    Great tip, easy and correct. Fixed my P0496 code fault on my Saturn VUE. Part cost $44, five minute fix.

    But on these gm trucks.. Between the fact that most have over 200k miles on the clock and IF you live in a humid area (like me in FL), the charcoal comes loose from the canister above the rear axle and clogs up the the purge valve sitting behind the throttle body on top of intake mani. Purge has to be removed and shakeb free from charcoal pieces and line taken off purge and the canister and have air gently blown thru. Don't take your 200psi air gun with rubber tip to the plastic evap line!
    If your issue is so severe that you cannot pump gas into you GMT800 or 900 truck/SUV, removing the canister and shake it out til charcoal stops shaking and falling out. For this, you can use your air gun 😆. Now it could take a few times/days to get all the charcoal out so that you can pump gas normal again.
    I did my 04 Tahoe about 6yrs ago. And my mom's 06 yukon this past year. But might have to do it again soon. Might make a vid doing so

      I think I’m having that issue with the charcoal canister. Is there a specific part number to replace and is it difficult?? Thanks

    Awesome video! I'm disabled but think that I can handle this one. This started happening after this no-it-all replaced my spark plugs (and denied breaking the cover over them) but is it possible that he did something, possibly unhooked it or? Sorry for such a naive question but? This young man told me that I had a bad battery and I said that I thought it was a Alternator and he said that he's an Import Car Specialist but he was wrong, lol , thanks for your help.

    Great video! Under what conditions does the valve open to allow vacuum?

    • @OzMechanics

      While it’s running it’s evap test and as well when it burns off fuel vapor from the charcoal canister

    What would make a valve continue to go bad sir ?

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  2 роки тому

      Cheap part or a damaged charcoal canister dumping pellets into the purge valve

    Nice video . I checked mine by trying to blow through it and air does not pass. Does that mean the part is good?? Check engine light is on and got p0496 from auto zone employee. Please respond. Thanks!

      Bmxicano2 well it shows that it is in its normal rest position by not allowing air to pass by. Now we have to verify it’s opening up.

    2005 Accord and changed the purge valve 4 times (part under warranty) but p0496 code keeps returning after a few weeks or months. Any other fix suggestions?

    I have a PO443 code on, also PO443 P, I bought a new valve from America, it's exactly the same but the part number and Bosch number are different, would this still cause a problem as it did not cure my code

    Would a high vacuum be caused by this purge valve? I’ve get so much that I can literally turn off the key and engine will still run!

    I change mine out put a new one on and now all it does is make a rapid clicking/ticking sound. Went and put a new one on and same thing.

      @@OzMechanics this is on a 98 Chevy Malibu. Wonder if that also makes a diffrence. But man this thing is loud and rapid at times. Car can be running hood shut driving down the road with Windows open on nice days.lol and cam her this thing going nuts. Then there's times i don't here it at all. Then few minutes later it's back.
