In the Star Wars Saga edition RPG there is a template for creating your own ugly. Personally, I'd have 4 interceptor wings around an Actis cockpit and call it the Clamped-Pearl after the Pokemon.
My favorite Ugly is Gran fighter from Bacta War. Gran turned surplus TIE bombers into gunships with quad turret, concussion missile launcher and shield generator. They flew side by side with Deathseeds you mention!
The TYE-wing would be fast but unmanouverable, useful as an interceptor. The Y-Tie would be slow and heavily shielded, basically a sitting duck bullet sponge. Mass still exists in the star wars universe.
The Deltanaut fighter: a Delta-7 light interceptor body and cockpit, with astromech removed, and reactor and hyperdrive of a U-Wing behind canopy.. 2 U-Wing engines, and the S-foils of a U-Wing to provide shield cover when extended.. fast in atmospheres, with slim profile so could show up unexpected.. would still need Jedi reflexes to pilot though.. but would have added strength for supporting fellow knights on the ground..!! 😂
@@hyperspacedatabase I'm not so sure. It looked like it was used by enterprising ex-imperials escaping from Jakuu. Try going to Star Wars Explained and looking for Uglies.
I do have an issue with the rendition used for the "tri" fighter "clutch". the "tines" (not solar panels) pointed backwards with the viewport being the formost point on the ship "it looked like the ball cockpit was being grasped with three fingers from behind" hence "clutch"
An ion cannon turret on a Y-Tie could be a Last Crusade moment..ie part when Jones Senior shoots out his own rudder when firing back at pursuit plane lol!
Great vid, I rather like the Y-Tie. Although personally I would rotate the Tie wings 90 degrees to give it a sleeker profile. The 'Chiss-ray Clawboat' sounds awesome.

@@neilmurphy966 Nice! I love how there are a lot of other super awesome-looking ships out there outside of the star wars universe. I can soooo appreciate asthetically cool ships. Not gonna lie, the Arwing from Starfox is one of my favorite ships out there. It just looks so doggone slick!
I had no idea this was a canon term, I first heard it in Lego's Freemaker Adventures and just assumed it was show specific. Thank you for the education, there were some really nice designs, like the first and last designs combining the Tie and X-wings and the two B-wings.
Heres an idea for a ugly the body of an N-1 naboo starfighter and and either the x foils of an x-wing or the y-wings engines instead of the N-1s engines
another ugly idea based on old republic what if you had the body of the aurek-class strikefighter with the folding wings of the sith fighter. The sith strike fighter a combination its capable of hyperspace due to the aurek strike-fighter body and has great armament but due to the folding wings it cannot land properly anymore and the wings have a chance that high speed turns will break them off the body of the ship
My Tie fighter Ugly: Tie Advanced V1 with the wings of a Tie interceptor and add two upward swinging joints so the Tie fighter could land using the wider contact pads built into the tie interceptor wings.
My ideal Ugly would be the Y-ceptor, combining the body of a Y-wing and the wings of a Tie Interceptor. I would keep the 4 laser cannons from the tie interceptor and replace the Y-wing's laser cannons with twin light ion cannons, also I would mount a light laser cannon in place of the Y-wing's ion cannons which would possibly be mounted facing backwards to cover the ships rear arc. This way it would have the shields, armour, astromech droid, hyper drive and the bomb/proton torpedo payload of the Y-wing and the heavier laser armament of the Tie Interceptor. It wouldn't be the prettiest ship but damm it would tough and well armed. :)
Thanks :D. Your Chiss-ray Clawboat was an interesting combo of ships, It certainly wouldn't be short on firepower. There's something about the cobbled together nature of Uglies that really appeals to me. I really dig the YX-wing as well. :)
@@gundog39 hmmm, that's a good question. I installed several a long time ago, got the game footage I wanted, then deleted them because they were over 1gb apeice. I think this one was from the "yodenmod" if I recall. Don't quote me on that though.
I like your version of the Y-Scepter, if you could boost the engines a bit, it would make a formidable fighter. Something about the XY-wing intrigued me. If you could rearrange the four Y-wing engines a bit (more of a diamond pattern; one top, one bottom and one esch side) I think it could have potential. I also think it could use some wings for atmospheric maneuverability, as well as mounts for more lasers...🤔
See, I love the Tie Wing design. I created a merc group for an rpg that created a standard Tie Wing. The tie pod would keep the lasers of the tie, but the ion engine would be replaced by a generator that would give the fighter shields, life support, and the y-wing engines would be modified with secondary thrusters to give it more manuverability. Granted, these fighters were only used as defensive fighters for newbie pilots, but still.
If we're talking starfighter, The Manta. The body of a vulture/hyena, where the head is switched with the cockpit of an actis-2. The engines of the TIE interceptor, one in each end, where the "legs" would've been. Any other type of ship, The Dae. A space faring Eddicus. Change the engines to something space worthy. Remove the pilot canopy in favor of an interior command center. Add shields and a hyper drive, maybe a better power core. Some hidden weaponry. And we're off. I used to play a character that loved resto-modding ships, and had a delta-7 with all the most up to date (~40 aby) tech he could get his grubby hands on, including a miniaturized class .5 hyper drive, overlapping shield generators, and more advanced twin ion engines.
I love the look of the tie wing, despite being the worst performance wise. It was named the die wing by imperial and rebel pilots due to it being a flying coffin.
Thank you! You can head over to our facebook page, or chat me up on twitter, those are both great options to chat with me more! (Links in the description)
The Y interceptor: like the Y tie it has the body of a Y wing but instead of the wings of tie fighter it has the wings of the Tie Interceptor for more speed and maneuverability and unlike the Y tie in has 6 laser cannon (4 on the wings and 2 on front of the body of the Y wing) and Ion turret on the top. It also could be équipe with many missiles for special kinds of missions.
@@hyperspacedatabase there was another idea of mine where the Tie Defender has a spinning axel on the back of the cockpit where it can spin 360 degrees like the B wing
@@RenT980 I really like the idea of a rotating wing design like that! Probably one of the reasons why the Skipray Blastboat is my favorite fighter in Star Wars!
@@hyperspacedatabase there was 3rd idea of mine called the A-Interceptor. As you probably guess it has the body of an A-wing and the wing of a tie interceptor (the wings can be folded inward and outward so that it could land). This starfighter has the speed of an A-wing and the maneuverability of tie/in, then again the wiring does need to be modified so that the computer system could suck up from the solar panels.
I like the CGI version of the C Wing…. Its looks to be more purpose built, instead of just bolting a cockpit onto the end of a B Wing. I can see it being used as an armed shuttle or shuttle escort. That angled corridor can house bunks and other amenities as well as providing inflight access to systems. While not technically an ugly i once sketched out a X Wing Heavy long Long range concept… Stretched out the fuselage to make it a two seater widen it slightly. This allows both seats to be slid to port creating a passageway to access the aft end of the ship… there the crawlspace is just starboard of the centerline and just to the port of centerline is a single bunk alcove plus devices for food, bathing and biomass evacuation. Continuing aft the passageway ends with a shaft that runs to the top and bottom, terminating in extendible docking ports. This allows the X wing to dock with compatible vessels and stations, even dock with another Xwing heavy for evacuation and or towing. Aft of the shaft to both the port and starboard are sockets for R Series astromechs. Yes it has 2 R2s (or whatever number you please. Additionally one of sockets can be used to house smaller service droids. Conversely the space in the shaft, and for that matter the bunk, can be used foe storage of supplies for long duration missions . Tucked under the fuselage is a storage bay for two speeder bikes both of which can seat two, plus the can be combined to create a platform between them ….. while these bikes are ground effect vehicles, they can also operate in the weightlessness and vacuum of space
My ugly starfighter would be a mix of the TIE Phantom cockpit with a gyroscope system, the TIE Defender wings and the quad heavy laser cannons from the Millennium Falcon mounted on the front and rear for excellent firepower with the rear turret being controlled by a fairly advanced droid brain.

@@imablock16 who knows, maybe in the new visions series?
@@hyperspacedatabase ohhh I forgot about visions! ...I have high hopes for star wars related things.. People talk trash but in the end all that matters to me is getting to see more ships! xD.
Ugly idea: X wing with the body of the Tie Phantom, all weapons of the Phantom and the cloaking tech still on it.
Oh yeah, that would be awesome! You could call it the x-phantom or something cool like that!
@@hyperspacedatabase The Phantom-X would be a way cooler name for it. I'd think the Phantom-X would only be used to strike fear into the enemy eyes. It would still be awesome though!
@@samuelfowler3641 Oh yeah, that's way better.
Here's and interesting idea
Take an Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor (episode 3 Jedi fighter) and replace the normal S-foils with the wings of a TIE Interceptor. The TIE wings would still retain the ability to open and close like the old S-foils did, while greatly adding to the firepower and possibly the agility of the Eta-2.
Nice! That would look pretty slick!
I saw a AT-AT head with N1 Naboo fighter engines somewhere . Possibly fan fiction.
I just love how many variations there are out there, the possibilities are endless!
This is great! Some of these ships truly are ugly. But others are kinda neat. I liked the one with the Tie cockpit with X-wing wings. Kinda wanna make a newer version of it but with the First Order tie + Resistance X-wing.
Yeah! There are some pretty crazy combinations I've seen, plus some really awesome ones. It just goes to to show how there can be all kinds of creativity in ship building/scrapping!
@@hyperspacedatabase Perfect for Lego builders like me. 😁
Why do I feel that if I lived in the star wars Galaxy I'd be in one of those
Haha, they are often affordable!
A-Wing with the bridge and shield generators of a Deuce class Star Destroyer not an option?
Turns out, there are a TON of fan made combinations out there!
hi, been looking.. an idea cud be the Tie Mangler from SWTOR? One for a future video..if there's enuf info on it tho!!? 😉
I will check it out!
@@hyperspacedatabase not sure comes under class of ship, more space station...but the Wheel in the Besh Gorgon system looks good topic.. Cody Sunn-Childe owned it for a while..and has long history!!
@@neilmurphy966 I'll look into it!
If I had an Ugly, I'd probably use this 0:35, the wings of an X-Wing on the body of a Y-Wing, or simply use the X-ceptor
I do love the look of the s-foil wings on other ships, and there are sooo many combinations out there, it's crazy!
@@hyperspacedatabase indeed, I'd probably name the X-Wing S foils on the Y-Wing, the XY-Wing or YX-Wing
If I were to make an ugly ship it would have the body of an X-Wing play the wings of a tie bomber the tow cable of a t47 backwards facing laser canons of a lambda-class shuttle and the ion Cannon of a y-wing
Wow, talk about a versatile ship!
@@hyperspacedatabase oh thanks this is how creative if I could go and one of these ideas and trust me I believe a ship like this could have been awesome
My ugly ship would be the body of an a-wing and the wings of a x-wing. I would call it the
Xa-wing.
Nice! I think that would look pretty awesome!!
What if you took the engines OFF the razercrest then stuck them onto bobba fetts ship were the wings are?
Then take out internal engines and add more mines/missles....
Just thinking out loud lol.....
Hmmm, interesting choice! That sounds like it could have some good potential!
The X-Ceptor ✅
Chef's kiss!
I would fly an X-Tie unironically.
I know your into pod racing if you get time. Check the novel Ghost of Tatoonie . Han flies the course Ankin flew as child . It's fairly good novel an on audio books also
Ooh, that sounds awesome! I'll have to check that out!
I want to build a Lego model of the death raven, maybe in a different color scheme for fun!
That would be super legit!
I thought of a few uglies the vulture-170 a body of a arc-170 mixed with the legs/wings of a vulture droid.
Ooh, that'd be cool!
Can you do a breakdown on Heavy/Light Attack Fighter 500?
I'll check it out!
@Hyperspace Database Thanks again, and sorry for too much
No worries!
I have an idea for an ugly that's the body of an AT-AT with the cockpit of a TIE Reaper and parts from other Imperial ships. I don' t have a name for this ship though.
Ooh, interesting!
@@hyperspacedatabase An ugly gunship or transport would also be unique.
They are maximum troll works of art!
I would combine a Tie fighter or b-wing with a driod tri fighter.
Nice! Would you have the body of the tri fighter and the wings of the tie? What systems would you keep or get rid of?
@@hyperspacedatabase I would put ball cockpit b-wing cockpit were driod head is and keep the armament.
@@emmanuelmorris7653 Awesome!
@@hyperspacedatabase and I would call the gremlin for all the havoc it cause with buzz driods. Made a edit to change the cockpit with a b-wing.
@@emmanuelmorris7653 Haha, I love it!
What game is that footage from?
It is a mod from the strategy game Star Wars Empire at War.
Every time I watch this video I find myself transfixed by that x-wing/Tie Fighter monstrosity @ 0:30, nothing about it makes any sense at all. How would the thing even land for starters, what death stick/spice fiend put this together. xD
Haha, yeah no kidding!
Then you look at the YX-wing @0:39 and that seems perfectly functional. It does help that it looks kinda cool as well, I wouldn't mind taking it out for a spin. :)
I will never accept Disney as canon. "Legends" are the only canon I will accept, Star Wars went into hibernation when Lucas sold it to the mouse for thirteen silver pieces.
I would like to see some uglies in X wing miniatures
Totally! There are some people who have made some custom models which look pretty cool!
2:02 made in China TIE phantom
Haha, lol yes!!!!
How could pirates launch a Y-Tie.. landing gear of a Y-Wing wouldn't reach that far.. and if it was from a rack it'd be forward-heavy? 😂
Haha, good question! There are quite a few ships out there where they aren't proportionate or have landing gear! Kinda silly when you think about it!
Everyone eles call them kit bashing
Some bad bad some worse
Indeed!
Why are almost every ugly ship 10x better then actual mass produced ships ?
Lol! Those illegal modifications make them crazy good, but also pretty sketchy on the safety side of things!
