In 2002 Timothy Seaman recorded an ensemble arrangement of his original composition 'Sky Through the Pines' ((c) 1995, 2002 Timothy Seaman, 2005 Pine Wind Music, Inc.) on his Virginia State Parks album Sycamore Rapids. In recent years he has developed a solo hammered dulcimer adaptation, performed here.
The composition is for False Cape State Park, in the southeasternmost corner of the state of Virginia, USA, just north of the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and just south of the resort town of Virginia Beach --- but it's way out in the middle of nowhere! You can't even drive there, but must walk, bike, kayak, or ride an occasional tram. The tune is meant to represent the mood of a day at this exquisite park, leaning back on a sand dune in the forest, viewing a deep blue sky through the shimmering sunlit needles of a Loblolly Pine. Feel it?
The studio audio recording of this piece can be found on Sycamore Rapids at timothyseaman.c..., and on the compilation Gentle Breeze Beneath the Trees here: timothyseaman.c....
