Never got a ps5 because the prices at launch were all scalper prices. Happened across a series x. Now this machine is actually tempting. All the games I’ve skipped from the ps4 pro era will now have the best available play quality on a console.
If you support this, you are enabling console manufacturers to make this the norm for future generations. $700 for a console without a disc drive or even a stand is robbery.
Yawn 🥱 This is for enthusiasts, extra option. They don’t need to subsidise like they do with vanilla PS5. Console pricing depends on macroeconomics/inflation and poor competition. You can get Series X with 2TB for $599. So why not get the best console for $100 more. 99% of games I’ve purchased are digital anyway.
@@tomaszstarzZz Xbox series x comes with a disc drive 😂. Irony is that you talk bout macroeconomics but have zero understanding about it. Easy to go on Google, read the article title and come over here saying random shit looking like a clown

Just because you can't see the difference on a compressed YT video doesn't mean it's a scam. You're just ignorant. As for the Series X, the base PS5 already matches it or beats it in several games, the Pro adds further insult to injury with the upscaling and RT.
You also need a 4k OLED HDR VRR 120hz TV. If your TV doesn't have VRR or 120hz youre not going to get the limited amount of improvement the system provides.
I think the reason it’s not is because it doesn’t make sense for Sony to subsidize this. The purpose of subsidies is to bring people into the PlayStation ecosystem and buy games there. Almost everyone buying a PS5 Pro is already in the PlayStation ecosystem.
We just want more games 😢. The PS5 library is still laughable. Makes no sense to shell out more $$ for last gen enhanced games. We've already played them.
I just can’t see myself replaying any of the games that have been Pro Enhanced. Really can’t see it as a worthwhile purchase when we can just wait for the PS6.
You kids today with your backlogs and no time to revisit games. To be fair, most dedicated GPUs that cost more than this console struggle to hit native 4K. I don’t see any reason to resist upscalers if they’re able to create an image that’s 99% there. I’d prefer to not have enormous, power hungry, and hyper expensive GPUs

The real question here is, what are you going to do? Is it worth the upgrade? Sell your ps5 slim you just got a few months ago? I’m selling my PS5 slim to get a 4060 and put some money to build a pc, I’m at the point where I’m just tired of buying a new console every few years then buy again all the games I already had but now you have to pay to get a better version with more fps, pay for a monthly subscription to play online. I just believe it’s not worth the money. What do you guys think?
You're seeing through the deception. Good on you. Pc gaming is awesome. Lots of games and backwards compatibility. No subscriptions. Games Always have framerate unlocked so u don't have to keep buying "remasters".
If you already have PS5 OG/Slim then why buy Pro? Based on all 100s of videos I've seen I feel that PS5 Pro is an upgrade for a small minority and for the tech youtubers. If you really want PS5 Pro and you got the money, od course you should buy it. It's a better console. But try it before you buy it. Try some different games.
You mean the from expansion slot? Yeah. You might format it, but I hope not. I will be moving my 4TB so I hope I won’t have to queue downloading for a couple of days 😂😅
The problem I have with this console is the PS5 needs more new games. I have already played most of the top games. Not going back to play Rebirth and what not.
@dosboss7589 I can tell you lack reading comprehension. OP said he played "MOST OF THE TOP GAMES"...There are literally just a handful of top games that came to Playstation...
Score seems reasonable. Worth if you think you'll get the most out of it, probably not for most consumers or casual audiences. I still think they should've included the vertical stand in the box, seems like a weird omission considering how expensive the console is.
Exactly. Like when the reviewer mentioned getting exactly what he wanted for FF7 Rebirth: I really doubt he’s gonna replay like a 100 hour long game. Just boot up the game for 30 minutes, say “wow this looks good” and then uninstall it.
@@Evanz111 yeah i dont get the justification everyone is using rebirth, no one's buying a console for one game, and at that price, what does rebirth matter in this case who tf cares? esp when it should have run better in the first place, that's a crazy reasoning to get a Pro. and yeah i already played these games, im not interested in spending hrs and hrs to do the same thing, too many games to play
An upgrade for enthusiasts. Nothing wrong with that and it's not so different from other product lines. There's always an upper echelon of televisions, headphones, mobiles etc. costing comparatively a lot of money. However you get the best of what's available right now. The law of diminishing returns kicks in (1,5x higher cost doesn't mean 1,5x more speed for example), but when you're an enthusiast you don't care. Again: you want the best of the best hardware wise. So my applause is to those people going for it. Enjoy your buy!
I just got my ps5 pro, i play on a LG C2 Oled, i will keep you guys updated what i see in difference between my base ps5 and the pro in some of the games
Opinion fellow gamers, I preordered a pro. Coming from a ps4 is the jump worth it? After seeing this review wondering if I should switch to disc base version.
If you had a ps4 I would recommend just getting the ps5 slim. Pro is unnecessarily expensive as they don’t have any rival company offering the same features for that price.
PS4 pro was the best console to play PS4 games Ps5 is the the best console to play PS4 games Ps5 pro is the best console to play PS4 game. I see what you did sony🤡
After 10 years with my OG PS4 I’m finally upgrading to the PS5 pro. £700 might seem a lot of money, however I consider it future proofing. Like 4-5, by the time PS6 comes out it will be many years later it breaks away from the PS5 consumer base. I can count on one hand the games I’ve missed out on to date. Perhaps not right now but, PSSR will no doubt have massive benefits going forward on future releases. I can happily see the Pro model lasting me another 10 years like my OG PS4.
I have a base PS5 and I have so many games I missed out on. In fact, there’s still so many PS4 games I’ve missed out on. Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost Of Tsushima. I also have a Switch, an Xbox, and a PC - and I have even more games on those in my backlog. So many games these days. It’s awesome.
Hope you got extended warranty, that Pro won't last 10 years, like your old OG PS4, they fail, by design. Watch any right to repair channel e.g ToltecMerc, you will see how many PS5's actually fail.
Thank you for the vid - good stuff. The only complaint I have is your capture bitrate looks quite poor. UA-cam recommend 60/70 mbps for 4k/60fps, most choose about 80-120 for 4k content. If you could make that adjustment in the future, it would improve your visuals. More than happy to help out if you need help but IGN are pretty big, you should have it covered - if not, I'm here.
I’m confused. I thought the point was to get rid of the 2 different options and combine the both. But all the games will still have 2 options???? What’s the point??!!
No one seems to address the CPU demanding games. I know the CPU is the same, but is it run at a higher frequency? Is it overclocked? Will the better gpu also affect cpu demanding games even in the slightest? I’m asking because I really want to play KCD2 at 60fps, which seems pretty unlikely unfortunately :( this would have been the only scenario for me to buy the ps5 pro…
The ps5 pro has shown once again that these pro consoles are completely unnecessary. Marginal upgrades that we wont even be able to notice in real time. Only people buying this are those rich gaming and tech youtubers who can afford to waste money on nonsesne like this just to say they have the latest tech.
So after paying 700 bucks I’m still going to be choosing between graphics and fidelity mode and the whole 60/30fps BS. Wow thanks I’ll just keep doing it with my base model 😊
This is the problem with having stronger gpus, many (not all) devs abuse the power and saddle their games with so much graphical enhancements it knocks the FPS back down to 30fps. Really wish platforms would make 60fps compulsory. Graphics be damned.
For most games maybe But for some games like GTA 6, graphics are a must It should look the best and we can manage it with 30 stable fps I believe that’s how it would be anyway when it releases Rockstar are the ones who would shatter the ongoing graphical limitations and move way beyond what we could imagine is possible. Of course the frames will have to compromise for this achievement Regardless, you are right for most other games stable 60 fps is a must now
@@seniorgun9452 I'd rather it be the same graphics as gta 5 as long as the maps bigger, more interactions with npcs like Rdr2 and a stable 60 fps. Obviously I don't speak for everyone but if you played gta san Andrea's right now you wouldn't care about graphics the games still a masterpiece.
Michael Higham is one of the best tech reviewers out there. Been loving all of his inputs for years now, and it's great to hear from him at IGN during this times, and give so much quality analisis/ideas/comparisons on the PS5 Pro. Thank you brother!
Honest question. I have an original PS4 and looking to possibly upgrade to the PS5. Should I go for the pro or save my money and go with the standard PS5? Thank you to all who respond back.
700 Dollars is an insane amount of money for this hardware. Add into the consideration that it’s going to be even more expensive in developing countries because of tax.
It’s just really sh•tty timing honestly. You have a console that came out in the middle of a pandemic that caused a bunch of ramifications within the tech world. On top of that, people who could afford and wanted the console, couldn’t even get it due to scalpers. So now you’re looking at a console that really just got started 2 years ago at best, and people are just a couple years into owning the damn thing. Now here we are. The Pro… a $700 console being promoted to a person who just spent $400 on the lesser version. This here would make any sane person upset so cut some slack.
The PlayStation 5 Pro is an absolute scam. Let me explain… The PlayStation 5 Pro offers 35% more GPU and 10% more CPU Performance then the Standard Model along with double the Hardware Storage and PSSR Upscaling but doesn’t include the Disc Drive or Stand or any other extra Hardware features. For the complete packaging it will cost you €939.97. Now let’s look at the PlayStation 4 Pro. The PlayStation 4 Pro offered a 227% GPU and 31% CPU increase compared to the Original Model and offered Checker Boarding Upscaling and offered extra USB Slots and at the same cost as the Launch Model. So without a doubt the extra Performance the PS5 Pro is getting is cause of the newer Chip which is very minor and either cost the same or slightly more to Manufacture then the OG PS5 Chipset at Launch. Also you can’t justify PSSR Upscaling to Justify the Price cause Checker Boarder Upscaling on the PS4 Pro didn’t increase the Price plus PSSR will get outdated when newer FSR/DLSS Upscalers release that will work on all Consoles. Also the Storage Upgrade might be the only slightly arguably valid excuse to sell this Console higher then the Standard Model but NVMe Storage has gotten much cheaper and they buy it in bulk saving even more money and cutting out the Disc Drive making this Console easily at best a €550 Console to break even or €599-€649 with the Disc Drive included. They are selling a Premium Console that offers nothing Premium but the Price.
The question isn't whether or not the upgrade is worth it, but rather why the PS5 was not the Pro version in the first place. The technology was probably already available to get this performance. Can't believe the consumer has accepted these mid gen refreshes.
I will get PS5 PRO. Guys stop complaining about disc drive that's fair because if you want disc drive then you could pay more plus the stand. Get the disc drive separately if you like play disc games. The new generation is changing to digital little by little so I recommend upgrade 8TB SSD for PS5 PRO and another 8TB external drive. Simple. SONY is testing which one buy more digital or disc drive that's why the generation is changing. Get faster Internet for heavy downloads on games and updates. That's my recommendation.
What's the point of buying this , when Sony will most likely release the PS6 in just 3 years?? I don't think investing in this for that short a time is worth it

If you support this, you are enabling console manufacturers to make this the norm for future generations. $700 for a console without a disc drive or even a stand is robbery.
Yawn 🥱
This is for enthusiasts, extra option.
They don’t need to subsidise like they do with vanilla PS5.
Console pricing depends on macroeconomics/inflation and poor competition.
You can get Series X with 2TB for $599. So why not get the best console for $100 more.

Gamers and company always talking about frame rates and graphics. I’m from a time where a game being fun was more important. Anyone with me?
YES! No one talks about this. Videos like this ruin the fun in gaming, I don't care about any of this hardware and pixel pushing crap. Hogwarts Legacy is the only new generation game I thoroughly enjoyed. I then sold my PS5 afterwards because nothing else seemed interesting to me. I still rock my nintendo switch because games on there are fun!
100% Always prioritize fun gameplay over good graphics, especially if the high graphics and shaders cause performance issues.
Absolutely 100% agree with you. I’m from that generation and I still stand with that mentality to this day.

Has zero intention on getting one. My work day went sideways and I ended up at target to kill time. Had no idea it came out today but there it was. Now after 6-7 hours of time on it I’m blown away. I really wasn’t expecting this much of a difference. Extremely happy
Biggest scam in gaming, the same console as the PS5 with barely bump from the Series X. AI upscaling is not worth 700.
Unfortunately we’ll never get to see the full potential of the series x with the garbage s holding it back!
Just because you can't see the difference on a compressed YT video doesn't mean it's a scam. You're just ignorant.
As for the Series X, the base PS5 already matches it or beats it in several games, the Pro adds further insult to injury with the upscaling and RT.
Still 30fps? And that for €800? My condolences to everyone who bought into this misery
@GamerDevilGirl666 60fps and 120fps depending on the game
You also need a 4k OLED HDR VRR 120hz TV. If your TV doesn't have VRR or 120hz youre not going to get the limited amount of improvement the system provides.
I don't get the 120hz, the pro barely plays at 60fps, why do you need a 120hz TV?

It's really frustrating!!
It should be 600$ with a disc drive
I think the reason it’s not is because it doesn’t make sense for Sony to subsidize this. The purpose of subsidies is to bring people into the PlayStation ecosystem and buy games there. Almost everyone buying a PS5 Pro is already in the PlayStation ecosystem.
Still wouldn't be worth it with no new first party games that are worth playing.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is an absolute scam. Let me explain…
The PlayStation 5 Pro offers 35% more GPU and 10% more CPU Performance then the Standard Model along with double the Hardware Storage and PSSR Upscaling but doesn’t include the Disc Drive or Stand or any other extra Hardware features.

Wait... This is an *upgrade*, but we still have to choose between graphics and performance modes....
Did you watch the video and how he explains how it works?
Since when having a choice is a bad thing?
@@tomaszstarzZz Don't tell that to the Republican Party
HEY OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@abeaconintheoffice No option is better than having the democrats as one
I'm fine at Fidelity mode, 30 fps? Don't need a PS5 pro upgrade. 😊😊😊
What's the point of buying this , when Sony will most likely release the PS6 in just 3 years?? I don't think investing in this for that short a time is worth it
In 2 years.
So any details about 30fps modes on the Pro? Does it look godly?
If I am to upgrade from a ps4 pro which I consider buying? Ps5 or ps5 pro? Also which will be better for GTA 6?
It is impossible to tell the difference when comparing games
Who would have thought... comparing two images on a crappy compressed YT video :-p
@PhilippeCorthout lol fair comment but it is all I have to go on, on whether I spend £700
True. I took a wild guess and ordered one. The PS4 Pro didn't disappoint me either.
I just don't like the lack of a disc drive out of the box... but not a dealbreaker for me.
@PhilippeCorthout As a big PSVR2 GT7 user, I will only get one if it enhances my VR experience in GT7
@@danc9291 Sounds nice... I was tempted to get PSVR2 for GT7 but I get motion sick 😅so went for the next big thing. Which was in game RT reflections in GT7 with the Pro.
