- Greg and Finn search the wildfire areas for Joe, the mushroom expert, hoping to find a location that will yield a pile of fungus. He does some foraging of his own and focuses on cooking delicious meals on the fire. He sears meat on hot rocks, roasts a rotisserie chicken to perfection, and shares a mouthwatering morel mushroom recipe.

I just lost my mom a month ago. Thank you for your videos. They really help alot. Much love from First Nation. ✌🏾😔
Damn that's terrible! I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family.😢❤🙏
God bless you.
Sorry to see this. Moms are special. Take care❤
Thank you everyone. My heart is so broken right now. 😔
I feel you. It's weird how it works like that isn't it
A mug with you and Finn on it would be cool
Agree
I'd buy that.
Yeah
💯
Agree
People love Finn because he's living his best life and happy mostly because he has the best dog owner full of Great Adventures
Ate the steak on a rock, didn't need but a lighter for light (near 2 grizzlies), and didn't need a filter for his coffee. That is so interesting! May this channel thrive. Gotta love it!!
Listen… I watch a lot of UA-cam videos… this is one comment that I could not put on any other videos…
I could watch your videos all day. You do such a good job. It’s informative, entertaining, and well put together. I really mean that. Keep it up Greg 💪🏻
Hey Greg...love your videos! I'm 57 and grew up in rural wv on a farm...had no inside water..outhouse and all...Me and My Mom used to go Morel hunting in the spring...what a blast... If people haven't ate them then they have NO CLUE how delicious they are!! My Mom used to Dip them in egg then coat with flour and fry...OMG THEY WERE SO DELISH! I'm disabled now but sure do miss those mushrooms! Keep up your great videos and God Bless...Love from the state of Virginia.❤
Va native here, too! I'm in NOVA.
Yer one of my hero's mister
the most realistic bush crafter on youtube
I grew up on the frontier 8 decades back takes one to know one. 🤠
20:28 the way dog is looking at you when you are pulling off the leg is just adorable man
Greg send me a coffee mug I love all your videos with Finn..
Finn likes this raw steak idea, that way he has a full steak of his own for first dinner, then he applies the doggo tax on your dinner and gets a few bits of your steak as well!
yea dogs can eat cooked steak its how most dog food is made anyways
You know I'm so glad i found your channel. Genuinely good stuff . I can tell you really love the wilderness
Greg u da best sending love from Berlin!
Awsome lil Friday treat!🎉
The best down to earth bush craft out there… love every show, really great stuff Greg.
I'd continue to feed him just as you would eat it. Nothing is too good for a companion like that.
Greg cooked it up on this episode , roasted chicken, plus the morel pasta over the fire 👌🏼, wicked delicious man🤘🏼💯
I’ve learned a lot from you Fowler and Joe. I appreciate y’all’s knowledge y’all pass on and hope more people feel the same!
Greg Ovens: Best hair in the bushcraft bizz!
These segments are great. Very entertaining and informative. Keep'um coming sir! Making my day with the in town job I've got now.
Since day one I was so glad when you got Finn. Ya know I think he’s got just a little husky in him, I don’t know what I’d do without my best friend Max my German Shepherd. I’ve always had Shepherds and huskies. One could never find a better friend than a great German Shepherd! Hope the best for you both.
I had 11 huskies at one point. I miss my last one Max. Had him 16yrs. Its been about 2 years his passing. Miss that fluff ball.
I had a dog named max. Half Blue Healer half German Shepard. Smartest dog I’ve ever had. Lost him due to old age 2 years ago. I have a new dog Sadie. She definitely is the opposite of max. She’s smart but so stubborn lol
I've said it before I know , if I was alone in the woods I would want Greg with me
He sure is a very beautiful pup.
God bless you Greg and Zachary and let's not forget the crew and Finn🎉❤
Finn is gonna be so buff
Right on Greg. Nothing better than cooking over a camp fire, the taste is simply just incomparable to anything else. The fire ban sure is the shits for all us wilderness folks, especially considering it seems to be earlier and earlier each season. Morel pasta was making my mouth water..great content as always buddy, you and the pooch stay safe out there.🤙😎🌲
Thaaaannnkkkk yooooou big man thank you, and Finn 🌱🍄
I really like the way you combine the best of the modern with traditional for a new outdoor experience. Man chicken morel alfredo out in the mountains. Betcha heaven adds that one to its glories. Great video, thanks.
He will be fine with raw meat, but he’s okay with cooked meat too. However you feel comfortable giving it to him. I totally enjoy your videos. Really learn alot from you
Thank you very much for sharing another great video ! Good to see Joe the mushroom man again.
That was awesome Greg, especially all the cooking...Thanks!
Love it you and Zach created another outdoor survivalist thank you for that
Zach didn’t create him what a stupid thing too say just helped him with his channel… like he did with Chris Taylor…
Always love your videos Greg. Finn really is your best friend. I'm buying a T shirt! Have a great week you two.
"It looks like alot of butter because it is" 😂 well hell yeah, I like butter. My Grandad ate fried mush, hog jowls and eggs for breakfast everyday for the about 50 yrs I knew him. He lived to 92 and cut all his wood and split his own firewood with a splitting maul, till he was 91. All he had was a woodburning stove, and chose to have it that way, so tjat was alot of wood to split, cause he liked it warm, believe that (you could get a suntan in his front room at midnight!) 😂
We raised two golden retrievers who lived till about 16-17 years old on raw chicken leg quarters and chicken organ meat, with occasional blended up raw vegetables, one of the dogs had terrible allergies as a youngster, probably to gluten, that caused the switch, the dog went from hot spots and chewed up inflamed skin to 100 percent healthy, long life, and a beautiful coat. The chicken bones raw and uncooked are particularly good for them with the marrow. I was skeptical until I saw the results. We have two more golden’s middle aged who’ve been on the same diet since pups, brother with two dachshunds who lived to be quiet old, same diet.
They eat the chicken bones eh? Always been told they break apart and cut up their intestines. My lab ate a whole rotisserie bones and all that he stole off the counter and was fine
Never give dogs cooked chicken bones only raw because thay splinter and can cause serious problems for the dog raw is best
Love you man, you're my people
Nice to see Finn having a good time! Fire ban sucks. My wife and I love cooking over the fire. Ah well, still heading out tomorrow to put up some trail cams and build some blinds.
Phew! I'm sooo glad you didn't pick the steak up. I was yelling at my screen "Leave him alone with it for just one minute!!" 😆 A dog will eat anything when it's dinner time so it's on you Greg to _know_ what's good and bad for Finn. I know which is 'ideal' but I don't think your comment section shouldn't be a _poll_ of everyone's opinions when Finn's well-being is the outcome. I'm stoked you're feeding him properly these days though, and I'm sure you're still giving him the regular all-in-one _preventive_ flea, tick, intestinal worm, and heartworm meds the vet said he needed last year. Best wishes from Australia! 👍😎🇦🇺
Awesome health and happiness to your German I've been watching your videos for many years you showed me locations that I have never seen in my life keep on doing a great job best of luck
Love camping and cooking over the fire
Another great video Greg. Boy that Finn is a champ and luv the look of the tin cup. All the best to you both and your adventures.

As a fellow Canadian who is into these type of videos, how the **** have I never known about this channel!?!? AMAZING video. Time do binge watch! 😅😂
Mr Ovens is such a great advert for Canada, what a great guy
Such a good hearted and pure person
So glad you are sharing your adventures in nature. Many thanks for what you do
🇸🇪
hi Greg, first off love the content :) now raw is okay, especially chicken. When you cook chicken that's when the bones splinter and can cause serious issues. We feed our pitty raw chicken and she is fine. Beef We usually cook it dice it and mix with veggies. She does get some (very little hamburger raw) once they get used to raw they say it makes a huge difference health wise. It's your preference. In the beginning they has the runs lol
Lucky boy Finn!!!!!! He is so cute! I absolutely love your videos. You are a true inspiration! Keep the videos coming and coming!!!
That smoke transition was pretty cool tbh
"Hi, I'm Greg Oven, and this is Ovens Rocky Mountain Bushcraft." I love this stuff. Keep it coming Greg, Zack, and crew! I need this. ;)
No. cook the food. You don't want the dog to get bacterial or parasitic infections. We cook chicken for our dogs daily. No sense in risking it.
Oh yeah the raw meat is great for him and allows him to safely have the bone, they should never be given cooked bones because they won’t break a bone cooked creates small sharp shards.
Way more than raw
I dunno why the sped up knife and axe work caught me off guard and made me laugh, love the content as usual Greg!
Greggers....my dog actually died from cooked lamb bones, they break off in shards and are like fish hooks, raw does not, it's best for dogs raw, but it all depends on whether or not the bone is exposed in the meat. Love the channel. Keep it up.
Best for Finn meat wise is a slight cook, like very rare just enough to get all the bacteria out. You were right in how you were doing it.
No raw is better
Its a canine dude. Not a human. Canines eat RAW meat
Both of you are just wrong. It's okay to not have done any research ever to keep your animals safe.
I have a friend that has a a dog almost the same as finn..
They used to feed her normal biscuit and tinned food mix however she had bad dietary problems.
They switched to raw food which we can get locally for about £1 a bag.. yeah uk lol..
It comes frozen and just feed one day and get the next out the freezer ready for the next.
And she has benefited tons.
Health, coat, energy, wait gain and such..
I don't know if its good for every dog as I know they all have different dietary needs but I know it most certainly will not hurt a dog to eat raw meat.
Love your videos you have inspired me at 46 years young to get back to doing what I used to as a youngster 16-20
My children are grown now and ive done 3 trips "localy"
And it's helped my mental state and overall outlook on things so please keep up the good work and a very big personal thanks from me.
My favorite vids are catch clean cooks! Not all of us get to be as free as you man!
Raw is actually extremely good for dogs. Organ meat especially. You don't have to worry about dirty either, they will digest it fine. You can cut it up to help teach him how to chew better though. Frozen fish is also really good for teaching dogs how to properly chew their food.
Watch out for healthy farts!
Nope. Cooked... Kills the pathogens.
citation needed, animal association websites say its a better idea to cook it
@@stoolrotty I've never seen a wolf pack running around with camp stoves.
@@Notyourphone. you should get a pet wolf then and dont bother cooking any meat you eat yourself, cavemen didnt cook their meat so why do you?
Don't feed Finn raw meat, cook it bro 💯
Great to see Joe back 🍄🤩
That was one awesome meal Greg
Why cook it? Have dogs lost the ability to process raw meat in the last 100 years while I wasn’t looking?
@@grimace4257 Raw meat can carry bacteria which can cause illness in your dog, just like in people. yeah you can give him raw meat but 100% its better to cook. one search away, not to hard
@@isaacmurray1941
If it’s rancid sure. However again I’ll ask, when did dogs lose the ability to eat raw meat?
@@grimace4257 They can eat it but its just safer to cook it i guess
Dogs are fine eating raw meat. Different enzymes in their stomachs. People are so wierd anymore.
Their systems are built for raw. Separate the bone. Thaw chicken wings and give them raw not cooked. Awesome video as always!
yeah german shepherds are good for raw meat but cooked is still better, for basically any dog, gets rid of bacteria and will prevent bacterial infection. that goes for any kind of dog
Hey Greg! I’ve been feeding my dog raw meat, bone in for over two years. Every meal. That’s all she eats, and fruits and veggies. She loves it. They feed raw food to all the rcmp dogs that get trained here in the Okanagan!
BIG love brother!!!! my little girl and I love ur stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm planning a 10 day Canoe trip down the Columbia river this summer. Inspired by your videos
this is one of the survival cooking videos I'll watch till the end calm relaxing n educational.
Morel mushroom are amazing, bring the soup to another level
Your video is my therapy, i always love nature, and i can feel it because of you ❤️.
I always give my dog raw meat as a treat he loves it, he's nearly 10 yrs old and is an outside dog, and is super healthy. Only yesterday he had a raw cows tongue !
That's health for our life, living like that it's a real bless
I swear I could smell those morels cooking back here in the UK!
Cheers friend
Those morels are awesome
You helped inspire me to move from Minnesota to Alaska.
Man oh man that looks delicious.
I would love to have a long lasting mug of Finn , you guys are top shelf in my book... amazing adventures, great footage, content is A-1 so keep on enjoying life & keep Finn happy, I wish you guys the very best!!👍🙂👍💥
My favorite morel dish is: saute the mushrooms and cubed ham in butter (garlic and onions, optional), then add your favorite white sauce (Greg's Alfredo/wine sauce is perfect) and simmer until thick, finally pour the mixture over biscuits or toast. I also like to add baby new potatoes and peas sometimes, or what have you, it makes an excellent base to build upon.
You bring me so much happiness and comfort 💞
That metal coffee mug is beautiful.
You're awesome with a bow Greg. The shirts and mugs are great too.
From south of your border I dig your skill and videos!! You bring hope and are doing your own thing!!!
Its always funny to see Greg explaning something serious while Fin is prancing in the background with a stick. Cool adventure. Joe is definitely a mushroom pro.👍
Thanks for another awesome video!!! Loved it👏Stay safe
But fella you are the most genuine out there. Watched lots of funny survival guys and guys with shed loads gear but yo my man are it
