- Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.
Greg heads out on the trail, far in the wilderness. But not far enough, with the wildfires on his heel, he has to camp out on a river.

After long days of work I always enjoy coming home to smoke a bowl watch me some Greg ovens and relax.
hi greg. with regard to the staying indoors. it works the same as if you have a house fire. people are advised to keep their heads as low to the deck as possible as the air is clearer (the smoke rises). with this in mind, people who stay indoors with their windows closed, the air entering the house comes through under the doors mainly and has a less dense ppm of particulate matter. this makes the air a lot safer to breath. love your vids. always wait eagerly for the next ones
Back drop scenery is absolutely spectacular, thank you Greg for sharing another great adventure. Stay safe.
Bite or not, there’s something about Greg’s cast that brings me peace
It's beautiful the forests the mountains and the crystal clear blue water
Awesome to see you had a catch and cook up , gorgeouse scenery always love watching your video each is a learning experience , And I can get out. I love the longer one's and appreciate what it take's to film such, But suppose you need a break from them on occation, thanks for taking us along Greg shall be waiting for the next. Ontario.
Thanks Again for the Adventures!! Appreciate the Squad!
More power to you Greg...i love your attitude .
Hi Greg. It is realy beautiful there. Thanks for sharing.
The fire is so dang sad Greg 😞 God bless Canada 🙏
Mr Ovens every day enjoy
Thanks for sharing, Greg
Greg makes me happy.
Been waiting a while for another video, checking every day
Me too.
"Dillution is the solution," as they say. Better off in lots of air outdoors than confined to less air indoors. If it is OK for chemical plants to dilute the tainted water and dump it down the sewer or Duke energy to dump PCBs into the Ohio River; then it must be safe?
I agree
In the pants right?
great videos greg, working my way through them, i live on orkney, scotland.. camping and fishing is good here too..all the best,
Hi Greg, Mainer here, like Zack. I know we all go for the primo fish like trout but you can catch all the unregulated, mostly invasive or even so-called "trash" fish you want here. I don't know if it is the same there. Many are very good eating, like white and yellow perch, or 'sun fish' (blue gill) or crappie. A lot of times when fishing for trout we catch 'river chub' (which are 'minnows'). One time my brother and I went on a camping and fishing trip and river chub were all we were catching on the first day, so we decided to eat them. I am telling you brother, they were very good. They are a bit boney but the the flesh is mild and delicate. Fires in Canada are nothing new, Thoreau wrote about the smoke from Canada affecting Boston, in his 1840's book 'The Maine Woods'. He claimed they were set by native Americans to clear land for crops.
Creek Chubs? Yep, 👍 a bit boney , for Sure 😁. I've eaten them several times and they really aren't that bad. I ground some up once and mixed it in with eggs.. really good! It's just funny, though. Since you mentioned it, that was years ago for me 😅
We were surprised at how good they were. a bit boney, but really good eating. , we just caught a bunch and grilled them over the fire. @@maxwell9734
My brother doesn't like 'fishy taste', unlike me, and he said they reminded him of haddock. @@maxwell9734
I live in northern (lower) Michigan and have had smoke most of the summer from Quebec fires. I am sorry about the western Canadian fires as well; it's just heartbreaking. Please be careful as winds can change on a dime. Please stay close to your truck.
Great video learn new things form you
we are lucky because we have Greg❤️
Thanks Greg all the best from UK 🇬🇧 👍
I really want to take a trip out that way. I love adventures and the outdoors. This truly is an experience. Would you ever take a fan out on an adventure???? I’d love to join. My son and I Fynn watch all the time.
Love these 🎉

Man I've been missing them 30 day survival
hope ur watching greg Pop miss ya bunch
Thx ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Im definitely one living through your adventures currently 90 at night is to hot to be camping in lol
Great stuff
The smoke is bad off and on here in NY too... But like you said, you can't just sit in the house all day every day..I can't anyway. Nice video as always!
Greg, I like your minimalist approach to bushcrafting and I TOTALLY understand the thrift aspect of your kit. I wonder why you didn't just use a Trangia stove instead of that big stove you packed in?
Love every one of your videos especially the end of this one when you say oh this hill is a real good hike and then you show fin with that giant log in his mouth just going up the mountain that's so funny. That truck looks really good too and man I can't wait to see more of your videos.
That fish-eye lens makes your frying pan look like it's the size of a tire.
Big love frm New Zealand. I haven’t watched yer vids since u we’re running round with that chicken.
All those breaks you sure you’re not a senior citizen 😂😂. Just kidding. Big fan !
I’m in west central Minnesota, and the smoke here is horrible.
Greg, I would love to be your sidekick and go on adventures with you. However I have medical issues and hiking is definitely out of the question at the moment. But if I can oneday, I would absolutely love to!
It’s great watching your videos as opposed to the staged BS video’s. Keep it up!
Have you ever been to Southern Illinois?
How long is that barrel on that shotgun?
My dog Rocky would love to play wiv fin...they would buz of each other👍👍💙🤣
Silica is also in drywall mud. Definitely not good for you that way....
How come you don’t do any trapping
love the video but not a fan of the new weird wide lens. disorienting and dizzying
still one of the most underrated bushcraft channel.
Nuts, I’ve never seen a hornet nest like that. Scary. We got fires out here too, except our government started ours. Was gonna say, going big with a 300 win mag huh? I said it before and I’ll say it again. Your way of life Greg is completely devoid of politics and people problems that are plaguing this world. Such a beautiful and clean living. 🐸🍺🔪🔥
Love the content Greg! I grew up playing outside. I just wasn’t Lucky enough to live in a place where you could just go adventure! So your videos make me happy to see what I can still go do!
FINALLY!! These hiking and then catch and cook videos are my FAVORITE!! Can't wait for the next one. Fires aside, the views are spectacular there. You're fortunate to have them!
Always enjoy your videos Greg. My family loves to watch them together. You are Mr. Wild Kingdom to us. ☺
Love your stuff Greg! Please don't ever change. your such a beautiful human.
Sleeping in that bed of moss looks better than any sleeping pad. Love these simple, beautiful, adventures ❤
Always a good day when there's an Ovens video. Thank you😊
Mr Ovens. You're a delight to watch and learn from! You're living the life so many of us dream about. Thank you and Finn for doing what y'all do.
Greg is great he reminds me of the dude that used to paint the Happy trees happy trees. I miss that guy.
We do appreciate your videos Greg 👌🏻. Thank you for all you do
I love your videos…really relaxing and a great escape from this stressful world. I was thinking… can you make bread in bushcraft… here’s a challenge… why not do a Greg makes bread and you could call it “ Bakers” Ovens… bushcraft!, keep up the great work. Silvo👍
My man Greg I live somewhere up in the mountains of Quebec and no matter what you do for Adventures it's always enjoyable you have a great personality
Nice overnighter Greg!
Seeing those fires, first hand, is really interesting.. I wonder if they will burn out before Winter? Fin thinks he's just going on a walk! Such a cool dog!
No BUTTER? Oh man that's pretty bad! Fin would probably just eat it up, anyway? 😅.
Luv your videos, Greg!
Nothing better than getting a little shower, even before you get outta BED! 😅. Take care, Brother! Can't wait for the next one.
You are one of my favorites on youtube
I really enjoy your videos Greg, I started to venture out myself, but with the heat waves and wildfires it's been a no go, I hope to make in back up to the rockies before winter sets in.
Love, watching from WV, USA
In my younger days I spent a lot of time adventuring in B.C. now I am older and disabled so thats no more . but every time I watch one of your fishing videos I wish I could come along and show you how its done LOL . just kidding everyone develops their own system
Great video Greg. Really glad you are OK I was worried when I heard about fires in BC
Enjoy your time with mother nature the true healer !! Best Wishes from Miami , Florida
Hey Greg; So glad you are allways in Tune w/Danger, &, Momma-Nature! You Know, when its time to stay or go! No matter?- What, you feel like you are really at home! My dad used to say, home is where your ❤ is! I absolutely agree with that! You always make it work out for the best results! Cz, You Do! GBU, 👍❤😁🤣✌😎🤗
Buy a tiny,,powerful backpack stove! That huge heavy Coleman is kinda ridiculous
simple straight forward honest greg
Greg, whether it's a bushcraft skill video or an overnight adventure (catch and cooks are my favorite), any upload is more than enjoyable. I'm landlocked in the city till October, so I appreciate seeing the outdoors.
I Love Greg too, just can't get out there like I used to! 😢, I'm an Old-Time Outdoors Woman, that can take it! Need to get my back fixed, so, 2ple more years! Totally Determined! Don't care how old you are, if you have it in you! TY, NZ., ✌❤😁🙏
That looked like a comfy bed 👍😊 love your vids, could watch one everyday lol 😂 prayers for the fires 🙏
Ironically the indoor air might be even worse, the concentration of harmful chemical's and pollution won't go away as quickly as outdoors unless you have a filtration system (re-circulation system) then your probably better off just keeping a fan on and or the windows retrofitted with a cheap/homemade filter.
On ya Greg keep em coming mate and stay safe.
Love your channel Greg. Noticed shotgun with barrel down on the ground. Watch that! Stay safe brother!
I appreciated everything you do Greg, and Finn too, I enjoy and love it so much, God Blessed you:)
Yes do appreciate yr videos and Finn. I am not able to get out and camp for a while. Keep'em comin'..!!!
I could smell that brown trout cooking Greg. Thanks for showing.
Just Courious, what license to you carry? to be able to carry a shotgun in the woods during the summer. In Canada. I thought we were only allowed to carry bear spray only!
Hey Greg any chance we can see you try the technique called " Worm Grunting " to catch worms for fishing ?
I wonder how many times has Greg woken up to something crawling on him for sleeping on the ground 😂
Greg, you are an absolute inspiration to me personally. Your videos helped me achieve a life long dream. I can’t wait to go on more adventures, and see more of the world.
You should bring a little bit more ammo Greg, i have met bears and have had to shoot 2 or 3 warning shots. I dont want you to get hurt
Keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland 😊
can someone tell Greg, as he doesn t seem to read the comments, please stop using Teflon! especially scratched!
Great show Greg thank you for sharing. Keep fishing have a great day.
Greg you make the best bushcraft/camping style videos, you should come to New Zealand sometime
And bring Finn
Hello Greg 🍀🍀💎👍👋👋
Sure wish you could or would put more videos on or out
Yes you make some GREAT STUFF OUT !!!
Just keep up your great ones on
So thank you so very much for them
Seen every vid you have ever produced….and without a doubt, you are the most unorganized adventurist I have ever watched! Sounds like I am pickin at ya but I mean it with respect! It’s why I watch, guaranteed this is by the seat of your pants! Love Finn!!
Believe me, this man knows how to survive w/very little to pack in! True to life Survivalist! NZ.,✌👍
What a lovely adventure. Simple, fun, safe and out in some of the most beautiful country. Thanks for taking us with you Greg!! 🎣
Love watching you and Zach collaborate
Greg could you possibly make a video one day making your blueberry wine you've talked about? Thanks dude.
Have you thought of getting a collapsable rod? I'm not sure one would be strong enough for you, but it would fit in your pack. Also if you got a small collapsable stove, you would have more room for oil, butter, spices, freeze dried foods, parachute cord, etc. I'm sure you know about these things. I love the catch and cook ones also. Another video with Amos would be nice.
Hi Greg pray all is well stay safe out there with all the fires going on we all enjoy all you do always in our hearts and prayers take care God bless
Cheers from Ottawa 🇨🇦
What amazing looking water !! ❤️💕❤️💕❤️
And found only here in Beautiful British Columbia
Excellent work Greg. Thank you
Hey Greg and Finn..
LOVE WATCHING FROM ALBERTA.
Greg is Bigfoot….and i love him.
We appreciate you and Finn too. What a joy he is and you're one in a million, Greg. God Bless and keep you both safe and enjoying all the adventures possible. : ) Hugs, pets and scratches.
Right on man !!!!
You're the real deal Mister!
I needed to watch this to see Greg WARM!
As a kid we called the Bull Trout a Dolly Varden. We hatted them because at least we thought they survive off fry and fish eggs.
Finn seems to be maturing a bit. He is no longer in the middle of your face all the time.
I, too, am one who lives thru your adventures, Thanks for keeping me enjoying rh outdoors.
I'm perfectly happy with your awsm videos in the Bush. You keep it realistic as in exactly what it's like to spend a day or two mucking around catching a fish and just looking around at everything. Pretty sure I can speak for every one of your Fans to say. "Thankyou Greg You make us happy❤"
