Your excellent "night" out at the Pub with your friends, reminds me of the old joke - "I don't drink any more; well, I don't drink any less!"🤣🍺 Dear old Pudding, bless him ❤💞
Being good and not watching until my husband can watch. I usually watch during the day and then with him.
😂😂 I hope you enjoy Shannon 🏴☠️
I was pondering why I like this vlog so much, and it's obvious really, I just like spending some time each week with Heidi, she's funny, interesting, a bit naughty at times, but most of all entertaining. Keep up the great work, I love it. x
Awww thanks so much for your lovely comment … it’s made my day 😂😂🏴☠️
We call it a tiger saw or Sawsall. An American boy scout tip when collecting kindling is to look up to see what fallen branches are still hanging in a tree. These will not be soaking up damp from the ground and are in the wind so will dry out quickest from the rain. Thanks for your travels.
I thought two ducks were fighting one day and when I got closer I saw that they were both trying to mate with a lovely little lady duck! Thankfully, she got away from them, but they had her under the water. Savages! 😡
Yes it’s horrible to see 😫🏴☠️
Heidi - You are a "hoot" - that's what we use to refer to someone with a highly active and suggestive imagination (I love it) So Funny and so subtle. Keep it up - what a great way to start the day - with a gi-normous smile and lots of belly laughs.
Aww thank you Lonnie 😃🏴☠️
To thinken curry, mix a table spoon of plain flour and a bit of water in cup then stir in curry. Add more if still runny.
My name is Steve and my wife is debb , I'm from Stoke on Trent , debb is from Macclesfield , even though we are landlubbers , we follow and love your adventures , keep up the brilliant videos and stay safe and send our best wishes to Jackie + pudding
Awww thanks so much guys, that means a lot 😄🏴☠️
That tool you’re father got you,in the US we CD call a “saws-all” 😊
The easy way to thicken stews/curries is to chuck some flour into it. Or cornstarch, but make sure to mix the cornstarch with water before you chuck it in or it'll clump up.
Thanks Karl, I didn’t have anything like that onboard but worth getting some for the future - thank you 😃🏴☠️
It's a god dad that buys his daughter power tools 😊
It's called a "reciprocating saw". Give you a hint my hubby taught me. Prop one end of the large stick up onto something higher so the blade does not accidently go into the ground. Dirt not good on blades evidently. Good luck. We're having a crappy spring here in the US as well. May have a beautiful day of 70's, then down in the 30's F. Awful spring. Take care Heidi. Stay safe and please, wear a mask in large crowds.
Thanks Sandy, yes I always wear a mask when I go shopping etc … no one else is anymore and it frustrates me so much especially on public transport .. I’m one of the lucky ones not to have caught it so far but I see my parents regularly and need to protect them more than anything else 😃🏴☠️
And the choice of blade you are using. You put a rough cut wood blade on that and it will cut like butter especially for branches. That saw here in the states is also called a Saws-All.
If you want your stew to be less watery, let it simmer for a while with the lid off, that way some of the liquid will evaporate away and reduce it, making it more of a sauce than a runny soup 🍜
Yeah, so once it’s up to the boil, turn it all the way down with the lid off.
Just simmer it on the absolute lowest setting cause you don’t want it to totally dry out and/or burn on the bottom.
Yum, now I want some of your stew 🍲
🙂🐿🌈❤️
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
Coriander is great, chiles, and garlic, and sweet basil, etc. A good curry sauce or powder is lovely tho there are so many different ones. Ah, YOU are a Lumberjack! Cutting your own timber for firewood, whoo hoo! Love the music, thank you. 🙂
Thanks so much Ann 😄🏴☠️
You can thicken your food by putting about a tablespoon full of cornflour in about 1/4 cup of cold water, mix together well and put in your hot food. Cheers
You can always use a little flour or cornstarch (corn flour) with a little water to make a slurry to thicken up any sauce. Love your videos. Making my way from oldest to newest.
It’s fairly easy to brew your own wine, and on the canal you can do lots of foraging. Lots of advice and recipes on You Tube for making your own, using Blackberris, Elderberries, Sloe’s, Damsons etc.
Ahoy, thank you but I don’t have the space unfortunately 😃🏴☠️
As always, love your video. 😀 the reciprocating saw from your dad is a great idea- just rest the thing you're trying to cut on another stick to lift it above the dirt, and your blade won't get blunted.
When needing to thicken a soup to a sauce, I normally use potato powder [basic instant mash with no extras, and very cheap] Not only will this thicken without having to mix it up first, it will also help smooth out the taste if you've overdone the salt or cayenne etc. 😀. once you have your basic curry stew, you can always add other bits on days 3.4.5 etc to vary the flavour.
If all else fails, break out the Dead Man's Finger🤣
😂😂😂 oooh instant mash is a good thing to have in … I’ll bear that in mind…. I’m loving my dead man’s fingers 😂😂🏴☠️
Use a Tablespoon (8 grams All-purpose flour) and a bit of water or a bit of the broth 10-20 ml mix up into a thin batter. Poor very slowly into Currey mixing well into the broth. Or half as much of corn starch. The first makes a very opake broth the second is translucent and does not need to be cooked more than a minute. Cook five to ten minutes for the flour thickener. TURN the heat down as soon as the thickener is all added and mixed in!
@@jeffmills5144 thank you 😃🏴☠️
rip saw as in a reciprocating saw. always have smash in your curries to thicken it up. I do love your idoim's
Keep some cornflower in Hedie thickens everything x☺
Who else thinks that rum hip flask is actually filled with Tea. Nice curry soup, lol, that’s the first time I’ve seen that cooker pot, what a great idea. Nice vlog, wish i had a log burner, my 2.5 year old Webasto packed up and boat is freezing, only heater i have unless i run a generator and an electric heater, and lets face it who would, as it pisses off neighbours,
😂😂 I don’t like tea hahaa that’s curry was awful and I had 3 days of it 😂😂 ooooh I couldn’t cope being cold 🥶 I like to be toastie warm at all times… can you not get yourself a little log burner ?
@@TheNarrowboatPirate when viewing boats a log burner and bow thruster where my top 2 items boat has to have, and would you believe it, I only gone and bought a boat with neither. I paid for a Webasto to be installed thinking this was better, but now realised they are really more of a standby unit or an auxiliary unit,
When I can afford it my plan is to get a log burner fitted, with a back boiler to not only heat back of boat as well as front, but also hot water when not moving, that way I can follow in the steps of a pirate and collect kindling and timber for free low maintenance heating. But in the meantime I’ll have to use the traditional pirate method of keeping worm, whisky or rum to warm the cockles of one’s heart!, 😂

Another cracking vlog! Top Tip: When you're on the lash, 2 Iboprufen just before you go to sleep reduces the effects of the hangover next day (22 years as a Royal Navy submariner was not wasted - although I frequently was...) ;-)
😂😂😂 thanks for the fabulous advice hahaha 🍺🏴☠️🥃
Hi Heidi ,I did not know that pudding was Jackie dog. Well I never ,the food you are cooking 🧑🍳 looks delicious, be there later to help you eat it lol great and interesting blog Heidi loved every moment, till next time take care keep yourself safe,John 🐣🐥🧑🍳🧑🍳👀😍😘🥂🥂🥂
Yes John but he lived with me on the boat for the last 6 years 😩
Funny how we have to do the same things, I heat my house only with Wood. Your backgarden patch is just a wee bit bigger than mine 🤪☺️🤗
😂 it’s good to be warm 🏴☠️❤️
Nice that people share with you . Your well liked ....Good soup day!........Robbie
😂😂 I had three days of that soup 😂😂
Those saws are very handy. I’ve been doing and still need to do more firewood. The power company did a bunch of tree downing along the power line a couple years ago so I take the 4 wheeler, little trailer and battery chainsaw out. Trying to get a load or two a day. It’s mostly paper birch . Nice thing when I split it the bark peels off. Wonderfull fire starter. Burns like it’s soaked in diesel. We still have snow where the snow plow piled it high.
At least it’s melting now though 😄 it was quite cold this morning here and been raining all day 😆 it’s meant to be late spring early summer here now 😂😂😄
You can thicken your sauce by mixing a tablespoon of cornstarch (Might be called cornflour there?) with a 1/2 cup of water... once all the clumps are blended into the water, add it to your sauce and the hot soup will react with the cornstarch and your soup will thicken it up. You can repeat 1 Tbsp at a time to adjust.
Thank you
Love to little puddin ❤️🇺🇦
Thank you 🏴☠️🐶
Maybe add coconut cream, turmeric and ginger, takes it to a whole new level.
Oooh I will in the future … I just tried to make it out of what I had in and it was terrible 😂😂
Well done kid , tidying up & using the proceeds! Just don’t let the blade of your reciprocal cutter go in the soil ! It’ll blunt it ;)
Thanks Peter 😂 I’m still learning with it 😃
Got Wood?..😂 Luv it!!!! 🤣
😂
Brilliant Vlog once again….never realised you loved Alcohol…🤣🤣🤣 love your music too regards Mick 💋💋💋
😂😂 thanks Michael 🎹❤️🏴☠️
Very wise of your Dad to refuse the chainsaw. Just imagine the damage you could do with that. Anyway is a Reciprocating Saw that you have. You can get different blades for wood/metal etc. I think when they first came out they were called an Alligator Saw. When you check the blade only goes back and forth about 1 inch. Oh great Vlog by the way, as always. Use a bit of corn flour to thicken the Curry sauce, looked lovely. Stay safe. Phil (NZ)
Thank you 😂😂 yeah I didn’t have owt fancy like corn flour in but I’ll have to get some for future hahaha I had 3 days of that curry 🤭 so glad it’s finished 😂😂
I'm liking your outlook, no rush, ive not had a good rush, for years, mainly due to a bad back and being 66 years old, 😂😂👍
😂😂😂😂
I recognise the morning after feeling - you were a victim of unfortunate circumstances :) Keep it up!!
I think.... I think you have the blade in upside-down. :D A great tool (toy) for stretching your fuel. Pirate that kindling loot!
Thanks Brian, yes someone else has said the same 😂😂 oh the joys haha
Good Video, That Saw you were using is known as a Sabre Saw
Chuckling like always you’re so cheeky 😂 Richard says you’ve got your saw blade fitted upside down 😂😂 loved your face at the prospect of 2 more days of curry soup 😂 a stock cube or some flour would thicken it 😁👍
😂😂 yes others have said my blade was upside down 😂 what a knob hahaha I know for next time though 😂😂 thanks for watching guys 😄❤️🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate haha 😂 bless you 😁

Whooo hoooo ! Amazing 😄🏴☠️ I hope you love it 😄🏴☠️
Another good 'un Heidi. Arrrrr. Glad you got my meagre $$.
Thanks Mike, I don’t get a notification as you send it to badges Onboard instead of the pirate boat 😂😂 but I noticed it when doing my accounts so thank you 😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate - Yeah I realized afterwards that I had done a boo-boo. I'll make sure I change the account address.
That is a very useful tool for cutting up food……
😂😂 especially with my cooking 😂😂
Hello Heidi - greetings from Poland
Stick hunting and collecting. If you don't use it, it only goes to waste. And what a great saw your Dad gave you. Can't be trusted with a chainsaw!
I'm so sorry you miss Pudding so much. Good news that he's a little better. Won't be long until he's back with you.
You mentioned the Peak Forest Canal. In my opinion, the most picturesque canal on the whole of the system.
Love "Nip In The Air" - what a great peice of music. Question! The stumps sticking out of the bed of the canal in Marlpe are very dangerous. There's no signage warning you. Can you complain to the CRT?
An absolutley fantastic video. Loved the cruise. Stay safe please
Ahoy, yes those stumps have been like that a long time apparently and CRT are aware but have done nothing 🤣
New music. Nice.
Thanks Dennis 😃🏴☠️
Used to love foraging for wood…….
Yes it’s fab fun 😃🏴☠️ the simple things make me happy
May sound strange but I always thicken soup, when required with a spoon or two of Ready Brek. An idea I picked up off Aide Edmondson (The Young Ones) when he did a little on the move cookery show on telly. See if you can find his recipe for Cheshire Cheese Soup, basically it's Leek and Potato but with cheese. Would be ideal in you thermal cooker. Stay safe Bab and keep the video's coming, I love them and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Thanks for the advice Bob 😄🏴☠️
Always make us smile. 😍
Thanks guys 😄🏴☠️
Just found you and really enjoyed it all. Have to gothrough all the back episodes now. Thanks a lot, I think I'm going to enjoy. Every one seems to like the canal around Marple. Going to have to have a look. Take care.
Thanks for watching Gareth 😃🏴☠️
Add Flour to the curry to thicken up the sauce.
🏴☠️😄
Try thickening anything that you have added too much liquid to with Rolled Oats (or the quick variety) Adds fibre and absorbs the liquid! Works well with curry. Try Badia Curry Powder (the 16oz size lasts and lasts).
Thanks Ross … I just made it with what I had in so I need to make sure I get something like that to keep in for the future 😄🏴☠️
I do admire you Heidi. You are very brave doing it all on your own. You go girl xx
Thank you so much!
THANKS AGAIN.
Thanks for watching 😃🏴☠️
A reciprocating saw, aka sawzall. We miss the snotcam. Cheers!
Me too 😩🏴☠️
I see on a lot of vlogs from England that folks are making a curry or going out for a curry. This is not at all a "thing" where I live in the USA. I've never had a curry but I'm now intrigued so I bought some curry spice and I'm going to have to get a recipe off the net and see what its all about!
Ooooh Susan, you can’t beat a nice hot spicy curry especially when it’s freezing outside …. It’s never the same when you make your own compared to going for a nice Indian takeaway or restaurant but I do hope yours turns out better than my soup 😂😂
Heidi another great vid and your music. Prob with lithium is where it's mined and by whom.
Yes very true …
We have a 3-day blizzard going on in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, getting sick of shoveling I can tell you that for sure, great episode as always and Happy Days Heidi.
Thank you 😃🏴☠️ ooooh stay warm … hopefully the weather will pick up soon 😂
Titan, we just watched your blizzard on the news in Ontario. Pouring rain here and blowing like crazy. Spring/schwing.
Winnepeg has riverboats but no canals that I know of.
It's really cold in New Zealand too, really foggy, Winter's coming. Just a wee hint with the saw - rest the wood you are cutting crossways on another piece of wood so there is no way that you will either hit the dirt under the wood or concrete. I learnt that the hard way and stuffed the blade. Poor duck, girls must stick together, well done that lady. Have a great week =-) Great vlog as usual. =-)
Awww thanks Lorraine, yes I hope the weather picks up soon 😃🏴☠️ bleeding freezing at the moment 😂😂
I can't believe you used my full name ... feel like I've been told off by my Mum! 🤣
Some lovely people about... a lovely side affect of using social media. You Dad has given you a sawsall or cut off saw. Very handy tool but make sure you have eye protection as the blades can be brittle sometimes. Lovely vlog ... shame about the ducks I know... Hope you're enjoying the slightly warmer weather this week!
😂😂 lmao … it’s a bit better this week but fire still in 24/7 😂😂
Just watched your video, and the reciprocating saw your dad got you is great. But I think your blade was installed upside down, just from what I was able to see as you were using it. Here in Canada we put them in the other way. Just a note I can understand 97% of what you say, so I will crack on and finish my work, tootle lou. 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂 yes someone else mentioned that … I’m such a knob 😂😂
I've been hiding the past few weeks. Catching up. Love this video!
Aww thanks Em, I hope you are well x x
Really like the music at 10min! Your always awesome!
Aww thank you 😄❤️🏴☠️
Thanks for the video…it’s been cold and windy here as well…I can’t cook either lol 😂…stay safe and take care !!
😂😂😂😂
Hi Heidi. It’s a crocodile saw. Best way to use it is to push the stop up against the wood and not try to saw just push down. Down in half the time.
Ahh great advice, thanks you Les 😄🏴☠️
Add some chia seeds if you need to thicken some soup or add too much liquid to recipes.
Ooh thanks for the advice … I just used what I had in which wasn’t much 😂😂
Ontario is about the same as you...windy but sunny today!
As long as it’s sunny it just makes everything better 😃🏴☠️
Try adding a tin of white beans but don't add as much water if you put the beans and water in to begin with, or cornflour as mentioned before.
Thanks Angela.. I just used what I had in, which wasn’t much 😂😂 I had to endure that for 3 days 😂😂
Down with duck rape‼️😕
and Cheers to you, Heidi‼️Your channel is always a good time to watch 🏴☠️🦜
Aww thank you 😄🏴☠️
Love your Ukraine badge - Slava Ukraine. cheers. Don't worry spring will get here eventually. It always does. Hope you Jax and Pudding enjoy some great spring days.
Thank you 😄🏴☠️🇺🇦
You need cornflour to thicken your stew. Or put in more potato. Keep well.
Thank you … although I ended up enjoying my soup 😂😂
Ay up me duck. If kindling was gold, then you would be a millionaire. Nice B&M bag! 😮❤. The saw is called a reciprocating saw.
😂😂 i love my classy B&M bag for life … it fits loads of shite in 😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I have gone upmarket with my Tesco bag for life.
Posh git! 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Heidi, you can borrow my Tesco bag anytime you like.
Repeat after me "Rum wont thicken the Curry " try a little corn starch instead but just a little other wise you'll have "Curry Pudd"
Ah did you say Sloe gin ,that's really delicious I've even had it over vanilla ice cream .My favourite commercial brand was Hawkers of Plymouth. That tool from your Dad is known as a "Saws all here in Canada " .You can get various blades for different materials like wood and metal, just make sure the blade is firmly locked in begore you use it.
Glad youv'e got plenty of wood and as long as its dry ant sort will burn ,beware of morning wood though as its likekley to have some Sap in it WG
Fridge sorted ,Another great vlog .
Take care ,hope it warms up soon ....but youre as HOT as always Cheers darlin XXX
😂😂 aww Ralph you do make me laugh …. I hope you are both well and the weather is warming up in Canada for you ?
Don't run your saw blade into the dirt. It's called a "saws all" , in the US.❤
🏴☠️
Hi Heidi. You’re using the saw upside down. The blade is facing the wrong way. The battery should be at the bottom. XXX
😂😂 yes someone else has said the same … haha ahhh well next time I’ll sort it 😂
Going through all your videos and really enjoying your content and the views along the journey. Thank you for sharing your experience and fun times on your boat..
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
Great vlog those stumps did look dangerous have a great Easter
Thanks Caroline … you too 😃🏴☠️
Aye up Heidi - Reciprocating saw - you don't need to push/pull the thing, it does it for yer..😁😛
😂😂
Always give you a 👍 Happy Easter 🐣
Thanks so much Martyn it really does mean a lot ❤️🏴☠️
I have just pressed the bell end and it feels good😁
😂😂😂😂
Heidi.... whenever you add too much liquid , you can bring it off, (often called reducing ) this will make the resulting meal have a stronger flavour, which can me too salty. Another way I get ove the po problem of too much liquid (but the flavour is good, ..... eat with crusty bread, lots of dipping and slurping, or, use the excess fluid to start another meal or soup for following day, or crunch uo some corn chips, or crackers or crisps ...you get the idea.
Thank you! I need all the help I can get 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate there was a typo, you can boil the liquid off. Not bring it off!
😂😂😂
I love your subtle (and not so subtle) humour mate, if you've got wood isn't that tricky without the correct amount of fluff ? I'm at it now....always watch your channel. Xx
Thanks so much David …. We got to have a laugh haven’t we 😂😂
Hi, just to let you know you have got your blade in your recipricating saw upsidedown, also we recently got a ninga air fryer turns out they zre great and use much less electric. Keep up the the good work. John from Barbridge
Ooh that’s good news about the Ninja … yes someone else mentioned the blade 😂😂 I thought it could only go in one way haha thanks for watching John 😄🏴☠️
Friendly suggestion: When you're using your reciprocating saw, try and position the saw so that the wood is up against the stop/guard. This will hold the wood and greatly enhance your cutting. Great videos!
Thanks Roger .. I’ll give that a go 😃🏴☠️
I also never buy kindling or firewood, it is a reciprocating saw, also called a Sawzall in the US
That’s Trev, I’m loving my saw … perfect for what I need 😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate They are great tools
Cornflower will thick up ur sauces when cook if u put to much watch just add small amount of cornflower..

Ooh brilliant 😃🏴☠️
I'm glad you did cooking because I forgot my dinner was in the oven. I spit my tea out and ran to turn it off. It was only slightly well done. Whey hey missus. Marple junction is a great place to moor. Like the new music. Are you headed to the basin? That's probably better for solar. You take very good care missus and I look forward to seeing you again.
Yup I’m slowly heading to the basin but want to spend some time on the peak first 😃🏴☠️ I hope your tea was nicer than mine 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I do the same. I throw loads of veg and stock cubes with a jar of sauce with chicken or I stick sausage in, oooh don't titter. Well, obviously I'm too late to tell you that what you were using was a reciprocating saw...however, I can let you in on a secret ingredient that makes it very easy to thicken up a sauce...McDougalls' Instant Thickening Granules! Sainsburys and other good supermarkets do them :)
Thanks Ronnie 😃🏴☠️
In USA, its call reciprocating saw. Best Regards Colin Colin and Heather. Once again a great vid.
Thanks guys 😃🏴☠️
Thanks for another great video. To thicken up your gravy or saice either use cornflour or even better make a roux using equal amout of melted butter and flour mixed together in a pan. Put in some juice from what you are making and whisk then add back into your large pan. Thick gravy or sauce be careful as a small amout goes a long way. Enjoy 😊😊
