Softly like a dream walks the memories of yesterday through my cloudy mind of the ages of time that have turned my brown hair white and etched each tear upon my face as a reminder that I was a girl..a woman...a wife..a mother and a grandmother..then a widow left alone in the shadows of my heart as your music made me walk again thru my life..Thank You for the journey. GOD BLESS.
I JUST GOT ME A HAMMER DULCIMER. I AM LEARNING IT AND I RELY LIKE IT I JUST LOVE YOUR MUSIC, AND I COULD LISTEN ALL DAY. DON STOP.
Have always liked this song, played on a hammered dulcimer gives it ethereal beauty.
Sometimes I think music is the reason why we are here to make it/enjoy it
Made me cry because it is so beautiful. Thank you. In a world with so much darkness this beauty is food for our souls.
You are so welcome. Have a blessed day!
Love this arrangement , so beautiful ... learning this on my hammered dulcimer
To my friend Mr Tim Simek you are the best musician I have had the privilege of watching for the past 16 years I have been alive, and I’m grateful I’ll be able to continue to watch you for the next 10. Thanks 👌👌👌🔥
Beautiful...
So beautiful and touching, thanks
You're welcome!
I have heard this melody played upon multiple other instruments. I suppose that each of them has a strength. But this version is quite unique. I like!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Gorgeous!
Joshua, heard your music while researching Appalachian folk music and the instruments. listened to zither too. both beautiful instruments. will share your music with friends, know they will enjoy as much as i have. thank you for the beautiful music.
Never even knew this instrument existed but you play it amazingly well!
I wish I could play it so well, haha, but Tim is very good. He's a national champion. :)

Me either! Like to hear you and and some other bloke shred a rendition of perhaps........."Stairway to Heaven," Ohhhhh hell yeah!!! Like a "duel theme."
Certainly food for thought Zebrawire
OMG!!! I'm speechless. Thank you so much.
+Denny Meroy You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for responding, I appreciate your taking the time.
Sure! :-)
its good to hear a modern sound on the HD :-)
Beautiful!!!!
Absolutuly beautiful !!! Thanks
I had this song for my bridal waltz (in 1986, lol).
If I had your rendition back then, it would've been my choice. I love the hammered dulcimer and how you've mastered it!
Do you have a video of your wedding? I can transfer it to DVD for you and add Tim's version of this song if you like. :-)

OH how beautiful! I love this
Wow! That's just amazing!
how can those people just walk on by?????!!!!!!!!!!!! This is awesome
They thought he was playing Dionne Warwick!
Teehee, only joking. I agree, if that doesn't make you stop and listen, you must be profoundly deaf. I've not heard this instrument played before, but that's a beautiful sound and the guy has serious talent.
I wanted to know what a Dulcimer sounded like as I am trying to identify one of the instruments that was used for the theme tune to a British TV Series called "Tales of the Unexpected". It's the instrument playing the chords behind the Sax if you fancy a listen.
I don't think it's this instrument though, oh well.
j4wn
j4wn I listened to it and it sounds to me like a bass, a violin and a keyboard. I didn't hear a dulcimer. I play the autoharp which is similar to a dulcimer and I listened for the sound but I just didn't hear it. I really think it's a violin.

There are teachers. In fact, Tim offers lessons and his contact info is available in the description. I am sure left handed people can play it as much as a left handed person can play the piano. There aren't left-handed hammered dulcimers as there are left handed guitars.
i have one and its hard to learn to play but when you figure it out ,,its awesome
I really enjoyed that! Thankyou.😀
You are so welcome! :)
Awesome, amazingly beautiful. that guy is a great talent.
@TRTSA1 I wish I could take credit for such music, but it all goes to Tim Simek at Smokey Mountain Dulcimer. You are very welcome for sharing.
Outstanding! Bravo
It's like a stringed piano... Amazing... I love it..
Beautiful!
I am glad you enjoyed it. If you want an arrangement, you may try Tim Simek at Smokey Mountain Dulcimer. Good luck and thanks for the comment!

It is a Master Works dulcimer. The size is 15/16, I think it is chromatic.
If you call Tim's shop at 865-436-5211, he can tell you exactly. He sells them, too, if you're interested.
Beautiful.
Beautiful love this song
To get the true effect, you have to see him in person and buy his CD's. He is usually part of Tunes and Tales in Gatlinburg during the summer.
I enjoy listening, you play beautifully, and use great song selections. I am just playing a year and you inspire me. Thanks. I hope to come hear you play in person some year.
I thought of coming and playing with you till I found out you are a GRAND CHAMPION.
This little dogs not in that league. Only in my dreams. But I'll enjoy the crumbs.
Love this
I am glad you enjoyed the videos. Don't let Tim's greatness scare you, he's happy to talk to people and play with people. He also gives lessons, if you're interested. His address is in the description.
Awesome
Thank you, lovely.
You are very welcome.
just wow...
@snestor1000 You are very welcome! Tim does a nice job.
dude... we may have found one of the coolest instruments ever 0_0
bravissimo!!!
Thank you very much, I will be sure Tim sees your comment. (I'm just the videographer)
Thanks. That's good to know. I tried piano, but my fingers aren't long enough. I used to play the bodhran, but I can no longer hold it now that my right hands doesn't work. So any instrument I can master with one hand means I won't have to give up music completely. After all, music is the words the soul can't speak.
This always makes me think of that movie Ghost, I tear up when I hear it.
Damn you, white people, DAMN YOU.
If you can move your left pretty quick, I imagine you could get pretty good at it. I immediately thought about how you play chords on a hammer dulcimer; since there are usually only two notes at a time available, you would hit the three or four notes of the chord in quick succession so that they almost remain a group. I would be very cool if you could take that idea one step further and just play every thing with one hand. Good luck!
I have always wanted to learn to play the hammer dulcimer. Can it be played left handed? Are there teachers or is it a case of teaching myself?
So beautiful, the triplets are a beautiful embellishment. I hope to get a dulcimer someday and learn. Are you self taught?
I don't remember how Tim learned, but he's a national champion now!
You have to listen twice to recognize the Unchained Melody.
Seriously? Then you obviously don't know the song!
Absolutely beautiful ! is that a diatonic or chromatic hammer dulcimer? Wonderful performance.
I *think* it's Chromatic, but I am not at all sure. You can ask Tim (the dulcimer genius) here: www.timsimek.com/contact/.
😎👍🏻
Beautiful playing, beautiful sound! What is the make/model of your hammered dulcimer?
It is a Master Works 15/16.
Thanks for watching!
***** You can order them from a fellow in East Tennessee. His name is Mark Edelman and he owns a shop called Smoky Mountain Dulcimer. He can be reached at 856-four three six-5211. I would try him during regular business hours, Eastern Standard Time. If he does not answer, just try again later, he may be doing a performance somewhere.
Good luck!
just excellent. Does anyone know which brand and exact type the hammered dulcimer is?
What do you call this instrument? I love the sound.
This is a Hammer Dulcimer. It really does have a lovely sound. I wish I could make it sound like that. Tim is a national champion player and makes it look so easy.

Did anyone els notice it kinda sounds like Ed Sheeran’s song “perfect”
Looks like the Appalachian dulcimer group in Helen Georgia.
