    Hook your bicycle pump to the hose and see if is holds then energized with your batery to release.

    just leave the wires plugged up, draw vacuum on the purge solenoid and start the engine, bring the rpms up a little and wait until you see the vacuum gauge go down. that means the solenoid does open at intervals. test vacuum lines to insure there's no leaks in them. if there are it can cause your car to run rough at idle in drive. good luck. test the gas tank vent solenoid too if you have trouble putting gas in the tank.

      I havece a honda civic Turbo 1.5 2017 and when is in idle on stop light on drive mode start shaking and the rpms drops to a 550 rpm but if I turn the ac or day lights on it goes back to normal 650 rmps. You think it can be a bad purge solenoid?

      Just hook vacum pump on it and see if it holds, or blow through it. If you can it's bad.

      @@cavalierabouhamma2828 the valve needs to be closed so your able to apply vacum(suction) to it and see if it will hold the vacum. That's all vacum is, your applying suction to something to see if it can pull air through what ever your testing. If your gage pumps up and slowly goes down, then you know you have a leak. You just have to figure out which way your valve works.

    normally the electrical does not fail, the seat seal or plunger gets worn & either sticks or does not seal completely allowing slow leakage

    Just because it's got power don't mean the solenoid is working. Check or then Pull it and add power and check flow. That's the only way.

    Scanner danner would have described it correctly, no current flow no voltage drop that's why you have 12v and 12v on both sides of the coil. When it's active 12v and 0v on the two because there is current flow and a voltage drop.

  • @tboneproductions2453

    I didn’t use a fuse. 16 gauge wire connected straight to one terminal blade and another 16 gauge wire to the other terminal blade on solenoid and then straight 12.6 battery voltage. All the magic smoke came out.Did this off vehicle,bench test so as not to mess up ecm/pcm. Solenoid showed 32 ohms of resistance and obviously continuity. Assumed it was a bad solenoid, so what the heck.Do need something to bring amps down. Remember,it’s not the voltage it’s the amps that smoke components 😖

    • @carolinamama84rr
      @carolinamama84rr 6 років тому

      32 ohms is correct. its a coil! when amps go through it makes the coil turn into magnet. that magnet pushes the valve open/close.

    I’m getting P0441 and P0455 (large leak) codes, which lead me to the evap purge solenoid on my 2009 Camry. When I did a visual check w/ the engine running I hear a hissing noise. Would this likely be a bad hose or could it be the solenoid unit?

    The worst I ever saw. Use the Right terms Man geeez. LED Light is computer safe LOL. A LED tester Light takes Less Voltage to Light then a Reg. Test Light, Because a reg test Light has more resistance then a LED Light do your Home Work ....... Just because you hear Clicking dose not mean the Gate is Closing all the way inside the Valve It only means the Coil is energizing.
