Couldn't agree more, a genius. Also incorporated so many instruments,, result giving good jobs for those band members. I admire that, not self centered.
It's interesting how that Beatles thing showed up in every generation, at least into the early 2000s. In the 90s, the Jellyfish were a great example, but sadly they were born into the wrong decade and never really got the recognition they deserved, being power pop in a land of grunge angst. I ran across song in a movie (A Lot Like Love) from 2003, which absolutely could have been a Beatles song: ua-cam.com/video/bpDNfwIrx1M/v-deo.html Not sure it still survives in broadly popular music anymore, though I'm sure there are endless folks out there doing it in obscurity.
Finally you’re hitting up the ELO catalog of music 🔥. Lex is an old soul, she just “gets it”. She is never at a loss to explain how the song makes her feel and she always has the perfect adjective to describe what she’s feeling.
You should watch George Harrison's induction, "While my Guitar Gently Weeps." Jeff Lynne is a part of the amazing Collab. Besides E.L.O., he was also part of the amazing Travelling Willburys
Is that big music shop still there, somewhere around Snowhill - on a corner - ? I went to the Midlands Electricity Board training centre there for four years in the 70's, 74 - 78 - That music shop was my favourite haunt because I imagined Jeff Lynne and all the other famous Brummies must shop there too ... (I hadn't been to London yet and never thought that's where all the stars migrate to) I went back 10 years ago and was LOST - Couldn;t recognise anywhere. Sorry for yakking on - ELO got me through my teenage years - I'm surprised there was any vinyl left after I'd played their records repeatedly - This track especially. VERY talented guy, Jeff Lynne.
I’m 51 & can not begin to even tell you how much I enjoy watching you guys watching & listening to a lot of the music that I grew up with! I get my popcorn out & watch you guys. I love hearing your “final takes” on the music and I just can’t help but chuckle, but in a good way, because it’s just too cute! I love when you stop a video or song and either comment on what you’ve just heard or commenting on something about the artists themselves especially when you’re looking for words to describe them- that’s when you guys really make me giggle! Keep up the great work and if you should need any help/input from an “older guy” who lived the music let me know- I’d be happy to lend a hand or another “dimension” into your insights. Thanks & keep up the great work!😊
Hi Paul. I am 54, You would be surprised at how many there are like us that enjoy watching these younger people enjoy the music we know so well, but they have never heard...it is oddly compelling to watch them, I watch nearly every night...for whatever reason, they are fun to watch...Merry Christmas Paul...GEN X RULES!!!
Ah, so well said! I'm 57 and so with you! My ELO journey started with "Confusion" but after the wall had come down I was finally able to discover their entire back catalogue, what a PLEASURE! Jeff Lynne's solo songs are so good as well.
More ELO - Mr Blue Sky, Rockaria, Turn To Stone, Showdown, Diary of Horace Wimp ..... lots of great songs. I think Mr Blue Sky is one you might recognise from film/TV etc
You can't go wrong with Jeff Lynne. My opinion: Mr. Blue Sky his greatest song.... His most underrated song... Tightrope. Try them out. You can't go wrong with Jeff and ELO.
It was Jungle for me, but everything they did was mind blowing when they were live in '78, then there was the laser show followed by UFO sightings the next day.
It’s like watching Yin and Yang, right brain and left brain. Brad is trying to rationalise it and understand it; Lex is just feeling it and enjoying it. I think you need to feel music first, then go on a journey of interpretation as you listen to it again and again. But maybe that’s just me. 🙂
My favorite reaction is Brad's bewildered facial expressions when Lex tries to discribe her musical synesthesia....so funny ! 😅 2 of my very favorite UA-cam reactionists here...so happy your both delving into the one and only ELO ! 😊
I saw them in 73 at Central Washington opening for Wishbone Ash. At the time it was all males with 2 playing Cello and 2 playing violin but one constant is Jeff L. leading , writing , playing guitar and singing.
ELO is just so easy to like. The orchestra, the harmonies, the catchy lyrics, mid-song change of tempo surprises. It's all good. Even the ridiculous Xanadu song.
I got to say when Lex first says her descriptions of songs, I am like what are you talking about, then she goes into why she describes it like that and I totally get it.
Alway's LOVED the BV's towards the end - the funky guitar - that piano figure - could never play it - and I love Bev Bevan's drums - I LOVE THE WHOLE THING ! The strings ... tHE LOT
Lex... I truly think that you should have pursued a career in writing music reviews. You don't even have to think about it. You're just so in tune with a song, that you immediately envision a great way to describe it. You're like a savant. It's super cool to watch you come up with this stuff.
ELO are a great band. I remember this song from when I was about 15 (I think) at school. I play the ELO Greatest Hits on car trips still. 😊 If ELO tour Sydney ever again, I’ll be there.
This is my fav ELO song ,I encourage y’all to,listen to all Of their songs but also the live version of Evil Woman you get to see all of the instruments playing it’s awesome.
We can sum up all Brad & Lex reactions as follows: Lex, "It sounds/feels like (some feeling), you know what I mean?". Brad, "No!" - Ha ha! Jeff Lynne has a fantastic musical output, he makes such well crafted pop/rock songs. I never got to see ELO when they were doing this period of music in the 1970s but I did see them live in 1981, they were brilliant.
You really should try 'Tightrope' by them. A true orchestrial / rock crossover shows Jeff Lynn's real talent. The explains him balancing his life on a tightrope and need of help and pleading for somebody to throw him down a line to help him out. This will mess your minds up 😉
*"TIGHTROPE"* should be your next ELO reaction! After that, *"MR. BLUE SKY"* .... and after that, *"LIVIN' THING"* .... and then after that, *"DO YA"* ! When you've reacted to those 4 songs (studio versions, not live), check back for more recommendations, because this brilliant band literally has dozens of reaction-worthy songs you will love!! Merry Christmas, and thanks for all you do! :)
I love watching your reaction videos, Brad you always look for the meaning of the songs and try to understand what the artist was trying to tell us. Lex, your reaction is true enjoyment of the song and music. Keep up the great work.
What I have always loved about ELO is their individual sound. When one of their songs came on the radio you knew it was ELO straight away. I love the songs like Mr Bluesky and Don't bring me down.
I had the pleasure of seeing ELO in 1981. Wow, that was 40 years ago. OMG!!!!!! Time flies, right!! One of my favorite bands from the 70's. So many classics to choose from... My favorite from them is "Can't get it out of my head"... Great reaction guys... Music definitely brings people together.... Happy Holidays Brad and Lex.....
This band most to be placed as The Beatles or Pink Floyd same musical status level. The lyrics, a some kind of story teller, good vibe. Seriously ELO deserves more recognition because their master musical pieces, most of all from the 70`s, like this one. Thanks for your listening.
When I just 13 my dad took me to an ELO concert and it was one of the greatest nights of my life! The lazer light show was so massive that people around the arena were calling the cops because they didn't understand what those lights were in the sky! I've always adored them and Jeff Lynne is just amazing!
I love how Lex describes how a song makes her feel!!!!!! What more can you ask from a great song? Makes you feel something. Love your channel and rusty is a perfect description! Next try strange magic by ELO.✌❤
I used to listen to this song all the time in high school in 78 and 79! Honestly it brings back so many memories. I think Brad would like Telephone line of this album. Its really different and its a song that played alot in 78 and 79. You both so awesome Thanks again for sharing your time with me! Love the Zeppelin shirt! I saw them in the Kingdom in Seattle in 78.
Legendary British rock band Incredible back catalogue Check out “ Rockaria” “ so fine” “ turn to stone” “ diary of horice wimp” “ can’t get it out of my head” 🎸😉🇬🇧
Brad, she [ Lex ] thinks in the abstract, and in a colorful world of thoughts, and beyond! Nicely done Lex! She feels like a true musician artist! Kind of like Claude Monet, while you can see the picture, you need to understand the colors with the impressionism of their bush stokes!
I'm a musician, and the way she reacts to the music suggests she has natural musical talent. She picks up on a lot of the subtleties despite not having musical training.
First time viewer, and I’ve binged on so many of your videos this weekend. You guys compliment each other so well. Lex is bubbly and loves the musicality and Brad is more reserved and listens for the meaning of a song. Very cool, and enjoyable to watch. I know that you likely have a long list yet to do…but taking into consideration what I just said…I have a song for you. Amazing music, and meaning. I see that you’ve listened to Abba before….but this a new song, from this year, by a band who haven’t recorded together in 40 years! They are in their 70s now, yet, you would never know it. They’ve had many ups and downs, all having been married and divorced to each other, and coming back together 40 years later. Amazing song. It’s called “I still have faith in you”. Make sure to watch the video too (vs lyric)… because it helps tell the story. You’ll appreciate it. Merry Christmas, Lex and Brad! All the best!
It exists in everyone’s family. Love your reactions guys, Lex’s breakdown are very good. She’s even taught me a few things after listening to songs for 40 years! And Brad bounces nicely. Great song too. Big ELO fan here.
Hi Brad and Lex. I’m an oId guy and I really enjoy you too very much and try to watch all your reviews. A lot of the groups you review are in my generation. Jeff Lynn, the prime guy behind ELO, is a musical genius. If you can , check out the “Traveling Wilburys”, this was a supergroup with Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison , George Harrison and Jeff Lynn , and Lynn really put the group together.
I see you're now into ELO... me too 😁 You definitely should check out this songs of them: "Calling America", "Confusion", "Hold on tight", "Livin Thing", "Twilight", "Shine a little love", "The Way Life's Meant To Be" and many others. They are also the composers of Olivia Newten John's "Xanado". An absolute fantastic song you should also check out.
Olivia NJ's Xanadu is not. The hit single was by Olivia Newton John AND ELO. There's also an officially released version with Jeff Lynne on lead vocals.
I remember being, like 13 or 14, I'd sneak out behind the shed after mom and dad went to bed and smoke me one, then go back in put the head phones on and let this album do it's thing... Back in the day when bands made album's, albums that rocked start to finish
Written + produced by Jeff Lynne. 🇬🇧 He is the only member left in ELO. RIP to the fallen members. The Grammys performance had Taylor Swift + others dance throughout the performance! 💃 Sir Paul McCartney got up and swayed! 😃 Jeff Lynne is also a writer and producer for the late Tom Petty, late George Harrison. Suggested video 📹: Tom Petty. I Won't Back Down. Written + produced by Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and Jeff Lynne. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
There's a great live performance here, Jeff Lynne's ELO at Wembley Stadium in 2017. ua-cam.com/video/j7cyiWpX_HU/v-deo.html 80,000 middle-aged people reliving their childhood! But the band is perfect and Jeff ageless.
@@PaulOutdoors I was due to see them last year at the O2, then lockdown struck. No news on any new tour. So sad to have missed them, can't get it out of my head.
I find it hilarious that almost every video ends with either one of them saying "I don't know" or "Do you know what I mean?" and then right into the song that starts with "I don't know"
Lex is the happiest, grooviest, coolest “cat” in Reaction World. Brad is the master of not getting into the music and of the sharp crack as critique. As for ELO and “Evil Woman,” it stands up so well after what, 50 years? Lynn is a genius x 2 or 3. Brilliant music-maker.
I want both of you to know how much I appreciate watching your reactions to music you did not grow up with. I have watched many of these done buy others but the two of you compliment each other like none other. Brad, very direct. I like, I don't understand, I don't like. Very raw. Brad is definitely broadening his horizons. Lex, very insightful, always a unique way of describing the music and time frame.
Talking about an Evil Woman, there's an old 1949 classic movie from the film noir genre entitled, Too Late for Tears. It stars Lizabeth Scott. Check it out. She's definitely one very greedy and murderous evil woman!
Jeff Lynn is genius at combining rock and orchestral arrangements into catchy hooks. A true Beatle at heart. 🤘❤🇨🇦
Couldn't agree more, a genius. Also incorporated so many instruments,, result giving good jobs for those band members. I admire that, not self centered.

why use more when 4 words were enough in that sentence?
Yah they can sound like the Beatles when listening to this band... this is sooo good tho.... is better than the Beatles??? 😆
It was George Martin did the arrangements, not the Beatles.
Finally you’re hitting up the ELO catalog of music 🔥. Lex is an old soul, she just “gets it”. She is never at a loss to explain how the song makes her feel and she always has the perfect adjective to describe what she’s feeling.
She does "get it." Love her reactions.
Brad.. directed/ driven by words..
Lex.. moved by the music/ sound 😉😁👍
She is a soul for tunes for sure
And it's almost always the case of I don't understand her explanation, but I also don't disagree
Lex is a Gem . Definitely an Old Soul . Would have fit right into the 60s & 70s ..
This reminds me of my older sister who is no longer with us she used to dance around singing this all the time. 🙂❤
You should watch George Harrison's induction, "While my Guitar Gently Weeps." Jeff Lynne is a part of the amazing Collab. Besides E.L.O., he was also part of the amazing Travelling Willburys
I love Brad's perplexed reactions to Lex's abstract interpretations! (Love those abstract interpretations, too!)
They’re from my hometown, Birmingham in the U.K. brilliant band in their day

You can't go wrong with Jeff Lynne. My opinion: Mr. Blue Sky his greatest song.... His most underrated song... Tightrope. Try them out. You can't go wrong with Jeff and ELO.
Exactly!

Mr Blue Sky! 🇨🇦❤️
Lex, you've hit the nail on the head with that one word! "Rusty" it is!
Absolutely bangin' tune from ELO..!!!
One of England's best bands!!
Nothing better than watching a reaction to one of my favorite bands by one of my favorite couples to watch.
I just have always loved this song 🥰💃🔥🌹💞🔥💃..
"Last train to London" Great ELO song... Maybe I'm biased because I'm from London.... Reminds me of being young again!!

Brad you don't understand what it's like to be with an Evil woman. Trust me I know what its like. Lex is an 😇 Angel. She's a Keeper 🤣😜🐊🌞🌴😎
Love the genius of the orchestra. These two are entertaining. Esp. Lex. She feels every note and loves the heavy sounds of classic rock.
This is my favorite band for orchestrated music. Such a rich, full sound. It never gets old.

The Night Owls, Lonesome Loser and Man on your Mind.

I always thought that "Electric Light Orchestra" was one of the coolest band names imaginable. Whoever came up with that one had a very good day.
Same for OMD Orchestral Movements ín the Dark. Wonder what's that in reference to.

80,000 middle-aged people reliving their childhood! But the band is perfect and Jeff ageless.
Agree 100% Mark 😊
@@PaulOutdoors I was due to see them last year at the O2, then lockdown struck. No news on any new tour. So sad to have missed them, can't get it out of my head.
@@markharris1125 Same here Mark 😊
Most authentic reaction channel by far.
Daft Punk sampled this song for their song "Face To Face", the riff which repeats in choruses after "evil woman".
I love how Lex describes songs I have heard a 100 times in ways I have never thought of before and be so dead on. Rusty!!
I find it hilarious that almost every video ends with either one of them saying "I don't know" or "Do you know what I mean?" and then right into the song that starts with "I don't know"
Classic are ELO 😎👍
Many, many more great songs to react to. ☮️💖
ELO AT WEMBLEY TELEPHONE LINE IS A MUST
Lex is the happiest, grooviest, coolest “cat” in Reaction World. Brad is the master of not getting into the music and of the sharp crack as critique. As for ELO and “Evil Woman,” it stands up so well after what, 50 years? Lynn is a genius x 2 or 3. Brilliant music-maker.
…I’d forgotten how good ELO are… and I love your reactions…
I want both of you to know how much I appreciate watching your reactions to music you did not grow up with. I have watched many of these done buy others but the two of you compliment each other like none other. Brad, very direct. I like, I don't understand, I don't like. Very raw. Brad is definitely broadening his horizons. Lex, very insightful, always a unique way of describing the music and time frame.
This was the first song I heard from them back in the day. Brad and Lex 🤟
Oh hell yeah! Great song! Love the reaction!
Love love LIVING THING even better, and CAN'T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD among others
Talking about an Evil Woman, there's an old 1949 classic movie from the film noir genre entitled, Too Late for Tears. It stars Lizabeth Scott. Check it out. She's definitely one very greedy and murderous evil woman!
I believe John Lennon said after hearing ELO that it was like hearing the Beatles if the Beatles had continued.
