The real hope is that the Verteporfin will allow the wounds to heal in a way that recreates the structures necessary for producing new hairs. If that’s the case, FUE will be the way to go.
@@tomcotter4299Exactly. If you can just restore original donor area, oh boy, I'll travel to Turkey every year and look like a freaking Chewbacca in 10.
I'm so thrilled you did it. About a year ago in these comments I requested to please look into using verteporfin and you did it! What excited me about verteporfin long before Dr. Barghouthi's trial was not the mouse study, but the pig study that regrew hair. These pigs are genetically much closer to humans than mice. I've watched all your videos, as I live nearby, but after seeing this video I will ask you to do my transplant.
Hey there Dr. Bloxham! This is quite exciting! I'll be sure to stay tuned for what you and others in the field discover! Due to your beautiful work on me, I have very minimal scarring. I'd love to come back out sometime if you're ever looking for former patients to participate!
Amazing that you're on board with a whopping three patients. Personally, I'm mainly interested in the potential for hair regeneration, but it's fantastic that verteporfin is getting traction nonetheless. I completely agree with your final statement in the video; it's incredibly exciting to try out protocols on balding areas in the future. Some combination of wounding or excision of miniaturized hair follicles followed by verteporfin injection has got to be tested. Sure, there's a serious chance that it won't work, but any small chance at potentially discovering unlimited hair multiplication is so obviously worth giving a shot.
I'm wondering if injecting verteporfin into implant site would benefit hair growth and minimize shock loss? If verteporfin and YAP inhibitors are effective there is the possibility that FAK inhibitors will be even more powerful in the longterm.
I wish something would actually come that would erase skin scars I have like 3 scar's on my face that I would get rid of hopefully that happens someday.
keep an eye out on verteporfin. it has potential to result in scarless healing if injected after a scar excision. the more drs. that are willing to try it off-label, the easier it'll be to get the procedure done!@@templeray5754
This is amazing news. Unlimited donor area essentially means a cure! However would the medication work the same after you have harvested the same area say two or three times?
@@juanbonilla1006 I don’t think it’s common at all. But I’m not getting any more surgery until I know if verteporfin works… and if it doesn’t work, then only FUE from here on lol
Please keep the cardiac side effects in mind when considering this as a potential long term solution. Latanoprost for glaucoma can have similar, potentially cardiac arrest causing, sides.
True but you don't have to take it long term, that's what makes it so amazing compared to medications such as minoxidil and finasteride. You use it after a transplant and then your off.
Hi Dr. Bloxham, I have this very interesting observations for your research, I hope it can help you to get your results more quickly! 1) What would happen if you extract a follicle with multiple hairs (2, 3 or 4 )? Divide them with the scalp in a single hair and implanted in the donor area follow by the verteporfin dosage?, I wonder if the follicle will regrowth with the single hair ´or´ with the original hairs numbers, if you know where I’m going, if a multiple follicle can be restored, a 4 hair follicle can reproduce 3 new hairs at each follicle, having a total of 16 hairs out of single 4 hairs follicle. 2) What would happen after extract white hair out of the donor are? What would be the color in the donor area after the new hair had regrowth? this will be an excellent experiment after it's very hard to locate the donor areas without tattoos marks, find a person with black and white hair, so you can extract only black hairs in one area and only white hairs in the other area, and see the outcomes. 3) Why not to try to test other parts of the body? Like arms, legs. chest with less hair, that will make the trial more easy! More volunteers, shave the head of the volunteers wont be necessary, easier way to track the results as you may choose a recipient body are with no hair. 4) What would happen if? A verteporfin dosage is injected in the donor and the folicles are brined in verteporfin solution before are implanted. Would this reduce the follicle shock loss time period?
@Feller & Bloxham why can't verteporfin just be used directly on the bald scalp, rather than FUE or w/e? I mean, can't we just wound the scalp and regenerate the existing issue and get rid of the scar tissue?
Man imagine the positive impact this would have on FUT clinics. Scarless FUT procedure? TAKE MY MONEYYYY
Nobody cares about the scar. We only want more grafts and this doesnt regenerate the follicles.

@@tomcotter4299 Yeah I dont get it why people are excited about FUT if this can create new hair follicles. Makes no sense. FUE is the way.

Please keep us updated with this. This could be a game changer for those prone to scarring and need scar revisions!👍
Its scam. It didnt work check the news on Google. Zarev is the way to reduce the fue scars
I am hyped and terrified at the same time. Thanks Dr. Bloxham.
dont be the drug itself is fda approved already and been used with no issues
as a med student this stuff is fascinating!
You all know, if you SHARED THIS VIDEO this would make it to the market quicker, right?
More people here about it, more people want it.
Please post full surgery video
great video - informative in a useful and followable way - awesome to see you are helping to lead an innovative charge! thanks for sharing…
This is so cool. Any step forward in hair loss treatment is interesting to me, can't wait to see what comes out of this.
This is very exciting. Looking forward to your next videos!
I have a 10mm scar from an FUT procedure. I would love to see the results of this trial
