For anyone that is interested. I just recently bought the numark mixtrack platinum Fx and it's a fantastic piece of kit. Everyone is different but for me I've never been interested in using 4 decks. Even though the platinum Fx is 4 deck capable it's not something I'll ever use so if your like me then the platinum Fx is for you.
The platinium FX is great but Haven t xlr output. On big sound system you hear the differences immediately between rca and xlr. If serato will allow to use your own sound card in the futur like rekordbox I never bougth a ddj-400.

@@djblaccs it’s doesn’t have the XLR outs… that’s why he says the Platinum FX is good for the money. on big systems you can really hear the difference. some people won’t care but if you play on big systems, you need to shell out the extra cash for a controller or setup with XLR outs.
Spot on when you say this fills a specific gap. I have been after a controller with aux in and double outputs for a while to replace my trusty ns6. I couldn't find one for anywhere near this price range and essentially gave up a couple of weeks ago, then out of the blue In comes the NS4FX. Just ordered and looking forward to its arrival tomorrow.
I purchased this yesterday as my Denon MXC8000 needed a repair. It's actually way better than I thought and lack of RGB pads didn't bother me really. -I'm using it on Virtual DJ and the only thing I'm trying to figure out is how to change Sampler Banks on the mixer. - The only thing I'll say caught me, was the delay in the pads. I literally have to time my pressure on the pads. It has to be a split second earlier than other flagship pads, but I guess more practice needed. -All in all, it's surprisingly great controller and I was on the mix for 3 hours without any complaints.
Great video, Phil!! I still use my Numark N4 and have mastered every function of it over the years. I am glad to see that Numark is still updating some of its old stabile controllers and I will definitely be buying this thanks to your review!!
Hi Phil, yet another informative and helpful video, many thanks. I bought this controller last week and have regretted it ever since. As another subscriber mentioned ,I have massive problems with distortion with the mic, no matter how much I adjust the levels on the controller .I tried taking it back to the shop I bought it from BUT they will not change it, what a complete waste of money.
I got one a few days ago and imo the best you can get in that price range. i am a Pionee Fanboy and I sold my DDJ-400 for about £ 319 and got this one instead. Yes it has its flaws but for someone who is about to work as a entrepreneur for weddings, birthdays and incentive events it really offers all you need. I'll stick with that controller for a long long time, just as you have said.
I bought this controller used before Christmas and it grew on me over time. I still love my ddi-sx2 but this serves a purpose. that the sx2 in it's flight case is just to big for. The big surprise is that the 4 faders can't be used to mix in analogue sources. There's the aux in on the rear, so that solves that issue. The mic inputs are not bad. Not great either but will do. The jog wheels are nice, same with the pitch controls. I think for the price, you do get some serious bang for the buck. As for sound, On it's own, it is quite good but you really do hear the difference in the sound reproduction if you have a Denon or Pioneer or one of the there flagship controllers. It works great with DJAY pro for iPad too.
12:27 So I just discovered that if you hold the Cue button for the selected track, it will show the levels for the track you are cuing as long as you hold it. Just got mine yesterday, coming from the Platinum and the original Mixtrack Pro before that.
It will be nice to have scratch bank on my S-9 . but I am surprise this unit is out. Did not expect it. Good Review Phil. I am not a fan of Numark when they do not put lines on their pots. EQ, or master. in the dark you can easily not be at 12 o'clock on the line or master.
Numark make some great stuff, especially for entry level /backup. If they just embraced the trend and threw some rgb pads in their kit theee would be no discussion what to buy for a first / backup controller imo
Great review Phil, thanks as usual. It looks like a really good replacement for a Mixtrack Platinum FX that I own (and I love) but eventually I'd like to start using 4 channels and this seems like the perfect choice (and way cheaper than equivalent PioneerDJ gear). Also the livestreaming feature looks pretty amazing and really convenient, for the price tag sounds amazing. All in all I'm impressed and pleased by Numark gear, I own a DJ2Go2 touch (my first love) and, as I said, a Platinum FX which is my current main controller (and will be for a while longer I suppose), both great purchases, both great fun, both great value.
I was just chatting with Mojaxx about this though, and he pointed out that Serato seems to have had a substantial price hike recently that caught me on the hop with this review. To get the "good" version of Serato (ie with Pitch 'n time, which you'd want) you pay $240 minimum but really $299 extra, not $99 as it was once upon a time! So in the end, this isn't such good value if you don't already own Serato.
Hi, how is the quality of the soundcard when we compare to Pioneer rx3 or ddj1000 ? I heard that chip controler have bad sound card D/A convertor. It is the case with this controler ?
The NS4FX is more of a 4-channel balanced extension of the Mixtrack line of controllers than any new iteration of the previous NS controllers like the NS6 and NS7. Also for the money, you are shelling out to buy the NS4FX and only get Serato lite makes no sense. Right on the Numark NS4FX top right corner, it says "Four Deck PROFESSIONAL DJ Controller. How could this be when "Serato Lite" is not professional DJ software but an entry-level package? I don't know any Professional DJ that uses Serato Lite at a gig. So the NS2FX is just a beefed-up Mixtrack Platinum FX controller. To really take advantage of the NS4FX hardware, you really need the Pro version of Serato which is $199 USD plus the controller at a $500 US price point. PlatinumFX is $279 US dollars with the same software as NS4FX. One such beginner/intermediate four-channel controller that comes with Serato DJ Pro is Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX6 for about $599 USD. I think the marketing strategy is a misstep on the Numark NS4FX.
Agree it is more like a Mixtrack than an NS build wise, but the balanced outputs tip it away from any Mixtrack. And yes, the software adds hugely to the cost
I love it! I'm looking for something that will compare to the old Denon DNMC 6000 in terms of connectiviy, outputs and inputs ... that thing is built like a tank and very reliable and very versatile too...what are other options???thanks

Wow that's what i call "premiere" this controller isn't yet available on Numark site. As Numark NS series lover and NS6 II owner i realy like how numark is working on new controller. Do you think it will be released a new controller at the same range of NS6?
I'd say get a Rane One to replace your ns7ii. It's almost the successor to the ns7ii in regards to layout. If numark were to make an ns7ii mk2 it'd probably look almost identical to the Rane One, being that they are owned by the same company. I bought my rane the day the rev 7 was announced. I have no regrets. I like the rev 7 but I think it's a bit overpriced for my use case.
Hi Phil, I purchased the Numark deck and most features are easy to use and does a good job. However …massive problem with distortion with the mic, no matter how good the quality of the mic and adjusting the levels. Unfortunately I have had bad feedback from a few gigs as I’m a live DJ at various venues and I use the mic / talking as powerful tool. I have put my gigs on hold until I find a solution. Sorry to hear that, not sure what to suggest here. Maybe a small external mixer that can take the output from your deck, and a mic, therefore bypassing the Numark mic circuitry.
Have you found a solution? I read somewhere that someone used the mic with line instead of mic on and it worked for them. Don't know if it works. I don't used that controller but I want to buy it.
@@hischransen8069 No I didn’t find a solution, I tried line in as well and was still distorting. I have since taken my Deck back to where I purchased it from. It’s with Numark at the moment as it’s still under warranty. Conclusion TBA
As I see on this controller, the same problem can be found on it like my Platinum FX. The selected pad function button has almost the same bright light like the others. Could you please inform about this problem the Numark? I did that, but nothing has changed... :(
Just an FYI, I believe the DDJ-Rev1 actually sends mic audio back to the computer as well. :) Edit: Actually it's even pointed out in your review of the Rev1. :D
Numark NS4-FX Mic Solution/Workaround: 1. Ge/Buy an rca to female XLR cable 2. Plug in the RCA to the RCA Aux - White and Red. 3. Plug the Mic to the other end of the cable: The XLR female end 4. The Mic1 / Line Button Switch -- Set it to Line. That's it. Now you have a perfectly sounding Microphone with NO distortion.
My NS4FX just arrived and it will NOT connect with my Serato DJ Pro (I have a lifetime license when I bought it years ago). I am using Windows 10, latest version of Serato Pro and have tried every USB port and different cables but all I get is "Error loading MIDI xml" and "Hardware cannot connect to Serato DJ Pro" .. Can anyone please help!!? Thanks

I plugged the NS4FX into my laptop, also with Serato DJ Pro (latest version) installed and the controller connected right away and works fine.. so I can't see why my desktop PC won't connect. I have tried unplugging everything else in the USB ports (except mouse & keyboard) and have my sound settings set to the onboard soundcard when I try to connect the NS4FX.. but it just will not connect.. :(
I'm a Serato Dj Pro user. I just discovered an issue with this numark controller. It has some second to millisecond delayed when i play my drum files using sync and SAMPLER. I've tried every possible factor to the issue, but to no success. I've adjusted the latency on Serato and turned off the Q button (quantizise) on the top left, but still no luck. I even use two different PCs and a 2022 apple macbook pro. I'm fighting the store dj i bought it from for a refund eventhough i didn't use it and it's brand new with no scratches etc. Their excuse is that I've opened it, but how am i supposed to find out its defects if i didn't get it out of the box to try it. They didn't even have a sample ns4fx controller available for customers to try out if it's up to standards. 🤨

Got pulled over one night and in a negative legal interaction with authoritarians I lost 2 businesses, my original pre pandemic job, and my identity, literally!! i mean but hey, what's life without challenges? Now I get to set and accomplish new goals.
Numark should have made it more obvious which layer/deck layer you are one. I feel like that is going to be a point of confusion. Especially seeing how the whole point of getting this new kit is for the four-channel mixing.
Hey Phil, thank you for your work. Have I seen it correctly, that there is no volume control for the aux-input? And neither a prepare-button for putting selected tracks to the prep-folder as i can do with the ddj sx-series?
Shoutout for saying how to get into the pro modes. The instructions have a typo that says you press the button twice when you really have to hold shift. I thought my unit was broken
The platinum fx was my first controller so I want to support this controller but this feels pointless. A major drawback is this is only has serato dj lite. To buy the pro version your total cost is now around $700. That's a tall order to not even get rgb pads.
Agreed, I didn't realise Serato had risen in price so much. It's actually $740, as you'll want Pitch 'n Time too, which isn't included in Serato DJ Pro!
I don't get how it coming with Serato DJ lite is a drawback. If I purchase Serato DJ Pro one time, I have it forever. If you're going to DJ for pay, it's part of your investment. Also, if you wait Serato will usually offer the upgrade to Pro for half the price. Too many people try to be cheap on the wrong things in my opinion.
@@djdavejordan6498 it's not a being cheap thing. It's about smart economics. It's like going to buy a macbook pro but because you didn't buy the top of the line range, you only get access to certain features in Mac os . But can then pay more to unlock said features. That makes no sense when you get to a certain price point.
@@atypical_blk_guy , a one time purchase for the upgrade is really pennies, if you are going to be a working DJ. Then, you'll never have to worry about using any Serato controller in the future.
@@djdavejordan6498 very true, it's pennies for the "working" dj but if a dj needs a back up controller and absolutely needs 4 channels they're going to look past this. I'm just a hobbyist, the platinum fx was my first controller and while I love it there's nothing special about the ns4fx that feels like an upgrade. Even for a professional that needs a backup controller a pre-owned sx2 is around the same price. Far better equipped. Hell there are so many better options that you can choose from when you start spending above $500. It says professional dj controller but comes with lite.
Run it on Virtual DJ 2021, Get access to all channels and all features, however, I've got the NS6 ll, the best controller, I've ever owned, always hoped that Numark may have moved to an NS6 lll , and tided up some weak point's on the MK2. like the Microphone control, and placing a switch on it, like the NS4 had (I wore that controller out), and also put a digital Microphone that would run through too DJ software, So that you can stream and record, I use a Focusrite Scarlett for streaming my sets, maybe this feature is similar on the NS4 FX to what I'd love to see on an NS6 lll (If they ever build one) However, I do like the look of the looping buttons on the NS4FX, I'd like to see similar on an NS6 lll, however, I bet Virtual DJ would unlock the control in the due cause, I did, unfortunately, purchase a Pioneer DDJ FLX6 (i was not impressed) as a backup controller while the NS6 ll was in for repair, however, Virtual DJ did a fantastic job of mapping all effects on the DDJ FLX6 including the big Magic Button, or a your "Get Out Of Jail " control., where you can change music style or big BPM variation. I'm still wondering why Numark stopped the production of the NS6 ll, after such a short production run and seemed to move more toward more budget and mid-level controllers and streaming stand-alone? Just another point to note my Numark NS6 ll cost me 500 euros in 2019, if you want one now, I've seen them online for sale now at $1500, three times their original price, I wish Numark would move back toward flagship models. I've been thinking about this but I have started scratching a lot can the crossfader able to stand up to scratching and can the fader curve be adjusted
So actually I ran my NS4FX using VirtualDJ on a hunch and the meters work correctly (like the Platinum FX). The LED meters with independently as they should. So Serato needs to come out with an update. How do we let them know about this?
djtechsys i have the DDJ-SX3 for big gigs, which i can connect my 1200s, i have the Numark DJ2GO Touch for practicing some mixes at the house, or on the go... this looks like a good back-up unit, or for smaller gigs that i wouldn't have another DJ connected for hand-offs. It seems like a fair price for that.
hello. How do I update the Numark NS4FX firmware? I can't find it on the Numark website. I have micro cuts in the audio of less than a second while I'm mixing. Please help

@@digitaldjtips I believe it works with djay pro and virtual DJ also. Paddle effects are cool on this controller that you can hold the effects down. I would really appreciate a comparison between this and the Traktor S3. About the same price also.
So I have the Platinum FX and there are 2 negative criticism I have with it. I want to know if they are the same here. They are 1) the pitch control doesn’t have a “click” or something on the slider itself to indicate you are at the center. 2) I’m using Serato Pro and if I choose the Echo Out affect, I have to go into the software to turn it on after using one of the effects like echo or reverb on the board. Are the same issues with this controller? Also can there be effects like echo on the microphone?
1. If you look at the screen tempo readout, you’ll see that there is a big part where the tempo doesn’t change when the fader is near the middle. 2. You should be able to change the fx from the unit. 3. No, no echo/reverb available on mic.
Hi, I have had a lot of issues with this item using serato DJ. I emailed numark and they stated its not eligible for serato DJ? I am so confused. Do you know of any other DJ program this will work for

Anyone know where I could get the drivers for this controller for a Windows PC? My friend got this controller and wants me to teach him how to use it and I thought I could use my own PC so I could use it with serato dj pro but I cant find any of the drivers online. Do i need drivers for this controller on PC?
Hmm ... None of the those issues with my laptop when on the: FLX6, DDJ1000, DDJSZ etc .. Can you elaborate a bit? Something I should look into system wise?
I noticed there are only two volume VU meters on this controller, one for each channel. Is there one for the Master volume? Or can you toggle it so you can see the master level?

Yes, although it is not a pro crossfader. Any latency/audio delay is down to the laptop you are using, because you set this in the software, and the faster your laptop,the lower the latency. In practical terms, it should not be a problem.
I have a Pioneer DDJ-SB2 with Serato DJ Pro - It's fine, but I fancy a new upgrade and don't want to spend more than £500. I need balanced outputs, so the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 is a no from me.. The Numark NS4FX seems like a good bet.. Any advice? Is it much of a step up from the DDJ-SB2? I was thinking of getting a second hand Pioneer DDJ-SX2 or SR2, but they are hard to find and I hate dealing with people when trying to buy second hand..
It is a bit of a step up. If your own your Serato licence then it’s reasonable value too. The true step up is as you indenting - SX2/SX3 or DDJ-1000SRT.

I was considering the DDJ-SR2 as there are a few second hand ones floating around on fb marketplace.. but I hear the SX2 is a much better controller.. would you agree with this? I am thinking that having 4 channels could be fun as I sometimes find myself wanting to cue the next track while I have 2 playing together for a long time. There's no way I can justify / afford the DDJ-1000 SRT. I was offered the Rane One for a good price, but I don't scratch and I'm not bothered about the vinyl feel of the motorised platters as I haven't used turntables for 10+ years.
I just bought the NS4FX. The volume LEDs are a really big problem. Not only do they not correspond to each channel, it only shows what’s playing through the main output. It’s totally unnecessary to have 2 meters because they both do the same. When you turn the volume down on the fader, the meter goes to 0. It’s pretty useless.
I'm trying to loop manually like I could on the MixTrack Pro. Is this possible as I can't figure out how to do it which is important to me for those Short Intro's I want to loop on the fly
@@digitaldjtips Ok, That is annoying as I thought it would have the same features as the mixtrack Pro. But it looks like the've taken away the ability to manual loop which was very handy for me to use as some tracks don't auto loop but with those awkward tracks like some r'n'b or reggae dancehall it was so handy having the manual loop

That "pad delay" seems strange, it isn't there on Serato. You should ask VirtualDJ and see what they say
The lack of RGB is odd when you consider that so many of us assign different colours to cue points over the course of a song.
Yes, always been the case with budget Numark devices (and other brands, normally, too).

No, we agree that is a shame especially on a $500 controller bearing the “NS” name.
At the price point and all the features Numark usually gives you, I'm not letting lights be a make or break.

How could this be when "Serato Lite" is not professional DJ software but an entry-level package? I don't know any Professional DJ that uses Serato Lite at a gig. So the NS2FX is just a beefed-up Mixtrack Platinum FX controller. To really take advantage of the NS4FX hardware, you really need the Pro version of Serato which is $199 USD plus the controller at a $500 US price point. PlatinumFX is $279 US dollars with the same software as NS4FX. One such beginner/intermediate four-channel controller that comes with Serato DJ Pro is Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX6 for about $599 USD. I think the marketing strategy is a misstep on the Numark NS4FX.
Agree it is more like a Mixtrack than an NS build wise, but the balanced outputs tip it away from any Mixtrack. And yes, the software adds hugely to the cost
I love it! I'm looking for something that will compare to the old Denon DNMC 6000 in terms of connectiviy, outputs and inputs ... that thing is built like a tank and very reliable and very versatile too...what are other options???thanks

I'd say get a Rane One to replace your ns7ii. It's almost the successor to the ns7ii in regards to layout. If numark were to make an ns7ii mk2 it'd probably look almost identical to the Rane One, being that they are owned by the same company. I bought my rane the day the rev 7 was announced. I have no regrets. I like the rev 7 but I think it's a bit overpriced for my use case.

I purchased the Numark deck and most features are easy to use and does a good job.
However …massive problem with distortion with the mic, no matter how good the quality of the mic and adjusting the levels. Unfortunately I have had bad feedback from a few gigs as I’m a live DJ at various venues and I use the mic / talking as powerful tool. I have put my gigs on hold until I find a solution.

Sorry to hear that, not sure what to suggest here. Maybe a small external mixer that can take the output from your deck, and a mic, therefore bypassing the Numark mic circuitry.
Have you found a solution? I read somewhere that someone used the mic with line instead of mic on and it worked for them. Don't know if it works. I don't used that controller but I want to buy it.

No I didn’t find a solution, I tried line in as well and was still distorting.
I have since taken my Deck back to where I purchased it from.
It’s with Numark at the moment as it’s still under warranty.

As I see on this controller, the same problem can be found on it like my Platinum FX. The selected pad function button has almost the same bright light like the others. Could you please inform about this problem the Numark? I did that, but nothing has changed... :(

Just an FYI, I believe the DDJ-Rev1 actually sends mic audio back to the computer as well. :)

Numark NS4-FX Mic Solution/Workaround:
1. Ge/Buy an rca to female XLR cable
2. Plug in the RCA to the RCA Aux - White and Red.
3. Plug the Mic to the other end of the cable: The XLR female end
4. The Mic1 / Line Button Switch -- Set it to Line.
That's it. Now you have a perfectly sounding Microphone with NO distortion.

My NS4FX just arrived and it will NOT connect with my Serato DJ Pro (I have a lifetime license when I bought it years ago). I am using Windows 10, latest version of Serato Pro and have tried every USB port and different cables but all I get is "Error loading MIDI xml" and "Hardware cannot connect to Serato DJ Pro" .. Can anyone please help!!? Thanks
Try completely removing Serato from your system and reinstalling from scratch.

I plugged the NS4FX into my laptop, also with Serato DJ Pro (latest version) installed and the controller connected right away and works fine.. so I can't see why my desktop PC won't connect. I have tried unplugging everything else in the USB ports (except mouse & keyboard) and have my sound settings set to the onboard soundcard when I try to connect the NS4FX.. but it just will not connect.. :(

I'm a Serato Dj Pro user. I just discovered an issue with this numark controller. It has some second to millisecond delayed when i play my drum files using sync and SAMPLER.
I've tried every possible factor to the issue, but to no success. I've adjusted the latency on Serato and turned off the Q button (quantizise) on the top left, but still no luck. I even use two different PCs and a 2022 apple macbook pro.
I'm fighting the store dj i bought it from for a refund eventhough i didn't use it and it's brand new with no scratches etc.
Their excuse is that I've opened it, but how am i supposed to find out its defects if i didn't get it out of the box to try it. They didn't even have a sample ns4fx controller available for customers to try out if it's up to standards. 🤨

I doubt that, as the Rane One is basically the NS7 MkIV (remember that Rane and Numark are owned by the same company).

Numark should have made it more obvious which layer/deck layer you are one. I feel like that is going to be a point of confusion. Especially seeing how the whole point of getting this new kit is for the four-channel mixing.

Hey Phil, thank you for your work. Have I seen it correctly, that there is no volume control for the aux-input? And neither a prepare-button for putting selected tracks to the prep-folder as i can do with the ddj sx-series?
There is no prepare button. The Aux input shares a volume control and tone control with Mic 1 (they are switchable).
Shoutout for saying how to get into the pro modes. The instructions have a typo that says you press the button twice when you really have to hold shift. I thought my unit was broken

The platinum fx was my first controller so I want to support this controller but this feels pointless. A major drawback is this is only has serato dj lite. To buy the pro version your total cost is now around $700. That's a tall order to not even get rgb pads.
Agreed, I didn't realise Serato had risen in price so much. It's actually $740, as you'll want Pitch 'n Time too, which isn't included in Serato DJ Pro!
I don't get how it coming with Serato DJ lite is a drawback. If I purchase Serato DJ Pro one time, I have it forever. If you're going to DJ for pay, it's part of your investment. Also, if you wait Serato will usually offer the upgrade to Pro for half the price. Too many people try to be cheap on the wrong things in my opinion.

It's like going to buy a macbook pro but because you didn't buy the top of the line range, you only get access to certain features in Mac os . But can then pay more to unlock said features. That makes no sense when you get to a certain price point.

I'm just a hobbyist, the platinum fx was my first controller and while I love it there's nothing special about the ns4fx that feels like an upgrade. Even for a professional that needs a backup controller a pre-owned sx2 is around the same price. Far better equipped. Hell there are so many better options that you can choose from when you start spending above $500. It says professional dj controller but comes with lite.

Run it on Virtual DJ 2021, Get access to all channels and all features, however, I've got the NS6 ll, the best controller, I've ever owned, always hoped that Numark may have moved to an NS6 lll , and tided up some weak point's on the MK2. like the Microphone control, and placing a switch on it, like the NS4 had (I wore that controller out), and also put a digital Microphone that would run through too DJ software, So that you can stream and record, I use a Focusrite Scarlett for streaming my sets, maybe this feature is similar on the NS4 FX to what I'd love to see on an NS6 lll (If they ever build one)
However, I do like the look of the looping buttons on the NS4FX, I'd like to see similar on an NS6 lll, however, I bet Virtual DJ would unlock the control in the due cause, I did, unfortunately, purchase a Pioneer DDJ FLX6 (i was not impressed) as a backup controller while the NS6 ll was in for repair, however, Virtual DJ did a fantastic job of mapping all effects on the DDJ FLX6 including the big Magic Button, or a your "Get Out Of Jail " control., where you can change music style or big BPM variation.
I'm still wondering why Numark stopped the production of the NS6 ll, after such a short production run and seemed to move more toward more budget and mid-level controllers and streaming stand-alone?
Just another point to note my Numark NS6 ll cost me 500 euros in 2019, if you want one now, I've seen them online for sale now at $1500, three times their original price, I wish Numark would move back toward flagship models.

So actually I ran my NS4FX using VirtualDJ on a hunch and the meters work correctly (like the Platinum FX). The LED meters with independently as they should. So Serato needs to come out with an update. How do we let them know about this?

i have the DDJ-SX3 for big gigs, which i can connect my 1200s, i have the Numark DJ2GO Touch for practicing some mixes at the house, or on the go... this looks like a good back-up unit, or for smaller gigs that i wouldn't have another DJ connected for hand-offs. It seems like a fair price for that.

So I have the Platinum FX and there are 2 negative criticism I have with it. I want to know if they are the same here. They are 1) the pitch control doesn’t have a “click” or something on the slider itself to indicate you are at the center. 2) I’m using Serato Pro and if I choose the Echo Out affect, I have to go into the software to turn it on after using one of the effects like echo or reverb on the board. Are the same issues with this controller? Also can there be effects like echo on the microphone?
1. If you look at the screen tempo readout, you’ll see that there is a big part where the tempo doesn’t change when the fader is near the middle. 2. You should be able to change the fx from the unit. 3. No, no echo/reverb available on mic.

You can choose it as a setting in Serato DJ Pro to use the bottom four cue pads, I guess that would work with this controller (not tested it though).

Yes, although it is not a pro crossfader. Any latency/audio delay is down to the laptop you are using, because you set this in the software, and the faster your laptop,the lower the latency. In practical terms, it should not be a problem.

I have a Pioneer DDJ-SB2 with Serato DJ Pro - It's fine, but I fancy a new upgrade and don't want to spend more than £500. I need balanced outputs, so the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 is a no from me.. The Numark NS4FX seems like a good bet.. Any advice? Is it much of a step up from the DDJ-SB2? I was thinking of getting a second hand Pioneer DDJ-SX2 or SR2, but they are hard to find and I hate dealing with people when trying to buy second hand..
It is a bit of a step up. If your own your Serato licence then it’s reasonable value too. The true step up is as you indenting - SX2/SX3 or DDJ-1000SRT.

There's no way I can justify / afford the DDJ-1000 SRT. I was offered the Rane One for a good price, but I don't scratch and I'm not bothered about the vinyl feel of the motorised platters as I haven't used turntables for 10+ years.
I just bought the NS4FX. The volume LEDs are a really big problem. Not only do they not correspond to each channel, it only shows what’s playing through the main output. It’s totally unnecessary to have 2 meters because they both do the same. When you turn the volume down on the fader, the meter goes to 0. It’s pretty useless.

I'm trying to loop manually like I could on the MixTrack Pro. Is this possible as I can't figure out how to do it which is important to me for those Short Intro's I want to loop on the fly
No, you can only auto loop on this as far as I recall.

But it looks like the've taken away the ability to manual loop which was very handy for me to use as some tracks don't auto loop but with those awkward tracks like some r'n'b or reggae dancehall it was so handy having the manual loop
