It’s well know that the strength of the Corellian freighters was that they could easily be modded into what amounted to a fast armored gunship. CEC did this with a wink and a nod to smugglers and pirates. There is no subtlety about this ship, it just comes right out and says it’s armed and ready for battle.

The Death Star being like 74.5 miles wide, that means that trench is far too wide compared to the one we see in the movie, which means that trench has to be somewhere else on the surface too small to notice compared to the whole Death Star. Edit: And plus that trench ends at the exhaust port, which the equator goes all the way around, there's no end to it.
