The Aurek is even noted for being used by Outer rim planets as defense fighters by the time of the empire. They were so abundant that the designer of the Jedi starfighters had his own one to test along side. The V Wing of the clone wars also shares very similar hull shape to it.
Such a great ship! I covered the Shadow Caster in an episode, what a combination of technologies! ua-cam.com/video/rwM2B7jFtcQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=HyperspaceDatabase
Well, they are both called a-wings, but the rebel a-wing was based off of the Jedi Delta-7 in Attack of the Clones, so while the design is similar, that's probably the only real connection between them.
I'm guessing fans gave it that unofficial name because of its open-wing shape. Either way, the Aurek Fighter is top-tier. My bias for KotOR reinforces that sentiment like nothing else.
Well, the Chela starfighter wasn't as nimble as the Aurek, but it was flown by senior officers and often led squadrons into battle. Also there were not nearly as many made as the Aurek, so in those ways it is kinda similar to the B-wing!
I imagine the Chela was easier to manage by pilots due to no gyro-rotation cockpit that was known for locking up. There's something oddly majestic about heavy assault starfighters that look like they're standing up while flying.
I just wonder how they kept the production/maintenance schematics available for 3000 (!!!) years. Then again, I guess the Star Wars Universe anyway has a certain continuity-problem when it comes to technology advancement... ;-)
There was a darkage and tech regression ( except in Hyperspace technology). The Hammerhead and Aurek were so easy and foolproof that it was good for defense forces.
@@barrybend7189I don't know... even our "Dark Ages", meaning the medieval times, were not really as "dark" as we think today. That's all (mis)interpretation of more recent times, e.g. the 19th century. A dark age that left technology on the same level (or being reinvented) for 3000-4000 years? Nah... But it's ok. I love Star Wars nonetheless. There's plot holes everywhere... not everything must make sense!

Oh wow, the StarSabre looks to be a looker. Thanks, I’ve not heard of either - embarrassing, since I tend towards TOR.
It's awesome to find cool things you didn't know about!

So this *Old Republic A-Wing* was an ancestor of the *Galactic Civil War/New Republic A-Wing*

Or..the Nova Courier, used by the Rebel Alliance..?
I will look that one up!
How about.....the Black Sun Vigo ship? Think was small cruiser/gunboat!? 😋
Yeah totally! I have some footage of that one I think, so I'll look into it.
You remind me of a Rual Carrier that I know? 🤔
I have never done that, but that's cool!
Wait a second! Does that make the other Republic starfighter in “Knights of the Old Republic” the ‘B-Wing’ of sorts?

As an anti-capital ship starfighter, @@hyperspacedatabase, as an anti-capital ship starfighter…
@@nickvinsable3798 Yeah, maybe so. It wasn't more heavily armed or armored than the Aurek, but that is a possibility!

The Honda Civic of Starwars starships?
Haha, don't doubt those Honda Civic's!
No that's the Cloakshape.

Yes! That always was a head-scratcher for me too!
