If you really want to be safe, don't pull out the ribbon cable to the touch pad, just keep the back panel at 90 degrees and remove/replace the battery. That ribbon cable is very annoying to put back into its clip, and the clip itself is tiny and fragile and also prone to breaking.
I'd say there is bigger chance that you rip it off if you don't remove it first. It's really hard to change the battery while holding it, especially to unclip and clip it in. I rather removed it cause one bad move and it's ripped.
I saw this video like 1-2 years ago and FINALLY I switched the battery today lol I left the ribbon cable connected to the back part of the console. Since, the ribbon looks difficult to put back on the back part. Instead, I was able to angle the ribbon cable attach to the back part and have no issues. I realized the battery connector, you have to pull it up. Since it connects downward to the PS VITA. Luckily, this process was easy. I didn't have gloves on but i was very careful.
Hey man, hope you’re good,I would like to know what model vita you have and where did you buy the battery from bcz I got mine Cameron sino and my psvita wouldn’t turn on 🙃
I know its a bit too late but i just want to say thanks for the video. At first i don’t know how to take the battery off since most people said i have to be very careful in taking things apart but once i saw you yank the cable out it made me realized how it sticks. If it wasn’t for this video i would have to spend a lot just for labour charges
Thanks for the tutorial, I managed to open mine, detach the battery and reattach it, that got it to charge again, didn't end up needing to buy a new battery
@@OneBadAssDJ I really appreciated giving a comment for update. mine is similar to this battery and will arrive in a week. will replace mine because battery drained pretty quick. hope the new one last longer
@@AHMED-HB Unfortuanetly, I ruined my twin sticks while trying to replace it. Which lead me to buy a used vita from Japan in great condition. Still have the battery but didn't use it
For anyone struggling to put ribbon cable in you need to two tweezers one with good grip and another to put the lock down when in place use a shoe box or something to hold the back plate up right and then position the ribbon cable and where it needs to go and use somthing to raise the main board up so you have more leverage with the cable as when you pull the ribbon cable it's not fully in place so higher mainboard means you will be closer to the lock it was annoying but once i figured this out did it straight away using this method.
Do you really have to pull the screen cable back to change the battery? Looks like you can just change it while holding the back plate and being gentle.
@@LeonStephan That will makes things difficult because you need a bit strength to pull the battery cable while holding the plate. You may damage ribbon cable accidentally so I don’t recommend it.
Do you need to disconnect back touchscreen? Can't I replace the battery without removing back of the console completely? As far I can see you could easily replace the battery without disconnecting brown cable. am I wrong?
You could, but it may make it easier, those ribbon cables are very fragile, if you want to risk ripping it then you could. but i can also see that you would be scared to take it out too.
Is there a way I contact with you please? Because I want to fix my ps vita 2000 battery with a new one which is 3.6V and I am not getting it anywhere. So help me please 😢
Where did you film this? The surface of the Sun? ;-) This is a great video, actually. My Vita slim won't charge above half-way and I'm looking into battery replacement. Exactly what I was looking for.
I have just discovered that. There's a bronze module below the rear camera on the mobo, that's the wifi module. The wifi antenna is very fragile tho, it connects through the mobo with two tiny sockets.
Don't be too harsh on the ribbon cable, it's very very fragile.
Be gentle with it.
I've unglued it from the back plate... Any idea on how to fix it?

Quite easy. I am only going to do it with my fix kit though that has tweezers and small pry tools
The most difficult part is putting back the ribbon cable. The hole is so small. Took me 30 mins to put it back.
