We were caught out in a bad storm elk hunting and my buddy sacrificed his beard and mustache to get a fire going. Always carry toilet paper and a lighter that's the best in a pinch of any kind.
I’m watching you with your tshirt hanging out in the snow like it’s no big deal and here iam complaining my Webasto wasn’t working this morning 😂 Man Test: you > me
Great video, Greg. You must stay awake at night dreaming of these plans. My 14 year old relative was out duck hunting and shot a couple of them out on the ice. When he went out to retrieve them he fell through the ice and never came up. He was loaded down with shot shells, heavy boots, and lots of warm clothing. Don’t play around when it comes to ice. Thanks
Best wish to all.... "You don't get to choose the events that come your way;, nor the sorrows that interrupt your life. You may hold your head in your hands and lament your weaknesses, your condition and wonder what you ought to do. To suffer, that's common to all, but to keep composure, faith and a smile is remarkable. This pain will change you more profoundly then success or good fortune. The suffering shapes your perception of life; your values and priorities, your goals and dreams, pain makes you; you are alive"
Don't get me Wrong Ladies & Laddies..Greg Oven is an Amazing Survivalist, he taught me alot, one of our 👑s of Survival.. Shout out to Mr Fin he's grown to be a beauty 🏆
The trap is interesting but I would be inclined to simply hold the handline. Since fish will often hook themselves on a stationary line I think all the effort for the spring action on your trap may increase the hooking effectiveness only marginally. That said, I still enjoyed the video, but this time, Finn was the star!
Happy New Year Greg, we all love you and there's nothing you can do about it😁 keep bringing the videos please, you have simply been a breath of fresh air in recent times, many thanks.
Used to make that same style of trap for birds and squirrels as a kid. Didn't exactly know the name for it I just called it the catapult trap because the way the string tension is wound. Mine wasn't a bit different because I would use two branches that were parallel with each other to support the string. Does it get cold enough here for ice fishing
Ya know Greg here never finds anyone else's hair in his food (unless Fowler is cooking for him), he doesn't owe anyone anything for his food he earns the old fashion way, he will never find melted plastic or a dirty bandaid. His food is pure good clean wholesome well earned deserved goodness! 👏 he's living the right way man.
Greg do you think about what's happening in this world today? I'm assuming it is the very reason you are trying to TEACH the population how to survive what's coming. Greg your a VERY SPECIAL MAN with a VERY SPECIAL GIFT-Thank You
I really like how committed you are having Finn as your friend. I have had Dakota for the past 13 years. We work outdoors and he goes with me there and everywhere.
Always carry a candle with you, rub the candle against the wood and it'll deposit little bits which will act as excellent fuel and gets fires going really quickly
Oh by the way Greg, I had a German Shepard a while ago and I bred her thinking I was going to make some $. Needless to say I ended up with several pups and only sold 2 out of the litter. I ended up raising 5 and loved them all. LOL
There's humidity in the air, temperatures low but not too low. I find this kind of wheather the most straining when it comes to keeping warm and starting a fire. No need for the wood chips to be wet, just slightly damp and cool, you're gonna have a hard time to get it going. Warming it up may help. Crumpling or cutting the pitch is certainly helpful, too. Anything to increase the surface for the sparks to catch.
Happy New Year Greg and everyone else who has watched and subscribed, say hello to Zach, Joe and all of your families. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas as well. Keep Finn out of trouble 😂.
Greg I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I have been going back & enjoying all of your videos. I absolutely love how you explain how to use simple things in the everyday outdoors to your benefit when you are out in nature. You don’t have to be some huge UA-cam “star” or go spend mega money to be able to go out & learn bushcraft & life skills. My Dad used to go hunting when I was little & I always helped process the deer. We always did that in his shop. But I enjoyed watching you show how to process one in the field. I know that isn’t for everyone BUT once upon a time that was the ONLY way a lot of families survived. They hunted, processed, preserved & cooked their own food. Unless you were lucky enough to have money. Never hurts to know these life skills. Thank you for for sharing your stories & educating us with your knowledge you have gained over the years. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with. PS….I appreciate your honesty in trial & error. Sometimes that’s the best way to learn. Rocks exploding in a fire….I never knew that could happen but I sure do now. 😉. Keep up the great work Greg!!
You should pull the ferrel rod towards you and keep the knife still .that way you use all the rod and won't get a weak spot so it won't snap 😉 ..happy new year Greg
You are the real deal! Please answer: Do you get an extra couple of pennys if we watch the entire ads versus hitting the skip button? Just want to know how to make your new year better. Thanks for every post! You are helping so many people who can't get out to enjoy the outdoors!
In that damp condition, those strikes on the ferro rod that create all of those sparks, is not efficient. In damp conditions, you would be better off slowly but deeply scrapping the ferro rod "without creating sparks", as to build up a little pile of ferrous shavings, then after positioning the pile of ferrous shavings on your combustibles wood shavings, sticks, and pitch, then you go for a fast strike of the ferro rod to create sparks ,that would ignited the little pile of ferrous shavings and because of the pile, the ignition last longer and burns hotter. When conditions for making fire is tough, this technique is my go to method.
My heart could melt all that snow just watching Finn run around with that well-loved football
We were caught out in a bad storm elk hunting and my buddy sacrificed his beard and mustache to get a fire going. Always carry toilet paper and a lighter that's the best in a pinch of any kind.
The moment of Finn staring with the football in his mouth was priceless.
It melts your heart. So adorable
He could not understand how that football was not crucial to the building of that fish trap haha.
I watched for that! Nice
He was trying to help 😁
@@oldpolak5203 I understand that , thank you for taking the time to respond.
I love watching your videos with my 3 year old. We love it. He loves your dog! We love learning and listening to you! So calming ❤️🌿❄️🕊️
Finn's going to be eating good tonight.
35:35 And now... Finn puts a smile on everyone's faces
I thinks he needs a Zack Fowler necklace, that's the first thing to put on every day😊
Gonna count this one as a tandem camp and fish/dog video.
Finn sure turned out to be a dapper felloooooow
I appreciate you showing the fire not lighting the first time, thanks for not editing that!
When you tie the three sticks together, take the one that wants to be the middle one and swing it up and over, back down and it will be very tight.
Greg u gotta do a SASQUATCH expedition with WILLSTAR !! He has the best Bigfoot channel on YT!!
I’m watching you with your tshirt hanging out in the snow like it’s no big deal and here iam complaining my Webasto wasn’t working this morning 😂
Man Test: you > me
One of the things I like best about the wilderness is there's no DRYWALL!!!🤣😂🤣 love the videos Greg!!

That's terrible
My Mom said if it's not a foot thick, it's not safe. I'm so sorry about the lad. 😢
Dad daddy daddy daddy lots of love for Finn
Reach for the High wood when it's high it's dry...in the words of the great papa bear
Best wish to all....

Hopefully Fin got his game of tug in with whats left of the football.

19:43 Dear god acknowledge him. Poor Finn.
Always carry a candle with you, rub the candle against the wood and it'll deposit little bits which will act as excellent fuel and gets fires going really quickly
Im sorry the bit where the stick fell is one of the funniest things that wasn’t intended to be funny I’ve ever witnessed. Absolutely perfect 😂
Finn cam was very cute
The “Collar Cam” was brilliant! I think a live stream of an Iditarod Race from a collar cam would be awesome…
Me too, Yukon quest or Iditarod live stream would be amazing 🤠
I can't make videos and I already have several of Nathan 4071s ferrorods and high speed strikers!
LoL I LOVED THE BIC LIGHTER PART LOL 🤠
Nice finish with the ‘Finn-Cam’!
I'm the same way Greg, to darn stubborn to give up!
I know how Greg felt when the feather sticks wouldn’t light and if they did they would go out when you blowed on it.
That is such a pure lifestyle, just Greg and Finn having the best time in woods. I
What’s up every one Happy New Years 🎊🍾🎈 Now let’s Lasso 2022 by the 🥜
