Both are pretty awesome. The 992 should have gotten a GT3 six speed and then hands down it’s the modern classic to the 997s classic comparison. I do think the 997 is the truer throwback car to pure Porsche canyon carving days. The bigger cars don’t quite do it for me. Maybe I’m not modern enough to make the leap from 997s. I drive a 997 GTS and have a ducktail in the garage I haven’t pulled the trigger to install just yet 😬 but every time I see the sport classic I’m closer to pulling the trigger
Great review Lee. Spot on with your comparisons from an armchair perspective although my manual 997 GTS was not too dissimilar and I can agree those early DFI engines lack a bit of soul. Size-wise I’ll take the 997 any day, but Porsche did a better proper effort with 992 to make it special. Would love to compare these to the one-off US 996 Sport Classic. I suspect that might be the best driving all 3 for a driver. 😊
I'd forgotten how rubbish those standard 997 exhausts are with the DFI engine! Lucky its a cheap job to fix them, like I have on my gen 2 C4S. That'd add everything missing on the Sport Classic - that'd be my dream 997 I think (alongside the GT3 RS 4.0 of course!). Nice review. 👍👍
Love the videos by the way, HOWEVER 😁, there is no way on God's green earth, that swapping a PDK for a manual gearbox and ditching the front wheel drive only equates to saving 40kg. No chance. Apart from that, keep up the good work 👍😁
The 997 is utterly gorgeous , very surprised with the lack of noise very disappointing . It’s not the sort of car you’d want to modify by changing the exhaust . Not that it’s going to be something I’ll experience , the price of them is ridiculous!
Actually, a center muffler delete is fairly cost-effective, easy to install and adds quite a bit of character. You can also do the Fister/Gundo mod for even more sound. Easy mods with good effect.
997 Sportclassic the most beautifull Porsche ever
All the way for 997.2
Sweets Pdk, and modern classic interior...love it anytime, any years
Much prefer the look and size of the 997..
It all went downhill after the 997.
So true
Another great vid from Lee. I’ve subscribed. Great review. I’d choose the 997. 911 FTW! Cheers/B
As an owner of a 997 GTS with stock sport exhaust I can’t understand why asking prices for Sport Classics are 5x higher.
Because there’s only 250 of ‘em and they’re not the same as any other 997.
I think your right
And there are enough folks out there with enough funds to drive the value up. Demand>supply. Same reason why GT4RS sells for 2x list.
Great content. I am still surprised this channel doesn't have 10x the subscribers
I prefer the look of the 992 turbo S with its air ducts in the flared arches, the rear spoiler of the turbo S
ahhh my favorite! (997)
Least important... but the 992 sport classic interior with its historic references is superb.
Great
Quality film, did well to capture the sounds and sights from within the cars. Both epic 911’s
Love my 997, but driving a 2016 GT3RS was an experience
Great presentation, Lee. Thanks so much. The 997 Sport Classic is the only 911 I would trade my 40Jahre for. Truth.

Six speed wouldn’t fit the engine block in the 992. Know that from Boris Apenbrink himself.
@@Askgeez - 6 speed transmission bellows doesn’t fit the turbo 3.7 engine block?
I thought there were torque limitations on the 6 speed. The Turbo engines torque would overwhelm the 6 speed, at least that's what I recall seeing.
997 just seems right
That said, Little Irish nearly has a 2/3 Sport Classic spec right now. If you take the PCA 996 Club Classic Coupe as a reference!
997 👌
The 992 is just too big. The 997 is a much more usable size. I am bias as I own a 997.2.

awesome classic
997 total perfection, after that too BIG and electric steering, non manual and engine change for emissions etc.

Sport classic grey actually isn’t a unique color. Well it is on a 997. But it was once factory color.

I’ve done similar mods on a few Porsches , that sport classic is something I’d want to keep totally standard .
--for"purists"... Pure "duvets car" since it has none of the electronics on today's 992s..... No NAV screen... Basic Porsche suspension....
