Most genuine Mexican and Japanese glove makers set themselves apart from the rest in most cases and have more of a master leather craftsmanship look/feel etc. There not pumping em out like toys so the attention to detail is definitely on point and they use beautiful materials, not over the top just right and usually great value. Mexico, Japan, Thailand make some beautiful gloves!
I think almost all of those Thai brands crank out production, but their quality seems to be consistent. The Winnings feel, protection and craftsmanship may be better, but for the price here in Australia, you could literally buy 6 or 7 Thai pairs of gloves for one pair of winning, and for the level most people are training at I don’t think the $$ warrants the small differences. You don’t really want to be that guy with all the gear and no idea. Definitely some great imitations for fractions of the price.
@@dimmacommunication Yep, twins, fairtex, raja, windy, boon, even combat corners Thai gloves are very good. Thought it was pretty obvious, most of them are made in the same factory anyway.
@@randybobandy7236not true. I know this is 2 years old. But I know for a fact fairtex and twins have their own in house manufacturers. The top Thai brands have their own manufacturers while the less known and less big ones such as Boon contract factories.
Hello, I'm from Mexico, when I ordered the gil gloves, the owner was the one who attended me personally, they are handmade, 100% handmade, they use products of the highest quality, they also manufacture masks, sacks, bibs, pears and more accessories. excellent prices, they do not envy anything to zepol, casanova etc etc The variety of colors is truly endless! Made in Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico
Carlo the reason for the leather difference is because most gloves are made with "genuine leather" which is the lowest grade of real leather, Gil are made with "top grain" which is higher quality, for example Dinardo gloves are made with "Full grain" which is the highest grade, for $130 these are very good quality
Great craftsmanship. Looks far better than standard Casanova with their single stiching. But Casanova has better wrist support. I have 14 OZ Casanova gloves and they are very snug. Definitely need to try this brand out. I love Mexican gloves!

Wow, the wrists on your's are tapered? Mine are not. Even as loose as the wrists on your's look, mine might be worse: I can slide my wrapped hands in and out easily while the laces are fully cinched. GiL is the son in law of Zepol - so yeah, completely different company. 3oz over is crazy, I would normally expect that much from hybrids. I think I like your's a lot more than mine, they look like a huge improvement over the ones I got back in January (leather, design, shape, stitching, everything). At least the Necallis I got are probably better than the ones you got :D (ie. I wouldn't rate my GiLs anywhere near my Necallis). Great vid!
They are nice looking I won’t say they are anywhere as good as Reyes I found them to be hard and a little rough inside on the fingers but definitely ok one plus was they did not smell up inside from sweat like Reyes that’s just my experience
I have been waiting for this review for a long time. Gil boxing gloves does look nice on picture, and I do make up my mind that all my future Mexican Glove would not over 14oz. LOL
Carlos, great review as always. From your video it seems like the Mexican style gloves like Reyes, Necalli, Gil run heavy, do you think its a better idea to order one of these in 14 oz if you are used to training/sparring with 16 oz gloves? Not crazy about the idea of hard sparring in gloves which may be a couple of ounces heavier than my opponent's. Also, do you have a preference between these three brands?
@@csquaredboxing Hey mate, got the same question as Will here just wondering if you could re-visit it and give another reply to it. Do you suggest sizing down to the 14oz if you train and spar with 16oz gloves? I swear mine feel like they sit at almost 20oz its crazy. Thanks!
I have a pair of bronze Gil's 16oz for about a year. Beautiful looking gloves but functionally not very good. Very hard and stiff padding, very bulky and for a pair of 16oz each gloves actually weighs 20oz.

I’ve had my pair for a little over a month now and I’ve used them for bag work, mitt/pad work, and drilling and they’re still pretty stiff and the logo on both the backhands has begun to rip already. I really want to like them since they look so badass but they don’t hold a candle to any of my Rival gloves. They’re not great, but they’re not terrible either. @@wm.h.9123 A lot of Rival are made in China actually, and the quality is very good. Look up his review of the RS-1, great glove and I have a pair with zero flaws.

Two completely different types of gloves. Gils quality is definitely nicer but roomier hand compartment and the latex foam gives more feedback but less protection than the raptor. Raptor is more snug fitting.
