I was present at the final weigh-in at the 1971 Bassmaster tournament on the St. Johns River and Rodman Pool.(I think it was Bassmaster's second year.) I saw a fellow weigh in a bass that went 12 lbs. 13 oz. It was the largest bass weighed in for several decades of Bassmaster. Don't know if it still is. The limit back then was 10 fish, and the guy who won the tournament weighed in a 10 bass limit the last day that went 60 lbs. 6 oz., and he told us after the tournament that he caught those ten in a spot about as big as his boat.
"In a spot about as big as his boat" sounds like he pre-caught them, put them in his boat and then acted like he was catching fish until the tournament was over then turned in the pre caught fish

But seven , eights and low nines all can look huge or surprise you that they weigh as much as they do... Point is bring a scale ,cause one day if your lucky you will catch an 11 plus pounder and will want to know the true weight. And not always wonder like me. I stopped cause I could tell on anything into high 8's... One day long after carrying around a scale I caught a monster shore fishing with minnows. Everybody said it was huge 14 plus... I guess it was high 11's maybe 12 but I don't know and had never seen one so big or have sense then. It was huge but I'll never know how huge. It was about 12" from the back to bottom of belly. Randy blaukat and ito designed that bait in the early/mid 90s. Randy sent the smithwick rogue and another jerkbait over there and pointed out different things about them that made them great and they tinkered from there.
