How can people dislike this. Wow should count as the record. How the hell do we know they even had good scales back in george perrys day. They just will not let that record get beat
+Mike Iaconelli Bass Fishing Dottie was bigger. It's actually an interesting story, a guy caught her when she was just shy of the record and continued to hunt her for years afterward, fishing every single day for the entire spawning season. He finally found her and caught her, and she weighed in at 25.1lb. Unfortunately he had foul hooked her so the record didn't count. There's a very interesting documentary on it.
They can't release a largemouth in Japan. It's an invasive species and has to be kept out of their waters, like snakeheads are an invasive species in American waters. This one happened to be a world record fish.
I would of released it! Who cares if someone else catches the same fish one day and breaks the record once again. Fish like that deserves to live and fight another day.
+Bradford Fields while i agree with you... Theres was a larger bass caught at dixon lake out here in CA. The record didnt count because it wasnt hooked all the way in the mouth. The bass was released but was found dead a short while after.
if she had much fight left in her but did you see the video of doddy the 25.1 pound bass ? she died after spawning and being that size. I'd rather keep her and mount her as a trophy that way she'll live forever .
+Eusebio Preston U mean Dotty? An yes she died after spawning one last time but she lived for more years after being caught the last time so no telling how long this fish had to live, more than likely a few years or more.... that's alot of eggs. .
the guy should do what he wants, as a bass fisherman releasing tis fish would have to happen within minutes of catching it. She is big and stressed , most likely would have bellied up. As far as all the name calling . You all should be ashamed. Fishing is a universal language. I take my hat off to this guy and anyone else of different color who likes to fish. The Japanese have always loved to fish for bass. We should except competition and catch one bigger.
Well bass destroy the native habitat in that lake so its not about fishing its about what actually matters. Unless theyre completely harmless to everything in which case dont listen to me idk
For those saying release it, it's illegal. Large mouth caught in Lake Biwa must be kept as they're invasive. Even if the guy at Lake Dixon hadn't foul hooked old Dottie, I don't know. Dixon is a tiny lake, and fishing there can be an absolute zoo. It's tiny enough that Dottie was caught three times. Lake Biwa, unfortunately I didn't get to fish it as I was on a short vacation in Japan, is even bigger than Tahoe. It's giant. Dottie was caught on perseverence, but the bass in Lake Biwa took some serious knowledge, skill, and a dose of luck.
I saw Dottie about every week as a kid hiking up the mountain from our house and fishing Dixon. It was always that toad by the dock that would not bite anything. So weird how that ended up being a record fish. Dixon is such an unimpressive lake by the looks of it so you'd never know how many toads it has.
It is illegal to release bass in the lake where this fish was caught. I've been there a couple of times but there are trash cans with water in it to throw away the bass that has been fished. It's sad but in bass eats the native species of Japan so the government is trying to reduce the number of bass.
THIS IS IN JAPAN! Where bass are invasive! You wouldn't want people to be releasing asian carp or snake heads if they caught them in the US, it's against the law to release an invasive species in many places.
How can Largemouth bass be an invasive species. They might be a foreign fish in Japan but they don't have the ability to reproduce like Asian Carp or Tilapia. I recently have encountered Tilapia here in Jacksonville, Florida in some retention ponds. Those things reproduce by the hundreds if not thousands. I made a simple trap and caught at least 200 small tilapia. I moved them to another retention pond down the road to a pond which never really produced much in the way of fish, just small bream. I hope the tilapia thrive in that canal pond because it's pretty useless for the other fish. The pond has no bass, just a couple of catfish, and some warmouth perch. Anyway, I can't see Largemouth Bass as being much of an invasive species. They just don't have that ability to breed like that and they are too easy to catch. Just get any plastic worm with a curly tail, or a top water plug and you can easily catch all or most of the bass out of a pond or lake. Try getting rid of Asian Carp or Tilapia or Snakeheads. Bass are very vulnerable to fishing pressure and they are prized by fisherman.
jaxflfreebird Not only do you not understand anything about invasive species, but you straight up admitted to contributing to a local problem here in Florida. Thank you for releasing an invasive species into a new waterway you fucking dumbass.
UARAF16 Yeah, I moved over 200 Tilapia down to a retention pond down the road. The pond is locked and there is no chance of the fish spreading, unless someone else does what I did and puts them into a real waterway, such as a freshwater river or lake.
@QWE2k7 You are so right about that. Any large mouth bass that beats the record is from Florida strain fish that was stocked there. thats whay any fish that breaks the record out side of the tri stste area (Fla,Ala.Ga.) should have an asterisk by it. Perry caught his in its native enviroment.
Hunted Bass Silos I saw a largemouth bass in an old filled in rock quarry next to the Potomac river i know went way over 30lbs, the size of it actually scared me. The rock quarry is over 70 to 80ft deep. That was in the 1970's.
This tied with the world record. It was 22lbs 4oz, which is the same as the older record. It actually beat the world record by 0.03kg or .066lbs, but the igfa rules state that the original record's weight must by beat by 2oz to replace it. This was to MrSpeakerguy44.

Nice fish but largemouth bass are NOT native to Japan, they were released into Japan from California in 1925. They have been eating all other species of fish which is why they are getting so big. George Perry still holds the official record in the US
Im not against eating your catch, I do it quite often, but something about seeing that monster barely breathing and being handled like that bothered me, not sure why but it just seems wrong

Had about a 12 lb bass break me off in some weeds one time.. I swam for it but it was gone.. caught about an 8lb one a little later.. the next summer that pond dried up.. we knew it was gonna be low and it was our first time going out there that year.. was about a quarter mile walk from the road and when we rounded some cedar trees we could see it only had about 8 inches of water left in the middle and there were about 5 big hogs in the middle eating th fish and I lost it we had just lost the best bass, crappie, GIANT PERCH, and big channel cat pond you could ever hope to fish and we were the only ones who fished it.. I always brought my ruger .44 carbine with us since you never know what you could run into and I knew there were hogs around there.. @goodkush7 I've had a fish close to Florida state record. In my house we've got one mounted that was a 16lber,and the one I caight was 17lbs (4 ounces off record...) biggest bass I've ever seen yet alone landed.
If I caught a world record Bass, I’d keep it too and mount that thing. You can’t just release and let it grow for someone else to catch and take the title lol
All-Star Baseball.fishing I’m glad you see this cause the reports are saying it weighs 22.5 ! I’m scratching my head on this one !! It’s also saying it’s the new record bass !! Wtf 10.12 in pounds is 22.3 like your saying hmmmmm, what are we missing here !
This is a Florida strain bass. Because of their potential size they have been stocked all over the world. But there seems to be a window where a record is possible, and the window closes. Typically it coincides with also stocking a ready food source like trout or carp. I think the record days in Japan and California may be over, but who knows.
Pretty sure the reason it got big is because there was a kill if caught rule that was producing some very large bass because more food less competition
I have realeased four 10 + lb fish in my life but this one would be on the wall! Can't stand all this cry baby shit when someone keeps a goddamn fish these days! You can do whatever you want to do with YOUR fish but leave MY fish out of your crying.
I need to chime in..blah blah blah catch release...blah blah blah...trophy...blah blah blah,,,invasive species...blah blah blah...pokemon....blah blah blah sushi...blah blah blah...pac man...Hirohito....I think I made my point~
except the type of fish I seen you explain is not the same as our large mouth bass our largemouth have no red meat carp have red meat and dark red meat but not our bass I simply make a batter using like wheat flour some corn flour spices like salt pepper but to bring it all together I use a Molson Canadian beer instead of water then deep fry it might work for your fish too but it sounds to me like it a different meat altogether
Largemouths are invasive species there. They are in the process of trying to eradicate largemouth bass from Lake Inawashiro where this fish was caught. It is actually not legal to release a bass there. Sucks to kill a trophy but in that case it is the right thing to do.
@baka2004 Wow, you actually got "hippie" from someone taking notice in killing fish for a simple record? Ever heard of something that's called, Catch & Release? It's where you photograph, measure and weigh the fish securely before you release the fish back. That way you got proof of your catch, plus witnesses of course if you're fishing close to shore or with some friends. I saw baka2004 saying it's not allowed to release them, but Americans kill bass aswell for a PB or just to show it off.
I don't drink alcohol at all anymore and when I did I never drank beer so to be honest I have no idea what you mean by lodger or lager perhaps you can just google molson Canadian beer and get that answer. I sometimes buy a premade batter that you just have to add beer to maybe you can find that in your area too but the flour isn't the important part its the beer the beer adds a flavor that is amazing and I don't like fish any other way.
I would let it go a fish that big would be a shame to die I fish for tarpon and everyone let's thos go same thing with largemouth bass almost everyone let's them go they are a game fish take pictures of the fish as quick as you can and release it if you catch a striped bass if it's a keeper then keep it
ohh im sorry, just researched the deps flip version. that rod is $750 bucks, the reel is around $800....this guys boat is probably come crazy ass euro amount also (you can see his tricked out yellow bass boat in the background, he was just using the flats boat for a bigger live-well)
@jdoggy39 You say bullshit! Catch'n release is done as much in japan than in USA! And for people hoping for a release, even if Mr Kurita wouldhave wanted to, the thing is that to valid an IFGA record, fish is kept to be examined...
If you catch the world record bass you kill it, one you need to kill it to be a record, two you don't want anyone else catching it to beat your record, and three it's your fish you deserve Ito keep it.
***** are really this stupid. This fish was caught in Japan. It is illegal to release them alive there. Dead or alive has nothing to do with a fish being or not being a world record. It is a world record by meeting the qualifications of the organization that recognizes world records.
Take a clue, theyre not speaking english......what might that make you come to the conclusion of? OH AND THE "KG" SYMBOL BY THE WEIGHT??? 10.12 KILOS (a little over 22 lbs 4 oz) think, then post.
At aircombat231 this is boy frickan world pease or something like that if you catch a fish like that you keep it not I caught the worlds biggest fish I'm going to let it go it's I'm going to keep it
Not all asians kill fish trust me,i have caught many fish huge as my leg and i was tempted to keep em' but i let them go to spawn more. Thts juat stereotypic. Btw the person in the vid was japanese.
bullshit you caught anything that big in mass.. on what and where? i been fishing mass forever. 5 , 6, 7, even 8. maybe a lifetime ten pounder, but we dont hold fish like that
@1234bowtech are you 12 years old? man the comments on here are funny to read thru. So many people that know everything there is to know about everything!
True that they do eat a lot of fishes. However False, They release plenty of game fish. Even bass(even though bass are considered invasive fish in japan). Japan is a very game and competitive country, which explains why some the best fishing tackle and gear are from Japan.
For everybody angry that he didn't let it go let's be real for a second. In Japan that is an invasive species, look how we treat snake heads and Asian carp. This fish was also very old and going to die soon and had no good spawning years left.
Perry kept his fish. To all the geniuses, he kept the fish because it is Illegal to release bass back into the water in japan. Bass and bluegill are an invasive species there.
People get butt hurt about keeping big bass to mount. I have spoken to several biologist and all agree that 3 to 6 lb females will produce more consistently that 10 plus pound fish

I hate when people catch big bass and then get them mounted . Release them and let them keep spawning
Moon Howler well if you have a passion for bass fishing and that is a world record, you're going to have to mount it up
And mount for great memories. To show your kids and grand kids. Be smart haha
Everybody has different opinions and they can do whatever they want. PERIOD.
He couldn't put it back
Albert Rdz Right on. Very well said.
The thing is 22.3 pounds the road record is 22.4 from George Perry
All-Star Baseball.fishing I’m glad you see this cause the reports are saying it weighs 22.5 ! I’m scratching my head on this one !! It’s also saying it’s the new record bass !! Wtf 10.12 in pounds is 22.3 like your saying hmmmmm, what are we missing here !
Why this dude look like the Sega Bass fishing guy?
This is a Florida strain bass. Because of their potential size they have been stocked all over the world. But there seems to be a window where a record is possible, and the window closes. Typically it coincides with also stocking a ready food source like trout or carp. I think the record days in Japan and California may be over, but who knows.
Pretty sure the reason it got big is because there was a kill if caught rule that was producing some very large bass because more food less competition
Was it 2 & a half feet long or something ? . I didn't get it .
I would recommend using correct grammar before calling someone an idiot.
Thats almost a nileperch
That's ridiculous. The only thing worse than a troll is an ignorant troll.
I have realeased four 10 + lb fish in my life but this one would be on the wall! Can't stand all this cry baby shit when someone keeps a goddamn fish these days! You can do whatever you want to do with YOUR fish but leave MY fish out of your crying.
I need to chime in..blah blah blah catch release...blah blah blah...trophy...blah blah blah,,,invasive species...blah blah blah...pokemon....blah blah blah sushi...blah blah blah...pac man...Hirohito....I think I made my point~
what a fantastic huge bass ! very beautiful fish ! it's amazing
wich sidewinder flippin edition it is ?
Is the lateral line hard to distinguish on a bass that big? What's the possibilty of it being a hybred? Thanks for any civilized response.
Yeah, it's a little tough to see on this girl! As far as hybrid, no it's a largemouth bass, florida strain I believe.
Bigger than catfish I’ve caught 😂😂I’d kill to hook a bass anywhere near this size
At 10.12 kg, that equal 22.264. Does that beat Perry’s record?
except the type of fish I seen you explain is not the same as our large mouth bass our largemouth have no red meat carp have red meat and dark red meat but not our bass I simply make a batter using like wheat flour some corn flour spices like salt pepper but to bring it all together I use a Molson Canadian beer instead of water then deep fry it might work for your fish too but it sounds to me like it a different meat altogether
Ridiculously HUGE largemouth!
fish was gonna die anyways lets be real..
Correct, very old
Old? Absolutely. Going to die? Definitely, but hopefully not before laying that belly full of eggs.
Yeah in fuckin 6 years after they catch it
Disorganized goober fuck
Live bait was used to catch this .... my opinion it doesn’t count . The 1923 record was caught on a wooden lure.
I would let it go a fish that big would be a shame to die I fish for tarpon and everyone let's thos go same thing with largemouth bass almost everyone let's them go they are a game fish take pictures of the fish as quick as you can and release it if you catch a striped bass if it's a keeper then keep it
ohh im sorry, just researched the deps flip version. that rod is $750 bucks, the reel is around $800....this guys boat is probably come crazy ass euro amount also (you can see his tricked out yellow bass boat in the background, he was just using the flats boat for a bigger live-well)
@jdoggy39
You say bullshit!
Catch'n release is done as much in japan than in USA!
And for people hoping for a release,
even if Mr Kurita wouldhave wanted to,
the thing is that to valid an IFGA record, fish is kept to be examined...
If you catch the world record bass you kill it, one you need to kill it to be a record, two you don't want anyone else catching it to beat your record, and three it's your fish you deserve Ito keep it.
Are you for real? You do not need to kill it to be a record. Please post that rule. Thought so. In Japan it is illegal to release a black bass alive.
Paul Chapin I agree with him. If someone catches it a month later it can possibly break his record (which isn't a record unless you kill it)
***** are really this stupid. This fish was caught in Japan. It is illegal to release them alive there. Dead or alive has nothing to do with a fish being or not being a world record. It is a world record by meeting the qualifications of the organization that recognizes world records.
***** dud you are too stupid to be here go home.
Amazing that your pee brain is still awake.
@TheColtsfan19 Nobody in his right mind would eat them live!
@volcom8716 LOL, how do I metric system? The world doesn't revolve around the USA anymore....Military power cannot make up for a failing economy.
This is the coolest bass catch in my opinion actually looks like it should be 22 pounds dottie looked unnatural in a bad way
@bassmaster716
10.12 kg = 22.31 lb
Ofcourse he caught it. He went Super Saiyan.
Shouldn't count if he caught it on live bait. That's a disgrace. And if he threw it back it would have probably died of shock
@robfurtado thats not true u can break the world record without killing a fish you need proof pictures and wittnesses
thats not a world record iit cant even be close a guy cought a 40lb one at te lake near my house that only set lake record
True that they do eat a lot of fishes. However False, They release plenty of game fish. Even bass(even though bass are considered invasive fish in japan). Japan is a very game and competitive country, which explains why some the best fishing tackle and gear are from Japan.
Maybe half the lakes you fish from. Are you old enough to vote?
Did he catch that with an antares?
Roses are red,Voilet are blue,Theres many hate comment to the guy,So the fish
@mw2beastin100 there was a 25 lber caught but did not count because it was hooked on the side of the face
it sucks that the fish is dead the yellow ring around the eye means its been out of the water too long
For everybody angry that he didn't let it go let's be real for a second.
That is an abnormally large bass
Absolute beast
what if he were to drop it off the dock in the net??!!
People get butt hurt about keeping big bass to mount. I have spoken to several biologist and all agree that 3 to 6 lb females will produce more consistently that 10 plus pound fish
i could never kill a fish like that to pretty. throw her back so she can get bigger /:
@muskie1976 YOU NOE WAT ...UR RIGHT!....I GIVE EVERYBODY WHO CATCHES BIG BASS PROPS...
Apparently it didnt tie shit. Theres no listing of this fish on the record books
Beautiful fish! Love this video Everytime I see it!
Man that’s 1 big girl there. Must have been fun reeling that 1 in.
