Hits all the buttons - unusual center, deep fried, nice sauce and CORNDOG!
Anyone else miss the Taku beer sip, head tilted back and the "AHHHHH" sound?

yo taku! you inspired me to go fishing and i am proud to say i caught my first fish this weekend! Its just as exhilarating as you make it look!!!!
👍🏼 Congratulations! Hoping it was delicious! 😋✌🏼
🙌
Jocelyn ate my favorite tiny piece...where the batter is fried to the stick. Crunchy little sucker.
Blessings

That view... your camera doesn't do it justice! 100x more beautiful and breathtaking irl!!!
Hey Taku, do you think you can make a playlist of chill songs that you picked for your videos? Love the vibes! 😄

I love to try too
Aye aye aye Taku Tuesdays! Let's get it!
Such a great idea, my gf would really love this! Love all your vids!!!
For pinks I ve always had great success with pink Kitimat or pink K wobbler lures but I change out the hook for a gamakatsu hook
This was by far the best original recipe you've come up with on this channel.
Dope vid and great idea.... love the fusion! It's satisfying to put an idea to work and make something great good job Taku
Love that you said tiny whisk like babish!
Eyeballer had me laughing way too loud. Amazing work, chef
Dude, you killed it with this one. So dope.

Love these Alaska series episodes!
Dude!!! I'm looking forward to the corndog shop! 😭 The concept! Man it's odd but it could be great! Please do us a solid 🥺 Much love 🙏🏽💕

That looked so good! I have another idea for you. In Hawaii they make an andadog, andagi battered hotdog. How about an andagi battered tako?
What a spin on the corn dog!

Ill be looking for these at next State Fair. Those look awesome
That dad joke about measuring and the babish joke though 😂
At the end, I was actually fiddling with my other phone and when you went, "oh no my beer!", I thought a commercial came on cause it was suddenly so loud 🤣🤣
Love the Babish tiny whisk reference!
The last berry you ate looked more like a huckleberry than a blue berry and huckleberry's are sour.
I agree looks like huckleberry
yep, wild blue berry bushes are not that high, blue berry bushes are normally 12 to 14 inches high
Taku go to a large fair, sell these and give the prodceeds to a charity? Would make a great episode and im sure fans from that area will support!
Glad to see my man Taku so happy.
if taku opened up a takoyaki corndog shop, for sure i will have to go try it out!!! it looks delicious and it is something new!!
wow que buenisima receta como es que ha nadie se le habia ocurrido_?!, excelente video, gracias por compartir , saludos desde Mexico!
