Excellent review, I wish I would have saw this before I purchased gloves and headgear from the current Casanova. Items tagged made in Pakistan, after getting the run around from customer service, returned everything immediately. They did not return the shipping. Necalli is the real deal, excellent craftsmanship, fair pricing. Necalli's customer service is better than their product. I will not buy another commercial product.
I have 3 pairs and they all have that gap you’re talking about and if it wasnt for that i would love the glove. Like you said even with wraps its still there
Great detailed review. I was also disappointed in the stitching of the Necalli bag gloves. The lining tore after a week of use. Nothing worse than feeling exposed foam inside your bag glove. I didn't have a great experience with the company trying to get a replacement pair. I loved the high quality leather, but plan to go with Reyes next time.
Carlo - as always great review. I picked up the Combat Corner HMIT Sparring gloves based on your review. They’re some of the best gloves I’ve ever used. Many thanks!
Wow! I can't believe this video is just over a year old and I missed it! I have this same glove ('colour and weight). Necalli has some anomalies (if you will) between sizes and colour ways, strange as that sounds. For one, out off my 5 or so pairs, only black doesn't chip and crack like the blue. Then, there are the padding densities between color ways. My blue 16's are exactly like yours... but my black and gray 16's have a much denser padding. Not too dense, but more protective and a very different feel. They're made in batches and I feel they have trouble getting the supplies they want (just a guess). Because sometimes I'll get 12, 14, or 16 in the dense foam and other times in the kind you have. I've never bought 8oz from them because they're not sanctioned for fights but I do have 10's and they're remarkably protective and long lasting. I like the deep finger pockets (similar to Everlast Powerlocks imo). For a bit of context, I love Winning for example but the short finger pockets in their lighter gloves prevent me from easily making a good fist. As a result, I can wake up the next morning with temporary carpal tunnels syndrome for a week or so. Anyways, I live in the States now, if there's any gloves you'd like to try let me know and I'll send them to your PO box. Cheers!
the velcro version i have is 14 oz and fits be great its a bit tight but i like that it looks better than the one you have, it needs breaking in then its great, it has double stitching all over unlike the laceup version, i wish you can make a review of their traditional headgear.
i really like the aesthetic of these. The padding on the wrist looks good, the boxy shape is ugly yet classic looking. Would you recommend these for the cost? I've just bought a pair of Alien 16oz. I think these might look more compact then the aliens, which is a bonus.
I dunno if you're still looking m8, but csquared had a good experience with Topboxer 10oz Aliens... I had a dreadful experience with the 14oz Aliens. Do you know what you like in a glove? What you will use it for? The size of your hands? How much you're willing to spend?
What if you have 9" hands but want a 10oz for the heavy bag, or 6" inch hands and want sparring gloves, how does that work, i'm a bit lost. great channel
Pro boxing makes good quality punching bags (USA made). Their gloves, however, are a typical Pakistan made glove, not at all the quality compared to most Mexican style gloves or Rivals.
I have a pair of GIL hybrid size 12 ounces and a pair of Casanova Velcro size 12 ounces. These are completely different gloves: GIL have thicker leather, better workmanship, heavier (actual weight more than 16 ounces), very hard, need a long period to break them. Casanova is a little lighter (actual weight is a little over 14 ounces), less well made (worse quality seams), thinner leather. But Casanova is softer than GIL, they can immediately open the palm completely. Casanov's wrist support is better. In the middle of Casanov more compact than GIL and on my hand immediately sat better. As a result, both gloves are great, but each in its own way. I apologize for my English.
Kevin Chen ahh yes! Sorry when you said 3 layer it threw me off. Main difference is this one has a wider hand pocket and not as form fitting as those custom metallics.
Hey Carlo, I bought these in 160z a few months back. Curious how big your hand is? My hands are 8 inches from the bottom of my palm to the tip of my fingers. I can feel it getting more comfortable as I wear it down, but my thumb gets squeezed on the thick lining of the glove. I do like the glove though and the wrist support is awesome.
What are your thoughts on the Casanova gloves from pro boxing supplies? I remember hearing sketchy things about them when the lawsuit was going on but can't remember details.
They’re standard pakistan gloves that they ripped the name off the original Casanova brand in Mexico. They did go through litigation and won use of the name.
Hey Carlo, just got my Necallis recently. Their quality's great. But you're right... The hand compartment is so wide even when I'm wearing handwraps, that there's a hollow distance like a gap (probably 1-1,5cm) between my knuckles on the inside and the padding (if you get what I mean). Are your Necallis this way too at 1st when you just got em? Thnx Carlo
I think I know what the problem is... The padding is WAY too thin. In other gloves the 'gap' would hv been filled with padding (foam). My coach said hard no on using them for sparring lol. Regretting a little bit but see if they work........
I'm trying to find a good sparring glove in 16oz that will be soft on my partner but not something huge and puffy like the Twins since I am only 5'5" (165lbs). Do you have any recommendations? love the reviews btw.
@@santoazusa Honestly they were a lot bigger than I realized so I don't use them that often. I got another pair of Top Boxer Alien's in 12oz and I really like them.
Just bought a pair of Necalli velcro gloves in black and after using them on the bag a few times, I took them to spar and got everyone including myself covered in black marks from the dye. I'm not exaggerating, it looked like we were all rolling in a bunch of coal. I'd never heard nor have any of my training buddies of dye leeching out of gloves to this extent let alone at all so I was really thrown off. Has this happened with any gloves you've used? Any tips on mitigating it?
@@csquaredboxing Yeah I figured. Strange given the reputation of the brand. I've been in contact with their customer service so hopefully I can get it sorted out.
@@csquaredboxing I figured you'd be interested in an update. They gave me another pair and I picked yellow to avoid a possible batch of bad leather/dye. The black highlights on it bled as well so I sprayed it with a leather sealer that leatherworkers use which helped. The leather just seems to be not as durable as a lot of gloves. The dye is already wearing off on some high contact areas after only a month of bag and pad work. Its a bummer because the wrist support is great but I don't see myself going back to the brand.

I love the blue that Mexican gloves use. It’s so much prettier than winning blue or any other blue
