The beginning RPG, made me remember something funny from Iraq. during OIF 1, across the river from the palace in Mosul, there was a dirt road next to the river. Enemy would do 'drive-by' RPGing and Mortaring. It still cracks me up to think about the sight of someone standing in the back of a pickup trying to shoot a RPG while bouncing around.
It makes sense. It seems almost like racing a car, jumping out of an airplane, wheeling a motorcycle, etc. The adrenaline rush is probably intoxicating despite the obvious danger. I think it’s a primal instinct
As a former Infantry Marine that spent 17 1/2 months in Viet Nam at least the Viet Cong & the North Vietnamese Army fought us face to face basically. We would walk into one of there ambush's and they weren't 20 feet away. Other times they had us out numbered and surrounded. Then there was the Jungle, Leaches, bugs, Misquotes, snakes, spiders, and ants and you couldn't see 10 yards in front of you. Plus we were carrying that heavy M-14, and in the jungle it's not a good battle rifle .You want to get your adrenaline pumping? Try fighting the fight we fought in the Jungle! I came home with two purple hearts! Welcome Home Brothers!!! Take Care & Stay Safe
I was in the gun fight @ 8:59. I spent most of my career with the Infantry. I have spent 54 months total in combat (Kosovo Iraq and Afghanistan) after all of the violence and death I have witnessed I still wish I could have fought with your generation in Vietnam and those that came before us and those that will come after us. The brotherhood of combat spans generations. I was never a Devil dog but I would fight my way into hell with you any day.

This was my brigade the 1st combat brigade of the 101st airborne. I was with these guys this deployment but not on this OP different platoon. That's what I was a fister. 13 foxtrot fire support specialist or aka forward observer. We called in arty rounds or cas(close air support). They call us Fisters because our mos logo is a fist holding a lightning bolt so that's where the term fister came from
As a 20 year Fister working as the BDE FSNCO, our DS in AIT always said it was because the FST (Fire Support Team) was called “Fist” as it was easier. And as it grew, the FO’s would say “I’m a Fister” and it’s grown as such. Yes our gauntlet is a fist holding a lightning bolt but I believe that emblem was derived after the slang term.
Took my ex to a function with dudes I served with in the Navy and the first question she asked, "Why do they call you 'Wheels'?" Explained because I was in Navigation and our logo is a ship's wheel. Sometimes when I get around other vets and start using lingo I forget that civvies only get about 20-30% of what we're saying XD
@@mattg188 just be squared away. AIT for 13F is kinda a joke just remember you wont really learn your MOS until you get to your unit so dont be discouraged if you are a little confused by AIT. at least thats how it was for me in 13 F AIT in 2009

My grandpa never spoke of combat, when I finally asked I thought he was gonna trip out!! I asked respectfully if he would mind telling me any war stories. He said, and I quote, "I met some amazing people, got to see the world" "it was an experience" that was it! He was a Vietnam combat vet! some people do talk about it others just don't!!! my grandpa was one that just wouldn't! My dad however told me of a time a helicopter flew overhead while my grandpa was falling a tree. My grandpa dropped his saw and fell out of the tree bout 10'...when my dad reached him he was in the featle position absolutely shook, not blinking, not moving, nothing..... He used to pop his teeth out and make funny faces at us kids. He was an absolutely amazing grandpa!
that last video he's a Team leader, in the beginning when he was trying to get them on the radio to move he mentions his call sign as "2A". so either a SGT or SPC
The 240 gunner that had the misfire when yall said "what was that?" Was prolly a cooked off hangfire from that long burst he did right before it. M240s are notorious for cooking off rounds if you fire for too long.
@@borkwoof696 Indeed they are. Which just means the bolt in locked to the rear in condition 1 unlike most firearms. If the bolt sends a round forward and you have a misfire for some reason (usually cheap rounds) then the round will sit in the barrel, Or receiver assembly, and can cook off if its hot. Thats why you treat every misfire as a hangfire and wait before ejecting it. Last thing you want is to eject a round and have it grenade on you.
Yea... He said " our dog was shot on this mission Nd 2 of our guys took shots to their helmets" and dude is laughing whole time. I thought that was quite disrespectful.

@@sladepruitt564 A claymore is essentially a one-way explosive device, that will blow up if you walk in front of it. Put into context, if someone in a real firefight brings out a claymore to set up, that means they are expecting to be overrun by enemies in very close proximity. Typically a device such as a claymore is used as a last resort, in situations where you consider your position fully compromised, and you need a form of plan B defense in a location that you yourself are unable to defend. In video games claymores are used very casually because the nature of most shooting games naturally put you versus an enemy team in a close proximity arena/map, where enemies are expected to come at you from all potential directions, so close encounters are a given in every match. Hope that explains it :)
@@Real_MisterSir Claymores however are almost always detonated manually with a trigger (M57 Firing Mechanism) connected by cord to the claymore itself, it's not like they go off on their own. It's very effective in its blast cone out to 50m (though some fragments will go well beyond that).

My man said this was good times . That right there let me kno there’s definitely different levels of humans lol
exactly I was thinking the same thing
Exactly like The Joker said, every memory of something intense will eventually by the time goes, span into the memory of a good time.
It makes sense. It seems almost like racing a car, jumping out of an airplane, wheeling a motorcycle, etc. The adrenaline rush is probably intoxicating despite the obvious danger. I think it’s a primal instinct
Sometimes the shit moments are the best moments
@@AQS521 Exactly, its the rush and action that is exciting.
Thank you guys for your service!! God Bless
Yesterday was my first day of AIT to become a fister
Took my ex to a function with dudes I served with in the Navy and the first question she asked, "Why do they call you 'Wheels'?" Explained because I was in Navigation and our logo is a ship's wheel. Sometimes when I get around other vets and start using lingo I forget that civvies only get about 20-30% of what we're saying XD
@@mattg188 just be squared away. AIT for 13F is kinda a joke just remember you wont really learn your MOS until you get to your unit so dont be discouraged if you are a little confused by AIT. at least thats how it was for me in 13 F AIT in 2009

So beyond solid that you linked up with this guy. Awesome guy, bad ass dude, exceptional sniper & professional.
The 240 gunner that had the misfire when yall said "what was that?" Was prolly a cooked off hangfire from that long burst he did right before it. M240s are notorious for cooking off rounds if you fire for too long.
Aren’t they open bolt guns?
@@borkwoof696 Indeed they are. Which just means the bolt in locked to the rear in condition 1 unlike most firearms. If the bolt sends a round forward and you have a misfire for some reason (usually cheap rounds) then the round will sit in the barrel, Or receiver assembly, and can cook off if its hot. Thats why you treat every misfire as a hangfire and wait before ejecting it. Last thing you want is to eject a round and have it grenade on you.

Me placing a claymore in cod: “easy hope someone walks into it”
Placing a claymore in real life:”duuuuude no way he popped claymore dude wtf.
You know if someone considers bringing out the claymores, shit's about to go down
@@Real_MisterSir can someone explain why? I have very little military knowledge and I'm strangely curious.
