Came to know Emma through Britains Darkest Taboos. And even though I love the show, I think it’s a disservice to both her character and her expertise. Watching her UA-cam channel really allows her personality and expertise to come across in a way that TV doesn’t allow. She communicates so clearly how we as the general public feel about these horrendous offenders and also showcases her understanding of the psyches of the offenders. So glad you’ve got a UA-cam Emma, you really showcase your expertise and also your emotions and empathy here in a way that isn’t always showcased on the TV shows you do. Sending you love from Birmingham UK

I totally agree I think both wer sexualy abusing her her, both there sentences wer a joke, I have a very good friend who this case reminds me of,long story short her children wee taken 4 emotional neglecte she adored them and eny1 who new her new she did her best but sadly struggled with confidence, anxiety, mental health, she was often took advantage of by people in different ways, she felt like she wanted 2 die her kids wer her life she did everything wat was asked off but constantly set up 2 fel and obstacles constantly put in her way nothing of her well doing was notice and 2 years later she slowly started 2 give up she felt that all she had was took and she was never going 2 get back, she started using drugs and decided to fund it she was going 2 start prostitution the very first time she did it the man she went with had took her to his home which turned out to b s man cave in a big shed sort of thing in his back garden, as chatting to him he's told her how him and his wife wer not actually together and have lived separately for 8 years,he said he was a good man as he lives in his madeup house and let's her have the house as they have loads of children and cos of ther jobs it ment they could not get divorced ,she needed the toilet he said his was blocked and took her into the house to use that 1 while she was going up the stairs she was looking at all the happy family pictures on the wall ,and then started screaming 2 her horror the pictures wer of her children, turns out he was a Foster father and this is wer her children had been 4 the last 2 years, the eife was away with the children while he was talking drugs and engaging in prostitution, and as far as the system new these wer still together and claiming the money 4 Foster children as if still together, she reported it nothing came of it and if that was not bad enuff later down the line it comes out this scumbag pig also sexual abused her 2 daughter's 😢, she fought 4 her kids 4 over 6 yrs ,she only ended up seeing her kids again and having a relationship again was wen they wer old enuff and came 2 find her,all of them remembered her and how she was a good mum doing her best she just need a bit of support, they wer took for emotional abuse and ended up being physically and sexualy abused by those ment to b making a difference with the eell being and care of vonrable children and paid 2 do also and end doing far more worse and shockingly he had previous criminal sexual offences against kids, and never checked out 2 wat was going on in ther home just left to keep getting kids and paid,I feel 4 my friend so much but happy that ther all back together, sorry this poor girl never got the same chance, but she will see her mum again wen that time comes 😢❤

The fact that Ric carried Tia’s coffin makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that the rest of the family sat by and let that happen, the fact that they stood front and centre at that ceremony knowing what they did. My stomach is in knots. I hope these people suffer to their last breaths.

My granddaughter was sextually molested by her step-father. She was the same age as Tiah. He was sentenced to 15 years but was told by the judge that if he attended all his classes and did well in them, he would get out in a year. I was flabbergasted! This was like a slap in the face to my granddaughter and made her feel like the court didn't take her case seriously. Three years later, she is still in therapy and will have to deal with her molestation for the rest of her life.
My heart goes out to this beautiful little girl and what she endured in her short life. Thank you, Emma, for covering this case.

I thought the exact same thing when I saw it - all of the horrendous things we hear was acceptable in the past are still happening regularly now. The justice system and powerful leaders just do a good job of masking it and pretending to condemn it. Tattooing sex offenders is a great idea!

When my little sister was coming up to 3yrs I saw he was repeating (or at least readying himself) to repeat the abuse with her so I pushed him in front of a train and was sentenced to 5 and a half years. She never got jail time. It's was like a sick joke, these disgusting monsters should be taken out back and shot, once you harm a child you don't deserve human rights in my opinion... One of the texts he sent to his cousin he says they can’t just send her away because his mum needs the money they get for her! But my daughter is 12. I look at her and I think of her being in that position, so innocent, thinking these people love her and she can trust them. My heart is broken for her it really is. Poor girl.

    I'm from Australia .
My close friend has been a foster carer for many years.
She is a single mum of 1 herself and was a victim of child abuse/SA as a youngster, mainly fueled by her biological mother.
She had such an awful childhood and a hard life growing up that she decided that she could offer a safe haven for those kids in need of stability and understanding.
She also had horses all her life and, till this day, works with and rehabilitates horses and ponies and help them find forever homes.
As she had these animals around her, she helped a LOT of kids in her care heal and find the love and basic care that they required, as through working with the animals, they began to heal from past hurts.
I think she did super well, especially as she is already a struggling single mother of 1 daughter. She didn't have a lot byt she had enough to ensure another child could live safely and securely under her roof and always have someone to talk to.
She also made it clear that she is who she is and is a no frills type of person who will ensure the kids in her care will have farm duties as well as school and so forth. But she never tried to portray that she is any kind of saint or miss goody goody. She was bluntly honest on who she is and what she's about to the foster care community. There were no swimming pools, etc. Just a small working farm.
It's the ones who come of holier than thou and so forth that worry me the most, as they at times can seem sinister IMO.
I admire those who take in children in need and do right by them and give them the best possible life.
To hear this story is heart breaking. As we have all heard at least one situation where foster didn't go as planned. But this story is just plain sad.
I know many other genuinely great foster carers who also contribute to the local community around them.
To all those who foster children, give them the best they can and provide for them and give them stability. We thank you.
For those who see it as a paycheck or a way to exploit children, you are scum. Especially those who look away when they know things happening are wrong. You're nothing but a coward and an abhorrent human. And this husband was definitely unhinged and shouldn't have even been able to even apply to foster, let alone have a foster.
Sidenote: DHHS in Australia is run very thin at times and as Australia is such a large country with a lot of semi rural, rural, regional and country/dessert areas, there aren't enough resources within the DHHS to be able to give 100% to every single situation they're presented with and that's due to government cut backs and so forth.
But, by no means am I defending them. As if i was a case worker and noted this child repeatedly running away, my red flags would be waving hard and fast in my face. Just the running away alone is monumental in indication that something isn't quite right.
But unfortunately, case workers don't always remain the same and people's case notes aren't always clear or information isn't passed onto the the next worker as it should be in cases.
Is the system flawed?, yes, at times.
But I can see both sides and I'm by no means saying it's ok.
The workers in this foster case should have seen the signs a way lot earlier.
However, HOW on earth the DHHS let a child be placed into care with a convicted person of anything, is beyond comprehension. DHHS dropped the ball BIG TIME, with this child.
They're not allowed to place children into care with anybody who has a record whatsoever. Even traffic violations can affect your foster applications.

To me, I have explored into crime and it never ceases to amaze me how on earth when screening these people to become foster parents ect… how having a criminal record for committing sexual abuse on any level in the past, they still get cleared as fit to be foster parents!! Nearly every time we all hear of these kind of crimes nowadays , it’s because child services , DBS checks, CRB checks and the people who are the ones who claim to thoroughly check these people out including social workers . How many adults, vulnerable people/children need to die before realising their system is “SHIT” and not good enough. It needs a total over haul as sexual predators are going to keep coming but we need a system to tackle all issues to how they even get close to the victims , sentences need to be tougher! Sexual education needs to be taught in schools of what is right and wrong and social services just needs to stop and bring in a system that does not keep one stone unturned!!! Maybe then there will be less crimes like the one above for example -Happen.
And one thing I will never agree upon, as someone who has worked in High secure MH hospitals and qualified in rehabilitation of violence and aggression , Rape and sexual abuse is a crime , not an ILLNESS!!! Because everyone knows it’s wrong but for sexual predators “ that’s what they like” forbidden fruit!! And just 1 example , A porn addict is ill, and needs treatment , but they don’t “ALL” go out and commit sexual abuse !!! It’s about time this situation gets resolved/fixed so we have a better chance of stopping these crimes recurring and protecting the chances of these crimes a lot more !!!

Tia got her wings and a little Angel was born she was given the role to look after babies and children, who were too poorly to stay. Tias role to hold their hands and play with them as together they cross over and pass through the veil.

As a criminal lawyer in Australia, I too am disgusted in the abysmal sentences these perpetrators received. Justice has not been served, and unfortunately it rarely is with our pathetic excuse of a justice system. More needs to be done, all too often.

I live in Queensland and this case was sickening and still remembered. The sentences here are disgraceful for these kinds of sentences. It's makes the average person here really angry and we don't agree with the lenient sentences for these kinds of dispicable individuals.

Sadly I think there’s no way he will serve his full sentence, our justice system is pathetic and we seem to love releasing people early. karen ristevski’s case is a prime example of how pathetic the system is here for sentencing

I totally agree with you the length of prison time, it is disgusting. O. One hand we are asking victims of sex crimes to speak out and then this happens. It's an insult. I would also ask how many other people young girls have been abused by this monster. Plus you don't just have an argument One day and kill you clearly have done this before. Very well covered as always. Love your channel
