I love the fact that they actually did something with Lips and gave him a real character. They could've dropped him from the band entirely but they didn't. Instead they put in the work to make him more than just a background character and make him a bona fide member of the band.

The history behind The Muppets is pretty interesting and inspiring to me. Once a bunch of simple characters in small T.V show skits in the 1950's to massive popularity in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Now they are relevant again. :)

The heart in this show was insane. The only piece of Disney muppets I've fully loved. Made Dr Teeth my favourite muppet as well, Disney really hired some good writers and music staff on this one, and the puppeteering felt so genuine. Mainly she needs to go to therapy, but I think it’s mainly due to the fact that Lilly Singh is an actually really good actress in real problem with the show is honestly the love triangle they had. The Muppets Mayhem is proof The Patrick Star Show could work.
When it comes to spin-offs with quirky people, expand their story, not expand their quirks. Make them and their quirks integrate into the setting while expanding those characters, not the other way around.
Rather than making The Muppets Mayhem 100% jokes, we get to see about the members of the band themselves. And Lips there is proof that no character is too obscure/overshadowed to be expanded.

Yeah, all of the Electric Mayhem are really part of the major cast ever since The Muppet Show. People just discount them because they're among the big characters who got put on hiatus for almost 20 years after Henson and Hunt died (along with Scooter, Rowlf, and a handful of others).
That's a problem I've seen a lot online with people only being exposed to the Muppets through Christmas Carol, Tresure Island, and Muppets From Space. They're just seeing a skeleton crew from a weird era of the franchise when it was in a tailspin due to the deaths of 2/5 of their major puppeteers.

All to say I loved watching this series, Honest I had a blast! Binged it over like almost 3 times, One just to know regularly, 2nd time just for fun, and the 3rd just to see the gags, soft moments and even the easter eggs across the series.
All is the say for me this is really what a modern Muppet show should be like, it's been a long time since they were this good, even outside the 2015 series. All is to say I thought the human character were fine as they are, like Nora I would say she was despicable as first but it is understandable of her role and honestly I don't know how else they would've made the series without her or the other human cast. The only one I can say they can live without is Hannah, She was the only character who I think she is just hammy with her acting along with being the role of "The popular sister who care more about her social media status" or JJ being her 'Ex' trying to get back together was completely unnecessary. And if they are going to do that I would ask to take it slow with Moog if they are going for a second season.
Overall I still had a great time along side with the Awesome Soundtrack, amazing backstory of some mayhem cast members I would even hope they get to do backstories with Janice, Lips, and maybe even a little more with Floyd I think he need more after Teeth, still I so excited for more if they do a second season!

    • @fishdude2954
      @fishdude2954 Рік тому +2

Yeah this is a fantastic series. The 2015 series wasn't nearly as bad as people think (while the OOC stuff and cynicism were fixed after new writers came in halfway through, the show was judged too quickly based on the first 3 episodes) but Mayhem really got all the Muppet parts right from the start
Though that makes a lot of sense considering that Bill Barretta came up with the idea - it's always better when people who work within the franchise steer it, rather than just corporate ideas like "let's do The Office but with Muppets" or "let's advertise The Haunted Mansion but with Muppets"

Overall they did this really well. The newer fans ask "who asked for Dr. Teeth's backstory?" to which I reply "the fans who were sitting in front of their TV's in the 70's and 80's watching the Mayhem on the Muppet Show and other platforms." Some of us have known and loved the Muppets for longer than some of the naysayers have been alive. That is not a stab at the younger fans in general, just those who are missing the point of several things. One of the major blunders that Disney has made with the Muppets (other than Kermit's voice actor), is that most of the characters personalities are... off. They aren't Henson gags, they are Disney "jokes". This show captures the band perfectly. Animal has always been "going soft" as some complain, but the original Animal was too lady crazy and aggressive for today's audience, fer surrre. Teeth was based on Dr. John so it makes sense that his mama is a boisterous Louisiana Cajun queen. His dad cracked me up. Great show.

I love the new show, but one issue i had with it is that i feel like it did a lot of telling not showing. In fraggle rock, dave goelz has said that he and the other puppeteers told the writers not to have the characters say how they felt. The puppeteers would show how the character felt in their performance. This made fraggle rock seems very mature and realistic. Mayhem on the other hand feels like its talking down to it's audience and making things incredibly obvious. I still like the show, i just think that the writing could have been tighter when it came to more emotional scenes.

Love you, man, but look at 'in years'. Muppets Tonight, That Reality Show they tried, and so on... 'Best in years' is not a hard anthill to step over.

I wouldn't think it would need to be said at this point, but if you are not playing it completely straight like Michael Caine in Muppet Christmas Carol or out-Muppeting the Muppets like Tim Curry in Muppet Treasure Island (and only Tim Curry, ever) any human actor playing a human character is at best a net neutral and at worst going to drag the entire production down. And yes, that includes the special guests on The Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight.

As Kermit said it best, "when people go to see a *Muppet* movie (or show in this case), they say, 'Gee, I can't wait to see the *human*!'"
Otherwise, I really enjoyed this show. Not as perfect as Muppets Haunted Mansion, but still great!

My issue with Nora is not even that she is unlikeable, but that she is such a boring character that takes too much screen time.

I really wanted to like it, and the Muppets themselves are fantastic as always, but I didn't really like the human cast except for Tahj Mowry and that made it really hard to watch. Some actors can work really well with the Muppets, but I didn't get that with Lilly Singh.

Pretending that the show being on Disney+ makes it unworthy of hype...really?
This show was conceived by Bill Barretta himself (a lead Muppet performer) and helmed by big Muppet fans, rather than being a generic corporate product. It turned out great because of being made by people who actually know what they're doing, that's why there's so much excitement around it.

First of all, Statler and Waldorf are at the end of the series and second of all Kermit. The frog is actually shown as a doodle on eight days a week
